The article reviews modern classifications of innovation types. Currently, scientific sources mention a great number of classifications that were developed on the basis of various criteria, some of which duplicate each other. Some innovation types were mistakenly added to this or that classification group. Also, some innovations that do not belong to the “innovation” category are erroneously classified as “innovations”. In this connection, it is necessary to analyze, organize and systematize the existing classifications of innovation types. The author has made a summary classification that inc

Unfortunately, with innovation activity closely related is uncertainty risk, that means insecurity that costly process of creating innovation solutions will succeed. By dint of necessity of high costs of innovation activity, only small percent of enterprises have their own research and development buck-up. More and more popular become external sources of information for innovative activity, such as: customers

Nowadays, Innovation is known as an essential component of competitiveness, classified in different types in literature. For instance, on one hand it is classified based on OECD as product, process, marketing and organizational innovations and on the other hand as incremental, competence developing, market developing and radical ones based on the degree of internal and external newness. Also, innovation models have changed from “simple linear” to “networking interactions” and concepts such as ‘open innovation’ and ‘innovation network’ have become important to both academic and market society d

The paper examines eco-innovation strategies in the Canadian wine industry. It uses firm-level data of 151 wine firms that developed eco-innovations between 2015 and 2017 to build a taxonomy of four eco-innovation strategies: (i) eco-innovation laggers, (ii) product-oriented eco-innovators, (iii) process-oriented eco-innovators, and (iv) fully integrated eco-innovators. We then characterize these eco-innovation strategies with respect to firm-level innovation capabilities, firms’ knowledge openness, and firms’ specific characteristics. The results reveal heterogeneity in eco-innovation strateg

To compare the consequences of different types of major organizational innovation and to identify the characteristics of more beneficial innovations, a telephone interview survey of senior managers from 513 UK organizations was conducted. Although 90% of major innovations were reported to have an overall beneficial impact, statistical analyses showed that specific effects on finances, employee relations, customers, and quality of life depended on the type of innovation and its characteristics. The effects of different types of innovation were related but not reducible to their characteristics.

This paper analyses the direct and indirect effects of social capital (SC), human capital (HC) and customer capital (CC) on the different types of innovations via organisational capital (OC) in the service sector. The study gathered data from 198 managers in the Egyptian banks (54% response rate). The research findings indicate that product, process and organisational innovations are positively associated with OC, SC and HC have direct and indirect positive effects on both product and organisational innovation via OC. It seems that SC and HC do not have a direct influence on process innovation

We combine patent registration data and other innovation and economic data across 225 regions, 13 years, and eight patent classes. The approach allows us to form several regional clusters according to their specific innovation types and captures spatio-temporal dynamics too subtle for most other clustering methods.
