Full text
Abstract:
The hospitality industry has focused on increasing customer satisfaction by offering services that are generally described as flawless, courteous, and friendly. Dick's Last Resort restaurants, however, are distinguished by intentionally staged erroneous, obnoxious, and rude services that nevertheless provide a unique experience for customers. This unconventional service theme might work for some customers but not for others. This study focuses on exploring the factors that lead to customer satisfaction and dissatisfaction at Dick's Last Resort restaurants. In addition, customer satisfaction le

Full text
Abstract:
Cleat permeability of coal is the most critical parameter affecting the amount of production from a coalbed methane (CBM) reservoir. As a result, there have been many studies about how cleat permeability changes over the life of a reservoir, leading to the development over time of several different permeability models. Most permeability models used today consider volumetric strain as an input parameter; however, permeability is impacted primarily by the increase in cleat aperture, resulting from matrix shrinkage in the horizontal direction. Recent work has shown that coal exhibits transverse i

Abstract:
The objectives of this work were to investigate the effects of unconventional oils rich in phenolic compounds and rumen adaption on methane (CH4) gas production and rumen fermentation characteristics under in vitro rumen conditions. For this purpose, two sets of trials were conducted. In the first trial, the effects of blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, pomegranate, black seed and hemp oils on CH4 production and fermentation were examined in three 24 h batch culture experiments. Treatments in each experiment consisted of control (no oil supplement), control plus corn oil, or control plus two of

Abstract:
Natural gas trapped in hydrate deposits is a potentially enormous source of energy which can in principle be extracted from the underground reservoir structures. These reserves can potentially also catastrophically release very large quantities of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Natural Gas Hydrate (NGH) occurs in sediments under certain pressure and temperature conditions and has the potential to meet the increasing global energy demand. However, an efficient exploitation of NGH requires a precise characterization and understanding of the hydrate formation, accumulation and dissociation m

The impacts of unconventional risks and crises on organisation survival have shifted the focus not just to risk and crisis management but also on business continuity and organisational resilience. At the same time, the effectiveness of current risk and crisis management models or strategies in dealing with unconventional risks and crises remain a challenge, not least due to the regular re-occurrence of similar events. However, this thesis contends that the value of existing models of risk and crisis management is overestimated, resulting in risk underestimation and the same issues becoming evi

The aim of this research is to explore the integration of ad hoc and mobile sensors into a conventional Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) system. This is motivated by the desire to improve the spatial resolution of 3D reconstructed images that are produced using ERT. The feasibility of two approaches, referred to as the Extended Electrical Tomography (EET) and Augmented Electrical Tomography (AET) are considered. The approaches are characterized according to the functionality of the sensors on the ad hoc 'pills'. This thesis utilizes spectral and numerical analysis techniques, with the go

The purpose of my thesis is to analyze notions of the sublime in James Joyce’s Ulysses and how the sublime is evoked and presented in Joyce’s work. The present work will examine concepts of the sublime from the Classical and Medieval period, through the Enlightenment, and into the Romantic era to develop my own definition. Placing the sublime in a historical perspective allows me to discover how the sublime is at work through Joyce’s creative use of complex narrative approaches. The beauty of aesthetic perfection was achieved by employing all of Joyce’s artistic faculties. My thesis investigat

In this work, methods were developed to synthesise lipophilic derivatives of the aforementioned [PtIV(HL)(AL)(OH)2]2+ type complexes. Two series of platinum(IV) complexes were synthesised, comprising of either PHEN and SSDACH (PHENSS(IV)) or 56Me2PHEN and SSDACH (56MESS(IV)). Conjugation of the axial ligands to the complexes was achieved by using anhydride forms of the chosen ligands. Reaction conditions were modified to afford the respective mono- and di-substituted species, [PtIV(HL)(AL)(OH)(R)]2+ and [PtIV(HL)(AL)(R)2]2+ (R = increasingly lipophilic carboxylate ligand(s)). Unconventional shale gas exploration, production, and utilization in North America over the last 15 years has had a major impact on the hydrocarbon industry. Despite this, these unconventional plays are amongst the least understood of all hydrocarbon exploration targets and shale gas exploration and development remain largely untapped outside of North America. The Cooper Basin is considered to be one of the most highly prospective basins for shale gas in Australia.
