Abstract:
E-government has become a popular focus of government efforts in many countries around the world. More and more governments around the world are introducing e-government as a means of reducing costs, improving services, saving time and increasing effectiveness and efficiency in the public sector. E-government and the Internet has made an essential change to the whole of Saudi societal structure, values, and culture, as well as the ways of conducting business by utilizing the potential of ICT as a tool of daily work. Therefore, e-government has been identified as one of the top priorities for Saudi government and all its agencies. However, the adoption of e-government faces many challenges and barriers, including political, cultural, organizational, technological, and social issues which must be considered and treated carefully by any government contemplating e-government adoption. Findings of several studies indicate that despite the high cost of e-government projects, both tangible and intangible, many e-government efforts are failing or are slowly diffusing. This thesis presents a comprehensive study and investigation of the influential factors on the acceptance of using e-government services (G2C) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) by adopting the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. This study uses an amended version of the UTAUT model as its theoretical foundation. UTAUT is an empirically validated model that combines eight major models of technology acceptance and their extensions. The study investigates the effect of proposed UTAUT constructs and moderating variables on e-government services use and acceptance. Therefore, this study critically assesses key factors that influence e-government service acceptance in the public sector in Saudi Arabia, discusses the importance of citizen perspective about e-services, and provides a comprehensive assessment of e-service providers and citizens’ perceptions about the obstacles facing e-government services acceptance and use in Saudi Arabia. This thesis provide a comprehensive view and deep understanding of e-government services adoption based on the perceptions of e-services providers and Saudi citizens through the utilisation of the UTAUT model.

Abstract:
The mobile banking is an increasingly popular service for customers of the traditional banking industry. On the surface, China has the highest adoption rate of this new technology, yet many users do not remain active or they only use mobile banking for the simplest tasks such as checking their balance. This research was designed to uncover the reasons for these two issues by identifying the major factors influencing users' intention to continue using mobile banking (continuance intention) as well as their behavioural intention to try new mobile banking functions. To do so, an integrated model was developed on the basis of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model (UTAUT), task-technology fit model (TTF) and expectation confirmation model (ECM). Empirical data were collected from China's mobile banking users and the integrated model was tested using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) approach. The results indicate that the main factors which positively influence the continuance intention include satisfaction, performance expectancy and effort expectancy. Continuance intention, in turn, influences behavioural intention to try new functionality, together with social influence, facilitating conditions and confirmation. Moreover, some mediating effects were discovered. For example, task-technology fit may indirectly affect the continuance intention through users' satisfaction. The research results have a number of theoretical contributions. Firstly, this research discovers that the impact of task-technology fit on users' continuance intention towards mobile banking is fully mediated by users' satisfaction. This enriches the extant literature that is mostly focused on the technology perceptions (e.g. performance expectancy and effort expectancy) of users. Secondly, this research identifies that satisfaction also mediates the impact of confirmation of expectations on continuance intention, also extending the literature on the continuance usage of information systems. Thirdly, this research fills the gap in extant research regarding users' intention to try new mobile banking functions, by proposing a new integrated model using constructs from UTAUT, TTF, and ECM, and demonstrating that continuance intention itself fully mediates the impact of performance expectancy and effort expectancy on behavioural intention. The new model has a high explanatory power than each individual model offers. The research results also have management implications in terms of how to improve the task-technology fit to support continuous use and extended the use of mobile banking. For instance, to improve continuance intention banks can improve satisfaction by optimising task-technology fit. This in turn will require better understanding of users' different task requirements in specific market segments. In addition, banks can also attract users' behavioural intention to try new functionality by timely updating corresponding technology and launching marketing campaigns to keep users informed of any new functions of their mobile banking application.

