Abstract In this study Taguchi Optimization Technique was used, followed by ANOVA to evaluate the machinability i.e. turning of a hybrid Mg/(8wt%SiCp+2wt%Al2O3p+1wt%Grp) MMC using PVD coated cermet tool under the dry turning conditions. Several experiments were conducted using the L27 (313) orthogonal array on NH26 automated lather machine. ANOVA was used to determine the impression of the turning parameter on the VBmax of the tool flank. The recent discovery of three pewter tappit hen measures from the excavation of a ship sunk off Mull in 1653 has enabled us to deduce something of the origins of this eponymous Scottish measure. They are of Scots pint, chopin and half-mutchkin capacity, and they display several hitherto unrecognised features. They were made by casting two vertical halves, unlike the familiar 18th-century forms. This left a hole in the base which was then filled with a plug. On the inside of this plug the pewterer struck a mark of a hammer and his initials, whilst his touchmark was struck on the collar of the m

Currently, the RANS (Reynolds-Averaged Navier–Stokes) method is widely recognized as a prevalent approach for computing ship maneuvering forces and moments. Obtaining hydrodynamic derivatives using pure RANS is time-consuming, especially with rotating propellers. A reasonable simplification of the propeller is usually necessary to improve simulation efficiency. The ITTC suggests both the discretized propeller model (DPM) and the body-force model (BFM) for RANS simulations. While BFM offers computational efficiency, it may not accurately represent large-amplitude ship maneuvers. It is quite sig

Despite a large demand from industry, a realistic chatter modeling for hard turning has not been available due to the complexity of the problem, which is mainly caused by flank wear and nonlinearity in hard turning. This thesis attempts to develop chatter models for predicting chatter stability conditions in hard turning with the considerations of the effects of flank wear and nonlinearity. First, a linear model is developed by introducing non-uniform load distribution on a tool tip to account for the flank wear effect. Abstract:
Evapotranspiration is one of the major components of Earth’s Water Balance, being the sum of evaporation and plant transpiration from the land and ocean surface. This report documents edcrop, a Python package that use climate input to simulate field-scale evapotranspiration and drainage from the root zone of an area covered with a crop, a wetland, or a forest. The conceptual model implemented in edcrop is a modification of the Evacrop model by Olesen and Heidmann (2002), which itself builds on the Watcros model by Aslyng and Hansen (1982). The edcrop conceptualization is based on consideration

Abstract:
This program focused on citrus tristeza virus (CTV), the largest and one of the most complex RNA-plant-viruses. The economic importance of this virus to the US and Israeli citrus industries, its uniqueness among RNA viruses and the possibility to tame the virus and eventually turn it into a useful tool for the protection and genetic improvement of citrus trees justify these continued efforts. Although the overall goal of this project was to study the role(s) of CTV associated defective (d)-RNAs in CTV-induced diseases, considerable research efforts had to be devoted to the engineering of the h

Abstract:
Vicksburg National Military Park (VICK) was established for its historical significance as a one of the principle military sieges resulting in a turning point during the American Civil War. The steep terrain around the city of Vicksburg was integral in the military siege, providing high vantage points and a substrate that was easy to entrench for the armies, but unknown to many is the fossil content, particularly a diversity of fossil mollusks. These fossils at VICK are important paleontological resources which have yet to receive focused attention from park staff, visitors, and researchers. T

Abstract:
Research objectives : Identify genetic potential and community structure of soil and rhizosphere microbial community structure as affected by treated wastewater (TWW) irrigation. This objective was achieved through the examination soil and rhizosphere microbial communities of plants irrigated with fresh water (FW) and TWW. Genomic DNA extracted from soil and rhizosphere samples (Minz laboratory) was processed for DNA-based shotgun metagenome sequencing (Green laboratory). High-throughput bioinformatics was performed to compare both taxonomic and functional gene (and pathway) differences betwee
