Abstract:
Abstract The aging of the world's population, raises issues of assisting elderly in conditions of sustainable spending. In this respect, smart technologies bring both an opportunity, providing solutions to assist elders’ life and a barrier coming from the lower acceptance of older adults for digital technologies. The paper proposes a research focused on education and its influence on older adults’ readiness to adopt new, digital technologies. As reference the two versions of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT and UTAUT2) were used. The research is based on a systematic literature review aimed to draft a conceptual framework placed on two dimensions: the first one tries to establish "if and how the initial education is influencing the elders’ acceptance of assistive technologies" and, the second targeting "how this initial education is correlated and/or imbedded in the elements of the UTAUT models".

Abstract:
Currently, the implementation of information and communication technologies (ICT) has been strongly recommended to science teachers. For identification the factors of successful ICT implementation the Unified Theory of Use and Acceptance of Technology (UTAUT) is applied, which works as the theoretical background of planned monitoring of Czech chemistry teachers´ attitudes to this problem. This theoretical review introduces the process of creating the modified UTAUT model serving as the basis for a research tool to be exploited for the future survey. Within this process three sources were exploited: (1) theories dealing with factors which influence user behaviour in relation to the use of modern technologies, (2) the analysis of research results focused on the acceptance and use of ICT in chemistry instruction and (3) results of researches conducted by the authors in the field of the effectiveness of the educational software used in chemistry teaching and learning. The conducted analysis of these three sources resulted in defining the presented survey and designing the appropriate theoretical model and research tool. Key words: chemistry education, educational software, The Unified Theory of Use and Acceptance of Technology (UTAUT), teachers´ attitudes.

Abstract:
AbstractThe main aim of this article is to examine the factors that influence the acceptance of ridesharing technologies in Polish society, including dynamic vanpooling on demand. The study was conducted using the UTAUT 2 model (Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology). We have employed statistical and econometric data analyses such as factor analysis and linear regression using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. Based on the review of the publications on ridesharing in the context of sharing economy, we have modified the UTAUT 2 model by supplementing it with the trust factor, which is a significant contribution to the development of this theory when applied to the acceptance of ridesharing technologies. Further, the outcomes allowed us to identify the factors that influence people's attitudes in using shared-ride technology (performance expectancy, hedonistic motivation and habit) and the intention to use this technology (effort expectancy, performance expectancy, price value, habit and trust). This study has practical implications as it has helped identify the factors that affect the acceptance of ridesharing technologies in Poland and these factors are significant for the suppliers of these technologies. The findings can certainly become a starting point for further research on other communities and the application of other models of technology.

Abstract:
The synergy of combining globalization with new technology has had dramatic learning impacts. Teachers and Students need to work together to successfully implement Moodle as one of learning technologies. Author needs to determine factors that are important to use Moodle. UTAUT was created based on the conceptual and empirical similarities across TAM, TAM2 and TAM3 models. UTAUT model attempts to explain how individual differences influence technology use. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) is then used to assess the reliability and validity of the model measures. Exploratory Research is conducted in order to determine the nature of the problem and is not intended to provide conclusive evidence. With Uncontrolled Quota Sampling method, respondents filled Likert-scale questions. Analysis of a Moment Structures (AMOS) is used analyse the data using SEM. All hypotheses is verified through different set of experiments. UTAUT is acceptable of analysing respondents' acceptance in using Moodle. Each construct uniquely affects the output, therefore different strategies can be implemented based on respondents' characteristics. Performance Expectancy is important for Students.

Abstract:
E-learning is treated as a learning approach in higher education worldwide. E-learning systems are all about using digital technologies to acquire, store, and process learning resources. This article aims to examine the end-users' acceptance of e-learning in the banking sector using the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model. The paper reviews the extant literature from which a theoretical model is developed and tested empirically in the French context. The UTAUT is extended by incorporating one additional factor (top management support). A quantitative approach based on cross-sectional survey was used to collect data from 133 bank officials. Data was analyzed using, statistical software SPSS version 15. The article successfully confirms the applicability of e-learning in France-based banks. The model developed in this paper helps the practitioner to understand the factors that should be given emphasis to ensure the effective development and acceptance of the e-learning technologies in a commercial setting.

Abstract:
Diffusion of innovation is a key challenge for organizations; it brings social change that alters a system's structure and how it operates. Most of the studies in this area have focused on the information and communication technologies sector (ICT). In this paper, we have sought to understand the acceptance and use of wood-based technology in the non-residential construction sector. For this purpose, we conducted a web survey of 28 engineers in Quebec's construction industry. Upon examining the survey results using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) theory, we have proposed a conceptual framework specific to the use of wood in non-residential construction and identified the main similarities and differences according to the basic UTAUT model. We have also identified some constraints regarding the use of wood-based technology.

