Abstract:
The anonymously published Singspiel Des Trojanischen Paridis Urtheil which the editors of Anton Ulrich’s works have included in the second volume offers not one single indication of its authorship or date of publication. Nevertheless a quote from Jacobs Heyrath, another Singspiel presumably written by Anton Ulrich, thematic parallels with Regier-Kunst-Schatten, and especially a comparison with Andromeda, a play which with certainty can be ascribed to Anton Ulrich, can help to verify Anton Ulrich’s authorship for Des Trojanischen Paridis Urtheil. A further indication of Anton Ulrich’s authorship is the unfamiliar concentration on the aftermath of the judgement not with regard to Paris and his further fate (which is totally omitted), but to Venus’ new position in the hierarchy of Olympus.

In this work, after the introduction of some concepts of Commutative Algebra, for instance dimension, minimal number of generators, and multiplicity, we prove the existence of a very special class of modules over Cohen-Macaulay rings, the so-called Ulrich modules. It is known that, if M is a maximal Cohen-Macaulay module over such ring, then (M) e(M). Our goal in this study is to prove the main cases where the equality (M) e(M) holds.

Abstract:
Science is the god that politicians, public figures and the media swear by today. Despite the leading role attributed to it, science in its role and significance for human civilization has been criticized. German sociologist Ulrich Beck points out that science does not serve the people, but protects the backs of politicians. More than a century before that, the founder of the Theosophical Society, Helena Blavatsky, noted that many of her contemporary scientists and researchers were adapting the facts to their hypotheses instead of drawing conclusions based on empirical material. The article presents the views of Blavatsky and Beck on the role and tasks of science, trying to find common ground in both opinions. The aim is to point out the communities and alternatives that theosophy provides in view of the importance of science in the conditions of the world risk society, as Ulrich Beck defines modernity.

Abstract:
It is desirable for designers to use formal representations when interpreting customer need statements. However, to date there is no methodology that systematically evaluates the quality of information generated by a specific customer requirement derivation (CRD) method. This work develops and applies an evaluation framework that compares a traditional method rooted in work from Pahl and Beitz, and Ulrich and Eppinger, with approaches derived from affordance modeling literature. The framework is based on eight metrics derived from extant literature. Results of a pilot study involving sophomore engineering students suggest that no method is dominant but there are differences among methods on most metrics. The framework lays the basis for further research on CRD methods and offers insights for engineering education and engineers in practice.

Abstract:
A very large majority of the current product development process models put forward in textbooks present a homogenous structure, what Ulrich & Eppinger [1] call the market-pull model, presented as a generic one, while other possible product development process models are merely seen as variants. This paper focuses on the task clarification and derived activities (mainly the systematic search for customer needs through market study and the supplementary development costs it entails) and investigates two alternative strategies that are not derived from the generic process model. The first alternative is the market-pull model without an extensive task clarification. The second is the application of the so-called expeditionary marketing strategy. With the help of simplified analytic modeling, the conditions for which these alternatives are as efficient as the generic process model are discussed. This advocates the development of more flexible process models.

Abstract:
The risky nature of modern civilization finds one of its alternatives and possibilities for overcoming in the theosophical understanding of the duty of the individual to society. This is the thesis of the proposed article. The thesis is defended by comparing elements of the concept of “Risk Society” by the German sociologist Ulrich Beck and the understanding of duty and politics in Helena Blavatsky’s latest work “The Key to Theosophy”. The seemingly paradoxical comparison is argued with the need to find new ways and approaches to overcome the crisis of humanity, which has not yet been able to take advantage of the best achievements and ideas of its great minds over the centuries to this day. Personal change in the direction of high morality and responsibility to all and everything leads to a change in society – this is the main conclusion that is made in the article.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Based on the positive distraction concept in Roger S. Ulrich's supportive design theory, this research selected toys as positive distraction elements in children's venous blood sampling to find more game elements that can effectively divert children's attention and alleviate children's anxiety and fear emotions. The research designed the Children’s Venous Blood Sampling Anxiety Scale by referring to the modified version of the Yale Preoperative Anxiety Scale. The experiment took 3-5 years old children as the research object, and accessed the general distraction effects of toys on children in the process of venous blood sampling. As well as the differences of the distraction effect between normative toy and medical toy on children in blood sampling process, and the differences in long-term impact on children's emotional recovery after blood sampling were compared.

Abstract:
The pandemic laid bare: all homes aren’t equitable learning spaces. Yet, education has long considered the family and home an extension of learning. // As a liberatory act, education must consider responsive, resilient practices for equity. // If education considers the family and home as an essential learning space, a continuation of the learning experience, the inequities must be addressed. In fact, Ulrike Hanemann (2015) argues for systemic change in the attitudes of societies to support learning as a life-wide process, disrupting the idea that it is merely a classroom-based endeavor, and expanding it to include literacy learning, in particular, as situated in social practice and understood as a continuum of learning. Hanemann advocates the development of ‘literate families,’ ‘literate communities,’ and ‘literate societies.' // Yet, currently, this assumption is essentially inequitable. Arguably, it is not just literacy learning, but learning in general which must be situated equitably within society-at-large. // For the past decade, Niteo’s work (www.niteo.org) has almost exclusively focused on our global literacy equity, but now we also turn to address Covid-19’s impact on local literacy in Canada. // There are many challenges to SDG4 and literacy in Canada. Pre-pandemic, Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation’s statistics reported one out of eight students below the age of 15 and a quarter of early readers in Canada were not reading at grade level. For newcomers to Canada, the average literacy gap is equal to 3.5 years of schooling. This is not limited to newly-arrived newcomers, as established immigrants (10+ years in Canada) have a similar gap. Now, compounding this reality for newcomers is the impact of Covid - slowed academic progress, isolation, and loneliness. // We have learned much from our East African partners and can mirror their community literacy work here. // In a 2022 pilot, local newcomer families nominated by educators or NGOs, paired with UBC-O students, undertook an interest-based, intergenerational exploration of literacy learning in the spirit of play. Literacy access and equity were addressed by utilizing the resources of libraries to inspire the joy of reading. Activities together were built around Niteo’s two open education resources, When We Give Children Books and MicroCredential: Leadership in Literacy. The objective was to cultivate joyously literate communities through a focus on family-wide literacy habits to promote lifelong learning. // As a pathway to resilience and the delivery of a life-wide learning experience, this paper focuses on the Niteo pilot project "Story as Community" and its implications.
