Abstract:
This study attempts to investigate the effects of Turkish drama on University students. Drama plays influential role in changing life style of its audience. Through drama viewers come to know the diverse values of different cultures and it has a different effect on different audience. University level students are more expose to media especially with television drama and current study is an attempt to gauge the effects of Turkish drama on youth. The students of Punjab University Lahore, GC University Faisalabad, University of Gujrat and The Islamia University of Bahawalpur are selected as respondents. The study is qualitative and quantitative in nature and non-probability sampling technique is used for data collection. Questionnaires were distributed in 400 respondents and hypotheses were also constituted to envisage the general perception. The data collected through questionnaire accepted two hypothesis while on of the hypothesis was rejected. The study finding states that Turkish dramas are good source of entertainment but these dramas are not challenging basic teachings of Islam and it has made no effects on our norms. On the basis of findings, suitable recommendations are suggested.

Abstract:
Research on the speech act of compliment is abundant; however, studies on the characteristics of compliments in Turkish, in general, and in Turkish TV dramas, in particular, are scarce. Therefore, to fill this research gap, the present study set out to investigate the use of compliments in a popular Turkish soap opera. To achieve the purposes of this research, thirty-two episodes of a TV drama called Sahra were selected at random to be viewed and analyzed while focusing on the topics, functions, and characteristics of compliments with reference to the role of gender. Four main topics and functions, and two major characteristics of Turkish compliments emerged from the analysis of the data. Similarities and differences were also found in the use of compliments in Turkish and other languages. The findings may have implications for research on speech acts, in general, and complimenting behavior in TV dramas, in particular.Keywords: Turkish compliments; TV drama; elaboration; exaggeration; gender

Turkey’s TV drama industry has made a quantum leap in the past decade and exported many of its dramas (dizis) to more than a hundred countries. Turkey has become the world’s second-biggest TV drama exporter after the USA in 2016. The dizi industry’s transnationalization is attributable to the tireless efforts and unique features of its associated creative industry. However, the industry has some deep problems. This paper seeks to shed light on the challenges that the Turkish TV drama industry faces. The author has conducted in-depth interviews with Producers, Directors, Scenarists, Actors and Distributors. Their replies reveal the basic characteristics and difficulties of the dizi industry and provide clues as to what needs to be done to sustain and build upon the Turkish TV drama industry’s export success.

Since the mid-2000s, Turkish television drama series have been exported to many countries and attracted an unprecedented transnational audience. However, despite popularity, there is paucity of research focusing on the transnational understanding(s) of Turkish television drama audiences in different geographies. Through a reception analysis of three mostly cited television series among participants Muhteşem Yüzyıl (Magnificent Century), Aşk-ı Memnu (Forbidden Love), Kuzey Güney (North South), this study aimed at offering an understanding beyond overly stated cultural/religious proximity explanations to ascertain traces and elements of empowerment that citizens feel coming through their act of consuming Turkish dramas. For that purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with Iranian viewers of Turkish television series living in the Austrian capital Vienna. Interpretation of that collected qualitative material suggests re-thinking of the transnational audience’s consumption practices that expand tourism and trade flows and other related businesses between the two countries.

Abstract
 Traditional Turkish drama, which reflects the Turkish culture in the best manner and ensures that this culture is transferred to the next generation, helps the transfer of customs and traditions, as well as many elements such as language and religion which belong to the Turkish culture, in a humoristic and entertaining manner. In order to save cultural values from being forgotten and ensuring that the new generation adopts these values, it is beneficial to teach the features and works of traditional Turkish drama to the new generation. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the traditional Turkish drama is given adequate place in Turkish language curriculum and, on the other hand, the extent to which Turkish language teachers cover the characteristics and works of traditional Turkish drama in their classes. Our study group consists of 40 Turkish language teachers with minimum 10 years of experience at secondary schools in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. An interview for consisting of 5 questions was used in order to collect data. The data acquired in the end of the study were analyzed using content analysis, frequency and percentage. As a result of the findings, it has been found out that a majority of Turkish language teachers stated that information and application related to traditional Turkish drama were given inadequate place in Turkish language curriculum and that they agreed that all genres related to this drama, namely Karagöz, encomiast, puppets, light comedy, country theatrical lays should be taught to the students.

