Abstract:
The Problem Undergraduate human resource development (HRD) programs are becoming increasingly popular. However, there is little research available regarding the outcomes of the alumni of these programs and the value that they attribute to their undergraduate HRD degree. The Solution In this exploratory study, a survey was used to assess the value of an undergraduate HRD education among graduates of an undergraduate HRD program. Perceived employability and subjective career success were used as measures to assess the value of an undergraduate HRD degree from the perspective of alumni from an undergraduate HRD program. Academic achievement was also considered for the possibility of impacting the perceived value of the degree. Descriptive statistics are used to report the findings related to perceived employability and subjective career success. The Stakeholders The results of this study are useful to undergraduate HRD program administrators and alumni who are interested in the career outcomes of undergraduate HRD students in the first few years following their graduation. These administrators and alumni can use the results to market and describe the value of an undergraduate degree in HRD. An additional stakeholder group includes potential students who may seek clarification on the experiences of graduates of the undergraduate HRD programs that the potential students may be considering.

Abstract:
While the use of field trips is not new to undergraduate education, tailoring a 3- to 4-day field experience to enhance classroom instruction is challenging, but rewarding, for students, faculty, and alumni. Drawing on alumni in the private and public sectors to serve as guides has added significantly to the experience and has strengthened alumni ties to the department. Problems associated with extended field trips, such as those related to behavior and legal liabilities, can often be avoided by proper scheduling and insurance planning. Funding can be augmented by an industry eager to find qualified graduates.

Journal of Educational Evaluation for Health Professions 14 (July 26, 2017): 16. http://dx.doi.org/10.3352/jeehp.2017.14.16.

Abstract:
Purpose: Evaluating educational programs can improve the quality of education. The present study evaluated the undergraduate occupational health program at the Semnan University of Medical Sciences in Semnan, Iran, with a focus on the associations between alumni perceptions of the learning environment and the outcomes of the occupational health program. Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted among alumni of the undergraduate occupational health program. We asked alumni to rate their perceptions of the items using a 4-point Likert scale. The associations between alumni perceptions of the educational program and curriculum, faculty, institutional resources, and learning outcomes were modeled and described using structural equation modeling procedures. Results: A descriptive analysis of alumni perceptions indicated low evaluations for the administrative system, practical and research-based courses, and the number of faculty members. We found that a structural model of the evaluation variables of curriculum, faculty qualifications, and institutional resources significantly predicted undergraduate educational outcomes. The curriculum had direct and indirect effects on learning outcomes, mediated by faculty. Conclusion: The findings of our study highlight the usefulness of the structural equation modeling approach for examining links between variables related to the learning process and learning outcomes. Surveys of alumni can provide data for reassessing the learning environment in the light of the professional competencies needed for occupational health graduates.

Abstract:
Information about psychology majors' activities after graduation is an important ingredient in the evaluation and renewal of undergraduate programs. In this article, we review the survey research on psychology alumni, analyzing the various survey objectives, samples, results, and program implementations. Based on this review, we make recommendations about the design of future studies, the role of APA's Educational Affairs Office, and the use of life-span development theory and methodology to refine future alumni research in undergraduate psychology.