Abstract:
An investigation into the variables that have a bearing on the acceptance of D-learning (Digital-learning) services such as E-learning and M-learning, in Jordanian universities is presented. This is followed with a discussion on modernising M-learning with emerging technologies. The study fuses the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (“UTAUT”) model with the cultural paradigm and educational variables. 100 valid questionnaires distributed to random Jordanian students in two cities were used to collect the primary data. The IBM SPSS® (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software platform was used to analyse the data. The validity of the overall model was proven statistically with an acceptable fit of the data to the measurement model. The findings show that the factor with the highest direct effect on “Intention to use M-learning” is the “Attitude toward using M-learning”. Whilst the factor with the highest indirect effect on “Intention to use M-learning” is “Compatibility”. The conclusions are that the: cultural factor has a significant and positive impact on the “perceived usefulness” and “perceived ease of use”. “Perceived usefulness” and “perceived ease of use” have the greater impact on the “customers’ attitude”, which consequently influences the students’ “intention to use M-learning services”. The findings also indicate that educational variables such as the attainment value, self-management of learning and the perceived enjoyment significantly affected M-learning adoption intention. Emerging technologies such as the Cloud, AI (Artificial Intelligence) and the Blockchain and how they may be utilised to enhance the delivery of M-learning is discussed throughout the paper.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper examines the acceptance, of a group of 79 students, of an educational forum, used for mobile and distance learning, that has been modified to include empathic characteristics and affective principles. Design/methodology/approach With this study is proposed that the introduction of empathic and affective principles in educational forums is a useful and effective way to increase students’ participation and motivation in educational contexts. After an analysis of existing literature and research on the subject of empathic technology, the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) was used as a framework for the research model. The analysis of their acceptance is done via an extended version of the UTAUT that focuses on the use of the variable attitude toward technology and uses gender, age and experience as moderators. A partial least square technique has been used to test the nine hypotheses. Findings The results confirmed three of the nine hypotheses: performance expectancy and effort expectancy had a positive influence on the students attitudes towards empathic forums, while the effect of social influence and facilitating conditions was considered insignificant; social influence had a positive influence on the students’ behavioral intention to use emphatic forums, while attitude toward technology, performance expectancy, facilitating conditions and effort expectancy were considered not relevant. Originality/value The focus of this study was the influence of attitude toward empathic forums, used for mobile and distance learning, and the results establish the grounds for future research on attitude as an important determinant of technology acceptance.

Abstract:
The presented study examines e-commerce technologies a new conceptual framework of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries.Aim. The study aims to identify factors for the implementation and acceptance of e-commerce among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries.Tasks. The authors utilize tools of G. Hofstede’s cultural dimensions theory to describe the emotional attitude of an individual to the use of technology.Methods. This study examines various aspects of the method of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), which is implemented in many studies of behavioral intentions of individuals in the adoption of new technologies.Results. For the first time, a conceptual (predictive) model based on four moderating variables is proposed. The variables include such cultural dimension parameters as power distance index (PDI), individualism/collectivism (IDV), uncertainty avoidance (UAI), and long-term/short-term orientation (LTO). These moderators boost the effect of the basic constructs on the behavioral propensity for the use and application of technologies.Conclusions. Based on the considered conceptual framework, the authors propose a number of recommendations for the development of tools that would ensure the required level of employee engagement in the acceptance and use of e-commerce technologies among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries. Another promising direction involves using the tools of G. Hofstede’s cultural dimensions theory to examine the specific aspects of the acceptance and use of information technology among organizations belonging to different national business cultures.

Abstract:
Background: Unlike other financial services, technology-driven changes in the insurance industry have not been a vastly explored topic in scholarly literature. Incumbent insurance companies have hitherto been holding their positions using the complexity of the product, heavy regulation, and gigantic balance sheets as paramount factors for a relatively slow digitalization and technological transformation. However, new technologies such as car telematic devices have been creating a new insurance ecosystem. The aim of this study is to assess the telematics technology acceptance for insurance purposes. Methods: The study is based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). By interviewing 502 new car buyers, we tested the factors that affect the potential usage of telematic devices for insurance purposes. Results: The results indicate that facilitating conditions are the main predictor of telematics use. Moreover, privacy concerns related to the potential abuse of driving behavior data play an important role in technology acceptance. Conclusions: Although novel insurance technologies are mainly presented as user-driven, users (drivers and insurance buyers) are often neglected as an active party in the development of such technologies.

