AbstractThis article will study the new face of Conservative Euroscepticism in the House of Commons, with a special focus on the 2015 intake of MPs who were supposedly ‘less stale, male and pale’ and their attitudes to the British referendum on the EU. In this respect, this article will also take a specific interest in new Conservative Black and Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME) MPs who turned out to be more active on the ‘leave’ side of the referendum campaign, thus serving as a showcase for the party's strategy of ‘decontaminating’ the Brexit brand and its hyperglobalist geopolitical perspective.

Abstract:
Novel interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) composed of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (poly-NIPAM) and polyethers—namely, polyethylene glycol (PEG) and poly(tetramethylene oxide)—were synthesized in the absence and presence of polysiloxane containing a silanol residue. Gelation was accomplished using end-capped polyethers with trimethoxysilyl moieties and proceeded through simultaneous radical gelation of NIPAM and condensation of the silyl groups to form siloxane linkages. Thus, a novel one-step method constructing an IPN structure was provided. The obtained IPNs showed a gentle temperature-responsive volume change in water owing to the constructed poly-NIPAM gel component. In addition, a specific color-change response to chemical stimuli, such as CuCl2 and AgNO3 in water, was observed only when both components of poly-NIPAM and PEG existed in a gel form. For example, a single network gel composed of poly-NIPAM or PEG was isolated as a pale blue hydrogel, whereas IPNs composed of poly-NIPAM and PEG components turned yellow after swelling in an aqueous CuCl2 solution (0.1 M, pale blue). Dual-responsive functionalities of the synthesized hydrogels to temperature and metal salts, along with volume and color changes, were demonstrated.

When invited to write this retrospective review, I turned to my library shelves to pick up once moreThe Search for Order, 1877–1920.My faded paperback copy has a striking image of a railroad track, peeling off into the distance, past a mine site, and then disappearing over the horizon. The colors are shades of red, a black tinged in the glow of red, and a pale pink sky. The scene conveys both an unsettling alarm at the turmoil of society in the coloration, and a binding process through the railroad. I have just discovered that Saul Lambert (a noted illustrator) drew this evocative scene for Hill and Wang, and the job was exceedingly well done.

Abstract:
A knee arthroscopy in spinal anaesthesia was performed on a 67 years old male patient. During the procedure the patient was hemodynamically stable, until he suddenly turned pale and started complaining of severe pain in lower abdomen with signs of guarding. The procedure was finished as urgently as possible and after releasing the tourniquet we noticed significant difference in volume of the leg, with redness distal to tourniquet. Urgent lab results were essentially unremarkable and the patient was sent for the urgent radiological diagnostics. CD of the left leg described fluid in the soft tissues of the thigh, scrotum, and abdomen; and the unenhanced CT of the abdomen showed free fluid along the entire femoral shaft of the left thigh, extending towards pelvis and abdomen to perihepatic and perisplenic space, and retroperitoneum, with gas bubbles tracking along anterior aspect of the left thigh into the left retroperitoneum. He was admitted to the ICU, and within few hours all symptoms have resolved and his further recovery was without complications.

Where is the Commander? The death motif in the context of nonpresence of the Stone Guest in works by Tadeusz Miciński Przy grobie Don Juana Tenorio [By the grave of Don Juan Tenorio] and Bolesław Leśmian Zbladła twarz Don Żuana, gdy w ulicznym mroku [Don Juan’s face turned pale] The story of don Juan, persistently retold by many poets, seems to be only a pretext for showing the problem of presence/absence of Commander and, as a consequence, death motif in the Tadeusz Miciński and Bolesław Leśmian’ s poems. In the don Juan Tenorio history’s final fragments, the Stone Guest was coming to call for don Juan’s conversion. On the seducer’s incessant refusals and rebelling against the laws set by God and society, the Stone Guest was killing him. Don Juan de Maraña, by contrast, has decided to enter a convent — Commander has reclaimed the sinner. In my article I would like to present the motif of death, love, pride, punishment and conversion in two Young Poland’s poems and I would like to describe these problems considering the époque’s esthetic and cultural dimension.

