Se ha estudiado al frutal nativo, tumbo serrano (Passiflora mollisima), para elaborar néctar. La composición promedio y estudio biométrico del mismo son reportados en la parte bibliográfica. Se determinaron parámetros para su elaboración: índice de madurez de tumbo 7,21. Cortado longitudinal. Dilución 5 partes de agua por parte de jugo, llevándola a 15 Brix: Llenado al vacío Pasteurizado a 85°C por espacio de 15 minutos. Se reporta la caracterización del néctar de tumbo.

Abstract:
La pitahaya amarilla (Hylocereus megalanthus) y el tumbo serrano (Passiflora tripartita var. mollisima) son frutos cultivados en Perú. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la propiedad hipoglicemiante de estos frutos mediante la inhibición in vitro de las enzimas α-amilasa y α-glucosidasa. Los frutos fueron despulpados y liofilizados, y luego de preparar los respectivos extractos acuosos, se determinó el contenido de polifenoles totales (TPC) mediante el método de Folin-Ciocalteu. La actividad inhibitoria se determinó mediante el IC50 y se evaluó el tipo de inhibición utilizando 0,25-2 mg/mL y 0,02-0,28 mg/mL del extracto del tumbo serrano sobre la α-amilasa y α-glucosidasa, respectivamente. Para la pitahaya se empleó 4-64 mg/ml y 0,8-25,6 mg/mL sobre la α-amilasa y α-glucosidasa, respectivamente. Los TPC para el tumbo serrano y pitahaya amarilla fueron de 614,67 y 16,17 mg/100 g de muestra, respectivamente, expresados en equivalente de ácido gálico. El extracto acuoso de tumbo serrano inhibió a las enzimas α-amilasa y α-glucosidasa (tipo no competitiva mixta) con un IC50 de 1719,18 y 77,68 μg/Ml, respectivamente, mientras que la pitahaya amarilla solo inhibió a la enzima α-glucosidasa con un IC50 de 8692,4 μg/mL (tipo competitiva).

Abstract:
El trabajo de investigación sobre técnicas de propagación y mejoramiento del cultivo de tumbo (Passiflora mollisima, L.) en Tarata nos conllevó a identificar dos (02) ecotipos de tumbo que preliminarmente hemos concordado en denominarlos ecotipo Agrio y ecotipo Dulce, respetando la tradición de los agricultores. Se diferencia el Agrio por tener mayor tamaño longitudinal del fruto, mayor número de semillas y mayor acidez. Se ha podido establecer que el porcentaje de germinación para el ecotipo Agrio es de 85 %; los plantones logrados presentan un alto grado de homocigosis, lo que facilita la propagación sexual de esta especie. Se ha establecido que el material vegetal propagado se adapta al sistema de conducción en espaldera, comportándose como lianas tipo trepadoras con ayuda de los órganos modificados conocidos como zarcillos.

Abstract:
AbstractIn the Pacific Northwest of North America, endangered Garry oak ecosystems have a complex history that integrates effects of Holocene climate change, Indigenous land management, and colonial settlement during the Anthropocene. In western Canada, Garry oak and Douglas fir recruitment corresponds with the end of the Little Ice Age (LIA; ca. 1870), after the collapse of Indigenous populations but in some cases prior to European settlement. We examined establishment patterns at three sites in southwest British Columbia, each with different edaphic characteristics based on slope, exposure, and drainage. At our Somenos Marsh site on Vancouver Island, we see a clear relationship between Indigenous occupation, subsequent European settlement, and development of an oak woodland, indicating that Indigenous land management was important for development of many Garry oak ecosystems. However, at the Tumbo Cliff site (Tumbo Island, BC), shallow soil xeric conditions, regional climate, and periodic fire were likely drivers of stand and ecosystem development. Finally, at the deep soil Tumbo Marsh site, Garry oak established and grew quickly when conditions were favorable, following the early twentieth century conversion of a saltwater tidal flat into a freshwater marsh. Combining site level historical records, site characteristics, and dendrochronological data provides a greater understanding of the local and regional factors that shape the unique structures of Garry oak ecosystems at each site. This information can be integrated into restoration and fire management strategies for Garry oak ecosystems as well as elucidate the timing of European settler and climate change impacts on these ecosystems.