Abstract:
Construction firms are increasingly utilizing information technologies to better manage geographically dispersed projects. Often these technologies involve changes to existing working practices and processes and are viewed as disruptive by members of the organization. Understanding the factors that can influence individuals’ intention to utilize technology can assist managers to implement strategies to increase and improve the uptake of technologies and improve the innovation adoption process. Using a case study organization, factors identified in the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) are examined and the UTAUT is extended and by including resistance to change and top management support. The findings indicate effort expectancy, internal facilitating conditions and top management support all influence individuals’ intention to use information technology. The results also show that resistance to change or fear of change does not always play a role in innovation adoption. The findings reinforce the need to support new technologies from both a managerial and technical perspective.

Abstract:
The visibility of network-based technologies in the 2008 U.S. presidential election is indicative of their importance as tools to inform and motivate a populace. By explaining what factors impact usage behaviors with respect to these technologies, their use can be better encouraged. In this paper, the authors examine the constructs influencing usage behaviors for political technologies using the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model. The authors also explore the impact of the use of political technologies on political interest and activism in organized movements. The model was tested on a large sample of youth voters, and results suggest that performance and effort expectancy, along with social influences, impact the use of political technology. Evidence was also found suggesting that the usage of political technologies positively impacts political interest and political activism. Findings suggest that room for growth exists in devising novel ways to use political technologies to motivate active participation.

Abstract:
Purpose Although mobile devices are ubiquitous among employees, their awareness and readiness to use mobile technologies for competence development is still not widespread and therefore requires further exploration. The purpose of this study is to propose a conceptual model based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) to explain the determinants that affect employees’ intention to use mobile devices and software for knowledge transfer during the process of knowledge management. Design/methodology/approach A conceptual model based on the UTAUT with new variables concerning relative usability (RU) and user autonomy (UA) and new connections between the determinants was developed as a result of a subject matter literature review. A structural equation modelling approach was used to validate the model on the basis of data collected via a survey collected from 371 employees from 21 sectors, both public and private. Findings The UTAUT model extended by new variables like RU and UA explains employee acceptance of mobile technologies for knowledge transfer reasonably well. New proposed variables highlighted that the usability of technology compared to other solutions and user autonomy in the selection and the use of applications have the strongest impact on the employees’ intention to use mobile devices and software for knowledge transfer. Research limitations/implications This model explains the 55 per cent behavioral intention of employees to use mobile technologies for knowledge transfer. Even though it is quite high in terms of acceptance theories, some new variables should be explored. Furthermore, study does not verify whether m-learning acceptance for knowledge transfer is sector-specific. Practical implications Mobile technologies used for knowledge transfer by employees should allow for high UA through their ability to select solutions that they find convenient, use of preferred platforms, personalize applications and utilize devices and software in various environments. They should not be simplified and should have the same functionality and efficiency of use as alternative solutions like web and desktop applications, even if additional effort to learn them would be required. Mobile technologies that take into account UA and RU support the process of employees capturing, distributing and effectively using knowledge. Originality/value The elaborated model provides a valuable solution with practical implications for increasing mobile technologies acceptance for knowledge transfer. The study results contribute both to knowledge management and technology acceptance research fields by introducing two new determinants for the acceptance of technologies in knowledge transfer, such as UA and RU with several additional connections between existing UTAUT variables.

The world has witnessed a major pandemic that has threatened the status of education across the globe. Such a crisis highlights the importance of education technology, which has not been an influential part of Kuwait’s education until the onset of COVID-19. Delays and interruptions of the academic year disrupted the lives of many students around the world, including Kuwait. Since e-learning technologies are not traditionally used in Kuwaiti higher education, this study aims to investigate the acceptance of technology and whether that has changed with the pandemic. It seeks to find useful strategies that could assist teachers in effectively using electronic distance-learning digital resources. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) has been developed to investigate the degrees of usage and acceptance of technology. This paper adopts an improved model that also includes the educational experience of teachers, in an attempt to understand the context of Kuwaiti higher education. Therefore, this quantitative study examines the use and acceptance of educational technologies of English language instructors in higher education.

The study uses an online survey among 33 English language instructors at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) to also account for the perceptions and experiences of the teachers. The results revealed an overall high acceptance level of educational technology, with varying degrees of implementation.

