Abstract:
A rash of new festivals, a fashion for calendars and a renamed month all attest to the strength of anniversary culture in the Augustan era, and to Augustus’ own facility for capitalising upon it. We can safely assume that he would have understood, and perhaps even anticipated, that the bimillennium of his death might be commemorated. Whether he would quite have expected the exhibitions, conferences and publications with which twenty-first-century academics chose to mark it is perhaps another matter. This review article examines some of the scholarly fruits of Augustus’ 2014 anniversary, encompassing twelve books which were published that year, took it as an explicit prompt or were developed out of bimillennial conferences. They are tackled in three broad groups, the better to bring out the characteristic interests and approaches of each.

Abstract:
This article is a selective survey of the last twenty years of Amos research, which has witnessed robust discussion in multiple directions. It groups these trends into five very broad areas: (1) the possibility of positing an eighth-century setting for the prophet and the historical reliability of the book, (2) work on the redaction of the book and potential connections to the history of the composition of the Book of the Twelve, (3) theological themes of particular contemporary interest, (4) recent insights into the translation techniques of LXX Amos, and (5) the reception of Amos across the centuries, with a special focus on the views of women and minority and global communities. There is a range of scholarly positions in several of these areas and new questions being asked, all of which portends continued vitality in Amos research in the foreseeable future.

Abstract:
The purpose of the present study was to compare Serbian and Japanese participants in their subjective experience of Serbian and Japanese architectural objects. Subjective experience was operationalized through the ratings on the bipolar scales (e.g. pleasant-unpleasant). In the Preliminary study 1, a set of twelve rating scales was generated. In the Preliminary study 2 twelve Serbian and twelve Japanese architectural objects were specified. In the main experiment two groups of participants, twenty-one Serbian and twenty Japanese, rated twelve Serbian and twelve Japanese objects. A factor analysis extracted three dimensions of subjective experience: Beauty, Firmness and Fullness. Analysis of variance have shown that both Serbian and Japanese participants agreed that Japanese architectural objects looked more beautiful and firmer than Serbian objects. These finding is generally in line with perceptualist hypothesis that stimulus constraints are more effective than culture. However, interactions revealed some cultural differences that are consistent with culturalist hypothesis: compared to Serbian participants, Japanese participants rated Japanese architectural objects as more beautiful, whereas, compared to Japanese, Serbian participants rated Serbian objects as less fragile and emptier than Japanese objects. Generaly, our study have shown that Serbian (Western) and Japanese (Eastern) participants show general similarity in their subjective experience of architectural objects.

Full text
Abstract:
Wheat stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is one of the key diseases of economic importance in wheat worldwide. Host resistance, which follows the gene-for-gene hypothesis between the host and pathogen, has been used in wheat lines to resolve resistance specificities and postulate resistant genes. The objective of this study was to elucidate stripe rust resistance in a collection of Kenyan wheat lines and Watkin landraces to identify new sources of stripe rust (Yr) resistance. In this study, the resistance in twenty wheat lines was determined by comparing their infection type with those of twenty differential lines using isolates representing twelve Puccinia striiformis races from Kenya, Denmark, U.K., Sweden, and Eritrea at the seedling stage. Among the twenty wheat lines, none was resistant to all the twelve Pst races and isolate DK02d/12 (“Kranich” race) was virulent on all the genotypes except wheat genotype “Kenya Tai.” This genotype (“Kenya Tai”) had the highest resistance as it was resistant to all the twelve stripe rust races used in this study. From this study, the introduction and utilization of wheat genotypes with adult plant resistant (APR) stripe rust genes, such as Yr15, are important in breeding wheat genotypes with effective resistance to wheat stripe rust in Kenya and worldwide.

