Full textA multi professional team use different professional skills to a specific target. The people in the team complement each other to achieve the best performance possible. Professional identity is a mix between the professional and personal identity. Social identities, like professional identity, is a product of social categorization and social comparison. The purpose of this study was to examine how increased cooperation in cross-disciplinary teams has affected the professional identity of home care staff. The method I used to gather my material were focus groups with home care staff in relation to their workplace. Five focus groups were conducted and formed the basis of the results. I used parts of and got inspired from the hermeneutic approach in the analysis of my empirical findings. The results were interpreted by the social identity theory and the concepts of identity, professional identity and the dual task. The results show that home care staff finds it difficult to describe what their role is in the profession. The team's work has affected the staff to feel stronger in their profession and occupation. They have been able to learn from the other team members and have got a deeper understanding of the other team member’s profession. They also believe that the home care staff group has become more of a united group now that they know more about each other's work, work more equal and have more discussions within the group. Home care staff professional identity has been influenced, as all work within the team goes toward a common explicit goal. This has made stronger professional identity within the group and they can identify themselves more with each other. The teams work towards the common goal has also contributed to that they experience cooperation, understanding and affinity with the other team members. This has broadened their professional identity and they have become part of a new group - the team.

Full textBackground: Pupil health team (PHT) is an essential resource for pupils' learning, development and health. Consensus on health promotion, prevention and remedial perspectives is of importance to the pupils. Purpose: To investigate how the PHT professions perceive the health promotion, prevention and remedial task. Method: Focus group interviews were conducted during February and March 2019 with school psychologists, school nurses, school counsellors and teachers with special educational competence. Through qualitative content analysis with deductive approach, the material was analyzed. Result: Five categories and seven subcategories distributed under three domains, health promotion, preventive and remedial perspectives emerged from the analysis. The result showed both similarities and differences in how the professions perceived the PHT mission from the health promotion, prevention and remedial perspective. The perceptions were often based on the profession-specific assignment, but sometimes they touched on each other's assignments. Conclusion: Both similarities and differences existed in how PHT professionals perceived the health promotion, prevention and remedial work. The profession of PHT needs to strive for consensus on the different perspectives, which can give the PHT a holistic view of the work to support the pupil against health and learning.

Full textOverweight and obesity are a growing complex public health problem. The secondary diseases that overweight and obesity cause means suffer for the child and cost the society money. The aim of the study is to elucidate district nurses' experience of teamwork at primary child health care centers with overweight children and their families. The data analysis was done through a qualitative content analysis according to Elo and Kyngäs (2008) with an inductive approach where eight district nurses working at primary child health care centers were interviewed. The result shows the importance of cross-professional teamwork. By working with the dietitian, the family and the child receive support regarding diet, portion size and nutritional calculation of meal portions. The psychologist can support the family in their everyday lives with boundaries and with daily routines that can affect the family's diet and lifestyle. Teamwork with the doctors works well, but their level of knowledge about being updated on prevailing guidelines and measures is considered inadequate, which affects the work of the overweight children. Through teamwork and utilizing the various specialist skills, the chances of being able to help the obese child and the family increases. Collaboration with both the family center and the educators at the preschool is considered to be important in the work on overweight children. For everyone in the team to be up to date on guidelines for overwight and obesity, it is an organizational issue to free time for the doctors so that they can go on training days where common knowledge is obtained. By simplifying the process of writing a referral to the obesity clinic and by increasing cooperation with both family centers and educators at the preschool, the supportive and preventive work on obese children will be promoted. This in turn contributes to increased public health and reduced socio-economic costs.

Full textThe aim was to study the experience of healthcare curators working in cross-professional teams and how they experience their own professional role. Furthermore, their experiences of how they experienced the pandemic affected their work and that of the team were studied. The information was collected through semi-structured interviews with six healthcare curators in two different activities. Our empirical data was analyzed using system theory, interaction rituals and emotional energy, as well as previous research. The results showed, on the one hand, that the curators were positive about being part of cross-professional teams because it was rewarding for both themselves as professionals and for patients. Contributing causes included patientcentred care, emotional support, a broader knowledge base and the promotion of job satisfaction. High workload and lack of time, on the other hand, proved to be a negative factor that could affect cooperation. The result could discern that the counsellor had no clear job description and that consequences of the ambiguity of the professional role could cause a feeling of being the sleagre steering wheel of care and a difficulty in understanding the boundaries of the role. Although the curators experienced good communication, aggravating circumstances such as magnifying teams, lack of time, changing communication paths based on the pandemic and the transition to digital meetings in relation to physical ones were mentioned. One conclusion we make is that collaboration requires social relationships and cohesion and that an enabling factor to this is smaller teams with a balanced collaboration structure and clear job description for all professions in the team. Health promotion aspects also need to be given a higher priority in the digital way of working that the pandemic has contributed to in order to strengthen social relations and cooperation in the cross-professional team.