Abstract:
BackgroundGlobally, technologies have been recognised to improve productivity across different areas of practice including healthcare. This has been achieved by the expansion of computers and other forms of information technologies (ITs). Despite this advancement, there have also been growing challenges to the adoption and use of these technologies within practice, sometimes with unintended or unexpected consequences. However, the barriers and drivers to IT and, more specifically, e-health adoption within healthcare are little understood, especially in areas such as Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) where e-health adoption is relatively new.MethodologyThis paper describes a pilot study to develop and validate sample statements for use within a later substantive Q-methodology study. The aim of the main study was to understand factors that influence healthcare professionals’ (HCPs) attitudes towards IT adoption and use in SSA. We report on the use of this methodology to explore the subjectivity of HCPs together with the models of technology acceptance [technology acceptance model (TAM) and the unified-theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT)] used in combination for the first time.ResultsFollowing various stages and mapping of the two models of technology acceptance used, 46 statements were developed at the end of the pilot study. These statements were grouped into six themes to capture the constructs of the two models used in the study.ConclusionFindings suggest that it is possible to use TAM and UTAUT to develop a comprehensive set of statements. These statements reflect choices that HCPs consider on IT/e-health adoption and use in SSA which can be used in a Q-study.

Based on 415 questionnaires, performance expectancy, price value, social influence, and perceived threat of disease were found to significantly increase users willingness to adopt PM; meanwhile, privacy risks had the opposite effect. Knowledge about PM was found to strengthen the positive effect of performance expectancy, price value, social influence, and perceived threat of disease on willingness to adopt PM and weaken the negative effect of privacy risk. This study demonstrates the successful application of UTAUT to the medical field while also providing guidance for the promotion of PM.

Abstract:
The application of information and communication technologies in Indonesia continues to be developed as the government becomes more serious in improving services to its citizen. However, there are still some obstacles to using the service. The purpose of this paper to present a framework improving e-government services to its citizen. The paper opted for using a comprehensive review of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). This paper offers ideas to see intention to the community in using e-government, by using the modified UTAUT model where the main construct performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), facilitating conditions (FC) is an important factor. Moderators such as gender, age, experience and voluntariness of use were excluded and using attitude as a mediator. The findings showed that UTAUT’s construct such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions is an important factor appropriate for seeing intention to citizen in using e-government and 9 hypotheses offered in the model are believed to get new findings in the future and increase the development of the UTAUT model and be able to provide concept ideas that are made in seeing the intentions of e-government users.

Abstract:
While the elderly population is growing rapidly, acceptance and use of m-government services by them are far below expectation. Previous studies on acceptance and use of m-government services have predominantly focused on younger citizens with skills and experience of information technologies. Drawing upon the dual factor model, this study investigates the enablers and inhibitors of the elderly's m-government service adoption behavior. Four constructs from the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), namely, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, social influence; and self-actualization are treated as enablers, while user resistance to change, technology anxiety, and declining physiological conditions are regarded as inhibitors. Results show that adoption of m-government by the elderly is significantly influenced by all tested enablers and inhibitors, except for social influence. This study contributes by providing an integrative model of technology acceptance for the elderly along with practical implications for policy makers.

Abstract:
Background: E-prescribing is the most important achievement in the automation of the healthcare sector in Poland. Obligatory electronic prescribing came into force on 8 January 2020. This innovation significantly changes the work of doctors. Therefore, it is useful to identify the factors that have an impact on doctors’ acceptance levels for the new technology. Methods: This study employs a survey based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) method. Our questionnaire was completed by 144 family doctors in Poland during the technology implementation phase and the initial period of obligatory e-prescribing, between 1 December 2019 and 1 March 2020. Results: The results of the survey indicate that doctors do not believe that e-prescribing improves the effectiveness of their work. In addition, this attitude does not depend on the age of the respondent. We also found, regarding the influence of societal attitudes, that doctors only rarely consider the opinions of others in relation to their job. Conclusions: The implementation of new technologies in the healthcare system must be accompanied by consideration of how user-friendly the technologies are, and whether the users will have appropriate technical and financial support.

Abstract:
After the outbreak of COVID-19, schools heavily depend on e-learning technologies and tools to shift from in-person class to online. This review article analyzes the changes of technology evolution and technology adoption of e-learning in pre- and post-COVID-19 based on the Technology System Evaluation Theory (TSET) and technology adoption of e-learning based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). We intend to explore the interaction of technology evolution and technology adoption in the different focus of e-learning technology in the two stages and the particularity and heterogeneity of the UTAUT model. The results indicate that (1) The moderating results of technology evolution are proposed and evaluated under the UTAUT model before the COVID-19 outbreak. Studies after the COVID-19 pandemic paid more attention to technology efficiency rather than effectiveness; (2) Research on e-learning focuses on the infrastructure to reach more users after the outbreak of COVID-19 because e-learning is the only way to continue education; (3) COVID-19 fear moderates the relationship between the external factors and the behavior intention of e-learning users. The lack of financial support on technology evolution will directly weaken the implementation of new technology. Social Isolation offers more opportunities for students to engage in e-learning. Meanwhile, it slows down the implementation of e-learning because of out-to-date hardware and software. This article offers an enhanced understanding of the interaction of technology evolution and technology adoption under unexpected environments and provides practical insights into how to promote new technology in a way that users will accept and use easily. This study can be tested and extended by empirical research in the future.

