Abstract:
Kulit ubi kayu merupakan limbah agroindustri seperti industri tepung tapioka, industri fermentasi dan industri produk makanan. Jumlah limbah kulit ubi kayu yang cukup besar bila tidak ditangani dengan baik dan benar dikhawatirkan akan menimbulkan masalah pencemaran lingkungan. Salah satu upaya pemanfaatan limbah kulit ubi kayu yaitu dilakukan dengan mengolahnya menjadi karbon aktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh suhu karbonisasi terhadap kualitas karbon aktif yang dihasilkan dari kulit ubi kayu dan mengetahui suhu optimum untuk mendapatkan karbon aktif dengan kualitas yang bagus. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan variasi suhu karbonisasi yaitu suhu 300 0C, 450 0C dan suhu 600 0C, serta diaktivasi secara kimia dengan KCl 10 %. Pengujian kualitas karbon aktif dilakukan terhadap rendemen, kadar air, kadar abu, daya serap terhadap Iod dan methylene blue. Kualitas karbon aktif dari kulit ubi kayu yang paling baik adalah karbon aktif yang dikarbonisasi pada suhu 600 0C dengan hasil rendemen 16,844 %, kadar air 2,910 %, kadar abu 1,920 %, daya serap terhadap iod 792,427 mg/g dan daya serap terhadap methylene blue 19,925 mg/g.

Abstract:
Adsorbent made by carbonization of biomass under oxygen-limited conditions has become a promising material for wastewater treatment owing to its cost-effective, simple, and eco-friendly processing method. Ultrasound is considered a green technique to modify carbon materials because it uses water as the solvent. In this study, a comparison of Reactive Black 5 (RB5) adsorption capacity between biochar (BC) generated by pyrolysis of water bamboo (Zizania latifolia) husks at 600 °C and ultrasound-assisted biochar (UBC) produced by pyrolysis at 600 °C assisted by ultrasonic irradiation was performed. UBC showed a greater reaction rate and reached about 80% removal efficiency after 4 h, while it took 24 h for BC to reach that level. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images indicated that the UBC morphology surface was more porous, with the structure of the combination of denser mesopores enhancing physiochemical properties of UBC. By Brunauer, Emmett, and Teller (BET), the specific surface areas of adsorbent materials were analyzed, and the surface areas of BC and UBC were 56.296 m2/g and 141.213 m2/g, respectively. Moreover, the pore volume of UBC was 0.039 cm3/g, which was higher than that of BC at 0.013 cm3/g. The adsorption isotherms and kinetics revealed the better fits of reactions to Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic model, indicating the inclination towards monolayer adsorption and chemisorption of RB5 on water bamboo husk-based UBC.

