Anglophone cultures have had extensive contact with other ethnic groups over the last 200 years and almost always from a position of dominance (Filmer, 2012). In English there are racial slurs for practically every race or ethnic group and swear words are commonly used in English TV dialogues. Denna studie syftar till att undersöka barnlitteratur och andra mediers betydelse för barns uppfattning kring normer. Det vi vill synliggöra är hur barn påverkas av normer som finns i barnlitteratur och dess illustrationer, vilka normer förskolebarn uppfattar bland hjältar och skurkar samt varifrån de fått inspiration till dessa. För att lyckas med detta har vi använt oss av tidigare forskning och deltagande observationer. Vi har därefter använt oss av diskursanalys för att analysera det insamlade materialet. Studien har syftat till att undersöka hur den fornnordiska mytologin framtsälls i vissa utvaldafilmer och tv-spel samt hur dessa kan användas i den svenska religionsundervisningen pågymnasiet. För att undersöka detta har sju olika filmer samt två tv-spel analyserats utifrån ettdidaktiskt perspektiv och utifrån teorierna cultural memory och det kommersiellahistoriebruket.
