Hasegawa, T., K. Terabe, T. Sakamoto, and M. Aono. Nanoionics and its device applications. Edited by A. V. Narlikar and Y. Y. Fu. Oxford University Press, 2017. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oxfordhb/9780199533060.013.8.

Abstract:
This article discusses nanoionics phenomena and their applications for making new types of electronic devices. It begins with an overview of ionic conductive materials, which are classified into two categories in terms of the charged particles: solid electrolytes in which only ions contribute to the current flow, and mixed electronic and ionic conductors in which bothelectrons and ions contribute to the current flow. It then describes the solid electrochemical reaction that controls metal-filament growth and shrinkage in an atomic switch, along with the fundamentals of an atomic switch. It also considers new types of atomic switches and several applications of atomic switches. Finally, it highlights some novel characteristics of the atomic switch such as small size, low power consumption, non-volatility, and low on-resistance. These characteristics enable us to improve the performance of present-day electronic devices.

Abstract:
This chapter examines how social delineations of boys’ singing inform the boychoir conductor’s choices for vocal technique, programming, and rehearsal procedure. The introduction identifies structural elements that delineate a boychoir from other types of choirs, especially in the United States, with its traditions of multistage maturity level singers across different vocal registers. Once established, the chapter examines signature programming, rehearsal, and performance norms, with attention to the intersection of traditional and contemporary practices. Following a consideration of the boychoir community and its relationship to the community-at-large, the chapter closes with the concluding assertion of a boychoir pedagogy that synergizes the handling of different levels of boychoir development (especially voice changes) and adult and boy meanings of boys’ singing.

Aspectos Multiprofissionais da atuação na Pneumonia associada a ventilação Mecânica - PAVM. Brazil Publishing, 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.31012/978-65-5861-165-3.

Abstract:
Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is the most often lung infection that occurs in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is characterised, specifically, for its development in the first 48 hours after the beginning of Mechanical Ventilation (MV). This kind of lung disease is also associated with longer hospital stays and higher treatment costs. Around 55% of VAPs can be prevented through interventions, scientifically proven, that turns the treatment more viable, effective and at lower costs compared to convencional treatment. The multidisciplinary team is essential in the care of the ICU patient, as it works in the maintenance of patient’s vital organic functions, therefore, in an integrated way, the professionals works to minimize the damage caused by Mechanical Ventilation (MV) in ICU patients, in particular, regarding VAP. The use of measures or bundles are able to decentralize conducts and change the focus of treatment, transforming it into treatment optimised of preventive approaches that avoids complications. Lastly, the preventive measures of VAP should be put into practice, essentially by the multidisciplinary team, aiming at a directly impact on the reduction of the rates of this specific type of pneumonia.

Etty, John. Graphic Satire in the Soviet Union. University Press of Mississippi, 2019. http://dx.doi.org/10.14325/mississippi/9781496820525.001.0001.

Abstract:
Krokodil produced state-sanctioned satirical comments on Soviet and international affairs from 1922 onward. Authored by professional and non-professional contributors, and published by Pravda in Moscow, it became the satirical magazine with the largest circulation in the world. Every Soviet citizen and every scholar of the USSR was familiar with Krokodil as the most significant and influential source of graphic satire in the USSR. This book uses an original framework for reconsidering the forms, production, consumption, and functions of Krokodil magazine. It considers the magazine's content, structures and conventions; it also uses modern cultural and media theory to look beyond content analysis to consider visual language and the performative construction of character. Empirical analysis of Krokodil is thus used to extend and nuance our understanding of Soviet graphic satire beyond state-sponsored propaganda. In several ways, this book challenges existing approaches. It conducts close readings of a large range of different types of cartoons that have not before been discussed in depth, and it does so in ways that reveal new insights. It shows that Krokodil's satire was complex, subtle and intermedial. It highlights the importance of Krokodil's readers' and artists' collaborative exploration and shaping of the boundaries of permissible discourse, and it argues that Krokodil's cartoons simultaneously affirmed, refracted and critiqued official discourses, counterposing them with visions of Soviet citizens' responses. Ideology, Krokodil's satire suggests, is an interpretive tool for negotiating everyday reality and official discourses, and it was not always to be taken seriously.