Tanaman ubi jalar ungu (Ipomoea batatas L.) mudah didapat dan banyak kegunaannya,terutama bagian umbi ubi jalar ungu yang banyak diolah masyarakat sedangkan bagian daun dan batang pemanfaatnya belum maksimal. Umbinya telah diketahui mempunyai aktivitas dapat menurunkan kadar gula darah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek penurunan kadar glukosa darah dari ekstrak etanol daun dan batang ubi jalar ungu serta golongan senyawa yang terkandung dalam ekstrak. Desain penelitian menggunakan randomized pre-test post-test kontrol grup desain. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan 15 ekor tikus jantan galur wistar dan dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif (akuades), kontrol positif (metformin 45 mg/kgBB), kelompok perlakuan ubi jalar ungu dosis 150; 300; 600 mg/kgBB, sebelumnya masing –masing tikus dinduksi dengan aloksan 150 mg/kgBB, dan dilakukan pemantauan selama 14 hari. Pemeriksaan kadar gula darah menggunakan spektrofotometer visibel dengan panjang gelombang 500 nm. Data dianalisis secara statistik untuk mengetahui perubahan kadar gula darah. Hasil yang didapat dengan pemberian ekstrak pada dosis 150, 300, dan 600 mg/kgBB selama pemantauan 14 hari dapat menurunkan kadar gula darah berturut – turut menjadi 96,33 ± 4,72 ; 66,67 ± 16,16 ; dan 142,67 ± 27,06 mg/dL. Ekstrak etanol daun dan batang ubi jalar ungu memiliki kandungan senyawa yaitu alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin dan senyawa fenolik. The purple sweet potato plant (Ipomoea batatas L.) is easy to obtain and has many uses, especially the purple sweet potato tubers which are mostly utilized by the people, while the utilization of its leaves and stem are not maximized. Its tuber has been known to have activity in reducing blood sugar levels.This research aimed to evaluate the effect of ethanol extract of leaves and stems of purple sweet potatoes in reducing blood glucose level as well as to identify its chemical constituents. The study was design by a randomized pre-test post-test control group. The animal used were 15 wistar male rats which divided into 5 groups, these include negative control (distilled water), positive control (metformin 45 mg/kgBW), treatment group of purple sweet potatoes with the doses of 150; 300; 600 mg/kgBW, before the treatment all rats were induced by aloxan 150 mg/kgBW, and all groups were observed for 14 days. Blood glucose level was determined using UV-Vis spectophotometer at wavelength of 500 nm. The data were analyzed statistically to evaluate blood glucose level alteration. The result showed that the extract at doses of 150, 300, dan 600 mg/kgBW decrease blood glucose level in 14 days observation, the blood glucose levels were 96.33 ± 4.72 ; 66.67 ± 16.16 ; and 142.67 ± 27.06 mg/dL, respectively. Penggunaan pengering bertenaga hybrid memiliki keunggulan dapat memanfaatkan tenaga matahari dan biomasa sehingga dapat digunakan pada kondisi cuaca kurang baik, diantaranya untuk pengeringan sawut ubi kayu terfermentasi. Tujuan penelitian ini mengevaluasi keragaan Pengering Hybrid Energi Surya dan Biomasa arang kayu (PHESB) untuk mengeringkan sawut ubi kayu terfermentasi. Keragaan PHESB dievaluasi menggunakan model linier dan exponensial untuk menentukan laju pengeringan (% bb/jam), kapasitas pengeringan (kg/jam), dan kelayakan finansial penerapannya. Mutu hasil pengeringan dianalisis dengan uji homogenitas koefisien regresi (laju pengeringan) dari model pengeringan yang mempunyai tingkat koefisien derterminasi (R2) terbesar dari pengamatan kadar air sawut dalam arah tegak (atas, tengah, bawah) dan mendatar (depan, tengah, belakang). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada kadar air awal sawut ubi kayu 71,45% bb dan rata-rata suhu pengeringan 40,51 + 3,61 oC, penurunan kadar air sawut ubi kayu mengikuti model linier dengan R2 dari 0,969 sampai 0,984 dengan laju pengeringan homogen baik dalam arah tegak maupun mendatar. Karakteristik PHESB dapat dinyatakan dengan model linier y =-5,081x +78,30 (R2=0,978). Dengan model ini diperoleh kapasitas pengeringan 20,86 kg/jam untuk mencapai kadar air sawut ubi kayu 14% bb. Dengan harga alat pengering Rp. 40 juta/unit dan ongkos jasa pengeringan sawut ubi kayu basah Rp 600/kg diperoleh nisbah keuntungan dengan biaya pengeringan (B/C)<1,0. Secara teknis PHESB layak digunakan, tetapi secara finansial masih belum layak diterapkan dalam bentuk penjualan jasa pengering sawut ubi kayu.

Plastik biodegradable adalah plastik yang dapat terdegradasi oleh mikroorganisme dan terbuat dari bahan yang dapat diperbaharui, sehingga tidak merusak lingkungan. Pada penelitian ini plastik dibuat dengan bahan utamanya berasal dari pati batang ubi kayu dan pati ubi kayu, dengan memvariasikan suhu yaitu dengan suhu 550C dan 600C dan3 variasi volume gliserol yaitu 6%, 7%, 8%. Untuk meningkatkan karakteristik dari plasik dibutuhkan penambahan bahan yaitu gliserol. Fungsi penambahan gliserol agar plastik yang dihasilkan fleksibel. Pada penelitian ini, diperoleh hasil karakterisasi terbaik untuk uji ketahanan tarik pada variasi gliserol 8% dan suhu 600C didapatkan dengan nilai 274,6 MPa. Sedangkan elongasi terbaik pada variasi gliserol 6% dan suhu 550C didapatkan dengan nilai 147,12 %. Untuk hasil penelitian uji degradasi yaitu plastik pada penelitian ini mampu terurai secara sempurna selama 15 hari.

