Full textThis thematic and historical work aims to highlight the difficulties that can be encountered when we try to grasp what the egological life means from a phenomenological and scientific point of view. The questions that animate us are the following and rhythm the present work: what exactly does it mean to say "I"? ; What is the characterization of the egological life in Husserlian phenomenology? To what extent can the egological life be naturalized? Our path follows the Husserlian corpus for we consider that it is first necessary to clarify the meaning of the term “ego” in the perspective of an “analytic phenomenology”. This allowed us to understand that the indexical “I” can be the mark of a “descriptive ingenuity” which consists in an inability to fully describe a situation or a subjectivity expressing itself. Only a phenomenological understanding of the “I” may modify this conception by inducing that the presence of a subjectivity made of flesh and bones is an irreducible Nullpunkt. The phenomenological language, in addition to valuing the subjective part of live experience (Ichrede), also allows to modify our ontic conception of the meaning of termes used in order to describe a state of things from an eidetic point of view – a thing as correlate.By taking up this cardinal idea, we have subsequently attempted to solve the enigma around the I from a historical point of view on the basis a comparative study between Husserlian phenomenology and what critics made by Husserls disciples such as Reinach, Ingarden and Sartre. From then on, we were able to grasp the depth and validity of some critics made against the transcendental turn of phenomenology. Yet, these critics cannot go beyond or compromise Husserl'sthinking for this latter one overflows in our view the formal and sterile framework of an idealistic-realistic binarity. In this way, we wanted to highlight the renewal of phenomenology from the genetic point of view, starting with what we call the “phenomenological naturalism”, especially in regard to the treatment Husserl accorded to subjects such as birth, death, a(b)no(r)mality and animality. In doing so, we had the evidence to show that Husserl was only apparently an idealist and that his work contains the seeds of the naturalistic enterprise under developent for some decades. It was therefore necessary to show the correlations between the “classical” phenomenology and the naturalization of phenomenology through a study of contempory texts presented by authors such as F. Varela, N. Depraz or J-L Petit. It appeared to us that naturalization was still embryonic, but that it may in the near future, through researches on agentivity, depression or phenophysics, illuminate cognitive sciences from the perspective of a cogenerative and fertile study for it joins the first and third person perspectives. However, it seems to us that the naturalization of phenomenology remains more asubjective, in the sense given by Patocka, than fully phenomenological. In conclusion, we affirm that two types of phenomenology must be distinguished, as well as two types of naturalization, while arguing that it would be also wise to take into consideration the role of the enteric nervous system, in addition to the brain, in the characterization of subjective life
Full textIn Japan, the 1960s open an era of political and artistic protests. The decline of traditional film studios is followed by the development of violent genre movies and pinku eiga (erotic films). New filmmakers like Kôji Wakamatsu and Masao Adachi emerge, shooting films in which nudity echoes a constant thirst for revolution, both questioning the erotic nature of bodies and criticizing the contemporary society. Crime and deviation become a new way of protesting, while eroticism allows for a counter-narrative of human relationships. Echoing this interrogation, films of the fûkeiron, the “landscape theory”, address the question of the future of individuals confronted with the landscapes of the modern world. Overexposed bodies from pink cinema are now confronted with bodies that are absent, expelled from both the visible world and the official history. Criminals, revolutionaries, nymphomaniacs, all those bare lives elude the traditional classification and show a new way toward emancipation, sometimes leading to their self-destruction. This visual and narrative subjugation of the body under an organization that exceeds him questions the possibility of a radically new narrative. In the interval that separates figuration bodies from bodies capable of their own narrative, bare lives from qualified lives that are the byproduct of a rationalized system, a dialectic emerges that question flesh as a fundamental potential of images, a potential that might be the only one capable of breaking apart the way too smooth landscapes of modernity

Full textThis thesis deals with the daily life of the elderly who are patients at the Bretonneau Geriatric hospital, in Paris 18th arrondissement. It studies how these dependent or mentally-ill elders are cared for, focusing on innovative drug-free therapies (art therapy, esthetic therapy, psychomotricity). The field survey took place between 2008 and 2010 and used the method of exploratory filming, making the camera the main tool for the research. Three documentary films were made : Day Hospital (117 min), Short Stay (67 min) and Long Stay (120 min). While shedding some light on the way the institution works, these documentaries show the everyday life of a few patients and make them the main characters of the films. The written part analyses the strategy and the results of the field survey. It stresses the ethical issues raised by the presence of the filmmaker-observer in a highly sensitive environment and with very vulnerable subjects. The detailed analyses deal with the three main themes of the films : configuration of space and of material environment, physical techniques helping with loss of autonomy, interaction rituals between caregivers and patients

Full textIn examining the close relationship between the life and the works of the german writer franz hessel, this dissertation attempts to reappraise this author of the 1920s who has been forgotten after spending several years in exile in france. This thesis has consulted many unpublished sources, oral histoires. Memories and diaries of hessels's contemporaries; the actual works by hessel are interpreted here with special reference to their biographical elmements. Thus, this thesis constitutes the first comprehensive biographie of franz hessel. Furthermore, il offers an overview of hessel's work through analysies of specific characteristic themes: pueril perspective. Irrational happiness, vitalist philosophy, meandering through the big city as mythological expression of space and time. Through the persona of hessel a tableau may be sketched of the literary and artistic milieu of munich, paris and berlin from the turn of this century to the outbrake of world war ii

Full textThe possibility to conceive the facticity, not as a dimension where the facts stood at the "expectation" of being grasped by an act of intellection that would constitute them, but as the mouvement of the act of intellection itself ; this possibility, already present in Husserl, that looks upon the facts as having a significant intention, has been linked, by Heidegger, to the intellection of the being in general. This possibility makes the human actions to be an articulation of the being’s understanding. However, this understanding, going thoroughly into the forgetfulness of the being, makes at the same time the obscureness of it’s own major difficulty – how can one shows the ontological difference itself ? Our aim, beyond the attempt to reduce or to try to develop a number of topics that would interfere with the primacy of this ontological difference, is to introduce "life" as the most original dimension, as the condition for all others, from where the light could expand itself in a way that the true reasons of the phenomenological and ontological difficulties would became apparent