Abstract:
Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goidanich can cause serious yield losses in several plant species. Investigations were made on the colony morphology of fifty Macrophomina phaseolina isolates from Hungary, one from Spain and two from Serbia on six different culture media to detect differences between the isolates. The fungus exhibited the most intensive growth on maize-flour agar, followed by the Sabouraud-glucose, maltextract, potato-dextrose, Czapek-Dox and watery agar media. Investigations on the macromorphology of the isolates revealed different extents of aerial mycelia formation and differences in the zonal structure of microsclerotial formation on the individual media. One isolate (Mp 38) turned the Sabouraud-glucose agar medium pale pink. Investigations on the micromorphology of the cultures showed that the isolates also varied with respect to microsclerotial characters (size, shape and production of microsclerotia). The microsclerotia of this fungal pathogen had the greatest diameter (averaging 135.31 μm) on Sabouraud-glucose agar medium. This study was the first in Hungary to prove that Macrophomina phaseolina could be grown on nutrient-deficient watery agar, suggesting that it can tolerate a wide range of ecological circumstances.

Karaca, Aykut. "Post-miocene Deformation Of The Area Between Alibey (kizilcahamam) And Karalar (kazan) Villages, Nw Ankara (turkey)." Master's thesis, METU, 2004. http://etd.lib.metu.edu.tr/upload/3/12605432/index.pdf.

Full text
Abstract:
The study area is located within the Neogene-Quaternary sequences on top of the Mesozoic accreted mass at the northwest of Kazan (40 km NW of Ankara) between Karalar and Alibey villages. The research deals with the post-Miocene deformational history of an area situated at the southern edge of Galatian Volcanic Province. Two main Neogene rock sequences are cropped out
1) Late Miocene Pazar Formation, 2) Plio-Quaternary Sinap Formation. The Pazar Formation has a succession composed mainly of clastics at the bottom and, cherts and limestones to the top of the sequence representing a fresh water lake environment. Sedimentation seems to be affected by the intense volcanism going on in the Galatian Volcanic Province. Location of a mammalian fossil found in the Pazar Formation yielded a possible time interval between MN-9 to MN-13 (Middle to Late Miocene). Sinap Formation overlies the Pazar Formation unconformably and it is dominantly represented by fluvial clastics. The post-Miocene deformational studies based on the analysis of the structural data collected from bedding planes and fault planes. Totally 213 dip-strike measurements from the Neogene units and 204 slip lineation data from the fault planes were taken. Fold analysis of dip and strike measurements taken from the Pazar Formation gave a common fold axis trending in N430E direction. Similarly fold analysis for the Sinap Formation resulted N400E striking trend for the fold axis. Stress analysis was performed by processing slip lineation data using Angelier direct inversion method. In the analysis, no reliable results for the post-Miocene compressional phase could be obtained. But the results of the post-Plio-Quaternary extensional regime are strongly reliable. It clearly gives an extension in NW-SE direction. Stress analysis together with the field observations show that the area has been structurally evolved in several phases of deformation. The NW-SE to N-S-directed post-Miocene compressional event is followed by a regional extension operating since Plio-Quaternary.

Ganioglu, Aytul. "Sequencing, Pace And Timing Of Financial Liberalization Process In Turkey With Implications On The Macroeconomic Environment." Phd thesis, METU, 2006. http://etd.lib.metu.edu.tr/upload/3/12607124/index.pdf.