ABSTRAK Nanopartikel emas telah berhasil disintesis menggunakan teknologi Green Sintesis memanfaatkan Ekstrak Ubi Jalar Ungu (Ipomea batatas) sebagai agen pereduksi emas menjadi nanopartikel emas. Secara fisika terbentuknya nanopartikel emas ditandai dengan perubahan warna ketika larutan emas direaksikan dengan pereduksi ekstrak Ubi Jalar Ungu dari kuning menjadi merah anggur. Selain itu pengukuran menggunakan Spektroskopi UV-Vis juga menunjukkan bahwa telah terbentuk nanopartikel emas yang ditandai dengan terbentuk puncak pada kisaran panjang gelombang 500 – 600 nm. Pengukuran nanopartikel emas yang dihasilkan pada berbagai variasi waktu menunjukkan bahwa nanopartikel emas yang dihasilkan cukup stabil terhadap waktu yang ditandai dengan puncak yang terbentuk pada kisaran 541 – 544 nm. Kata kunci: Nanopartikel Emas, Green Sintesis, Ubi Jalar Ungu, Spektroskopi UV-Vis ABSTRACT Gold nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized using Green Synthesis technology utilizing Purple Sweet Potato Extract (Ipomea batatas) as a reducing agent of gold into gold nanoparticles. In physics the formation of gold nanoparticles marked with a color change when a solution of gold reacted with the reducing Purple sweet potato extract from yellow to red wine. Measurements using UV-Vis spectroscopy also showed that gold nanoparticles have been formed which is characterized by peaks formed in the wavelength range of 500-600 nm. Measurement of the gold nanoparticles produced at various times showed that gold nanoparticles produced quite stable over time characterized by peaks formed in the range of 541-544 nm. Abstrak. Ubi jalar ungu (Ipomoea batatas L.) merupakan salah satu komoditas pertanian yang banyak di Indonesia. Ubi jalar ungu kaya akan pigmen antosianin dan tersebar merata di seluruh umbinya. Pembuatan serbuk antosianin ubi jalar ungu merupakan salah satu solusi untuk memperluas aplikasi pewarna alami dan praktis dalam penggunaannya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi maltodekstrin dan suhu pengeringan terhadap kualitas sifat kimia serbuk antosianin hasil ekstraksi ubi jalar ungu. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) Faktorial dengan 2 faktor. Faktor I adalah konsentrasi maltodekstrin yang terdiri dari 4 taraf (0%, 2%, 4% dan 6%) dan faktor II adalah suhu pengeringan yang terdiri dari 2 taraf (500C dan 600C). Penambahan maltodekstrin pada pembuatan serbuk antosianin ubi jalar ungu menghasilkan penurunan intensitas warna tetapi meningkatkan rendemen dan pH. Semakin tinggi suhu pengeringan cenderung menyebabkan penurunan intensitas warna tetapi meningkatkan pH serbuk antosianin ubi jalar ungu. Berdasarkan intensitas warna, kombinasi perlakuan terbaik diperoleh pada perlakuan penambahan maltodekstrin 4% dan suhu pengeringan 500C yang menghasilkan rendemen 21,71%, intensitas warna (Absorbansi) 0,472, dan pH 3,60.

Clinical Relevance The degree of conversion of contemporary universal adhesives positively correlates with the bond strength to dentin. The correlation is more marked after thermocycling, suggesting that a high degree of conversion is required for long-term dentin bonding durability. SUMMARY Purpose: The objectives of this study were to evaluate the micro-tensile bond strength (μTBS) of five contemporary universal adhesives to dentin after 24 hours and thermocycling (TC), to measure their degrees of conversion (DC) and to test the correlation between μTBS and DC. Methods and Materials: Four commercially available universal adhesives, Prime&Bond universal (PBU), Ecosite Bond (EB), G-Premio Bond (GPB), and Clearfil Universal Bond Quick (UBQ), and one experimental adhesive, UBQ without an amide monomer (UBQ-A), were used in this study. For the μTBS test, midcoronal dentin of 50 human molars was exposed, ground using 600-grit SiC paper, and the adhesives were applied according to the manufacturers’ instructions. After resin-composite buildup and 24-hour water storage, one-half of the specimens were subjected to 15,000 thermal cycles. The specimens were sectioned into beams and stressed in tension at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min until failure. The DC of adhesives applied to dentin was evaluated using attenuated total reflectance Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy immediately after light-curing. All data were statistically analyzed at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The highest μTBSs were obtained with UBQ, UBQ-A, and PBU, which were not significantly different from each other both after 24 hours and TC. The μTBS of GPB was lower compared with the aforementioned adhesives, but significantly only after TC, and the lowest μTBSs were obtained with EB. TC did not affect the μTBSs of UBQ, UBQ-A, and PBU significantly, but a significant decrease was observed with GPB and EB. The highest DC was obtained with PBU and UBQ, followed by 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate–rich adhesives UBQ-A and EB, which exhibited significantly lower DCs. The DC of GPB could not be determined because the reference peak at 1608 cm−1 was not detected in its spectra. A significant positive correlation was shown between μTBS and DC after 24 hours (r=0.716) and TC (r=0.856). Conclusion: μTBS and DC were positively correlated, more markedly after TC, which suggests that DC may be an important factor for bond durability.