Abstract:
Information and Communication Technology is used in the education field in Sweden toimprove learning quality. The aim of this research is to investigate the use of LearningManagement Systems in primary schools, in the specific context of the role of LearningManagement System (LMS) in learning and teaching processes from teachers‟perspectives. Furthermore, This Thesis aims to explore teachers‟ perceptions of how touse this learning management system which is used in primary Swedish schools.Six teachers from two different primary schools in small municipality in the south ofSweden participated in semi-structured interviews. The theoretical model of UnifiedTheory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) inspired this qualitativeresearch along with the other related past studies. This quantitative model was only usedto sensitize the research process, for collecting and analysing qualitative data in thisstudy. The different elements of the theory such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions along with studies helps in conducting studybasedon qualitative approach for analysing the interviews. The research results indicatethat teachers were content with the usage of this learning management system, but thereis a lack of knowledge regarding this system. The system is helpful in performanceevaluation, planning, communication and overall working for routine tasks. Theresponses of interviews showed that teachers are not trained for using the features ofLearning management system in the way that it is designed for. The findings showed thatteachers require the support from professionals to integrate the system into their routineplanning. Furthermore, they also emphasise on the need to make the system user-friendlywith easy navigation. The findings of this study were compared to previous studies, anda further comparison was carried out regarding how it relates to the determinants andmoderating factors such as peer influence, internal perceptions and motivations, timeconstraints, organisational structure and facilitating conditions. Hence, support andtraining are needed to enhance learning and teaching through this Learning managementsystem.

Abstract:
Abstract The main focus of this study is the identification of factors influencing the use and effectiveness of information system development methodologies (Le., systems development methodologies) in health information systems. In essence, it can be viewed as exploratory research, utilizing a conceptual research model to investigate the relationships among the hypothesised factors. More specifically, classified as behavioural science, it combines two theoretical models, namely the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology and the Expectancy Disconfirmation Theory. The main aim of behavioural science in information systems is to assist practitioners (Le., social actors) in improving business processes and competitiveness, thus the effective use of information systems. A wider view of behavioural science incorporates other social actors (e.g., end users) and organisational actors (e.g., executives). In health information systems, the effective use of information systems is especially relevant Health information systems are vital in the area of health care, since only by having access to pertinent health information, can the correct decisions relating to diagnostics and curative procedures be made. The use of systems development methodologies in health information systems development is therefore crucial, since they can make the development process more effective, while improving software quality. By empirically evaluating the conceptual research model, utilizing a survey as the main research method and structural equation modelling as the main statistical technique, meaningful results were obtained. Focussing on the factors influencing the individual's behavioural intent, it was found that the compatibility of systems development methodologies to the developer's pre-existing software development style is vital. Furthermore, performance expectancy, self-efficacy, organisational culture, policies, customer influence, voluntariness and facilitating conditions, all directly influenced the use of systems development methodologies, with policies and customer influence playing a significant role, especially in relation to health information systems. No significant direct effects or indirect effects could be established for the factors effort expectancy, personal innovativeness and social influence. It appears that individuals working in the health care software development discipline are more autonomous, less influenced by others. Also, the lack of support for the factor effort expectancy may indicate that systems development methodologies have entered a mature state, with less concern on the effort required for use. Furthermore, with regard to effectiveness and the continued use of information systems methodologies, satisfaction had a significant direct effect, with confirmation having a significant indirect effect. Keywords: behavioural science; conceptual research model; direct effect; exploratory research; Expectancy Disconfirmation Theory; indirect effect; Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology; structural equation modelling; survey; systems development methodologies.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Wearable fitness technology is a well known concept, with plenty of users. Statististics from the WorldHealthOrganization show that 23% of all adults do not exercise enough. Other studies have shown that many users stop using their wearable devices, as well as the fact that earlier studies have not focused on explaining acceptance and intention to use wearables in fitness. Following study is based on the constructs and moderating variables of the UTAUT-model and implies to investigate wearables acceptance in fitness of swedish speaking people. The data was gathered by a survey and was analysed using statistical methods. We found that Behavioral intention explained Use behaviour, and the intention to use wearable in fitness was mostly affected by Performance Expectancy.

