Abstract:
Crystallization of honey is a common process of the honey industry. Liquid honey is preferred by most of the consumers and by food companies for ease of handling. Honey is commonly heated during pasteurization in order to liquefy it and inhibit any microbial growth. However, heating can degrade the main quality parameters of honey. A better method compared to expensive and time-consuming heating is desirable to pasteurize, accelerate the liquefaction and retard the crystallization process in honey. Dissertação de Mestrado em Matemática apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia
The main goal of this work is the analytical and numerical study of a differential system defined by an integro-differential equation of hyperbolic type and a convection-diffusion-reaction equation. This system arises in the mathematical modeling of drug delivery enhanced by ultrasound. In this case, the hyperbolic equation describes the target displacement generated by ultrasound and the second equation describes the drug transport. The parabolic equation depends on the displacement and eventually on its

Biodiesel production cost may be reduced by using a low-cost raw material, such as rice bran, and by in situ esterification (methanolysis), yet it gives low conversion for rice bran with low free fatty acid (FFA) content. In order to improve production yield for rice bran with mid- to low FFA content, the effects of reaction temperature, time, FFA content on ultrasound-assisted methanolysis were investigated.

But the difficult thing in laser machining is the surface uneven. This is about a study of using a pulsed Nd-YAG laser to process the Cu assisted with gas and ultrasonic.Because the process of pulsed Nd-YAG laser ablating metal is a mechanism involved ultra-high temperature, so the HAZ (heat affected zone) is usually found around processed area. It was found that during the process of ablation, molten metal spr

Crude lipid extracted quantity between the supersound and microwave-assisted lipid extraction under various solvents, extracting time and power were compared. The effect of emulsified solvent on the crude lipid extraction ratio was studied as well. The experimental results show that Isochrysis galbana extracted by microwave using the solvent mixture of n-heptane and iso-propanol in 2:1 volumetric ratio had the largest extracted quantity of crude microalgae