Abstract:
Background. There are continual efforts to identify factors which influence the success of first-line therapy for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. The 13C-urea breath test result (C13-UBT) utilizes H. pylori urease activity and is a highly accurate diagnostic assay. We aimed to determine whether the magnitude of C13-UBT result is related to treatment success. Methods. Adult patients who underwent a first-time 13C-urea breath test between January 2010 and January 2016 were included. In order to isolate a naïve test-and-treat population who were unlikely to have undergone an initial endoscopy-based H. pylori test, we excluded patients > 45 years and those with a previous C13-UBT. Data were extracted from the Clalit Health Services laboratory database. Results. A total of 94,590 subjects (36.1% male, age 28.5 ± 6.0 years) who underwent a first-time C13-UBT during the study period were included. C13-UBT was positive in 48,509 (51.3%) subjects. A confirmatory posttreatment C13-UBT was performed in 18,375 (37.8%), and eradication was successful in 12,018 (65.4%). The mean C13-UBT recording was 20.6 ± 16.2 DOB in subjects with successful eradication and 19.5 ± 13.1 DOB in subjects with treatment failure (OR, 1.01; 95% CI 1.00-1.01, p<0.01). Among patients in the upper quintile of C13-UBT measurement, eradication was achieved in 67.6%, compared to 62.6% in the lower quintile (OR, 1.22; 95% CI 1.11-1.35, p<0.01). Subjects in the top 1 percentile (C13-UBT ≥ 70 DOB) achieved eradication in 75.0%, compared to 65.3% among subjects with C13-UBT < 70 DOB (OR, 1.59; 95% CI 1.05-2.41, p<0.01). Conclusions. The superiority in H. pylori eradication observed in subjects with a higher C13-UBT DOB is small but significant. Further studies should examine the physiological and microbiological basis for this finding.

This study aims to examine the extent to which the use of sweet potato leaves on the performance of rabbit cattle include feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion. The study used 20 rabbits of New Zealand White rabbit aged 4-6 weeks with initial body weight 400-600 g / tail. The design of this study using Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments and 4 replications with the level of sweet potato leaves in the feed that is R0: 0%, R1: 25%, R2: 50%, R3: 75%, R4: 100%. The data were tested by multiform analysis, if there is a real effect of further test using Test of Honest Significance Difference (HSD). No estado da Paraíba, as perdas de sementes e grãos de milho (Zea mays L.) provocadas principalmente pela colheita, debulha mecânica, beneficiamento e processos subseqüentes, são da ordem de 20%, acarretando prejuízos econômicos ao estado. Assim, estudaram-se as danificações decorrentes da debulha mecânica e da passagem das sementes de milho, variedades Cruzeta e Sertanejo, pelas diferentes etapas do beneficiamento. Para avaliar os danos provocados às sementes, utilizou-se uma debulhadora estacionária trabalhando a rotações de 520, 600 e 700 rpm, obtidas pela variação da aceleração do motor do trator ao qual a debulhadora se achava acoplada, como também das etapas promovidas pela UBS. Os danos foram avaliados visualmente e analisados em um delineamento estatístico inteiramente casualizado, com os tratamentos distribuídos em esquema fatorial. A variedade Cruzeta foi mais resistente aos impactos provocados pela debulha e pelo beneficiamento; o efeito do impacto na qualidade das sementes torna-se mais evidente com a elevação da velocidade do cilindro debulhador; a rotação de 600 rpm mostrou-se a mais indicada para a debulha do milho Cruzeta e Sertanejo.