Abstract:
The importance of aligning information technology and business strategies to exploit capabilities and change business practices has increased as firms strive for competitive advantage in a diverse and changing marketplace. Nevertheless, over 50% of firms implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems ranked expected process and value enhancements as inadequate, whereas only 13% indicated that implementations met their needs. The unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model formed the conceptual framework of this single case study. The study comprised a purposeful sampling of 8 business managers in Southeast Alabama working in related job roles and based on established eligibility criteria. Data collection involved semistructured interviews, casual observations, and document analysis. Through method triangulation and predetermined themes directly related to the UTAUT conceptual framework, 5 themes emerged: management endorsement, change management, training and education, dedicated resources, and governance. Results of this research may influence the elimination of key barriers central in the deployment and adoption of ERP systems by the public sector. The study's implications for positive social change include the potential to enhance social and intellectual capital formation through recognizing strategies that mitigate employees' gender and age variances during an ERP implementation.

Abstract:
The retail banking sector is undergoing unprecedented business disruptions due to changing consumer patterns and increased competition from non-banking institutions. The most practical responses to these new risks are digitalisation of the retail banking services and sourcing pragmatic approaches to transform the business strategies and operating models. This study focuses on understanding customer behaviour intentions when new digital innovations are introduced by retail banks. The study centres on mobile banking apps as a use case, examining behaviour intentions of customers who have already registered for the mobile banking app, with the analysis conducted using the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model. In addition to the constructs in the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model, personal innovativeness was incorporated as an antecedent. The analysis includes service innovation as a moderator. A quantitative study was conducted based on covariance-based structural equation modelling to test the hypotheses. The main findings were that facilitating conditions and personal innovativeness have a positive and significant relationship with behaviour intentions, whilst effort expectancy has a negative but significant relationship with behaviour intentions. Service innovation moderates the relationship between all the antecedents and dependent variables, with the exception of social influence. The implications for retail banks are that the service provider’s role is significant in enabling behaviour intentions with the key indicators highlighted by facilitating conditions and service innovation. As a contribution, retail bankers must note that technology companies continue to gain competitive edge in the digitalisation of financial services offerings and may out-compete banks over time given their stronger disposition to service innovation.

Abstract:
There was a lack of knowledge about the user’s acceptance of smart devices as ubiquitous learning (u-learning) tools at higher education institutions in Sweden. As the mobile technology grows, the demand for mobile devices, particularly smart devices increases as well. With the increase in the usage of smart devices, the higher education institutions provide mobile learning platforms to attract more customers in the competitive industry of education. Thus, understanding the key factors from the perspectives of end-users is important for the institutions to survive in the competitive market. This study explores and explains Behavioral and Continuance intentions of students regarding the acceptance and usage of smart devices (Smartphones and Personal Digital Assistants or PDA) as u-learning tools. Key factors related to the users’ intentions to accept and continue using smart devices as u-learning tools were identified and hypothesized in the Swedish context. Ten hypotheses were suggested based on TAM, UTAUT, and ECT. To achieve the aim and objective of this study, a quantitative approach was chosen, and a survey strategy based on purposive and convenience sampling techniques were used. A web-based questionnaire on five-points Likert Scale was designed to collect the required data. 115 (96 valid) students answered the questionnaire. The collected data were used to conduct statistical operations in SPSS. Five hypotheses were supported, and the other five were not. The findings suggest that Performance Expectancy, Perceived Mobility value, Confirmation, and Satisfaction positively influence both Behavioral and Continuance Intentions of students to accept and continue using smart devices as u-learning tools. According to the findings, Confirmation and Satisfaction from ECT can be included as separate constructs in UTAUT and UTAUT2. Higher education institutions planning to have (and those that already have) learning platforms, compatible with smart devices, can benefit from the findings. Higher education institutions can also design their u-learning platforms according to the Performance Expectancy, Perceived Mobility value, Confirmation, and Satisfaction of the students.

