The paper explores two British missions in Serbia between December 1944 and June 1945, unknown until now. The purpose of both missions was to protect British interests by surveying the state of the Trepča mining complex in Kosovo and Metohija once the war operations were over. A majority stake in the Trepča lead-zinc mines was held by the British company Trepca Mines Limited owned by a mining magnate, Sir Alfred Chester Beatty. The two missions unveiled not only the importance of Trepča for the war effort of the Allies (as the need for lead ore had increased), but also the manner in which the

Such obtained results allow determining a transport rate in the horizontal pipe-line, depending on the mixture bulk density and pipe-line diameter. Abstract:
This work is part of the framework of a fast modeling of winding aiming at improving knowledge of residual stress evolution in steel strips and therefore their flatness during the coiling process. An exact analytical solution of an elastic-plastic strip with isotropic hardening at finite strains under an imposed transformation of curvature is developed. Issues related to flow rules for non-differentiable yield functions (Tresca) have been broached and a unique solution is obtained. The equivalence for this transformation, between von Mises and Tresca yield functions is demonstrated. This solut

The accuracy of five failure criterions employed in the study of periodontal ligaments (PDL) during periodontal breakdown under orthodontic movements was assessed. Based on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) examinations, nine 3D models of the second lower premolar with intact periodontium were created and individually subjected to various levels of horizontal bone loss. 0.5 N of intrusion, extrusion, rotation, tipping, and translation was applied. A finite Elements Analysis (FEA) was performed, and stresses were quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed. In intact periodontium, Tresca and V

Serbia has plenty of rich sites and active excavation mines of polymetallic ores of lead and zinc and centuries-old practice of their exploitation. In Serbia, the metallurgical processing of zinc concentrate started in 1955 at Zorka company in Šabac, while in the town of Kosovska Mitrovica, it began in 1967 at the Trepča combine. Several factors, including the fall o Yugoslaviam general societal circumstances and ownership transition, lead to a significant decline in production since 1992. It developed to the final halt of zinc's metallurgical production in 1999 at Trepča and in 2002 at Zorka.

A new linear yield criterion, referred to as Equal Area (EA) yield criterion, was derived in Haigh Westergaard stress space based on the projection area of its yielding locus on the π-plane equal to the area of von Mises yielding circle. Under the plane stress and strain conditions the crack tip plastic zone dimensions were calculated based on EA yield criterion and compared with those calculated according to the Tresca and von Mises yield criteria. The results showed that the crack tip plastic zone based on EA yield criterion is similar to that based on von Mises yield criterion, but is much

The plastic zones for I, II, III mode crack under small scale yielding are analyzed by MY criterion, and the analytical solutions of the sizes of the plastic zones for plain stress and plain strain states are first obtained. The solutions for I and II mode crack show that the two solutions are functions of the yield stress, stress strength factor and polar angle, while the solution for III mode crack just depends on the yield stress and stress strength factor. Comparison of the plastic zone with those based on Tresca and Mises criteria shows that Tresca criterion predicts the maximum, the resu

Finite element analysis is a powerful tool for the design and optimization of mechanical forming processes. To achieve accurate results, a precise knowledge of the fundamental process parameters is required. In this context, this work analyzes the influence of several friction models in the numerical simulation of isothermal forging processes for a commercial aluminum alloy. Using the commercial software FORGE NxT 2.0, the friction models of, Tresca, Coulomb-Tresca and the Viscoplastico(Norton) friction model were considered and their results compared to forging experiments of an axisymmetric

Plasticity in shells is often contained near the ends of a segment where the bending stresses are significant. Outside of this local neighborhood the behavior is elastic. Thus, an axisymmetric shell can be divided along its axis into a purely elastic region away from an end and the local region where plasticity is present. The moment-curvature relation in the elastic-plastic region is calculated using the Tresca yield condition. Use of the Tresca yield condition greatly simplifies this derivation because the principal directions are known. This moment-curvature relationship is “exact” in the s