This study aims to determine the effect giving of ethylacetate fraction of leather purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam, on levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) serum in mice hyperglicemia were induced with streptozocin dose of 50 mg/kgBW. Mice were divided into 5 groups, each group consisting of 3 tails, group I is a negative control, group II is a positive control, group III,IV and V is given ethylacetate fraction a dose of 100 mg/kgBW, 300 mg/kgBW, and 600 mg/kgBW. Ethyl Acetate Fraction leather purple sweet potato given orally for 15 days after the animal is declared hyperglicemia and measurement of blood glucose levels on 5, 10, and 15 day after giving test preparation in animal experiments. On the 16 day throughout the mice were taken serum levels measured malondialdehid. The statistical analysis results showed that giving of ethyl acetate fraction of leather purple sweet potato at a dose of 100 mg/kgBW, 300 mg/kgBW, and 600 mg/kgBW can lower blood glucose levels in mice hyperglycemia significantly (p<0.05). Malondialdehid levels on average in each group is 1.35 nmol/ml, 3.00 nmol/ml, 2.72 nmol/ml, 2.20 nmol/ml and 2.61 nmol/ml, the results of statistical analysis showed a decrease in melondialdehid serum levels were significantly (p<0.05), where a dose of 300 mg/kgBW is an effective dose for lowering blood glucose levels followed by decreased levels of malondialdehid which give effect approaching negative control.

Abstract:
The effect of the 3' codon context on the efficiency of nonsense suppression in mammalian tissue culture cells has been tested. Measurements were made following the transfection of cells with a pRSVgal reporter vector that contained the classical Escherichia coli lacZ UAG allele YA559. The position of this mutation was mapped by virtue of its fortuitous creation of a CTAG MaeI restriction enzyme site. Determination of the local DNA sequence revealed a C-->T mutation at codon 600 of the lacZ gene: CAG-->TAG. Site-directed mutagenesis was used to create a series of vectors in which the base 3' to the nonsense codon was either A, C, G, or U. Suppression of the amber-containing reporter was achieved by cotransfection with genes for human tRNA(Ser) or tRNA(Gln) UAG nonsense suppressors and by growth in the translational error-promoting aminoglycoside drug G418. Nonsense suppression was studied in the human cell lines 293 and MRC5V1 and the simian line COS-7. Overall, the rank order for the effect of changes to the base 3' to UAG was C < G = U < A. This study confirms and extends earlier findings that in mammalian cells 3' C supports efficient nonsense suppression while 3' A is unsympathetic for read-through at nonsense codons. The rules for the mammalian codon context effect on nonsense suppression are therefore demonstrably different from those in E. coli.

Talas (Colocasia esculentaL.) merupakan salah satu komoditas hortikultura unggulan di Kabupaten Sumedang setelah ubi kayu dan ubi jalar. Menurut Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Sumedang (2015), jumlah produksi talas semir sekitar 2.774 ton per tahun dengan luas panen seluas 243 ha. Salah satu daerah penghasil talas di Kabupaten Sumedang terdapat pada Desa Sukawening, Kampung Gorowong, Kecamatan Ganeas, Kabupaten Sumedang. Dalam era globalisasi seperti saat ini, perkembangan teknologi banyak membantu manusia dalam memudahkan pekerjaan, sehingga bisa diperoleh efisiensi kerja yang tinggi. Di samping untuk memenuhi kebutuhan, munculnya penemuan baru tersebut dilatar belakangi oleh penggunaan tenaga manusia yang terbatas karena masih dilakukan dengan cara tradisional. Hal tersebut akan dialihkan ke teknologi tepat guna, supaya tingkat efisiensi serta efektivitas menjadi lebih baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang bangun mesin pengupas kulit talas, sehingga mampu mempercepat proses pengupasan dan mempermudah proses pengirisan maupun penepungan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode rekayasa (engineering). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kapasitas aktual mesin pengupas kulit talas sebesar 22 kg/jam serta memiliki dimensi panjang keseluruhan 750 mm, lebar 600 mm dan tinggi 1060 mm, Hasil uji fungsional menunjukkan bahwa mesin pengupas talas ini sudah berfungsi dengan baik.

