Deception-detection is the crux of Turing’s experiment to examine machine thinking conveyed through a capacity to respond with sustained and satisfactory answers to unrestricted questions put by a human interrogator. The gas turbine has an important role for the energy distribution due to its stability and flexibility. By increasing turbine inlet temperature (TIT) an increased thermal efficiency of the turbine can be achieved. The biggest limitation of the TIT is the material of the turbine components. To avoid this limitation, cooling is needed in the first stages of the turbine by air from the compressor. The downside of the cooling is the decrease of efficiency with excess of cooling air. To achieve an optimum cooling flow, the designing process is important. One major tool in the designing process is s

Abstract:
Currently the whole Italian industry suffers the competition from emerging markets. All the social partners realized that our low-tech products and know-how are unlikely to be competitive in comparison with those produced at lower cost in other emerging countries. Historically, the Italian metalworking and mechanical engineering industry, and in particular the construction sector as complex welded pressure vessels, large structures for civil and shipbuilding, is considered among the best and the most famous in the world, this is because our products are recognized as being of excellent overall

Abstract:
This work describes the outcome of research program investigating thrust measurements in enclosed test facility for modern aero gas turbine engines. Literature work, experimental work and a description of Computational fluid dynamics simulation system have been developed to improve the accuracy of test bed thrust measurement. The key parameters covered in the research include test house size in relation to engine size. The effect of the distance of engine to detuner on the thrust correction factor was also investigated. The rule of loss mechanism within the test facility to include intake mome

FONTANETO, Fabrizio. "Aero-thermal performance of a film-cooled high pressure turbine blade/vane: a test case for numerical codes validation." Doctoral thesis, Università degli studi di Bergamo, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/10446/30755.

Abstract:
The present thesis concentrates on the experimental activity carried in the frame of two different measurement campaigns aiming to create an experimental test-case for turbomachinery codes validation. The first experimental activity was carried out at the University of Bergamo and dealt with the characterization of the aero-thermal performance of a film-cooled high pressure turbine rotor blade. Aerodynamic measurements, performed by means of a 5-hole miniaturized pressure probe, evidenced a marked asymmetry of the secondary flows between the upper and the lower semi-channels. Injection seemed