Abstract:
This study examined the proposition that the hedonic context within which paintings are viewed interacts with the hedonic quality of paintings to determine aesthetic evaluation. Hedonic context was manipulated using twelve positive and twelve negative odor cues in three different formats (odor alone, odor + name, name alone). The hedonic quality of paintings was manipulated using six positive, six negative and twelve neutral emotionally toned paintings. Twenty-four males and twenty-four females viewed each painting in the context of a different cue with half of the emotional cue-painting trials being hedonically congruent (e.g., pos-pos) and half hedonically incongruent (e.g., neg-pos). Following each cue-painting trial subjects provided their evaluations of the paintings along artistic (e.g., artistic quality, visual complexity) and subjective-emotional (e.g., personal meaningfulness, pleasantness, tense-relaxed) dimensions. As predicted, all aesthetic evaluations were intensified when the cue and painting were hedonically congruent. Moreover, evaluations of the most emotionally potent painting group (negative paintings) were least influenced by context, and women were more sensitive to congruency and emotional context in general than were men. The results were interpreted in accordance with prior research and principles in experimental psychology and aesthetics.

Abstract:
Introduction: Home mechanical ventilation (HMV) can prolong survival and improve quality of life. The objectives were to review the challenges, clinical conditions and outcome of children who were discharged from the hospital on respiratory support.Material and Methods: Twenty four patients, who were electively discharged from PICU and had received home ventilatory support for more than 15 days, were enrolled over 11 year study period. Patients were followed up monthly, for two years, for ventilatory requirements, any problems encountered during previous month and for any complication. Results: Twenty four patients with a median age of 3.5 years were discharged home with ventilatory support. HMV was started in 2001 at our hospital. Patents received home ventilation for a median period 5.4 months. Twenty (83.3%) patients received invasive mechanical ventilation via tracheostomy and four (16.7%) patients received non-invasive mechanical ventilation. Twelve (50%) patients received ventilatory support for more than 20 hrs a day and twelve (50%) patients received only during sleep. On follow up for two years for each patient, twenty (83.3%) patients successfully came off from ventilatory support while, two (8.3%) patients died and two (8.3%) lost to follow-up.Conclusion: HMV can be safely applied in selected children with CRF after providing adequate training to the care givers. For its more efficient use, we need to have good social support and medical assistance which can be extended to their homes to meet their complete health care needs.J Nepal Paediatr Soc 2015;35(1):85-88

Abstract:
The integration and deepening cooperation with Europe within the scope of higher education remains essential for the European integrative aspirations of Ukraine. For years, our country has been a strategic partner of Europe. Since Ukraine gained its independence, the government kept on declaring ambitions to implement the European principles in all sectors of life. So does it concerning the sphere of higher education. In 2005 Ukraine signed the Bologna Declaration and therefore officially joined the Bologna process. To this end, Ukraine assumed obligations to partake in reforming the system of higher education and to implement the European standards of education therein. For many years Ukraine was closely cooperating with European countries within the framework of science and education. Over twenty five years a series of international agreements have been signed between Ukraine and the countries of Europe, both at governmental level and that of the Ministries of Education. Moreover, a number of interdepartmental agreements have been signed at the academic level. May 19, 2017 marks the twentieth anniversary of the Bologna declaration accession of Ukraine. Twenty years of experience of Ukraine’s participation in the Bologna process still generate interest and provoke discussions within the Ukrainian society, foremost in the academic world, as well as among students, professors, politicians, officials, analysts and experts. This article investigates the key elements of Ukraine’s participation in the Bologna process. It as well covers the European-oriented reform of the higher education system for over ten years and analyses the efficacy and success thereof. The article emphasizes benefits and drawbacks of Ukraine’s joining the Bologna process.

Twenty-four cases of pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland were retrospectively reviewed. The histopathological features of capsular thickness, penetration and completeness, tumoral cell population and mitotic activity were analyzed in twelve superficial lobe and twelve deep lobe tumors. The capsules were found to be significantly thicker and less likely to be penetrated by tumor in the deep lobe group. No significant differences in completeness of encapsulation, cell population or mitotic activity were found between the two groups. This may explain the clinical suggestion that the less aggressive surgical approach which is often performed does not compromise the prognosis for recurrence in the deep lobe lesions.

