Full textHaving simple structure and high sensitivity, micro accelerometer is a type of popular transducer used to measure the acceleration in a great variety of conditions. The bridge-type micro accelerometer is a typical micro accelerometer and has many types. As one of research project of Kentron in South Africa, the thesis presented here analyzes the bridge-type capacitive nticro accelerometer (BTCMA) and the bridge-type micro accelerometer with two piezoelectric thin films read-out (BTPMA). In this thesis, the similar structures are used on BTCMA and BTPMA For proving the fundamental mode of the structure can measure acceleration and utilizing the structural and electric characteristic to avoid the effect of higher modes, the program CoventorWare for nticro-electric-mechanical system (MEMS) design and analysis is used here to analyze the modes of these two structures, The two group piezoelectric thin films of BTPMA can be connected in serial or parallel configurations. Integrating piezoelectric effect method, strength method and energy method, the analytical analysis of these two configurations has been done with particular emphasis on the elastic characteristics of the thin films. The analytical formulas of transducer, sensitivity, resonance frequency, noise, quality factor, ntinimum detectable signal and maximum detectable range are obtained. According to the comparison results between these two configurations, the charge output in parallel configuration is a little more than that in serial configuration and the sensitivity in serial configuration is much higher than that in parallel configuration. Finally, a calculation of certain practical nticro accelerometer size is used to prove the above conclusions. On the base of capacitance theory, strength method and energy method, the analytical analysis of the BTCMA has been done in this thesis.

Full textIn object oriented programming, a Call Graph represents the calling relationships between the program’s methods. To be more precise, a Call Graph is a rooted directed graph where each node of the graph represents a method and each edge (u, v) represents a method call from method u to method v.
Focus of this thesis is on building a framework for Call Graph construction algorithms which can be used in program analysis. Our framework is able to be initialized by different front-ends and constructs various Call Graph algorithms. Here, we instantiate framework with two bytecode readers (ASM and Soot) as front-ends and implement three Call Graph construction algorithms (CHA, RTA and CTA).
At first, we used two above mentioned bytecode readers to read the bytecode of a specific Java program, then we found reachable methods for each invoked method; meanwhile we kept obtained details on our own data structures. Creating data structures for storing required information about Classes, Methods, Fields and Statements, gives us a great opportunity to implement an independent framework for applying well known Call Graph algorithms. As a result of these data structures, Call Graph construction will not depend on bytecode readers; since, whenever we read the bytecode of a program, we accumulate all necessary points in pre-defined data structures and implement our Call Graphs based on this accumulated data.
Finally, the result is a framework for different Call Graph construction algorithms which is the goal of this thesis. We tested and evaluated the algorithms with a variety of programs as the benchmark and compared the bytecode readers besides the three Call Graph algorithms in different aspects.

Full textOurs is an attempt to take a look at the role and usage of metalanguage in the transmission and construction of knoledge by Nigerian teachers and learners of French as a foreign language in the Nigeria French Language Village, Badagry. The study wishes to highlight how the learner goes beyond the level of simply using the French language as a means of expression to using it as a means of reflexion on or about the language s/he is in the process of learning. The kernel of our work is articulated around such questions as to how metalinguistic activities could enhance or inhibit the processes of learning a foreign language and as to what extent verbal interactions in the classroom situation could be a means of enhancing the construction of metalinguistic competence of learners. Finally, we made some proposals as to what pedagogical measures and/or practices to put in place in order to enhance the learning of French language by Nigerian learners through metalinguistic activities, as well as for the training of Nigerian teachers of French as a foreign language in the use of such activities

Full textRobert Macaire appears in 1823 in L’Auberge des Adrets melodrama on the stage of the L’Ambigu-Comique Theater. This play celebrates the melodrama’s history, thanks to the interpretation created by Frédérick Lemaître. He creates an extravagant costume and improvises on stage, transforming this secondary character in heroe. Our thesis highlights changes in the initial work through the actor’s play and re-contextualizes the history of the firsts performances. The character appears again in 1834 in Robert Macaire. He became an emblematic witness of the society of that time and herald for the social and political challenges of the “monarchie de Juillet”. Due to the success, the character reappears in many suites and avatars giving birth to the “Macairisme”. He thus, attracted the wrath of censorship. Beyond the theatre, he transfers in cartoons and literature, thus becoming an archetypal and mythic figure. Nevertheless, he remains strongly attached to Frédérick Lemaître with whom he creates a symbiotic couple justifying the study of the impact of the comedian in the transfiguration of the theatre in a publicized social type character. Through this study, we do analyze the success of Robert Macaire and the different uses of the character and its political implications in order to understand how and why this theatrical character has become a social type. Addressing the issue of Robert Macaire through the couple formed with Frédérick Lemaître, allows querying the real issues of “the macairienne esthetic” in the claim of the popular theatr

The Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) is a student engineering competition for which students design, build and race a single-seater racing car. Multiple events are organized every year during which the teams can compete against other universities. With more than 500 teams participating worldwide, it is the biggest student engineering competition in the world. The tests include the evaluation of the design, production costs, acceleration of the car, etc. The ULaval Racing team participated during more than 20 years at the annual Michigan competition reserved for internal combustion racecars. In order to adapt to the electrification of transportation and to the new competitions reserved for electric cars, the team designed and manufactured a high performance electric powertrain for their 2015 car. The traditional approach used to design an electric powertrain is to set the desired performances of the vehicle. These criteria include the maximum incline that the car must be able to climb, the desired range and a speed profile over time, also known as road cycle. Unfortunately, this approach is not suitable for the design of an electric powertrain for use in a Formula SAE racecar. Since this type of vehicle is not intended for city driving nor highway driving, the existing road cycles are not representative of the expected operating conditions. The realization of this project required the identification of the road cycle on which the vehicle will operate. It is used as a starting point for the design of the powertrain, which includes the electric motors, the battery pack and the power inverters. The use of a genetic optimization algorithm, followed by a local optimization coupled to a finite element analysis tool yielded an optimal solution suitable for the Formula SAE type race tracks. The drivetrain was designed, manufactured and integrated into the 2015 ULaval Racing vehicle. The car participated in various competitions intended for electric racecars and received multiple awards for its inovative design and its performance.

Full textNew approximate local DtN boundary conditions are proposed to be set on elliptical- or prolate-spheroidal exterior boundaries when solving respectively two- or three-dimensional acoustic scattering problems by elongated obstacles. These new absorbing conditions are designed to be exact for the first modes. They can be easily incorporated in any finite element parallel code while preserving the local structure of the algebraic system. Moreover, since the proposed conditions are applicable to exterior elliptical-shaped boundaries that are more suitable for surrounding elongated scatterers, they yield to smaller computational domains which contributes to limit computational burden. In the low frequency regime, using an on-surface radiation condition formulation, we perform the mathematical and numerical analysis of the effect of the frequency and the eccentricity values of the boundary on the accuracy of these conditions, when applied for solving radiating and scattering problems (2D and 3D). It reveals - in particular - that the new second-order DtN boundary condition retains a very good level of accuracy regardless of the slenderness of the boundary. In the high frequency regime we study the volumic formulation of the problem. It shows that it is not necessary to consider a big computational domain around the scatterer to obtain accurate results with the new second-order local DtN condition. The high frequency analysis of the reflection coefficient shows that it tends to 0 for propagative modes and it converges exponentially towards 0 for a special class of propagative, grazing and evanescent modes

Full textIn this thesis, we focus on the bilinear complexity of multiplication in any degree $n$ extension of the finite field $ F_{q}$, which is closely related to the tensor rank of multiplication in $ F_{q^n} $. The evaluation-interpolation type algorithm introduced by D.V and G.V Chudnovsky in 1987, is the basis of all algorithmic technique providing for now, the lower asymptotic and uniform bounds for the bilinear complexity. So far, the strategy to obtain these lower bounds was to fix the degree of places while increasing the genus of algebraic function fields. However, the study of the effective construction associated with this kind of strategy was until now neglected because of an obstacle related to the construction of a degree $n$ point, identified par Shparlinski, Tsfasman and Vladut in 1992. We present a new strategy which consists in fixing the genus of algebraic function fields while increasing the degree of places. Applying this strategy to the elliptic function fields, we show on the one hand that the tensor rank of multiplication in $ F_{q^n} $ is quasi-linear in $ n $, and on the other hand we prove that the construction of bilinear multiplication algorithms with this strategy is feasible in polynomial time. We also show how to construct explicitly these algorithms over $ F_{q^n} $ for large $n$ by illustrating the construction with an example. Finally, we establish the first asymmetric construction of the Chudnovsky type algorithm

Full textThis thesis studies the capacitive syntactic pattern, which can be found in sentences such as The tent sleeps four or The bench seats two. It expresses the quantified capacity of the referent of the subject. In this complementation pattern, the alignement between the syntactic functions and the semantic roles is not prototypical. The subject is locative and the post-verbal measure complement has an agentive role, which is canonically associated with the subject. This unusual alignment allows the speaker to express capacity. The thesis describes and analyzes this complementation pattern, which has not been studied in the literature. The description of the constituents is based on the study of a database. Several formal syntactic features of the pattern are highlighted. The subject is always perceived as a container and the verb denotes a primary need that is closely related to the container. The measure complement denotes a numerical quantity whose unit of measurement is human animates. The capacitive meaning is not expressed by a single lexeme but through the whole pattern, which is meaningful. It is shown that the capacitive interpretation emerges through the congruent link between the container (subject) and the quantified volume (measure complement). The subject has properties that make it possible for the human animates to perform the event denoted by the verb. As the pattern itself has meaning, its status of construction (an unpredictable form–meaning pairing) is investigated by studying the main features of such grammatical sequences within the framework of construction grammar

Full textSince a long time, the Sun is seen as an interesting source of renewable energy. However, the prohibitive cost of solar energy has made it mostly unused. To increase it acceptance, it is necessary to bring the cost down and make it competitive with fossil fuels. To achieve that, many possibilities exist. One method is the use of an optical system to concentrate sunlight. This thesis presents a solution based on the design of a new type of solar concentrator of low-medium concentration level made of polymer to be able to achieve low-cost fabrication. The performances of this condensed optical system which uses microlenses were then improved by the introduction of a refractive index gradient in the polymer matrix. A short analysis of the cost of the energy produced by such solar concentrators permitted to conclude that they are of commercial interest for the solar community. For this reason, the most promising design based on the use of a graded-index to increase the efficiency has been protected by a patent.