Abstract:
The Unified theory of Technology Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model suggest that the user acceptance before adopting a technology will greatly affect how the technology is accepted, and in effect its impact and performance in the organisation. A technology that is having an increasing presence in organisations is Procure-to-Pay (P2P) systems. P2P systems have been shown to achieve performance gains after a successful implementation in the form of increased efficiency, higher quality and better control in the procurement process. Being able to assess beforehand the performance gains of a technology before adoption is a crucial step for organisations seeking to lower uncertainties. This research assesses the importance of user acceptance as a precondition for a successful implementation of a P2P system. The research was conducted as a multiple case study at three organisations; Jernhusen, Akademiska Hus and Specialfastigheter. Jernhusen is considering adopting a P2P system. Akademiska Hus and Specialfastigheter have undergone the adoption of a P2P system. By measuring the user acceptance at Jernhusen the performance of a P2P system was assessed from a theoretical standpoint. The performance of a P2P system, and how well the implementation had succeeded was measured at Akademiska Hus and Specialfastigheter and put in relation to the measured user acceptance before adoption. This provided data to assess to what extent user acceptance is a precondition for a successful implementation of a P2P system. The study found that the user acceptance at Jernhusen, Akademiska Hus and Specialfastigheter was low before adoption. The theory indicate that this would lead to low adoption of a P2P system at Jernhusen and few performance gains. However, performance measurements made at Akademiska Hus and Specialfastigheter indicated that the P2P systems have led to medium to high performance gains respectively despite of low user acceptance before adoption. The research therefore concluded that user acceptance is not an important precondition for a successful implementation of a P2P system.

Abstract:
Learning Management Systems (LMSs) have been an essential part of the e-Learning ecosystem since the 1990s. LMSs have been developed and widely adopted by higher education institutions around the world. Despite the instructional and financial benefits of using LMSs, the adoption and diffusion of LMSs by faculty members continues to be challenging in higher education institutions, and particularly in developing countries. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors influencing the adoption of learning management systems (LMSs) by faculty members in Saudi Arabian higher education. The study employed a mixed method approach and applied the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) to explore these factors. Specifically, the study aims to determine the extent at which Performance Expectancy (PE), Effort Expectancy (EE), Facilitating Conditions (FC), and Social Norms (SN) influence faculty members' Behavioral Intention (BI) to adopt the Blackboard LMS. It also examines the moderating roles of age, gender, experience, perceived voluntariness, and computer self-efficacy on Performance Expectancy (PE), Effort Expectancy (EE), Social Norms (SN), and Facilitating Conditions (FC). The results of the study revealed a strong and positive correlation between performance expectancy and behavioral intention for Blackboard usage. The study also found Effort Expectancy, Facilitating Conditions, and Social Norms to be significant predictors of Behavioral Intention for Blackboard usage. Additionally, the findings show no moderation effects of age, gender, perceived voluntariness, and computer self-efficacy on Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Norms, and Facilitating Conditions. Experience was found to have a moderation effect on the relationship between Social Norms and Behavioral Intention.

Abstract:
The research outlined in this thesis focuses on the effects of implementation and use of mobile payments as experienced by older adults aged 55-75, as qualitatively examined through research interviewees (hereafter participants of this study) made up of individuals with varying cultural and technological backgrounds, who are acclimated to Greece’s culture and have lived within the country for at least a decade. Their own perception and reception of the practice allows for a more comprehensive look into the practical application of the technology within the country. No empirical studies are available on the aforementioned topic, despite the high importance and need for such study. Therefore, this research is carried out through a literature review. It then analyzes two models namely technology acceptance model (TAM) and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model. It applies a phenomenological research method and provides us with a more concise, contextualized background into the widespread application of m-payment and m-commerce within the country. This research contributes new knowledge to m-payment and m-commerce through theoretical and empirical research and benefits the interpretation of a recently emerging phenomenon. The research results are useful to various groups associated with mpayments and m-commerce. Future research directions concerning this phenomenon involve the reception and enhancement of m-payment methods by older adults.