Objectives. To develop and formulate a new experimental dentifrice with and without fluoride based on the peel and the fruit of thePassiflora mollissima(tumbo) and also to evaluate its antimicrobial activity against seven bacterial strains.Methods. The sample was calculated using the mean comparison formula, obtaining wells (n = 12) for each of the strains evaluated:S. mutans,E. faecalis,Actinomyces,Lactobacillus,C. albicans,S. sanguinis, andS. oralis. The antibacterial activity of the dentifrice was evaluated by the direct contact technique.Results. It was found that the highest antimicrobial activity was only present in pulp-based dentifrices against strains ofS. mutans21.0 ± 1.8,E. faecalis16.3 ± 3.9,Actinomyces22.1 ± 1.3, andLactobacillus21.0 ± 1.3. However, in comparison with other strains such asC. albicans,S. sanguinis, andS. oralis, the peel-based dendrifrice ofPassiflora mollissimaobtained the highest antimicrobial activity.Conclusion. The experimental dentifrice based onPassiflora mollissimahad an antibacterial effect against the seven microbial strains during the first 24 and 48 hours.

Abstract:
The study sought to examine students’ dressing styles and common attributes assigned to them. A descriptive survey design was used in this study. The study areas were the University of Nairobi, Egerton University, Moi University, Technical University of Mombasa, Maseno and Karatina Universities. Multiple sampling procedures were used to select 566 students who participated in the study. Data were collected using questionnaires, focus group discussions and observation checklists. Results show that majority of respondents bought their own clothes with funds provided by the parents or guardians. The most outstanding feature that informed choice of dress was aesthetics, followed by comfort and design. Vests, bare chest tops and shorts were considered modest while high-slitted skirts, miniskirts, unbuttoned shirts, boob-tops, tumbo-cuts, skin-tight dresses and trousers and Bermuda shorts were found to be immodest. Recommendations have been made to develop guidelines on the choice of dress for students in institutions of higher learning to enhance personal grooming.

La finalidad de este trabajo es, por un lado, el estudio de la escritura del tumbo inédito de San Xoán da Cova (segunda mitad del siglo XV), a través de su consulta directa y la aplicación de una metodología paleográfica. Para un análisis más completo, iniciamos el trabajo con una breve síntesis de la materialidad del códice y de algunos aspectos de la diplomática del mismo (ciertas fórmulas, las clases de notarios que intervienen o la tipología de los documentos copiados). Tras ello, analizaremos los modelos gráficos empleados en el libro, sus características, la posible identificación de las manos o los motivos que explican la aparición de estas grafías. Por otro lado, el segundo objetivo es la elaboración de los regestos de los documentos del libro, los cuales reflejan su gran diversidad tipológica. Observaremos, por lo tanto, que los modelos góticos, principalmente, la cortesana, fueron los más utilizados en la redacción del códice, en relación con su función administrativa, el carácter notarial de los documentos copiados o el uso del gallego. Estas conclusiones se completan con la existencia de un claro multigrafismo (bastarda-latín, cortesana-gallego) entre los notarios apostólicos de este libro como consecuencia de su formación y apreciable tras la comparación de este tumbo con otras fuentes notariales de Santiago. [gl] A finalidade deste traballo é, dunha banda, o estudo da escritura do tombo inédito de San Xoán da Cova (segunda metade do século XV), a través da súa consulta directa e a aplicación dunha metodoloxía paleográfica. Para unha análise máis completa, iniciamos o traballo cunha breve síntese da materialidade do códice e dalgúns aspectos da diplomática do mesmo (certas fórmulas, as clases de notarios que interveñen ou a tipoloxía dos documentos copiados). Tras isto, analizaremos os modelos gráficos empregados no libro, as súas características, a posible identificación das mans ou os motivos que explican a aparición destas grafías. Doutra banda, o segundo obxectivo é a elaboración dos rexestos dos documentos do libro, os cales reflicten a gran diversidade documental trasladada. Observaremos, polo tanto, que os modelos góticos, principalmente, a cortesá, foron os máis utilizados na redacción do códice, en relación coa súa función administrativa, o carácter notarial dos documentos copiados ou o uso do galego. Estas conclusións complétanse coa existencia dun claro multigrafismo (bastarda-latín, cortesá-galego) entre os notarios apostólicos deste libro como consecuencia da súa formación e apreciable trala comparación deste tombo con outras fontes notariais de Santiago.

