[Truncated abstract] It is well established that anxiety vulnerability is characterised by two biased patterns of selective information processing (Mathews & MacLeod, 1986; Mogg & Bradley, 1998). First anxiety is associated with an attentional bias, reflecting the selective allocation of attention to threatening stimuli in the environment (Mathews & MacLeod, 1985; MacLeod, Mathews & Tata, 1986; MacLeod & Cohen, 1993). Second anxiety is associated with an interpretive bias, reflecting a disproportionate tendency to resolve ambiguity in a threatening manner (Mogg et al., 1994). These characteris

This study developed and tested a new typology for use in Marriage and Family Therapy. The typology was created by integrating two already established typologies currently in use in MFT, the attachment style typology and the Enneagram typology. The attachment typology is based on attachment theory, a theory of human development that focuses on how infants and adults establish, monitor and repair attachment bonds. Differences in attachment style are associated with different kinds of relationship problems. The Enneagram typology categorizes people according to differences in attention processes

Streets are the most resilient elements in a city. While buildings are replaced and property borders redrawn, the streets remain. The primary means of planning new streets and the built environment surrounding it is by the creation of a two-dimensional plan - in a Swedish context called a detailed development plan. The two-dimensional plan is sometimes criticized for its inability to take the three-dimensional world into account and thus its inability to predict the actual outcome of the plan. The purpose of this study was (1) Using empirical method to explore the effects of attention bias and attention inhibition ability about face stimuli (an adult woman or a girl’s picture) in sexual offender, (2) To understand their performance in cognitive bias and their impact on attent

Abstract:
This thesis was designed to investigate differences in aggression between girls with and without attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Forty girls with ADHD and 43 girls without ADHD aged 9- to 12- years and their mothers and teachers participated. A multiassessment methodology was used to investigate these differences, employing mothers' reports, teachers' reports, and a laboratory aggression analogue task (a computer game involving simulated girls in other rooms). The results indicated that mothers and teachers saw girls with ADHD as having much higher levels of all types of

Three hypotheses have been proposed to explain the phenomenon: (1) perceptual hypothesis, (2) attentional control hypothesis, and (3) hybrid of the above two hypotheses. In the current study, we adopted counterpredictive cueing paradigm to clarify which of the three hypotheses better explain the gender differences in the cueing effects of eye gaze or arrow cues. It is known that viewers exhibit different levels of attention toward such advertisements based on the type of webpage they are browsing (e.g., viewers typically focus their attention on the text when browsing text or video pages, and may overlook advertisements). Therefore, this study focused on the impacts that the four common types of webpages (i.e., text, picture, picture–text , and

It also applies the Psychophysiological measurement to depict the relationships between Attention Restoration and the Electromyographic. According to the related studies, different landscape types will induce different psychological response by the visual perception. However, few studies discuss the relationships between landscape types and respondents’ physical response. Therefore, three research purposes have been planed: 1) To discuss psychological responses by diffe