Abstract:
Purpose While educators and students alike are increasingly moving to use on-line technologies, there is still much to be learned about how these tools influence student learning. The purpose of this paper is to present a comparative investigation of the online use of one undergraduate (UG) and two postgraduate (PG) student cohorts undertaking similar “introduction to management” courses. Design/methodology/approach The authors used the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework to examine student cohorts’ (UG vs PG, with two nuances within PG) use of the same online learning platform. Findings Students’ acceptance and use of technology increases as the authors move from UG to PG with little to no work experience and were highest for PG students with two years plus work experience. These findings suggest that educators delivery of materials via online learning platforms requires a more nuanced approach than the “one-size fits all” that tends to be adopted. Research limitations/implications The study is confined to students undertaking management in the academic rather than vocational area and the authors have limited the study to a quantitative methodology which uses regression analysis. Practical implications This current study provides academic practitioners with an insight into some of the challenges facing higher education in managing different student cohorts in ways that provide them all with what is seen as a quality learning experience. Originality/value Given the relatively recent development of the UTAUT model, the authors suggest that an important part of its value is in providing comparative UG vs PG views as to the effectiveness of online and technology-assisted learning tools.

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to explore aspects of user perceptions of their use of location-based services. As mobile technologies become more ubiquitous in the general population, it is reasonable to assume that individuals will consume services and software to enhance their aspirations and entertainment desires. This study begins by constructing a location-based service prototype simulation. It then conducts an experiment and analysis based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. A survey was developed to extract usage information from participants, followed by an analysis of the results using PLS. The analysis shows significant indicators that suggest behaviour patterns of early adopters of location-based services are being observed. This paper applies the UTAUT model using a location-based service experiment to understand the underlying perceptions of individuals who may adopt location-based services. The authors study the effects of multiple parameters on the use of a location-based service simulation. Through this simulation and a following survey, current perceptions of LBS are investigated and insights gained.

Abstract:
Purpose – This study aims to explain the factors affecting students’ acceptance and usage of a lecture capture system (LCS) – ReWIND – in a Malaysian university based on the extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) model. Technological advances have become an important feature of universities’ plans to improve the flexibility and accessibility in a learning and teaching environment. For private universities, which are market-driven, it is vital to assess if these technologies influence the perceptions and behaviour of their target beneficiaries. Design/methodology/approach – The study is designed using a causal research design to examine the cause–effect relationship between the study variables. The study sample consists of 398 students selected via purposive sampling. Data are collected using a five-point Likert scale covering UTAUT2’s factors and variables featuring ReWIND’s acceptance and usage. Partial least squares-based structural equation modelling is used to analyse the data. Findings – The findings show that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, price–value, hedonic motivation and habit have significant influence on students’ acceptance and usage of ReWIND. Research limitations/implications – This research examines the factors affecting students’ acceptance and usage of ReWIND in a Malaysian university. The main limitation of this study is that it focuses only on the factors highlighted in the UTAUT2 model. Practical implications – The results provide a useful framework to the universities for the successful implementation of student-friendly technologies such as ReWIND to enhance their learning experience. Originality/value – Responding to the need of studies validating the UTAUT2 model in the adoption and use of different technologies, this study contributes to the literature by extending the UTAUT2 into the context of LCS at a private university in a developing country.

Abstract:
The aim of the study is to investigate factors that influence the adoption and use of educational technology by students of a higher education institution in developing countries. The study employed the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). The online survey method was used to collect data from 286 students of a higher education institution in Nigeria. The maximum likelihood method based on structural equation modelling (SEM) using IBM Amos 22.0 application was used to analyse the data. The study determined that performance expectancy and effort expectancy (p < 0.001) were significant factors in influencing the behavioural intention to use Canvas. Social Influence was deemed to be a statistically non-significant factor in influencing behavioural intentions as (p > 0.05). Facilitating conditions and behavioural intentions were determined to be salient factors that positively influence the actual usage of Canvas by the students. The results from the data obtained partially support the UTAUT’s ability to explain the factors responsible for the acceptance of educational technology in developing countries, in Nigeria to be specific. Furthermore the study contributes to the formulation of approaches and guidelines to enhance the adoption of educational technologies in developing countries.