Fragments constitute a major part of the holdings of the the University Library of Leipzig (UBL), with some 800 loose fragments, at least 600 fragments in situ in incunabula, and an unknown number bound in manuscript volumes and sixteenth-eighteenth century prints. Over a series of projects working with detached and in situ fragments, the Leipzig Manuscript Centre developed a description scheme for manuscript fragments in its collection. A Fragmentarium case study provided the opportunity to test this scheme for its efficiency in producing useful information for specialists. As a result, in 2017 the case study published on Fragmentarium over 250 fragments with description, including some scholarly significant finds that are already having an impact.

The stratigraphy of Upper Big Creek Lake (UBC), an overflowing lake in northern Colorado, indicates that the lake responded to a series of hydroclimatic changes over the past ~ 13,000 years. Modern sediments in eight comparator lakes from across Wyoming and Colorado facilitate the stratigraphic interpretation by showing that littoral sediments have exponentially higher sand content, lower loss-on-ignition (LOI), and lower net accumulation rates than off-shore sediments. Sand layers in two near-shore cores from UBC share the characteristics of the modern littoral sediments (> 80% sand, < 5% LOI, and < 10 cm/ka accumulation rates), and indicate that UBC was > 1.9 m below its outlet from 12,500 to 11,300 and from 7500 to 2100 cal yr BP. Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) profiles consistent with the low-water episodes show correlative sand layers and submerged wave-cut scarps around the lake margin. The stratigraphic features correlate with those formed in the comparator lakes during extensive droughts at > 11,300, 6900–6000, and 4800–3400 cal yr BP as well as a series of north-south anti-phased droughts between 5800 and 1200 cal yr BP. Lake closure at UBC amplified the local changes, and demonstrates that climate changes can increase the extent of intermittent streamflow in the Rocky Mountains relative to today.

Abstrak. Es krim merupakan jajanan yang digemari sehingga memiliki segmen pasar yang luas. Namun tidak semua orang bisa mengomsumsi es krim yang berasal dari susu karena tidak suka dengan aromanya atau menderita alergi susu. Salah satu solusinya yaitu pembuatan es krim nabati, yang pada penelitian ini digunakan bahan nabati berupa ubi jalar ungu dan santan kelapa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pembuatan es krim berbahan baku pati ubi jalar dan santan. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) satu faktor, dengan faktor yang dikaji adalah jumlah skim (persentase kapasitas serap air) (K) yang terdiri dari 5 taraf, yaitu jumlah skim 200 % (K1), jumlah skim 400 % (K2), jumlah skim 600 % (K3), jumlah skim 800 % (K4) dan jumlah skim 1000 % (K5). Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 5 kali sehingga diperoleh 20 satuan percobaan. Analisis yang dilakukan yaitu over run, kecepatan leleh, organoleptik (warna, teksturdan kecepatan leleh), serta analisis lemak, total antosianin, protein dan total mikroba pada sampel dengan perlakuan terbaik. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa jumlah skim berpengaruh sangat signifikan terhadap over run dan kecepatan leleh, dimana es krim memiliki over run berkisar 15,9 – 49,0 % dan kecepatan lelehnya 13,0 – 28,5 menit. Pada uji organoleptik, jumlah skim berpengaruh sangatnyata terhadap warna dan kecepatan leleh, dimana es krim memiliki warna berkisar dari ungu muda sampai ungu tua serta kecepatan lelehnya berkisar dari cepat sampai lambat. Berdasarkan uji Friedman, diperoleh es krim dengan perlakuan terbaik yaitu perlakuan jumlah skim 800 % (K4). Es krim dengan perlakuan terbaik memiliki kada protein 3,9 %, total antosianin 111,47 mg/L, lemak 7,2 % dan total mikroba 2 sel/ml. Corrosion is a form of damage that occurs in metals. The main factor is the cause of the corrosion environment. A53 steel is a type of low carbon steel and a steel material types that are widely used for pipe applications. The use of a corrosion inhibitor is one way of preventing corrosion. Anthocyanin substances contained in purple yam can be made in a natural inhibitor, because the substance is an antioxidant anthocyanin which is an oxidation inhibitor. Variables used were varied concentration of 0 ppm, 2000 ppm, 4000 ppm and 6000 ppm. This study aims to determine the rate of corrosion, purpel sweet potato extract efficiencies and changes in microstructure. The method used in this study is experimental, inhibitor efficiency analysis, ANOVA test and analysis micro photo. The results showed that the material is corroded by pitting corrosion and uniform shape. Values on concentration lowest corrosion rate of 0.0044 mmpy 6000 ppm and 6000 ppm at the highest efficiency of 72.70%. Keywords: anthocyanin, steel A53, natural inhibitor, purple sweet potato.