Full textBackground: The school nurse is part of the student health team. With its interdisciplinary skills, the student health team is able to identify different perspectives in order to put in place the right efforts for pupils. However, the information exchange in the team has proved to be a challenge for achieving good cooperation. The school nurse’s work involves a sensitive balance between contributing to the work of the student health team, keeping confidentiality and protecting student’s dignity and integrity. Purpose: To investigate the school nurse’s perception of the impact of secrecy on the work of the student health team. Method: Phenomenographic method with inductive approach. Eight subjects participated by answering qualitatively formulated questions by mail. The data was analyzed by the methodology of the phenomenon in seven steps. Result: The school nurses perceived that there were different perceptions and understandings about secrecy, which affected the exchange of information. Secrecy was also perceived as an isolating factor when the school nurses felt alone in their profession. Due to the need for consent, confidentiality was perceived as a delayed circumstance in order to help students. School nurses reported that confidentiality increased trust from students and guardians and that trust was important in order to obtain consent, thus eliminate the possible barriers that secrecy could cause. Conclusion: Based on ethical approach, the school nurses perceived confidentiality as an obstacle in student health team work but as valuable in the relationship with student and guardians.

Full textThe aim of this study is to create knowledge about how pupil welfare teams in schools can work with health promotion and prevention and not only with remedial work. Earlier research together with national reports and inspections has shown the challenge for pupil welfare teams to work with prevention and health promotion. The study first explored if the pupil welfare team in the study also worked with prevention and health promotion. Indications of this way of working was shown in an earlier study and the aim was then to further explore if there was an inflection point when the pupil welfare team started to work in these ways. In case there was such a point, the aim was also to further explore which factors that contributed to this and which factors that supported that these ways of working continued. System theory and theories about cross-professional teams are used as theoretical perspectives in the analysis. Special pedagogical perspectives and the salutogenic perspective were also used in the analysis together with earlier research about pupil welfare teams. Both qualitative methods with interviews and participant observations and a quantitative method with a questionnaire are used in the study. The information from the different data sources was triangulated in order to identify both different and convergent perspectives of the research questions. The following data material has been collected: a) 13 observations of pupil welfare teams including teachers b) 3 observations of pupil welfare teams without teachers c) a group interview with the pupil welfare team d) an interview with the psychologist in the pupil welfare team e) an interview with both headmasters in the school f) a group interview with six pupils g) a questionnaire to all teachers working on the school. Results show that the pupil welfare team has gone from remedial work to work more with prevention and health promotion. The results indicate the important role of the principal for creating clear goals and common visions. To stay long and hold on to the strategies are important for developing the way of working with prevention and health promotion. Clear routines, close co-operation with teachers and a pupil centered way of working are other keys to success for developing and hold on to prevention and health promotion work in pupil welfare teams. The results are discussed in relation to the theoretical background and earlier research.

Full textThis study wants to identify how the early prevention work looks in the society as well as how it could be developed. The purpose with this study is to exam the early prevention work for children, also if an implementation of a social worker in the children health care could develop the early prevention work that exist today. The study has a qualitative approach and an inductive view. A general strategy has been used to reach the empirics, that is gathered through four semi structed interviews and a review of current research in the field. The problem perspective is a foundation for processing and coding the interviews in the study. The study uses the bioecological model as the theory to process the coding and analysis of the interview empirics. From the theory three of the systems are used, micro-, exo and macrosystems. The study reaches conclusions from the systems that are: Micro conclusion: Early prevention work must be taken more seriously and occur in a greater extent. Exo conclusion: The interprofessional team should exist, along with the social worker, to perform early prevention work of good quality. Macro conclusion: To focus on early prevention will reduce high costs in the future.

Full textOur study aims to explore what experienced role some school counselors have or could have in school-health teams. We have explored this through qualitative interviews with six different informants, four school counselors and two leaders of school-health teams. We have examined their experiences and opinions about the school counselor’s role in school- health teams. Our research questions are: How does the school counselor’s role look like and how are their competencies being used in school-health teams? How does leaders of school-health teams see the school counselor’s role and competencies in the work done by school-health teams? How does the school counselor and the leader of the school-health teams experience the cooperation between the school counselor and the other members of the school-health team? The results show that all our informants agree that the school counselor should be a part of the school-health team. They also agree that the school counselor have competencies that no other member of the school-health team have, including knowledge about educational routes, schooling, and conversation methodology. Furthermore, our study shows that the interprofessional cooperation in the school-health team prove to have both pros and cons.