Abstract:
Teachers need to have a positive opinion and competence for the thought or knowledge they plan to convey in any acquisition. It is important to determine the opinions and competencies of the teachers about the creative drama method in order to successfully complete the creative drama processes, which is an effective practice in Turkish education, and for teachers to apply creative drama as a method in their professional lives. Therefore, in this study, it is aimed to determine the competencies of Turkish teachers about creative drama method and their views on creative drama. The study group of the research consisted of 60 teachers who were active Turkish teachers in the province of Balikesir in the 2022-2023 academic year. A two-question structured interview form developed by the researcher was used as a data collection tool in the study, in which the basic interpretive qualitative research design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive analysis technique. According to the results obtained from the research, Turkish teachers do not see themselves in a good position in terms of proficiency in applying creative drama as a method. However, they expressed a positive opinion on their contribution to the Turkish lesson and students regarding the application of creative drama as a method. In addition, they said that they could benefit from creative drama practices in Turkish lessons such as expressing themselves in groups, developing communication skills, helping each other, developing positive relationships, cooperating, accepting each other as they are, and creating sincere environments. Abstract:
This article explores how young Qatari audiences perceive authenticity in Turkish television dramas. The concepts of authenticity and realism are used as analytical tools to examine empirical findings from twenty focus group discussions with students, in 2016 and 2017. The results reveal that young Qataris see Turkish serials as offering a more authentic representation of real life than local and regional television serials. Although Turkish drama serials do not provide a window into actual life within Turkish society, they are perceived as offering a realistic depiction of characters and storylines representing Turkey’s social life and culture. This article establishes that Turkish serials’ dubbing into a colloquial Syrian dialect has heightened audience experience of authenticity. The fact that Turkish dramas were created against the backdrop of a Muslim country with significant ethnic and cultural similarities further elevated the Arab audiences’ perception of authenticity.

Abstract:
The article considers the Turkish radio drama as a genre variety of modern  Turkish drama, its genesis, formation and development in the modern literary  ground. Particular attention is focused on the radio plays by authors such as Zeynep Unal, Hasan Erkek, Ulku Ayvaz, fragments Turkish radio plays are first  introduced in the sphere of literary. Achievements of these authors attempt to  show the modern Turkish playwrights, to draw attention to the need to preserve  radiodrama preventing giving it a status of margins. Given the fact that the modern Turkish drama is a little-studied problem and  Ukrainian oriental studies are the part of Turkish culture, the proposed study  aims to fill certain gaps in this area. Consideration of the genre specificity of  modern Turkish drama and radiodrama in particular in this study has created  favorable conditions for the further study of the general change in the culture  of the era, defining the role of national traditions in the worldview of the Turks,  the implementation of a comparative analysis of the works of writers designated  with the stamp of individuality.

Abstract:
This article discusses the emergence of Turkish serial dramas as a site for contestation over the impact of Islamic modernity on Malay women in contemporary Malaysia. Despite its popularity among Malay women, Turkish serial drama has been criticized for misleading and confusing the audience about Islamic history, faith, culture and civilization. The controversy over this television genre raises the question of how Malay women, constrained within their position of being female subjects of the state, manage to circumvent the authorities and watch this Turkish serial drama. They are not supposed to challenge social norms, moral propriety, cultural identity and the state vision of modernity. Therefore, this article argues that although Malay women exhibit excitement towards this television genre, they consistently use Islamic knowledge to develop watching skills and become more sceptical as well as competent in interpreting popular Islamic texts. The findings also show that Islam in the Malay world is culturally diverse, progressive and flexible.