Abstract:
While research supports the integration of mobile computing into instruction, there is disagreement concerning the unstructured use of mobile devices in lecture-based college classrooms. Research supports the argument that unstructured use creates distraction and decreased academic performance. Research also suggests that unstructured use actually supports lecture instruction through personalized learning situations. In either case, the motivations of students to use mobile device is often unclear. This study sought to investigate the motivations for students’ acceptance of mobile devices. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) was utilized to identify the factors leading to college students’ adoption of mobile devices. A survey based on UTAUT was distributed to 254 college students in six distinct lecture-based general education courses. The results revealed that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, and Social Influence were positively correlated with Behavioral Intention for class-related behavior, with Performance Expectancy being the most significant. None of the constructs were significant for behavior unrelated to lecture. Analysis of the students’ intention based on the UTAUT moderators of age, gender, and experience did not produce any significant difference, nor did an analysis of the classes by subject. The study concludes that the ability of a mobile device to complete specific tasks was the strongest motivating factor leading to intention.

Abstract:
Responding to globalization and its effects on education and research development, the Thai government decided to push all public universities to become autonomous and establish a system of quality assurances. The establishment of quality assurances has had a large impact on many Thai instructors, especially in new public universities. Thai instructors are now forced to more focus on conducting research because the number of research publications is regarded as one of the main criteria for quality universities. The purpose of this study is to investigate the key factors, at the individual and university levels, which impact on the instructors' behavior in conducting research of the full-time instructors in the faculty of Management Science from the Rajabhat Universities in Thailand. The current study will help explain how and why the instructors accept or refuse to conduct research and provide insight into the salient factors motivating the instructors to produce more research by conducting HLM. Data were collected from 694 participants at 37 institutions via a questionnaire survey. The findings revealed that there was no difference among these 37 universities on behavior in conducting research. The key factors statistically influencing behavior in conducting research of the instructors were facilitating conditions, academic degree, social influence, and usefulness as well as ease of conducting research that the instructors perceived. This study gained 46% of effect size.

Abstract:
The penetration rates for mobile phone subscriptions in many countries in recent years show that there are significant opportunities to invest in and introduce mobile commerce (mCommerce) services in many of these markets. mCommerce provides innovative services to mobile workers and mobile consumers as it allows them to perform transactions anytime from anywhere. Such services may also contribute to improve the performance of the organisations. However, mCommerce services have not been widely adopted by organisations, especially in many developing countries such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The aim of this research is to explore and identify the various factors that influence the intention to adopt mCommerce in Saudi banks and telecoms. At the beginning of the study, factors that may affect the adoption of new technologies in organisations were adopted from the literature. A number of these factors were included in this research as they are chosen from well-known theories such as Diffusion of Innovation Theory, the Technology Acceptance Model, the Theory of Planned Behaviour, the Theory of Reasoned Action, and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. These factors were investigated in the current study within the mCommerce context using the sequential exploratory mixed methods design. This exploratory research was conducted through two sequential stages. The first stage of the research follows a generic qualitative approach and the second stage follows a quantitative approach. The results of the two sequential studies have successfully provided adequate answers to the research questions at hand. Additionally, based on the findings of the research, the mCommerce organisational adoption model is proposed to support Saudi organisations in order to launch mCommerce services into the Saudi market.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the effects of Culture, the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), Expectation Confirmation Theory (ECT) and Technology Readiness (TR) on the satisfaction and usage continuance intention of Internet banking customers within the Saudi Arabian context. The aim is to develop and test a new framework for use in determining the factors that affect Internet banking customers’ actual usage behaviours, with a special focus on the role of cognitive processes, and cultural and personal psychological traits. This research uses cross-sectional survey questionnaire methods within a quantitative approach. 261 valid responses were received. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was used to test the hypothesised relationships within the research model in Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS 20) software. ECT is well established in conventional marketing literature and explains how cognitive beliefs and affects lead to customers’ repurchasing behaviour. It was first adopted for the Information Systems (IS) context and then customised to explain IS continuance intention behaviour. However, previous ECT customisations in the IS context present a significant knowledge gap because technology-based services are sensitive to individuals’ psychological traits, which ECT does not account for. This research integrates psychological traits and culture into the ECT framework to explain customer satisfaction and continuance intentions in the context of Internet banking usage. It combines ECT with the UTAUT in order to expand ECT to include more cognitive beliefs. Then it integrates TR and Culture to account for psychological and sociological traits. The results present a new contribution to the body of knowledge by validating a theoretically backed integration of the above models into one structural model. This model broadens the understanding of the factors that influence IS satisfaction and usage continuance intention. Compared to previous studies, the explanatory power of this model is a major improvement, with an R2 of (0.61) for usage continuance intention.