Undoubtedly the largest Rastafari organization both in terms of membership and international expansion, the Twelve Tribes of Israel remains little known in public and academic circles. This article fills two major but closely related gaps in Van Dijk’s seminal article. The first is information on the formation and history of the Twelve Tribes, and the second is how the organization mobilized the return of members to Africa, a cornerstone of Rastafari belief. This article argues that the issue of return to the continent determined the very genesis of the organization and subsequently the development of its eighteen international branches. In its turn, this focus on return to Africa offers another perspective on the internal dynamics of the Rastafari movement, namely the structuring role of Rastafari organizations, a role which challenges the common image of Rastafari as an “acephalous” movement. Exploring the tangible relationship of Rastafari with Ethiopia, through the return to Ethiopia of members of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, offers new insight into the history of the Rastafari movement.

Abstract:
Depending upon how we look at it, Computer Cartography can be considered now to be twenty years old (the first contour map was produced about twenty years ago), or a dozen years (the first major project in Computer Cartography, the Canadian Geographical Information System was started in 1963). This is not to say that we started out from scratch twelve or twenty years ago. On the contrary, we had all the tools and all the power from different disciplines, including Computer Science, Geography, Cartography and the Survey Sciences. If we assume that every discipline has some milestones in its development, it has to be said that in Computer Cartography these milestones did not happen or happened virtually unnoticed by the discipline.

Abstract The Ballets Russes never performed in Russia, and in the last twelve years of its twenty-one year existence (1909-1929) many Western European artists and composers worked for the company. Yet its essential identity remained as Russian as that of its founder, the quintessential “cosmopolitan” Sergei Diaghilev. An examination of its repertory makes that clear.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT This research aims to evaluate the effects of motor activities on pupils at primary education. The two samples of pupils were divided as follows: the first group, experimental group consisted of twenty-five students with the age between ten and twelve years old, thirteen boys and twelve girls, group which followed a specific program containing agonistic, playful and initiation training in sports games; and the second group, the control group, consisted of twenty-five students with the age between ten and twelve years old, fourteen boys and eleven girls, group that took the classical physical education and sports curriculum. The motor evaluation tests at which the students have been evaluated have been taken over from the national evaluation system: speed running on 50 m, 5x10 m relay race, resistance running, jumping, throw off the oina ball, abdominal force, back force, upper members force, and lower member force. The results showed that the pupils from the experimental group had better performances compared with those from the control group at the final test, indicating the effectiveness of the agonistic, playful and initiation programs in sports games. Differences in the final testing among student groups were significant in all motor tests (p <0.05). Conclusions have shown that the research hypothesis was valid, so we can say that inclusion of programs with agonistic, playful and initiation in sports games can influence in a good way the student’s motor performance at this age.

Abstract:
The fate of the mercury which caused the tragedy of Minamata disease has been monitored for a period of 12 years determining mercury contents in the surface sediment of Yatsushiro Sea. Twenty-four sampling stations were selected over an area of 636 km2. Mercury concentrations, both organic and inorganic, in water were also determined within the Bay and the Sea in 1985. Mercury has been dispersing from the Bay to the Sea. From 1975 to 1986 there was a considerable increase of mercury contents in the surface sediments. However, there is no alarming level of mercury in the sediments of Yatsushiro Sea and the level is mostly less than 1 ppm. Mercury concentrations in the water of Minamata Bay were as much as 6 times higher compared to those of Yatsushiro Sea. The highest level in the Bay was 125.3 ng/l (total mercury) whereas the highest level in the Sea was 25.8 ng/l. The proportion of organic mercury in the total mercury ranged from 0.9% to 13.7 % in the Sea. The proportion was lower than those found in river waters.

