Abstract:
Two Aulacidae from Asia, Pristaulacus japonicus Turrisi & Watanabe, sp.n. (Japan) and Pristaulacus takakuwai Turrisi & Watanabe, sp.n. (Thailand), are described and illustrated. The former species is very similar to the Palearctic Pristaulacus gibbator (Thunberg 1822) and is recognized by the different sculpturing of the upper part of the mesoand metapleura, slightly longer petiole, longer ovipositor, and several features of the male genital capsule, e.g., the shape of the apex of the paramere, lamina volsellaris and penis valve. The latter species is not obviously allied to any other

Abstract:
The Left-Hand Path is a controversial form of new Esoteric spirituality, often labeled Satanic, and often perceived as entertaining right-wing political sympathies. It is therefore important to note that two of the most prominent Left-Hand Path groups——the Temple of Set and Dragon Rouge——foster animal rights ideologies, something which is generally considered leftist. Animal rights ideology would seem to be a less than perfect fit with the epistemological individualism, goals of self-deification, and antinomian approaches to predominant religious culture——fundamental elements in Left-Hand Path

IntroductionThe death of Chris Cornell in the spring of 2017 shook me. As the lead singer of Soundgarden and a pioneer of early 1990s grunge music, his voice revealed an unbridled pain and joy backed up by the raw, guitar-driven rock emanating from the Seattle, Washington music scene. I remember thinking, there’s only one left, referring to Eddie Vedder, lead singer for Pearl Jam, and lone survivor of the four seminal grunge bands that rose to fame in the early 1990s whose lead singers passed away much too soon. Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley died in 2002 at the age of 35, and Nirvana fro

Eugenia Rainey grew up in suburban Maryland and found the Lucumí orisha religion through her brother, who had read a book and traced a priest named in it. Her first contact was during her high school years when her parents took her to Chicago (where her brother lived at the time) to visit and look at colleges. While there, Eugenia’s brother insisted that they attend a spiritist misa (Kardecian spiritual mass). Eugenia’s parents were not pleased, but while there, Eugenia’s deceased grandfather communicated with her through the séance. He also did so when she toured the University of Chicago cam

Abstract:
This chapter draws a connection between two inspirational Lingayats. The first is the poet and reformer Basava, almost 900 years ago, who criticised the static and exploitative temple culture of his time, who offered the challenge that all men were equal, and women equal to men, and whose opposition to caste oppression was practical as well as theoretical; sadly, his legacy has been appropriated by conservative elements supportive of the new right wing in India.