The turnover intention refers to the probability of individuals leaving their current job. This topic has become relevant to organizations since it is a potential problem, which may affect the organizations competitiveness, amongst other reasons. It is believed that some of the individuals who have turnover intention look for means of communication, new technologies, such as the professional social network LinkedIn, in order to spread their professional information, find professional opportunities by networking, as well as obtain more information about the labor market, besides different other functions. Therefore, the turnover intention may be considered as a previous factor to the individual adoption of the professional social network LinkedIn. This study has analyzed the previous factors that may influence the usage and how they use the professional social network LinkedIn, guided by the theoretical perspective of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), by Venkatesh et al (2003), and also guided by the scale of the turnover intention, by Siqueira et al (2014)and Van Dam (2008). The research is based on a quantitative investigation approach, in which data collection was done using a research tool, and obtained 292 answered questionnaires, which has made it possible to validate the relations between the constructs of the research model developed for the study of the individual adoption of the professional social network LinkedIn. There was an analysis of structural equations to make the test of the study hypotheses, based on PLS-PM (Partial Least Squares Path Modeling) from which satisfactory measures for all the investigated constructs and proposed models were presented, and all the relations between the constructs were significant. The results obtained by this study confirm the influence of previous factors, such as Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Turnover Intention, on the intention of using the professional social network LinkedIn. The study concludes that the Performance Expectancy was revealed to be the greatest influence in the intention of using LinkedIn, since there is the perception that by using it, it is possible to obtain some professional benefits as well as other aspects. The second factor to present the greatest influence was the Turnover Intention, once some individuals, by adopting LinkedIn, may tend to show it to other people or organizations that are interested in their talents, experiences, skills, network and so on. The Effort Expectancy, in turn, showed that some individuals notice it is easy to interact with such technology, and the Social Influence showed that there is the individuals perception as to the influence of their network in their intention of using LinkedIn.

Abstract:
Expected impact of electronic healthcare systems is increasing patient safety, care quality and availability. Using the system is essential to achieve this. This study explain the assimilation gap in an electronic healthcare system used in coordinated care planning by theories how individuals’ intentions and willingness to use electronic systems is affected by environmental influences. The result shows that the end users lack technical, organizational, and management support, which can explains the assimilation gap.

Abstract:
The goal of this thesis was to investigate the factors that influence the adoption of big data analytics by public sector employees based on the adapted Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. A mixed method of survey and interviews were used to collect data from employees of a Canadian provincial government ministry. The results show that performance expectancy and facilitating conditions have significant positive effects on the adoption intention of big data analytics, while effort expectancy has a significant negative effect on the adoption intention of big data analytics. The result shows that social influence does not have a significant effect on adoption intention. In terms of moderating variables, the results show that gender moderates the effects of effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating condition; data experience moderates the effects of performance expectancy, effort expectancy and facilitating condition; and leadership moderates the effect of social influence. The moderation effects of age on performance expectancy, effort expectancy is significant for only employees in the 40 to 49 age group while the moderation effects of age on social influence is significant for employees that are 40 years and more. Based on the results, implications for public sector organizations planning to implement big data analytics were discussed and suggestions for further research were made. This research contributes to existing studies on the user adoption of big data analytics.

