Abstract:
Estimation of age is a crucial step for the identification of unknown individuals. Age is commonly assessed through macroscopic analytical methods based on the gross-examination of age degenerative changes in the skeleton. The choice of the methods relies on the taphonomic condition of the human remains and/or the skeletal element that is available. In cases of very fragmented bones, microscopic techniques remain one of the few approaches to estimate age. Thus, many histological age estimation methods have been developed for different bones and on different samples in the last forty years. Num

The main purpose of this paper is to better understand groups that do not have the unique product property. In particular, the goal is to better understand Promislow's example, G, of such a group. In doing so, we will develop methods for generating examples of other sets that do not have the unique product property. With these methods we can show that there exists other distinct 14 element, square, non-unique product sets in G that are not inversions or translations. Also, this paper answers the question as to whether every non-unique product set can have only 14 elements in the negative by pr

In this dissertation we present a novel computational method, as well as its software implementation, to compare two samples by a nonparametric likelihood-ratio test. The basis of the comparison is a mean-type hypothesis. The software is written in the R-language [4]. The two samples are assumed to be independent. Their distributions, which are assumed to be unknown, may be discrete or continuous. The samples may be uncensored, right-censored, left-censored, or doubly-censored. Two software programs are offered. The first program covers the case of a single mean-type hypothesis. The second pro

The two dimensional persistent homology, that can be reduced to the homology of a family of parameterized real functions, can be found to have some issues due to a phenomenon of monodromy, which happens when a loop in the parameters' space doesn't translate into loops of the elements of the persistent diagram. Instead they switch place between them in a functorial way. In this paper we present a formalisation of this functor and we will make an use of it, representing an arbitrary symmetric group by means of a suitable filtering function.

Abstract:
Möbius transformations have been thoughtfully studied over the field of complex numbers. In this thesis, we investigate Möbius transformations over two rings which are not fields: the ring of double numbers $\mathbb O$ and the ring of dual numbers $\mathbb D$. We will see certain similarity between the cases of fields and rings along with some significant distinctions. After the introduction and necessary background material, given in the first two chapters, I introduce general linear groups, projective lines and Möbius transformations over several rings such us the ring of integer numbers,