Full text
Abstract:
This study basically analyzes timing, sequencing and pace of the financial liberalization experience of the Turkish economy in the 1980s and evaluates its implications for the crises in the Turkish economy since the 1990s. The objectives of this study are threefold: Firstly, it aims to reveal the main policy objectives and political factors pushing the government to take capital account liberalization decision in 1989. It is concluded that domestic decision makers have shaped and taken the decision of capital account liberalization in 1989, while the interaction of economic and political factors has played a major role in its timing. Secondly, it examines the extent to which economic and political institutional weaknesses in the Turkish economy, which generated inappropriate sequencing of financial liberalization policies in the 1980s, can be held responsible for the crises of 2000 and 2001 crises. It is concluded that financial liberalization policies were inappropriately sequenced, as domestic financial market and capital account liberalization were not accompanied or preceded by macroeconomic stability and financial sector institutional reforms such as prudential regulation and supervision of the banking sector. These factors have been instrumental in the crises episodes in Turkey through contributing to an environment conducive to crises. Thirdly, it aims to analyze whether there exists a clear association between weaknesses in the regulation and supervision of the banking sector and banking crises through an empirical analysis. It is concluded that the nature of the banking crises is more associated with the institutional structure of the financial system rather than macroeconomic conditions of the economy.

McGowan, Shane G. "Haunting the House, Haunting the Page: The Spectral Governess in Victorian Fiction." Digital Archive @ GSU, 2011. http://digitalarchive.gsu.edu/english_theses/119.

Full text
Abstract:
The Victorian governess occupied a difficult position in Victorian society. Straddling the line between genteel and working-class femininity, the governess did not fit neatly into the rigid categories of gender and class according to which Victorian society organized itself. This troubling liminality caused the governess to become implicitly associated with another disturbing domestic presence caught between worlds: the Victorian literary ghost. Using Henry James’s novella The Turn of the Screw as a touchstone for each chapter, this thesis examines how the spectral mirrors the governess’s own spectrality – that is, her own discursive construction as a psychosocially unsettling force within the Victorian domestic sphere.

Berenhaus, Molly. "'Like a sound of a page being turned in a book' : an exploration of the embodied strategies and subjective experiences that contribute to successful reading comprehension in both children and adults." Thesis, University of Sussex, 2018. http://sro.sussex.ac.uk/id/eprint/73555/.

Full text
Abstract:
The main aims of the current doctoral thesis included: (1) comparing the impact of different embodiment (manipulation versus enactment) and (2) perspective-taking strategies on children (9 to 10-year-olds) and adults' (18 to 30-year-olds) comprehension of narrative texts. In addition, we aimed to (3) better understand children's subjective experience (e.g., “What's going in your head while reading x?”) while reading normally; e.g., at home or in the classroom. Chapter 2 investigated the benefits of storyboard construction (SB), i.e., creating a visual representation of a narrative text using plastic cut-outs, on 5 children's comprehension monitoring and story recall. We found that children who constructed a storyboard while reading remembered more of the narrative texts versus business-as-usual controls and formed more coherent narratives during recall. Contrary to previous research (Rubman & Waters, 2000), SB had no positive impact on children's comprehension monitoring ability. Chapter 3 included a subset (25 out of 35) of children from Chapter 2 and aimed to capture the nuances of children's experience while reading normally and how those experiences map onto comprehension performance. We found that children who reported taking the perspective of a story's character (either spatially, emotionally and/or cognitively), while reading normally, performed better on measures from Chapter 1 (e.g., coherence of recall) than children who did not. Chapter 3 presented a yearlong, longitudinal training study, which compared the immediate and long-term benefits of SB and Active Experiencing (AE), the act of becoming fully engrossed in communicating a text to another person, on children in Year 5's literal and inferential comprehension of emotion and spatial information in narrative texts. SB was found to improve children's story recall and performance on spatial-based questions immediately after training compared to other conditions (AE and controls). The benefits of SB training on recall continued three and six months later. In addition, AE training improved children's performance on emotion-based questions, but only immediately after training. Finally, Chapter 4 first (Experiment 1) examined the effects of encouraging young adults to imagine themselves performing the actions of a protagonist or feeling what the protagonist is feeling (to empathise) while reading excerpts from Dubliners by James Joyce on their comprehension and emotional arousal. Empathising with the protagonist was found to increase readers' arousal, an indication of emotional reactivity. To follow up, we next measured the effects of encouraging young adults (Experiment 2) and children (Experiment 3) to empathise (feel what the character is feeling) or sympathise (care about how the character is feeling) with a story's protagonist while reading on a variety of inferential and literal comprehension questions. Young adults encouraged to sympathise with a story's protagonist had a particular advantage on comprehending literal emotion information about the protagonist as well as non-emotional, non-character-focused inferential and literal information. There was no effect of perspective-taking prompt on children's comprehension.

