Background: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disorder affecting the colonic mucosa, characterized by intense inflammation and mucosal damage. The present study aimed to evaluate the protective effect of the Trigonellafoenum-graecum L. (TFG) seeds in acetic acid-induced UC in rats. Materials and Methods: Male rats (n=30) were distributed into 5 groups as normal control, UC, standard, and two test groups. Colitis was induced by acetic acid in all the groups except the normal control group. Normal control and UC group received distilled water, the standard group was administered s

Allium tuberosum Rottler ex Spreng (ATR) and Trigonella foenum graecum (TFG) have been used as complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for the treatment of hyperlipidemia. So, the present study was planned to compare the antihyperlipidemic effect of the alcoholic extract of ATR and TFG in high cholesterol diet (HCD) induced hyperlipidemia in albino rabbits along with their effect on coagulation profile. Forty-two albino rabbits (1.5-2 kg) were divided into 7 groups (n=6). Hyperlipidemia was induced by administration of high cholesterol diet (HCD) 400 mg/kg for 30 days. The group 1 were tr

Background: An annual plant, Fenugreek (Trigonellafoenum-graecum L.) has well-known health care benefits in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine. Its leaves and seeds have alkaloids, amino acids, caumarins, flavonoids, saponins, and other bioactive components. Various pharmacological properties such as antioxidants, hypoglycemic, and hypolipidemic have been attributed to fenugreek. Trigonelline, diosgenin, and 4- hydroxyisoleucine have shown neuroprotection against Alzheimer’s disease, and the extract have also been reported to act as an anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, and also regulate cognitive fun

Abstract: Diabetes mellitus (DM), a chronic medical condition, has attained a global pandemic status over the last few decades affecting millions of people. Despite a variety of synthetic drugs available in the market, the use of herbal medicines for managing diabetes is gaining importance because of being comparatively safer. This article reviews the result of a substantial literature search on polyherbal formulations (PHFs) developed and evaluated with potential for DM. The accumulated data in the literature allowed us to enlist 83PHFs consisting of different parts of 147 plant species belon

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disorder characterized by persistent joint inflammation, leading to severe disability and increased mortality rates. Fenugreek, known for its anti-arthritic effects, demonstrates promise in retarding RA onset and progression. However, challenges like poor bioavailability and limited target specificity hinder its therapeutic utility. To circumvent these limitations, transdermal delivery systems, notably transferosomes, offer a viable solution. This study aimed to formulate a transferosomal gel incorporating Trigonella foenum-graecum (TFG) extra
