Sword-tailed crickets of the genus Amusurgus Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893 (Orthoptera: Trigonidiidae: Trigonidiinae) from Southeast Asia is still poorly known and its taxonomy requires a revision. Many species are still awaiting discovery and formal description. Based on newly-acquired materials from the mangrove in Singapore, a new species of Amusurgus is described: Amusurgus (Amusurgus) caerulus sp. nov. This discovery also demonstrates that even in a small country like Singapore, we still do not have a comprehensive understanding of its orthopteran diversity.

Svistella Gorochov, 1987 is a genus of sword-tailed crickets whose males bear long tegmina and long oval-shaped mirror. There are 11 species of Svistella recorded worldwide, and 10 are distributed in China. In this article, we describe a new species of Svistella from Yunnan Province (Svistella cangshanensis Ma & Tao sp. nov.). The new species is similar to Svistella wuyong He, 2021, however, the pronotum of S. wuyong is reddish-brown and there are black spots on both sides of the end of the posterior femora, the pronotum of S. cangshanensis is yellowish-brown and there are black spots in t

We discovery two new species (Trigonidium nigripes sp. nov. and Pteronemobius luojishanensis sp. nov.) of Trigonidiidae (Orthoptera: Grylloidea) from Sichuan Province, China. T. nigripes sp. nov. is distinct by its tegmen slightly bulging smooth and black, bearing false veins, degraded hindwings and similar wing venation of male and female, and P. luojishanensis sp. nov., is distinguished by its male ectoparamere of genitalia bifurcated and epiphallus relatively short. These species are described and illustrated in this article.

The taxonomy of Old World Trigonidiinae (sword-tailed crickets) is in need of major revision. This includes its type genus Trigonidium. Various authors have different opinions on what constitutes the subgenera and species of Trigonidium s. l. and this has led to considerable confusion and inconsistencies. Recent use of molecular data has helped make some progress in resolving some of these problems, but there are still limitations. In this paper, we aim to provide a baseline to resolve the confusion in the taxonomy of Trigonidium s. l. Firstly, we provide a literature review of the contentious