Delile, Hugo. "Signatures des paléo-pollutions et des paléo-environnements dans les archives sédimentaires des ports antiques de Rome et d’Éphèse." Thesis, Lyon 2, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014LYO20065/document.

Abstract:
Rome and Ephesus are two iconic harbor cities of the ancient Mediterranean; the first was the center of the Roman Empire and the second became the Roman capital of Asia Minor at the end of the 1st c. BC. The economic and commercial influence of these two ports in the Mediterranean depended heavily on their harbor systems. The aim of this study is to discern the economic development of Rome and Ephesus from the geochemical signals of the pollution they were exposed to. To this end, we drilled cores through the sedimentary archives of the two ancient harbors and measured major and trace element concentrations and Pb isotope compositions. Both harbors were subject to delta progradation, Rome by the Tiber and Ephesus by the Caÿster, which changed the aquatic environments from being initially open and well oxygenated to becoming closed and anoxic. The harbor basins finally shut down for shipping when an epilimnic system came into place due to too shallow a depth of the water column. Although changing environmental conditions and multiple dredgings appear to have altered some parts of the geochemical record, the pollution levels of lead quite accurately reflect the state of the economic health of Rome and Ephesus, which evolved the most during periods of prosperity and disorder. Pb isotope data, converted into geological parameters (Tmod, μ and к), further allowed deducing the provenance of the geological sources of lead ores at the origin of the pollution. Based on these results, it appears that lead ore supplies during the Roman period were of local origins, reflecting how Rome and Ephesus dominated the surrounding economic areas with which they were in contact. However, while the beginning of the Middle Ages is accompanied by a decline of Rome, Ephesus regains its past prosperity with the importation of Hercynian lead from western Europe. It was produced massively as a result of the medieval economic revolution that Europe experienced from the 10th century onward

Full text
Abstract:
Actually, the Doubly Fed Induction Generators (DFIG) are omnipresent in the wind power market, owing to their construction simplicity, their low purchase cost and their mechanical robustness. However, as any other electrical machine, these generators are subject to defects of different order (electrical, mechanical, electromagnetic ...) or of different type (sensor, actuator or system). That’s why, it is important to design an effective diagnostic approach, able to early detect, locate and identify any defect or abnormal behavior, which could undermine the healthy operation of this machine On the one hand, motivated by the observer-based fault diagnosis methods strengths, we proposed, in this thesis, a diagnostic approach for the faults detection, localization and identification of the DFIG used in variable speed wind turbine. This approach is based on the use of the efficient and widely used Kalman observers. The state estimation errors of the linear Kalman filter and the non-linear Kalman filters, named: The Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and the Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) are used as faults sensitive residuals. In order to avoid false alarms and to decouple faults from disturbances and noises, the faults detection is carried out by the analysis of the residuals generated, by the mean of statistical tests such as: Hinkley Page Test (PH) and DCS Test (Dynamic) Cumulative Sum). For the localization step in case of multiple and simultaneous faults, the Dedicated Observer scheme (DOS) and the Generalized Observer scheme (GOS) are applied. In addition, the fault level is determined in the fault identification step. Sensor faults, actuator and system faults of DFIG, are treated in this research work. On the other hand, a comparative study between the three Kalman observers proposed is performed. The comparison was done in terms of (1) the computation time, (2) the estimation accuracy, and (3) the convergence speed

Hansson, Clare. "Marian McPartland, jazz pianist : an overview of a musical career." Queensland University of Technology, 2006. http://eprints.qut.edu.au/16621/.