Abstract:
Banana passion fruit (Passiflora tripartite L.H. Bailey) is a lesser known species of the genus Passiflora. This fruit typically grows in the Andean region of Ecuador and it is locally known as tumbo, taxo or curuba. The juice of this fruit is highly appreciated in South America. Extracts of banana passion fruit were characterized for their content levels of free and bound phenolic compounds by high performance liquid chromatography coupled to high resolution mass spectrometry detector (HPLC-ESI-TOF-MS). A total of 82 polar compounds classified as phenolic acid derivatives, organic acids, benzophenones, flavan-3-ols, flavonols and flavones were detected in the extracts. The total phenolic content was 2356 mg 100 g−1 dry matter, with the bound phenolic fraction representing 37.7% of total amounts. Flavan-3-ols, such as (epi)catechin, (epi)azfelechin and their derivatives, were the main phenolic compounds in the free phenolic fraction; however, phenolic acids represented the most abundant class of bound phenolic extracts. The antioxidant and hypoglycemic capacities reported for banana passion fruit were higher than for other fruits. To our knowledge, this is the first time that bound phenolic compounds have been described in banana passion fruit pulp.

Ninguna de las obras de Fray Bernardo Cardillo Villalpando (1570-1637), conocido cro-nista cisterciense que visitó numerosas casas de su Orden, llegó a la imprenta. Por ello, la mayor parte de su producción ha desaparecido. Entre los pocos textos que han pervivido se encuentran los dedica-dos a Santa María de Monfero (A Coruña), recientemente identificados. Es el caso de los dos "memo-riales" de escrituras reales y pontificias de la abadía, redactados en 1616 y dispuestos al final del llamado "Tumbo viejo" que hoy guarda el Archivo Municipal de A Coruña. La recuperación, edición y estudio de ambos repertorios permite no sólo un acercamiento al archivo del monasterio a comien-zos del setecientos y al devenir de su fondo, también conocer y evaluar el estilo, método y resultados de la tarea del erudito. La comparación entre la información que ofrece Fr. Bernardo y la que, cuatro siglos después, podemos extraer de los pergaminos supervivientes citados en sus memoriales, mues-tra, por una parte, la sólida formación del autor para abordar el estudio del "patrimonio documental" y, por otra, el rigor con el que llevó a cabo su trabajo.)

Pakan merupakan salah satu faktor yang memegang peranan penting dalam suatu usaha peternakan karena hampir 70% biaya produksi adalah dari pakan. Dilarangnya penggunaan antibiotik dalam pakan maka para ahli pakan mencari alternatif penganti pakan seperti pre-probitiok, phytogenic, enzim, imuno mudulator dan beberapa pakan aditif lainnya. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan informasi formulasi pakan berdasarkan sumber daya lokal dan pemberian imbuhan pakan herbal (phytogenic) kepada masyarakat. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di dua desa yaitu Desa Tumbo Baro, Kecamatan Kuta Malaka (mitra FA Pronak), dan Desa Lamme Garot, Kecamatan Montasik Kabupaten Aceh Besar (mitra Kelasan Express). Dengan kegiatan ini diharapkan adanya peningkatan produktivitas ternak ayam broiler yang dipelihara oleh masyarakat serta berupaya untuk meningkatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh dari ternak yang dipelihara masyarakat dengan memeberikan feed additives herbal sebagai imbuhan pakan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan secara bertahap, yaitu 1) Tahap persiapan kegiatan, 2) Penyuluhan dan pelatihan, 3) Pembuatan produk yang akan di aplikasikan pada peternak mitra. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peternak dalam memformulasi ransum ayam broiler dan penggunakan feed additive herbal sebagai imbuhan pakan dalam pemeliharaan ayam broiler. Kegiatan ini juga memberikan suatu produk ransum yang siap digunakan oleh peternak untuk memenuhi kebutuhan nutrisi dari ayam yang dipelihara.

