It is argued that both meanings created by the reflexive pronoun can be accounted for under a decomposition approach. Abstract:
Abstract When compared to Old Indo-Aryan (OIA) and other Middle Indo-Aryan (MIA) languages, the marking of the second person in Niya Prakrit differs in two crucial respects. On the one hand, Niya Prakrit makes use of a pronoun tusya/tus̱a ‘you’ that is not found in the other languages. On the other hand, Niya Prakrit has a verbal ending -tu (-du) as a second person marker on top of the old 2sg ending -si (-s̱i) and the 2pl ending -tha. This paper argues that these two peculiarities are related to one another and that both the pronoun and the verbal ending have not been properly described in ea

Abstract:
Abstract Sinitic languages are known for their SVO order and mostly isolating morphology. This study addresses eleven languages of four different areas in Hunan, Yunnan, Sichuan, and Qinghai/Gansu provinces in China that possess SOV order and developed a postnominal flagging system. This study presents a synchronic description as well as a diachronic analysis of the flagging systems in these languages, focusing on typological properties (ergative or secundative alignment) and the role of language contact. The existence of four separate areas with limited mutual contact allows a contrastive app

Guangdong province is situated in the south of China with a population size of 113.46 million. Hakka is officially recognized as a branch of Han Chinese, and She is the official minority group in mainland China. There are approximately 25 million Hakka people who mainly live in the East and North regions of China, while there are only 0.7 million She people. The genetic characterization and forensic parameters of these two groups are poorly defined (She) or still need to be explored (Hakka). In this study, we have genotyped 475 unrelated Guangdong males (260 Hakka and 215 She) with Promega Pow

Abstract:
This study aims to explore and offer a deep understanding of female experiences of disability in Nigeria as portrayed in Tusin Jobi-Tume’s play Not That Woman (2019). It inspects the social as well as the physical aspects of disability that female characters encounter in the play pertaining to the cultural practice of early marriage. In Nigeria, this long-standing custom denies girls their fundamental right to acquire formal education, imprisons, and silences their bodies, and most importantly prevents them from becoming active and independent agents in mainstream society.