Full text
Abstract:
This, the first study at doctoral level of any white female jazz instrumentalist, provides an overview to the long, active and enduring musical career of British-born, New York-based jazz pianist, Marian McPartland (born 1918). For over six decades, besides being a pianist and a composer, she has been prominent in the professional roles of educator, writer, record producer and recording artist, radio broadcaster and advocate. The scope and impact of this multi-layered career are conveyed through the medium of a Website profiling significant aspects of her professional life through textual, aural and visual presentation. Although not claiming to be exhaustive, this Website brings together a comprehensive collection of data covering all aspects of Marian McPartland's career. Data have been gathered and collated from material in the public domain, and all such sources are acknowledged and referenced. The Website is navigable through three links at the bottom of the Home Page - 1) Historical Perspective; 2) Selected Analyses; and 3) Marian McPartland In Context. Part One of the Website provides access to Marian McPartland's various professional roles in jazz, as well as public profiles, and is consolidated by listings of support material. Part Two of the Website contains formal analyses of four of her compositions, each preceded by a short introduction. The analyses are based on scores transcribed from her recorded improvisations. A discussion of her stylistic approach follows the analyses. Part Three of the Website contextualizes Marian McPartland as a woman in jazz during its major historical and stylistic movements. An Introduction and a Conclusion provide the academic framework for this study. The Introduction outlines the rationale for the study, the dimensions of the study, the methodologies used, and the research process. The Conclusion provides critical commentary on Marian McPartland's musical career, and deductions are made about her significance in and contribution to jazz, based on the evidence presented in the Website. A CD of the entire Website completes the presentation of this thesis, included under Supplementary Material in the back pocket of the thesis. This overview of Marian McPartland's entire career makes an original contribution to knowledge on this jazz artist, and, in a broader sense, provides an important resource for future research in the area of jazz music and musicians.

The most common clinical symptom of handicaps is cervical marrow nerve, it’s because that the injury of spinal marrow will leads to handicap in his/her movements; thus, such people have to rely on high technology assistive devices . Currently, due to these assistive devices have to be imported from foreign countries, they are quite expensive. In addition, the maintenance and training will also increase the costs. Therefore, it is of great urgency that the high technology assistive devices have to be developed domestically. To better develop the handicap’s living assiative devices, it is necessary to take handicaps’ life needs and critical problems faced into consideration. The purpose of this study is to explore the design of Page Turner from the perspective of handicaps’ needs. By way of understanding handicaps’ functional demands for reading, Product model will be built up to provide handicaps more comfortable and convenience reading devices。 The research is to conduct questionnaire and observation method to users. The questionnaire adopt AIO (Activity, Interest, Opinion) scale method to inquiry into user behavior, attitude, and demands to conceive Page Tuner design. Afterwards, the prototype of Page Tuner was built up and then was proved by the real product. Then, the conclusions and suggestions were proposed accordingly. The findings of the handicap life style from testing objects and the demands for Page Tuner will be used for further related studies.

Abstract:
‘Every woman clutched her child, and every man turned pale at the very name of “Doone”’ John Ridd, an unsophisticated farmer, falls in love with the beautiful and aristocratic Lorna Doone, kidnapped as a child by the outlaw Doones on Exmoor. Ridd's rivalry with the villainous Carver Doone reaches a dramatic climax that will determine Lorna's future happiness. First published in 1869, Lorna Doone was praised by R. L. Stevenson and Thomas Hardy and has remained constantly in print. The novel has many aspects: it is a romance; a historical novel set at the time of the Monmouth Rebellion in the seventeenth century; and a new development in the pastoral tradition. Underneath an ostensibly idyllic evocation of rural bliss and tale of love and high adventure lies a solid defence of Victorian social values, and a hero whose self-doubt prompts him constantly to prove himself. ABOUT THE SERIES: For over 100 years Oxford World's Classics has made available the widest range of literature from around the globe. Each affordable volume reflects Oxford's commitment to scholarship, providing the most accurate text plus a wealth of other valuable features, including expert introductions by leading authorities, helpful notes to clarify the text, up-to-date bibliographies for further study, and much more.