Faktor pertama dosis pupuk KCl (K) dengan 4 tarap yaitu : dosis 150 kg/ha, dosis 300 kg/ha, dosis 450 kg/ha dan dosis 600 kg/ha. Faktor kedua jenis mulsa (M) dengan 3 tarap yaitu : tanpa mulsa, mulsa jerami, mulsa plastik hitam perak. Data hasil pengamatan dianalisis secara statistik menurut uji F pada taraf 5%. Jika F hitung lebih besar dari F tabel 5% berarti berpengaruh berbeda nyata maka dilanjutkan dengan Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT). Interaksi antara dosis pupuk dan jenis mulsa berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah daun umur 6 MST, indeks luas daun umur 35 HST dan umur 42 HST, laju asimilasi bersih umur 35 HST. Selanjutnya dosis pupuk KCl berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah cabang, jumlah daun umur 4 MST dan umur 6 MST. ABSTRACT In a randomized crossover study, 12 volunteers (6 males, 6 females) received a single oral dose of 600 mg of linezolid or 500 mg of ciprofloxacin to assess the concentrations in plasma (up to 24 h), urinary excretion (by high-pressure liquid chromatography), and bactericidal titers in urine (UBT) at intervals up to 120 h. The mean maximum concentration of linezolid in plasma was 13.1 mg/liter, and that of ciprofloxacin was 2.46 mg/liter. The median cumulative levels of renal excretion of the administered dose of the parent drug were 44% for linezolid (range, 28 to 47%; mean ± standard deviation, 40% ± 7.8%) and 43% for ciprofloxacin (range, 20 to 56%; mean ± standard deviation, 40% ± 9.3%). The UBTs, i.e., the highest twofold dilution (with antibiotic-free urine used as the diluent) of urine that was still bactericidal, were determined for a reference strain and five gram-positive clinical uropathogens for which the MICs of linezolid and ciprofloxacin were as follows: Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 27278, 2 and 0.25 mg/liter, respectively; Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin susceptible), 1 and 16 mg/liter, respectively; Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin resistant), 2 and 64 mg/liter, respectively; Staphylococcus saprophyticus (methicillin susceptible), 1 and 0.25 mg/liter, respectively; Enterococcus faecalis, 2 and 1 mg/liter, respectively; and Enterococcus faecium, 2 and 1 mg/liter, respectively. The median UBTs of linezolid measured within the first 6 h were 1:96 for each of the two enterococcal strains and between 1:128 and 1:256 for the four staphylococcal strains. The median UBTs of ciprofloxacin were 1:64 for the two enterococcal strains; between 1:384 and 1:512 for the two ciprofloxacin-susceptible strains; and 1 (bactericidal activity of undiluted urine only) and 1:2 for the two resistant staphylococcal strains, respectively. The areas under the UBT-time curve (AUBT) for linezolid and ciprofloxacin showed no statistically significant (P < 0.05) differences except for a better AUBT for linezolid for the two ciprofloxacin-resistant staphylococcal strains. For linezolid there were no statistically significant differences in UBTs or AUBTs for ciprofloxacin-susceptible and -resistant strains. Thus, the bactericidal activities of linezolid and ciprofloxacin against susceptible strains in urine were comparable, whereas linezolid also exhibited the same good bactericidal activity against ciprofloxacin-resistant strains. Therefore, linezolid should be tested for use as empirical treatment for complicated urinary tract infections due to gram-positive uropathogens in an appropriate clinical trial.