Abstract:
AbstractAim of the paper is to analyse specific factors of human-robot collaboration and adoption to Industry 4.0 technologies in relation to working in mixed teams and in virtual work environment. Based on literature review and current findings in unified theory of technology acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model and its extensions, new endogenous factors might be included/considered, in a UTAUT model, namely emotional attitude (trust towards technology, perceived threat) and new moderators such as a location of organization and type of workplace-based training in organization. Team identification and self-extension process are intended as drivers for development of positive attitudes in human-robot collaboration and prerequisites of sustainable human-robot interaction. Regarding the findings in human-robot collaboration, the authors suggest including the type of personality and the attitudes towards Human-Robot collaboration among the extended factors of technology adoption within Industry 4.0 strategy. Emotional attachment acts as a relevant factor of successful Human-Robot collaboration that can be maintained by a support of team identification and self-extension process. For the development of positive attitudes in human-robot collaboration, principles of personalized design can be applied, e. g. engaging the workers in designing specific features of the robot. It can be supposed that specific models of technology adoption - as UTAUT/UTAUT2 will require new extensions in a context of work analysis in a virtual work environment, e.g. health and psychological assumptionsIn the paper, subjective assessment of the increase in well-being of the workers after the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies is identified as one of the new Industry 4.0 outcomes within the human capital definition of Industry 4.0.

Abstract:
Nowadays, the advance of the internet and mobile technologies have changed our daily life, not only in terms of consumption but in how business is done. Social media has been recognized as one of the potential online platforms for entrepreneurs especially in small and medium business establishments to cope with large corporations. This study aims to investigate elements affecting social media adoption for business purposes by adopting a well-known technology acceptance model—the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). The data of 196 samples were collected via online questionnaires in Thailand using the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique employed to verify the proposed model with empirical data. The outcomes illustrate the performance and effort expectancy and social influence significantly influence behavior prospects to implement social media for business purposes. Facilitating conditions significantly contribute to affecting actual user behavior. Also, the authors investigated the moderating effect of all demographic and behavioral factors such as gender, age, daily spent time on social media, and entrepreneur status. The results of the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) analysis show that there are immense variances in the intention of social media behavior and use behavior due to age. Younger adults tend to be more adept with user behavior and behavioral intention more than older adults.

Abstract:
Recent advancements in Frontier Technologies and Innovations (FTI), including artificial intelligence, robotics, and biotechnology have shown significant and tremendous potentials for sustainable development globally. Despite this, Africa appears to be unprepared to equitably use or adopt these technological innovations. Evidence has shown that the ongoing global growth in FTI negatively impacts Africa with multifaceted inequalities ranging from poor global class, persistent poverty, disparities in income-earning opportunities, internet usage, pay gap, poor standards of education and health, etc., resulting majorly from poor adoption of technological innovations and favorable Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policies, culture, ethics, and values. Significant digital divides were evident between the technologically advanced countries and backward countries such as Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic because technological innovations have become critical tools for addressing the spread of the disease. This study highlights the strategy for coping with FTI for sustainable development in Africa. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) was adopted as the study conceptual framework. UTAUT model claims that users' acceptance behavior toward technology is determined by users' decision to use technology and the perceived benefits thereof. The researchers explored a narrative review, analysis, and synthesis of vast works of literature that revealed significant information on strategies for coping with FTI in Africa. The researchers also conjointly extracted peer-reviewed articles among the last five years from electronic databases, engaging some keywords like "Frontier Technologies and Innovations in Africa' 'Coping with Frontier Technologies and Innovations' leveraging resources of Africa via Technology and Innovation", etc. Results show that global progress was associated with sharper inequality between countries, with widening disparities in FTI adoption, literacy level, and access to products, social services such as ICT infrastructure, electrification, education, and health. Results also show that literacy empowerment in Africa especially among women, on technology adoption, policies, culture, ethics, and values may advance sustainable goals, leverage their literacy abilities for FTI adoption, and close widening gaps and inequalities in global FTI.