She looked up from her book. How irritating all these old refrains on non-communication were! If we really want to communicate, we manage to do so more or less successfully. Not with everyone, of course, but with two or three people. André was sitting in the seat next to her, reading a thriller. She kept from him certain moods, some regrets, some little worries; doubtless he, too, had his own little secrets. But, by and large, there was nothing that they did not know about each other. She glanced through the plane window: dark forests and pale grassland stretching as far as one could see. How many times had they forged forward together, by train, by plane, by boat, sitting side by side, with books in their hands? There would still be many occasions when they would glide silently side by side over the sea, the earth and the air. This moment had the sweetness of a memory and the brightness of a promise. Were they thirty, or sixty? André’s hair had turned white quite early, and at one time the snowy white color that enhanced his fresh but matte complexion seemed stylish. It was still stylish. His skin had hardened and become lined, rather like old leather, but the smile at his mouth ...

Abstract:
The ancient Egyptians were the first to use a wedding ring as a symbol of love and fidelity. Bands were usually made from grass or hemp and worn on the fourth finger of the left hand, which was believed to include the vein that led directly to the heart. The circular shape of the ring—with no beginning and no end—represented eternal love. Over the centuries, societies throughout the world adapted the tradition to fit their own cultures. It was once customary in the United States for only the bride to wear a ring, but this changed during and after the marriage boom that followed World War II. The number of men wearing wedding bands more than quadrupled, and today, double-ring marriage ceremonies are the norm. None of the men in the group had anticipated that “until death do you part” would occur so early in his marriage. After their wives died, what their wedding rings symbolized, and what should be done with them, was far from clear. One evening as the group settled in, Joe reached toward the center of the table to pick out his sub and bag of chips when one of us (Don) noticed something different about his left hand. “Joe, you took off your ring.” All eyes turned to Joe’s left hand. A strip of pale white skin that had been shielded from the sun for nearly twenty years circled the base of his fourth finger. Before that moment, the men had never discussed the subject of wedding rings. The prospect of dating again had compelled Joe to make the change. “It’s not that I’m interested in anyone in particular. In fact, even thinking about going out with someone right now is kind of overwhelming. But, damn, I don’t want to be lonely for the rest of my life. I hope that someday I’ll feel for someone else the way I felt for Joy.” Joe took off his ring because he wanted to believe that one day that time would come.

Abstract:
This chapter considers the club numbers in Pal Joey, performed diegetically in either rehearsal or performance. These songs—“Chicago,” “That Terrific Rainbow,” and “Flower Garden of My Heart”—best characterize the sleazy atmosphere of the club; the first two are performed in Mike’s South Side Club, and the last in rehearsal at the aspirational Chez Joey. All three are excellent character numbers, and they’re meant to reflect poorly on the performers who sing and dance to them. Rodgers and Hart here faced an interesting dilemma: how might one write an effectively “bad” song that’s also entertaining in its own right? With help from O’Hara’s scathingly satirical dialogue, they turned their keen and critical eye toward the manners of cheap nightclubs and their patrons, balancing aural realism with carefully crafted social commentary. Their efforts resulted in some of the funniest numbers in the show.

Abstract:
This chapter discusses how biblical scholars have much to learn from what comics can reveal about the act of reading texts. Readers of the Christian Testament might find The Action Bible (2010), Marked (2005), and the “Gospel of Mark” story in the Yummy Fur series (1987-89) useful for identifying characteristics of the peculiar ending of Mark. In particular, this chapter explores how the ending of Mark, which has long puzzled scholars, can be more fully understood when compared to the technique of the page-turn reveal commonly used by comics creators. That is, the shorter ending of Mark is a “page-turn” teaser. It is not a deficient ending, but rather invites the reader or listener to create the verso(on the turned side of the page). Reading Mark through comics makes visible how the author of Mark accomplished with language what the comics form is uniquely able to display visually.