Abstract:
The Upper Cretaceous Nanaimo Group consists of extensive shaly units and lenticular bodies of sandstone and conglomerate deposited in neritic to bathyal marine paleoenvironments. Single sandstone and conglomerate lenses cannot be traced throughout the basin, but instead tend to concentrate at particular stratigraphic levels, defining crudely sheet-like composite units of coarse-grained rocks. Many of the lenticular coarse-grained units rest in major channels, as deep as about 550 m. Sand and gravel were generally transported to the west and northwest by sediment gravity flows through these channels into the basin centre. Recognition of widespread channeling is critical to the definition of formal lithostratigraphic units (four formations and two informal members are defined here for the upper Nanaimo Group).The top of the Nanaimo Group is probably truncated by a major unconformity with local relief of at least 2 km. The effect of the unconformity can only be seen by mapping the orientation of offshore ridges in the Strait of Georgia, which can be traced into the sandstones and conglomerates above the inferred unconformity on Tumbo and Cabbage islands. Large scale cross-bedding, unidirectional paleocurrents, and lack of evidence for marine conditions favour a subaerial, fluvial setting for deposition of these rocks, which correlate to the lithologically similar Paleogene Chuckanut Formation on the Sucia Islands.

Bibliotherapia humsaidia msomaji kupitia mtagusano wake na maudhui na wahusika ambao wamepitia hali kama ya yule msomaji. Makala haya yalilenga kuchanganua maudhui na uhusika ili kubaini sifa za kibibliotherapia katika diwani hizi za hadithi fupi; Mayai Waziri wa Maradhi na hadithi nyingine (2004), Damu Nyeusi na Hadithi Nyingine (2007), Kiti cha Moyoni na hadithi nyingine (2007) na Tumbo Lisiloshiba na Hadithi Nyingine (2016). Mbinu iliyotumiwa kukusanya data hii ni majadiliano katika makundi au kundi lengani. Utafiti huu ulipata matini yake kutoka kwa hadithi fupi teule zinazotumiwa au zinazoweza kutumiwa kama matini ya fasihi ya Kiswahili katika shule za upili. Watafitiwa walikuwa walimu 28 pamoja na wanafunzi 112 wa Kidato cha Tatu wa fasihi ya Kiswahili ambao walizisoma hadithi fupi teule na kutathmini sifa za kibibliotherapia.Kazi hii iliongozwa na mihimili ya nadharia ya Mapatano ya Mwitikio wa Msomaji yake Rosenblatt (1995). The Ottonian dynasty, whose members ruled Germany and northern Italy in the tenth and early eleventh centuries, were not only concerned with their eastern borders and their relations with Byzantium, but also sought news from and alliances with the West. Inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula informed the ideas of the Ottonian court in a number of ways and contemporaries documented the interactions. Hrotsvitha, a canoness in the Ottonian royal monastery of Gandersheim, recorded the martyrdom of a young Spanish Christian, Pelagius, who met his death at Cordoba in 925. Hrotsvitha wrote that she had come by her account from an eyewitness. John of Gorze performed the office of ambassador for Otto I at the court of the caliph 'Abd al-Rahmān III at Cordoba for three years from 953. Otto sent John to negotiate access to the Alpine passes that were thought to be raided by Andalusians who were located at Fraxinetum and who were controlled by the caliph. Liudprand of Cremona (Ottonian court) and Recemund (court of al-Andalus) were on friendly terms. The Tumbo A at the cathedral of Santiago is a cartulary whose images of royal figures undoubtedly imitate Carolingian or Ottonian models. Little coordinated work has been done on the contacts between the Ottonians and their followers and the dwellers in the Iberian Peninsula. How friendly or hostile were they to each other? What were the physical and temporal barriers to successful contacts? Using texts and visual records, this paper brings to attention the reports of the cultural, economic, social, and political interactions between the Ottonian empire and the court of al-Andalus from their varied points of view.

In the first part of this paper, several basic ideas that prompted the coming of turbo codes are commented on. We then present some personal points of view on the main advances obtained in past years on turbo coding and decoding such as the circular trellis termination of recursive systematic convolutional codes and double-binary turbo codes associated with Max-Log-MAP decoding. A novel evaluation method, called genieinitialised iterative processing (GIIP), is introduced to assess the error performance of iterative processing. We show that using GIIP produces a result that can be viewed as a lower bound of the maximum likelihood iterative decoding and detection performance. Finally, two wireless communication systems are presented to illustrate recent applications of the turbo principle, the first one being multiple-input/multiple-output channel iterative detection and the second one multi-carrier modulation with linear precoding.