Por un poco más de cuatro décadas, la televisión peruana llenó las pantallas de su señal abierta de contenido de ficción proveniente de Brasil, Argentina, Venezuela y sobre todo México, quien lidera el mundo de las telenovelas hasta la fecha. Es en 2015 que aparece en nuestro país la primera telenovela proveniente de Turquía, país que nunca antes había estado en la mira de ninguna de las parrillas de programación televisiva nacional e incluso latinoamericana. Desde su arribo, estos contenidos cautivaron a una audiencia “telenovelera”, quien optó por compartir su gusto por Marimares, Oyukis y Rosas Salvajes1 , para dar paso a Onur y su consorte Sherezade, alcanzando niveles de sintonía que superaron en 27% a lo alcanzado en la misma franja el año anterior (Fuente: IBOPE). Este incremento y alcance de audiencia nueva, es un comportamiento inusual dentro de una programación regular, a menos que se realicen transmisiones especiales, tales como eventos deportivos de la talla de un Mundial de fútbol. El objetivo de este estudio es intentar explicar el atractivo de estos productos turcos en el mercado peruano, que se intuía tan distante culturalmente de Turquía, como los kilómetros que separan a ambos países. Se estudiará puntualmente el caso de la telenovela “Las mil y una noches”, al ser la primera en llegar a Perú, con un éxito indiscutible. El enfoque que le asignaremos a esta investigación será netamente cualitativo, con el objetivo de dar sentido y explicación a esta suerte de “fenómeno” televisivo y su respectivo engagement con el espectador, a través del análisis narrativo de la telenovela, la construcción de sus personajes y su lenguaje audiovisual.<br>For over four decades, Peruvian free TV filled the screens of its signal of fiction content from Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and especially Mexico, who leads the world of soap operas till to date. It is in 2015 that the first soap opera from Turkey appears in our country, a country that had never before been targeted by any of the national and even Latin American television programming. Since their arrival, these contents captivated a “telenovelera” audience, who chose to share their taste for Marimares, Oyukis and Wild Roses, to give way to Onur and her consort Sherezade, reaching tuning levels that exceeded 27% to what was achieved in the same period last year (Source: IBOPE). This increase and reach of new audience, is an unusual behavior within a regular programming, unless special transmissions are made, such as sporting events of the size of a World Cup. The objective of this study is to try to explain the attractiveness of these Turkish products in the Peruvian market, which was perceived as culturally distant from Turkey, as the kilometers that separate both countries. The case of the soap opera “The thousand and one nights” will be studied promptly, being the first to arrive in Peru, with an unquestionable success. The approach that we will assign to this research will be purely qualitative, with the aim of giving meaning and explanation to this kind of television “phenomenon” and its respective engagement with the viewer, through the narrative analysis of the soap opera, the construction of its characters and its audiovisual language.<br>Tesis

Abstract:
This thesis is an attempt to analyze the discourse of &ldquo<br>Valley of Wolves&rdquo<br>, a television serial which gained a significant popularity in recent years. To understand the serial&rsquo<br>s discourse I have first analyzed the general aspects of the narrative and approached to it as a televisual text. Concerning the political discourse two arguments, both connected to nationalism, is provided. First one concerns the psychology of the serial. Psychological mechanisms that the serial make use of is similar to Adorno&rsquo<br>s insights concerning fascism which may be formulated as &ldquo<br>acknowledgement of the weakness, identification with the victor&rdquo<br>. The serial interpellates weak ordinary citizens who are impotent in front of powerful conspirators, and invites him to identify with the hero who is able to save him from these malicious uncontrollable forces. Nationalism constitutes the kernel of this psychology. Nation is the community of simple-minded ordinary people free of conflict: its inner harmony is disturbed only by external forces through conspiracies. In that respect, the serial depends on the logic of conspiracy and xenophobia. Secondly, the serial overtly advocates &ldquo<br>deep state&rdquo<br>, that is the break-down between legality and legitimacy as far as &ldquo<br>the survival of the state&rdquo<br>is concerned. It has sympathy for traditional mafia, but it essentially backs up illegal activities on behalf of state. Thereby, irt articulates a nationalist mentality and carries some important features of the Turkish Nationalism.