Abstract:
Aims. NGC 1502 is located at the periphery of the Cam OB1 association and probably within the Orion Spur, with published distance estimates varying between 0.7 and 1.5 kpc. We combine new polarimetric observations and existing uvbyβ and UBV photometries to provide new estimates of the cluster’s parameters. Methods. We present new multi-wavelength polarization observations of 22 stars in the direction of the cluster and, using the wavelength of maximum polarization, calculate the total-to-selective extinction ratio for each of these stars. These are combined with homogenized uvbyβ and UBV photometries to obtain the individual stellar distances and study the structure of the field. Results. We found no evidence of significant extinction variation across the cluster and obtained an average color excess E(b − y) = 0.56 ± 0.02 mag, corresponding to E(B − V) = 0.76 mag. Given the uniformity of both pmax and λmax toward the cluster and the distribution of the color excess with distance, it seems likely that the polarization in this region arises from aligned dust grains in the foreground of the cluster, not farther than 500–600 pc. Based on 20 stars located beyond 500 pc within the studied field of view, we obtained an average polarization-based total-to-selective extinction ratio R = 2.83 ± 0.14 yielding visual absorption AV = 2.14 ± 0.16 mag. Using 11 stars with uvbyβ data that represent the main sequence of the cluster, we calculated a photometric distance of 1117−89+96 pc. This estimate is fully supported by the UBV -based analysis and the new individual membership probabilities that we derive. Assuming a solar metallicity yields an age of 5 Myr. Our analysis yields controversial results regarding the membership of the stars associated with the SZ Cam system (HD 25638 and HD 25639) to the cluster.

ABSTRACT Purple Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) and Red Cana Flower (Canna coccinea Mill.) contain natural dyes (anthocyanins) which are used as an alternative natural dyes as well as natural antioxidants. This study aims to make and discover the physical evaluation of blusher preparations using natural dyes in a combination of Purple Sweet Potato extract and Red Cana Flower with a concentration of 15%: 15%, 15%: 20 %, 20%: 20%. This research used laboratory experimental methods. The results of the physical properties test showed that the resulting preparations gave a light purple to purplish pink color, had a distinctive odor of pafrum oleum rose, had a soft texture, all preparations had a homogeneous composition, the ph value of the preparations ranged from 6.00 – 6.45, the best polish at concentrations dye 20%: 20%, for 14 days of observation the color on all preparations did not change with light, and the most preferred preparations by researcher are those with dye concentrations of 20%: 20%. It shows that it can be concluded that a combination of ethanol extract of Purple Sweet Potato and Red Cana Flower. Can be used as a natural dye in blush preparations. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat serta mengetahui evaluasi fisik sediaan perona pipi dengan memanfaatkan pewarna alami pada kombinasi ekstrak Ubi Jalar Ungu dan Bunga Kana Merah dengan konsentrasi 15%:15%, 15%:20% dan 20%:20%. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental laboratorium. Hasil pengujian sifat fisik menunjukan bahwa sediaan yang dihasilkan memberikan warna ungu muda hingga merah muda keunguan, bau khas parfum oleum rose, teksturnya lembut, semua sediaan memiliki susunan yang homogen, nilai pH sediaan berkisar 6,00 - 6,45, polesan terbaik pada konsentrasi zat warna 20%:20%, selama 14 hari pengamatan warna pada semua sediaan tidak mengalami perubahan terhadap cahaya, dan sediaan yang paling disukai oleh panelis adalah sediaan dengan konsentrasi zat warna 20%:20%. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kombinasi ekstrak etanol Ubi Jalar Ungu dan Bungu Kana Merah dapat digunkan sebagai pewarna alami dalam sediaan perona pipi. Paget's disease of the bone (PDB) is an autosomal dominant trait with genetic heterogeneity, characterized by abnormal osteoclastogenesis. Sequestosome 1 (p62) is a scaffold protein that plays an important role in receptor activator of nuclear factor κB (RANK) signaling essential for osteoclast (OCL) differentiation. p62P392L mutation in the ubiquitin-associated (UBA) domain is widely associated with PDB; however, the mechanisms by which p62P392L stimulate OCL differentiation in PDB are not completely understood. Deubiquitinating enzyme cylindromatosis (CYLD) has been shown to negatively regulate RANK ligand-RANK signaling essential for OCL differentiation. Here, we report that CYLD binds with the p62 wild-type (p62WT), non-UBA mutant (p62A381V) but not with the UBA mutant (p62P392L) in OCL progenitor cells. Also, p62P392L induces expression of c-Fos (2.8-fold) and nuclear factor of activated T cells c1 (6.0-fold) transcription factors critical for OCL differentiation. Furthermore, p62P392L expression results in accumulation of polyubiquitinated TNF receptor-associated factor (TRAF)6 and elevated levels of phospho-IκB during OCL differentiation. Retroviral transduction of p62P392L/CYLD short hairpin RNA significantly increased TRAP positive multinucleated OCL formation/bone resorption activity in mouse bone marrow cultures. Thus, the p62P392L mutation abolished CYLD interaction and enhanced OCL development/bone resorption activity in PDB.
