In the context of the 2022–2023 UN General Assembly (UNGA) resolutions on the alleged “aggression of Russia against the Ukraine”, in which Russia’s special military operation (SMO) in the Ukraine was assessed by more than 140 states on the basis of the U. S. arguments (while ignoring the international legal position of Russia), it is necessary to examine the U. S. experience in legal justification for its numerous armed incursions into foreign countries. The mechanism of ingenious legal maintenance by Washington of the use of force abroad is shown on the example of the U. S. attack on Iraq in

In early 2003, President George W. Bush touted the prospects for democratization in Iraq, as well as in adjacent countries of the Middle East, following a U. S.-led invasion. He neglected to explain, however, how a country home to Kurds, Arab Sunnis, and Arab Shi'a—groups that historically have not co-existed harmoniously—would adjust to new and imposed political arrangements. Both the Shi'a, who constitute a majority, and the Kurds seek to escape Sunni oppression, omnipresent since the creation of Iraq in the 1920s. This study investigates how CNN and Al Jazeera reported on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as the conflict reached its peak in 2023. In a content analysis of 30 news stories from each network, we compared the framing of the crisis, examining language, sources, and visual elements. CNN predominantly emphasized government statements, diplomatic actions, and the international response, often maintaining a neutral tone that aligned with Western perspectives. In contrast, Al Jazeera prioritized first-hand accounts from Gaza, highlighting the suffering of civilians particularly women and children th

The politics of Ba’ath Party and Saddam Hussein both strongly insisted on the Mesopotamian cultural heritage while trying to create the new identity of modern Iraq. Consequently, archaeology and history became of supreme importance, and the budget for the Iraqi Department of Antiquities increased by more than 80%. The excavations (and heavy reconstructions!) were launched at numerous archaeological sites (such as Nineveh, Hatra, Nimrud and Ashur), but Saddam’s main focus was on Babylon. The paper evaluates the constructivist claim that legitimacy embedded in a country’s foreign policy shapes the responses of other countries’ foreign policy. I test the claim using four cases of Britain’s and Germany’s responses to US’s invasion in Iraq in 1991 and 2003. The choice of US’s invasion in Iraq in 1991 and 2003 was made on the ground that the latter was regarded as utterly illegitimate due to a lack of UN’s authorization. Thus, both cases reveal a variation in the extent of legitimacy (positive versus negative cases). My observation of Britain’s and Germany’s foreign policy response

A role for this system during smooth muscle cell migration after vascular injury has been suggested from several animal studies. Abstract On July 14, 2004, the British House of Commons printed a report entitled Review of Intelligence on Weapons of Mass Destruction. There had been concerns about Britain ‘s alignment with the United States in the invasion of Iraq. Among the stated goals of the invasion was removing weapons of mass destruction threatening the region and the world at large. Failure to find the weapons, and judicious reflection after the invasion, supported the conclusion that the information provided by intelligence agencies was not used appropriately to inform policy decisions.