Pada sistem komunikasi digital, dibutuhkan sistem penyandian kanal yang berfungsi untuk meminimalkan efek kerusakan atau hilangnya informasi yang diakibatkan oleh derau di dalam kanal. Sistem penyandian kanal yang baik memiliki nilai Bit Error Rate (BER) yang kecil. Penyandi Turbo merupakan salah satu teknik penyandian kanal pengoreksi galat dengan penggunaan dua sandi komponen yang dihubungkan secara paralel baik pada penyandi maupun pengawasandi. Pada penelitian ini, dilaporkan perbandingan nilai BER beberapa jenis Penyandi Turbo yang terdiri dari Turbo Konvolusional, Turbo Block dan Turbo Gabungan berdasarkan jumlah iterasi yang dilakukan, efek puncturing serta kanal yang dilalui oleh isyarat dari pengirim menuju penerima. Dari hasil simulasi, secara umum Turbo konvolusional memiliki kinerja yang paling baik dibandingkan dengan Turbo Block dan Turbo Gabungan pada setiap nilai iterasi, pada data tersandi dengan dan tanpa efek puncturing maupun pada setiap kanal yang dilewati. Kinerja BER semua jenis penyandi mengalami perbaikan ketika proses iterasi ditingkatkan. Sementara itu efek puncturing akan menurunkan kinerja Penyandi Turbo. Pada kanal AWGN, Turbo Konvolusional dapat mencapai nilai BER sebesar 0 saat Eb/N0 = 2 dB sedangkan Turbo Gabungan dan Turbo Block hanya mencapai 0,0087 dan 0,0155. Pada kanal berderau AWGN yang ditambah multipath Rayleigh fading, Turbo Konvolusional pada Eb/N0 = 2 dB tetap memiliki kinerja yang paling baik dengan nilai BER sebesar 0,0114 sementara Turbo Gabungan dan Turbo Block dengan nilai BER 0,0458 dan 0,0163.

There are to two groups of turbo roundabouts used currently in Poland. The first group is turbo roundabouts with geometry and traffic organization designed following the model of Dutch turbo roundabouts with raised lane dividers. The other group is turbo roundabouts with traffic organization which entirely or partly corresponds to traffic organization of conventional turbo roundabouts, but with lane dividers not present, with their function performed by a single continuous line of P-2 type. Turbo roundabouts in the world are considered as solutions which are characterized by a high level of road safety and allow for effective flow at substantial traffic intensities. The data about turbo roundabouts in Poland analysed by the author show that there are substantially more turbo roundabouts without raised lane dividers. The paper attempts to answer to the question of whether turbo roundabouts with lane dividers in the form of a single continuous line ensure the appropriate level of road safety. Furthermore, the comparison of the level of road safety in turbo roundabouts equipped in raised lane dividers with turbo roundabouts with lane separators in the form of continuous line revealed that turbo roundabouts with raised lane dividers are safer solutions than turbo roundabouts with traffic lane dividers in the form of continuous line.

This research aimed to test the validity of the feasibility of traditional game learning media on salt hydrolysis. This research was development research (R&D) with a qualitative descriptive approach. This research uses the ADDIE model development design, which consists of 5 (five) stages, namely (1) analysis, (2) design, (3) development, (4) implementation, and (5) evaluation. Data collection techniques in this study used a validation sheet for the assessment of the feasibility of tumbu-tumbu learning media. The tumbu-tumbu learning media validation wass assessed by 4 expert validators, namely 2 chemistry lecturers of State University of Gorontalo material experts, 1 media expert lecturer, and 1 high school chemistry teacher. The results of the validation of tumbu-tumbu learning media development obtained an average percentage 0f 89.40%, which was categorized in very feasible criteria. Therefore, the tumbu-tumbu learning media are highly usable in the learning process of salt hydrolysis.

This paper investigates the decoding of turbo codes in impulsive symmetric α-stable (SαS) noise. Due to the nonexistence of a closed-form expression for the probability density function (pdf) of α-stable processes, numerical-based SαS pdf is used to derive branch transition probability (btp) for the maximum a posteriori turbo decoder. Results show that in Gaussian noise, the turbo decoder achieves similar performance using both the conventional and the proposed btps, but in impulsive channels, the turbo decoder with the proposed btp substantially outperforms the turbo decoder utilizing the conventional btp. Results also confirm that the turbo decoder incorporating the proposed btp outperforms the existing Cauchy-based turbo decoder in non-Cauchy impulsive noise, while the two decoders accomplish similar performance in Cauchy noise.