Abstract:
Purpose – The use of computer-assisted audit techniques and tools (CAATTs) is a part of many professionally recommended audit procedures. This paper aims to argue that obtaining a better understanding of the factors underlying successful CAATTs adoptions would be helpful to aid wider development of these technologies in internal audit functions. Design/methodology/approach – To help develop the understanding of the factors that lead to successful adoption of GAS, this paper uses current theories that are seeking to better explain the various elements that constitute IT adoption processes. In particular, it makes use the “Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology” (UTAUT). UTAUT is used to structure the analysis of ten semi-structured, qualitative, interviews of key decision-makers in adoptions of CAATTS in internal audit functions in exploring the key factors that drove the successful adoption of these IT technologies. The most widely used CAATTs tools available to internal auditors is currently GAS. This study specifically focuses on GAS tools. Findings – This paper explores the successful adoption of GAS in ten cases to draw out the general factors that appear to be essential elements that lead to successful adoptions. From this basis, the paper proposes an initial model, built on existing theories of IT adoption more generally, as a theoretical basis for GAS adoption by decision-makers in an internal audit setting to better understand what may be essential factors to their adoption decisions to be likewise successful. Results suggest that two constructs from UTAUT (performance expectancy and facilitating conditions) appear to be particularly important factors influencing successful adoptions of GAS in this domain. However, the UTAUT constructs of social influence and effort expectancy are not found by this study to be as important in this specific IT adoption domain. UTAUT also proposes four moderating factors that influence the constructs. This paper explores two of these moderators – experience and voluntariness – and shows that both are keys to the constructs application to this domain. Originality/value – The paper examines the motivation for CAATTs adoption by internal auditors using the UTAUT framework commonly used in information system research but not so to date in this domain where there is professional guidance suggesting wider use of technology should be made compared to actual usage.

Purpose This paper aims to propose and test a ten-factor framework of four contexts from technology-organization-environment (T-O-E) theory and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) to provide insight(s) that complements and extends extant inquiries on technology adoption. Design/methodology/approach Survey data were collected from small service enterprises with strong operations in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and the mode of sampling was purposive and snow ball, whereas analysis involved structural equation modeling. Findings The results show that factors in the technological, organizational and environmental contexts have direct statistically significant relationship with adoption; thus, adoption is more driven by T-O-E factors than by individual factors. For individual context, social factor equally was statistically supported, whereas hedonistic drive was not. Research limitations/implications The study is limited by its scope of data collection and phases; therefore, extended data are needed to apply the findings to other sectors/industries/countries and to factor in the implementation and post-adoption phases and business to business (B2B) adoption to forge a more holistic framework. Practical/implications Implicit is that the findings encourage vendors and policy makers to recognize the strength of interpersonal and group relationships in addition to T-O-E contexts in developing investment decisions. Originality/value The paper contributes to the growing research on innovation adoption by using factors within the T-O-E and UTAUT frameworks to explain SMEs’ adoption of technologies.

Findings – The results suggest that the adoption of social software is associated with the expectation that one’s work performance will improve. There are significant differences regarding age and gender in the use of social software for job-related purposes. Practical implications – Using the results of the study, social software suites can be tailored to users’ needs and preferences, which, in turn, may lead to higher levels of acceptance and intensity of use. Originality/value – Social software is already widely adopted for private purposes, and it is being used more and more within the digital workplace, too. However, little research has been conducted into how, and for what job-related purposes, social software is employed, or into the potential drivers for its adoption. The stakeholders in the research include scholars and practitioners alike.

Abstract:

The use and integration of mobile information and communication technologies (ICTs) in learning and teaching, as well as the creation of new knowledge can determine whether a country is able to successfully compete in the emerging global knowledge economy. Technology acceptance theories and models have been widely developed, used and extended to determine the factors related to the acceptance of such technologies in specific national and subject contexts. This study set out to explore the key factors that determine students’ and instructors’ use behaviour and behavioural intentions to use mobile technologies in learning and teaching EFL, in an effort to determine the readiness and acceptance of mobile learning and teaching among students and instructors at a higher education institution in Saudi Arabia. The extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2), was used as the framework for this study. This model takes into account several perspectives; and was designed to assess technology acceptance beyond the organizational context by embedding consumer context dimensions. The results indicated that the research model was partially confirmed and highlighted key variables as the driving forces of use behaviour and behavioural intention to use mobile technologies in learning and teaching EFL.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to understand antecedents of app-based shopping in an Indian context. The paper has used unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) 2 model for examining the impact of various constructs on behavioral intention and usage behavior of smart phone users toward the mobile shopping apps. Design/methodology/approach The constructs were tested and validated by means of a structured questionnaire which was administered on a sample of 350 mobile app shoppers in Delhi. AMOS 20 was used to analyze the collected data. Findings The study revealed that hedonic and habit are the strongest predictors of users’ behavioral intention to use mobile apps for shopping. Respondents are also influenced by the deals that are being offered by the marketers. The research also suggests that facilitating conditions help in usage of mobile apps for shopping. Research limitations/implications Managerial implications simplifying the interface which would encourage the less technologically advanced individuals to use mobile apps. Hedonic element of shopping through mobile apps should also be enhanced. Originality/value This study contributes to the research on intentions and usage behavior of consumer technologies by adopting UTAUT 2 model to explain the intentions and usage behavior toward mobile apps for shopping. The paper also measured the role of deals in influencing the consumers.

