A total of 15 families; 36 genera and 53 species are documented herein, including a new genus and seventeen new species; fourteen of which remain under open nomenclature. Most of the trilobites in the British late Silurian are restricted to the shelf, and predominantly occur in the Elton, Bringewood, Leintwardine, and Whitcliffe groups of Wales and the Welsh Borderland. The Middle Cambrian Spence Shale Member of the Langston Formation of northern Utah and southern Idaho is a fossil-rich unit that exhibits distinct cyclicity at the parasequence (meter) scale. An Algerian Phacopid fauna, described by Lemaître in 1952, is reexamined here. Species arereevaluated in order to be in agreement with modern taxonomy. Nesse estudo são revisados os trilobites da família Homalonotidae (Phacopida), Formação Ponta Grossa (Devoniano), do Estado do Paraná. No total, foram examinados 156 espécimes de homalonotídeos provenientes de rochas equivalentes, litoestratigraficamente, ao Membro Jaguariaíva (=Seqüência B), aflorantes nos municípios de Ponta Grossa, Tibagi e Jaguariaíva. Os dados obtidos permitem inferir que pelo menos duas espécies estão presentes, isso é: Digonus noticus e Burmeisteria herschelii. A espécie Digonus noticus é comum no Devoniano da África do Sul (Grupo Bokkeveld), Argentina (Formação Lipéon)

The phylogeny of the Family Pliomeridae and the Ordovician representatives of the Encrinuridae was investigated using cladistics. This resulted in the diagnosis of seven subfamilies; five of pliomerids (including one erected herein) and two subfamilies of encrinurid: the Cybelinae and Encrinurinae. Some 75 genera and 12 subgenera are also diagnosed on the basis of cladistic analysis of over 180 relatively complete species. The natural plant toxin asimicin and the standardized extract F020 from Asimina triloba (Annonaceae) were examined for their insecticidal properties using six insect species, encompassing four orders. Pawpaw (Asimina triloba (L.) Dunal) has significant potential as a new fruit crop. During ripening, loss of firmness is extremely rapid, and this trait may be the biggest obstacle to the development of a broader market as handling without injury is difficult. Cold storage of pawpaw seems limited to 4 weeks at 4 C. A study of several cultivars with commercial appeal showed that ripening traits such as ethylene production, respiration and loss of firmness were similar in all genotypes, and that no cultivar showed superior responses to cold storage.