Abstract:
An Italian family suffering from a novel hereditary disease, i.e. hypofihrinogenemia connected with hepatic storage of fibrinogen, has been identified. A similar disorder has previously been described in two German families. The discovery originated from the finding of a massive hepatic storage of fibrinogen in a liver biopsy specimen from a 65 years old female who during a laparotomy unexpectedly turned out to display cirrhosis. Identification of the stored material as fibrinogen was carried out by specific immunostaining applied on both light and electron-microscopic level. The stored fibrinogen appeared in the form of eosinophilic, pale, irregularly shaped inclusions within the cytoplasm of the hepatocytes. E.M. showed that the inclusions correspond to dilated cisternae of the RER filled by densely packed, curved, tubular structures arranged in a fingerprint-like fashion. Similar features of fibrinogen storage were not detected in any of 500 consecutive liver biopsy specimens examined for this purpose by appropriate techniques. Plasma fibrinogen (thrombin clottable fibrinogen) was found to be 35 mg/dl (n.v. 100-300 mg/dl), and remained persistently very low (20-1-0 mg/dl) over a follow-up period of two years. The immunoreactive fibrinogen was found to be two-three times as high as the clottable. The patient showed no clinical defect of hemostasis or impaired wound healing. Eight out of 19 family members also had persistently low plasma fibrinogen levels (U5-80 mg/dl) over the same follow-up period. Hypofibrinogenemia with hepatic storage of fibrinogen seems to represent a further endoplasmic reticulum storage disease in addition to a-1-antitrypsin deficiency, the plasma deficiency being due to defective secretion of the protein from the hepatocytes. A genetically determined molecular abnormality may be responsible for the defective intracellular transport and subsequent storage at the primary site of protein synthesis, the RER. Hepatic storage of fibrinogen is likely to predispose to development of liver cirrhosis, but neither to defective hemostasis nor impaired wound healing.

Abstract:
Cittàslow movement was established in Italy in 1999. The Slow City movement incorporates a philosophy and a commitment to maintain the cultural heritage and quality of life of their membership towns. A slow city aims to improve the quality of life of its citizens and its visitors. Member towns are obliged to pursue local projects protecting local cultures, contributing to a relaxed pace of life, creating conviviality and hospitality and promoting a unique sense of place and local distinctiveness. There are nine slow cities in Turkey in 2013. This study examines the women entrepreneurship in slow cities of Turkey from a sociological perspective. Slow cities offer many opportunities in the meaning of local development especially for women in Turkey. They can engage with small business, hand-crafts, and organic farming in slow cities. But training of women, certification of the quality of artisan products and awareness of the citizens of slow cities are the critical issues in the sustainable local development process. Therefore, it is possible to increase income level of women living in slow cities in Turkey and also to preserve local tastes.

Abstract:
Throughout history, mankind has been almost constantly involved in an immigration movement. Almost all countries on earth are affected by migration. People sometimes have to leave by their own will and sometimes forced to migrate as well. The factors that cause this situation are natural, economic, social and political. In Turkey, the migration gained pace especially since the 1950s. The causes of this phenomenon are increased mechanization in agriculture, rapid urbanization and civil service assignments. The purpose of this study is to examine the determining factors of internal immigration between the provinces of Turkey through development indicators in the period of 2008-2015 with count data regression analysis and artificial neural network. In addition, using count data analysis and artificial neural networks are used to determine the best estimation method for performing internal migration forecasting in Turkey.