Abstract:
PurposeDigital technologies have become indispensable in businesses and are gaining attention in academic institutions context too. Digital technological ecosystems provide a platform to communicate and share their products and services to existing and potential customers. Entrepreneurial startups and companies face internal and external challenges utilizing social media technologies to commercialize their business ideas. The purpose of this paper is to identify opportunities and challenges faced by academic entrepreneurs' startups.Design/methodology/approachThis research has adopted a qualitative approach comprising of semi-structured in-depth interviews with academic entrepreneurs’ startups to find the main challenge they face using social media platforms. The purpose was associated with an exploratory type of study and also included a prominent unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) and technological opportunism (TO) model. The research respondents were 23 academic entrepreneurs startups who were chosen applying purposive sampling. Respondents were given a set of a questionnaire consisting of close-ended questions that are five-point Likert scale. The questionnaire included various parameters to measure the social media challenges the academic entrepreneurs’ startups undergo in the initial phase of their businesses.FindingsThe study identified that business-to-customer relations, brand, reputation, competition and cultural and language influence digital technologies entrepreneurship. While, the findings discovered the extended research model has a positive influence on academic entrepreneurs' intentions to use digital technologies media platforms. The outcome of this paper has thrown more light on which issues are there in digital technologies entrepreneurship, the determinants and actual usage advantages from UTAUT model and TO model that could be properly employed to solve issues of digital technologies media platforms and the potential concerning the adoption and use of digital technologies.Originality/valueThe study of academic entrepreneurs' startups can be considered original in nature. There is dearth of standard literature in the upcoming area of academic entrepreneurship. Governments are taking initiatives to promote academic entrepreneurs' startups, and the findings will be able to give them a right direction.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to inform researchers who are examining the adoption of autonomous vehicle technology and to provide marketing insights for developers and manufacturers of such vehicles and their ancillary technologies. Design/methodology/approach This study assesses consumer attitudes and behavioral intentions regarding autonomous vehicles (AV) by applying the consumer version of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2). We validate the model through a behavioral research study (n = 1,154). Findings The findings suggest that attitude toward AV is primarily formed through performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and hedonic motivation. Furthermore, the level of autonomy has limited effects on attitude. Originality/value This is the first study to examine attitudes toward AV through the theoretical lens of UTAUT2. Additionally, this study provides insights into consumer perceptions and the corresponding effects on attitude by moderating the level of autonomy.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the key factors that affect users’ adoption of e-books using an extension of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) that includes the following factors: environmental concerns, perceived benefits, and benevolence trust. Design/methodology/approach The authors analyzed survey responses from 343 participants using structural equation modeling to examine the hypothesized relationships in this research model. Findings The results show that users’ adoption of e-books is determined by performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, environmental concern, perceived benefit, and benevolence trust. Research limitations/implications The authors restricted this study to consumers’ adoption of e-books. Further studies could examine consumer’s adoption of other mediums, such as cutting-edge information technologies. Practical implications The results suggest that marketers should consider altering their methods of promoting e-books to attract consumers and further affect their usage intention. Originality/value This study proposes and tests an extended UTAUT model that includes the additional factors of environmental concern, perceived benefit, and benevolence trust in order to examine the influence of these factors on e-book adoption. The findings are particularly useful for assisting managers to increase e-book adoption.

Abstract:

Despite the efforts of auditing professional bodies to help stimulating the application of contemporary audit technologies among audit firms to cope with the rapid growth in information technology usage among business organization, the extent to which Jordanian external auditors and alongside the world's trend have accepted Computer Assisted Auditing Techniques (CAATs) remains fairly low. This study use the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) to explore this lack of CAATs' usage in Jordan and try to find answer to what factors may affect their adoption and acceptance. The study has drawn upon qualified questionnaire sent to 200 statutory external auditors to obtain the data. With a response rate over 80%, the results of the statistical analysis revealed that Jordanian external auditor's intention to adopt CAATs may be driven by both auditor's performance expectancy and firm's facilitating conditions issues. However, effort expectancy and social influence at the other spectrum may not play such a major role. These results have several practical implications. Jordanian audit firms can create a positive attitude amongst its auditors towards CAATs' usage by promoting CAATs benefits and usefulness, by decreasing efforts expectancy needed to use CAATs, and by further investing in management and technical infrastructure supporting CAATs.
