ANELLI, LAURA. "UMORISMO E DOPPIAGGIO: CENSURA E MANIPOLAZIONE NELLA RISCRITTURA DELLE SITCOM AMERICANE." Doctoral thesis, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, 2017. http://hdl.handle.net/10280/24617.
Full textThe purpose of the present thesis is to analyse the translation for dubbing of humour based on taboo topics – such as, for example, references to sex, sexuality, obesity, alcohol and drug addiction – present in four American sitcoms, namely Friends, Will & Grace, How I Met Your Mother and 2 Broke Girls. Moving from the theory of rewriting introduced by Lefevere (1992), the present research aims to identify cases of manipulation and censorship in the Italian translation of the above-mentioned audiovisual texts. Following a descriptive translational approach, the English dialogues have been compared to their Italian translation. Results show that censorship and manipulation exist in the translation for dubbing even though it is not always possible to distinguish between the two. Indeed, not only the several specialists involved in the dubbing process, such as translators, dubbing directors, dubbing actors, adaptors, but also the powers linked to patronage (Lefevere 1992) can influence in several ways the translation process. However, a diachronic comparison of the analysed sitcoms demonstrates that censorial and manipulative phenomena in the translation of taboo humour are decreasing compared to the past, and this is probably due to a change in the receiving culture ideology.

Full textThis research proposes a critical inquiry of the thought of Johann Caspar Schmidt, best known as Max Stirner, both for investigate his peculiar position in the philosophical context of the early half of XIX century, and in the history of philosophy in general, and for understand the theoretical and topical interest of his proposal. The aim of the analysis is the widening of an ironic value of his work, suggested for some critics, in order to assert that Stirner makes a complex and humoristic parody of his contemporary context of thought – in particular of the works of Feuerbach, Bruno Bauer and Hegel – and of his own assumptions for displace the philosophical discours from the level of the meaning to the level of the event. In this way, his parody attains a heuristic and pragmatic function, suggesting a different idea of subjectivity as structure of difference and new ethical and political forms, based on the reconsideration of the notions of use and consumption.

Full textThis thesis analyses psycho-social coping strategies employed to face natural disasters, events which destroy infrastructure, communication systems, organisations and the entire social fabric (Sbattella, 2009). As a matter of fact, aside from physical wounds, victims often experience extremely tangible psychological consequences. Starting with a review of the existing literature, the paper illustrates a research project aimed at the identification of stress levels in a sample of families hit by the 2009 earthquake in the Italian city of L'Aquila. The first chapter offers an overview of the physical and psychological consequences of natural disasters. The following two chapters are focused on psycho-social strategies employed to cope with natural disasters, with a particular emphasis on humour and psycho-social support. The fourth chapter describes the general features of the research project. The following chapter illustrates the results of a first study on psycho-social coping strategies in the aftermath of the earthquake. The final chapter presents the results of a second exploratory study on the impact of the earthquake on family relations, analysing a range of different post-earthquake coping approaches at a family level. The paper is then concluded by a series of recommendations for the development of better psycho-social coping strategies in the aftermath of natural disasters.