Abstract:
With a long and complicated history with Turkey's EU relations began in 1963 with Ankara Agreement. Turkey has been engaged the full membership since 2005 but nevertheless it could not have achieved results during the negotiations. Behind the slow pace of Turkey's membership, many political and cultural barriers can be shown. The events showed that reveals Turkey cannot be an EU member as soon as possible. This case may cause the Turkey have different pursuits in the political world arena. Turkey moved away from the EU, it can be motivated to participate in different political and economic union at the same time. Because, the world is constantly changing in terms of economic and political conditions and Turkey is hard to question the position in these new conditions. Founded in 2015 Eurasian Union has similar cultural and historical heritage alongside the geographical closely EAEU with Turkey. This common history may create opportunities for both sides. In this study, economic, social and political relations between Turkey and the EAEU countries are briefly discussed. Datas about this issue were gathered by Eurostat, europa.eu, wto.org and eurasiancommission.org etc. official data sources. The findings were compared with similar indicators between Turkey and the EU. So the EAEU is evaluated likely to be an alternative political and economic union to Turkey. Such a vision changes in Turkey will revise its economic and political stability of the region. This paper may contribute to further studies by providing a solid base.

Abstract:
The progressive development of the economy of each country in the context of globalization is to a large extent determined by its foreign trade activities. Individual entrepreneurship of the Kyrgyz Republic was the locomotive for the development of trade cooperation with many countries of the far abroad, among which Turkey is one of the leaders. Sources of research: statistical data. The main methods of cognition: analysis, synthesis, logical sequence. Key findings: The participation of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) contributed to the revival of trade relations of the Kyrgyzstan with the EAEU members and other countries. The structure of foreign trade has improved: leading export growth compared to import growth. The pace of development of foreign trade relations shows that the participation of Kyrgyzstan in the EAEU is not a deterrent to its integration into the world trade community. The production orientation of imports from Turkey and China showed the basis for restoring the production potential of the light industry of Kyrgyzstan. An analysis of official data on foreign trade of Kyrgyzstan and mirror statistics of key partner countries revealed the problem of the presence of inaccuracy in the statistics of foreign trade of Kyrgyzstan and possible budget losses. The principles of building a new relationship between a man and society under the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic will be based on the rationalization of consumption and production. This will be the basis for the restoration and development of foreign trade of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Abstract:
The subject of the study is the cooperation of S. Efremov with Western Ukrainian periodicals as a page in the history of Ukrainian journalism which covers the relationship of journalists and scientists of Eastern and Western Ukraine at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. Research methods (biographical, historical, comparative, axiological, statistical, discursive) develop the comprehensive disclosure of the article. As a result of scientific research, the origins of Ukrainocentrism in the personality of S. Efremov were clarified; his person as a public figure, journalist, publisher, literary critic is multifaceted; taking into account the specifics of the memoir genre and with the involvement of the historical context, the turning points in the destiny of the author of memoirs are interpreted, revealing cooperation with Western Ukrainian magazines and newspapers. The publications ‘Zoria’, ‘Narod’, ‘Pravda’, ‘Bukovyna’, ‘Dzvinok’, are secretly got into sub-Russian Ukraine, became for S. Efremov a spiritual basis in understanding the specifics of the national (Ukrainian) mass media, ideas of education in culture of Ukraine at the end of XIX century, its territorial integrity, and state independence. Memoirs of S. Efremov on cooperation with the iconic Galician journals ‘Notes of the Scientific Society after the name Shevchenko’ and ‘Literary-Scientific Bulletin’, testify to an important stage in the formation of the author’s worldview, the expansion of the genre boundaries of his journalism, active development as a literary critic. S. Yefremov collaborated most fruitfully and for a long time with the Literary-Scientific Bulletin, and he was impressed by the democratic position of this publication. The author’s comments reveal a long-running controversy over the publication of a review of the new edition of Kobzar and thematically related discussions around his other literary criticism, in which the talent of the demanding critic was forged. S. Efremov steadfastly defended the main principles of literary criticism: objectivity and freedom of author’s thought. The names of the allies of the Ukrainian idea L. Skochkovskyi, O. Lototskyi, O. Konyskyi, P. Zhytskyi, M. Hrushevskyi in S. Efremov’s memoirs unfold in multifaceted portrait descriptions and function as historical and cultural facts that document the pages of the author’s biography, record his activities in space and time. The results of the study give grounds to characterize S. Efremov as the first professional Ukrainian-speaking journalist.