Both reliability and security are two important subjects in modern digital communications, each with a variety of subdisciplines. In this paper we introduce a new proposed secure turbo coding system which combines chaotic dynamics and turbo coding reliability together. As we utilize the chaotic maps as a tool for hiding and securing the coding design in turbo coding system, this proposed system model can provide both data secrecy and data reliability in one process to combat problems in an insecure and unreliable data channel link. To support our research, we provide different schemes to design a chaotic secure reliable turbo coding system which we call chaotic-switched turbo coding schemes. In these schemes the design of turbo codes chaotically changed depending on one or more chaotic maps. Extensions of these chaotic-switched turbo coding schemes to half-duplex relay systems are also described. Results of simulations of these new secure turbo coding schemes are compared to classical turbo codes with the same coding parameters and the proposed system is able to achieve secured reasonable bit error rate performance when it is made to switch between different puncturing and design configuration parameters especially with low switching rates.

298 Background: Since transurethral resection of bladder tumor in one piece (TURBO) was reported in the Journal of Urology in 2000 by Ukai, some urologists carried out TURBO. We analyzed treatment results of TURBO in our hospital and examined the value of this procedure, especially for the pathological findings, recurrence and necessity of second TUR for TURBO. Methods: A total of 14 patients with bladder tumors carried out TURBO under spinal anesthesia, in some cases blocking the obtulater nerve, from April 2006 to June 2009 in our hospital. All cases were followed for over 1 year. The procedure is 1. point marking; 2. circular incision; 3. level incision; and 4. specimen retrieval using a needle electrode in accordance with the Ukai's method. We investigated pathological findings (margin situation), operation time, complications and recurrence. Results: It is possible to diagnose the precise pathlogical findings by TURBO. We judged the width and depth ew in sequential section. There were no complications during and after the operation. Operation time of TURBO (35–170 min) was longer than TUR-BT. Urethral catheter holding period and hospitalization period after TURBO was the same as TUR-BT. TURBO is a relatively safe procedure even for beginners. 5 cases had a recurrence in 13 cases. 2 cases had a recurrence in under 1 year, but the locations were other places. One case had a same place recurrence after 13 months. There were no cases of same place recurrence in under 1 year among margin-negative cases. Therfore we judged that ew-negative cases had no residual cancers. Conclusions: TURBO is a safe and useful procedure that provides precise pathological findings with minimal complications. Second TUR is not necessary for TURBO. TURBO has a possibility to be gold standard of the treatment for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. No significant financial relationships to disclose.

This paper presents three approaches for isentropic, energy, and exergy evaluations of a low-duty liquid natural gas (LNG) vapor turbo compressor during exploitation on a conventional LNG carrier. The evaluation was conducted on the measured performance parameters under 22 various turbo compressor operating regimes. The turbo compressor performance was evaluated in the temperature span from −69 to −105 °C and during changes in the rpm of the main propulsion turbine and, consequently, the main boiler load. The results show that the highest measured turbo compressor isentropic efficiency is in agreement with the manufacturer specifications, equaling 75.23% at a main propulsion turbine rpm of 53.5. At the highest measured loads and rpm, the turbo compressor energy and exergy efficiencies reach the highest values of 57.81% and 28.51%, respectively. In each observed operating regime, the influence of the ambient temperature change on the turbo compressor exergy efficiency was investigated. At the lowest and the highest measured loads, turbo compressor energy and exergy flow streams are presented in a Sankey diagram. Techniques for cargo temperature maintenance during the ship voyage are presented, as the results show that low suction gas temperatures influence turbo compressor efficiency.

This paper gives a general overview of the implementation aspects of turbo decoders. Although the parallel architecture of the turbo code is emphasized, the serial concatenated convolutional codes for the turbo decoder are discussed too. Considering the general structure of iterative decoders, the main features of the soft input and soft output algorithm, which are the heart of a turbo decoder, are observed. The efficient parallel architectures of turbo decoders are shown which allow high speed implementation. Apart from these, implementation aspects like quantization issues and stopping rules to increase the throughput as well as an evaluation of the various turbo decoders are discussed. Finally, we suggest a number of solutions to overcome the implementation issues as well as the complexities without affecting the high throughput rate.