Abstract:
Objective: To present this series of surgically treated tuberculum sellae meningiomas with particular regard to visual compromises Methods: A retrospective analysis was done on 28 patients (21 females) with meningiomas originating from the tuberculum sellae who underwent surgery between 2010 and 2019. The standard surgical approach of pterional craniotomy. Twelve meningiomas extended posteriorly onto the diaphragma sellae, 13 anteriorly to the planum sphenoidale, and 3 to the anterior clinoid process. 21 tumours involved the optic canal, one bilaterally. Follow up ranged from 6 to 12 months. Results: Total microscopic resection was achieved in 28 patients. Median tumour size was 3.2 cm. Postoperatively, visual acuity improved in 19 patients and deteriorated 3. Preoperative and postoperative visual acuity worsened with increasing duration of preoperative symptoms and with increasing age. Extension into the intraconal space was a negative predictor. Recurrence occurred in one cases. One patients died from causes unrelated to the tumour. Conclusions: In the majority of patients with tuberculum sellae meningiomas, total resection may be achieved through a pterional approach with minimal complications. Bang. Abstract:
ABSTRACTThis study examined the production of three types of noun plural inflections, feminine sound plural (FSP), masculine sound plural (MSP), and broken plural (BP) in Kuwaiti Arabic-speaking children with and without language impairment. A total of thirty-six Kuwaiti participants – twelve adults, twelve children with specific language impairment (SLI), and twelve typically developing age-matched controls (TD) were presented with twenty-seven pictured stimuli of real and nonsense words. The results showed that the TD children were significantly more accurate in using the required noun plural inflections than the SLI group. The TD children's preferred overgeneralization strategy was to substitute FSP for the regular MSP and irregular BP contexts much more than their peers with SLI. The performance of the SLI group also differed from that of their age-matched counterparts in the number of errors and their distribution across categories. The results are discussed in the light of relevant theories of atypical language development.

Abstract:
Objective. To describe a case of successful oocyte retrieval, fertilization and clinical pregnancy despite very low β-hCG level, twelve hours after ovulation trigger. Design. Case report. Setting. Academic medical center. Patient. A 38-year-old patient inadvertently administered 2,000 IU hCG for final oocyte maturation; serum hCG twelve hours later was 16 IU/L. Interventions. Effort to obtain and administer a booster dose of hCG over the next twenty-seven hours failed. Main Outcome. Successful oocyte retrieval. Results. Fourteen oocytes were retrieved of which twelve were in metaphase II and nine fertilized after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Of these, eight embryos survived to day 5 and were subjected to preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) by comparative genomic hybridization (CGH). Results were available the next day, three of the embryos were euploid and one was transferred on day 6. Pregnancy was confirmed twelve days later and currently the patient has an ongoing singleton intrauterine pregnancy. Conclusion. Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialists should be aware that final oocyte maturation could occur following injection of a lower dose of hCG with excellent fertilization rate and embryo development.

Abstract:
We report on report the clinical outcome obtained in treatment of giant intracranial aneurysms (GAs). Between 2005 and 2007, 51 patients with 51 GAs presented at our hospital. Twenty-nine were treated with primary parent vessel occlusion without distal bypass and ten underwent treatment preserving the parent artery. Twelve patients could not be treated endovascularly. Selective embolization (including two remodeling techniques and two stent-coil embolizations) resulted in only one cure. Two patients died as a result of subarachnoid hemorrhage periprocedurely. Twenty-nine patients treated primarily with parent vessel occlusion and three patients treated with covered stent were considered cured after their treatments. Only one patient treated with parent vessel occlusion experienced ischemia during follow-up, which resulted in a mild neurological deficit. Of the twelve patients who could not be treated endovascularly, one succumbed to surgery, four died while being treated conservatively, and three were lost to follow-up. Parent artery occlusion, covered stent and coil occlusion provide effective protection against bleeding. In treatment of paraclinoid GAs of the internal carotid artery, the use of a stent, and stent-assisted coil embolization may be a pitfall.