Abstract:
At public high schools in Cayman, teachers need to improve their productivity and efficiency by using technologies that are simple and portable like their personal devices. Studies about bring your own device (BYOD) initiatives have revealed conflicting outcomes, and are lacking in the Caribbean and especially in Cayman. The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine the main factors related to teachers' willingness to adopt BYOD in public high schools in Cayman. The theoretical framework was the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). This study employed a cross-sectional survey design using a modified UTAUT instrument, which captured quantitative data from 82 participants. The use of hierarchical multiple regression to analyze the data revealed that teachers' BYOD adoption could expand by increasing facilitating conditions, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and decreasing perceived risk. This study reduces the gap in the literature about the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology and BYOD in the Caribbean and the Cayman Islands. It also provides evidence that perceived risk can increase its explanatory power of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology. The study also contributes to a positive social change by revealing critical issues that administrators should address when devising BYOD policies and planning educational technology integration.

The object of the research Innovation Portal was developed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) in partnership with the Center for Strategic Studies and Management (CGEE), Brazilian Association for Industrial Development (ABDI) and Instituto Stela, to meet demands the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SNCTI) in the country to achieve the proposed objectives, we used qualitative approaches, which was subsidized by the case study method (Yin, 2005) and quantitative methodology supported by UTAUT, applied the portal users and contemplated the result of 264 respondents validated. As for material analysis, we used the literature on electronic government (e-Gov), Internet, National Innovation System, models of technology acceptance, official data and laws pertaining to public sector innovation. The quantitative analysis technique employed was the use of structural equation modeling based on the algorithm PLS (Partial Least Square) with 1000 bootstrap resampling. The main results showed high predictive significance and magnitude of the Behavioral Intention of Use Portal by factors: Expected Performance and Social Influence. Besides demonstrating that the facilitating conditions impacting significantly on the behavior of users of Use. The main conclusion of this study is that we consider the acceptance of a government portal in which the adoption is voluntary, the social factor is highly influential in the intention to use the technology as well as aspects related to user productivity and the consequent sense utility, plus the ease of interaction and domain tool. Such findings ensejam new perspectives in research and studies in the field of e-Gov actions, as well as in directing proper planning, monitoring and evaluation of government projects.

Based on a critical review of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), this study first formalized an alternative theoretical model for explaining the acceptance and use of information system (IS) and information technology (IT) innovations. The revised theoretical model was then empirically examined using a combination of meta-analysis and structural equation modelling (MASEM) techniques. The meta-analysis was based on 1600 observations on 21 relationships coded from 162 prior studies on IS/IT acceptance and use. The SEM analysis showed that attitude: was central to behavioural intentions and usage behaviours, partially mediated the effects of exogenous constructs on behavioural intentions, and had a direct influence on usage behaviours. A number of implications for theory and practice are derived based on the findings.

In the last few years, several studies have examined the predictors of mobile banking (m-banking) adoption using the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). However, contradictory results in some of the UTAUT relationships were found in the existing literature. Therefore, we aim to clarify and synthesize the empirical findings from the m-banking studies published since 2004 by conducting weight and meta-analysis with a focus on the UTAUT theory. We also seek to identify the roles of moderating variables on each UTAUT path. A total of 364 path coefficients from 127 studies were relevant for data analysis. CMA software V3 was employed to combine the effect sizes. All UTAUT relationships were found to be significant. Performance expectancy emerged as the strongest antecedent of usage intention. We also find that usage intention is the most critical predictor of use behavior. It was also revealed that sample size and culture significantly moderated the linkages between facilitating conditions and usage intention, effort expectancy and usage intention, and usage intention and use behavior. Theoretical contributions and managerial implications are also discussed toward the end.

Digital payment methods (DPMs) are evolving fast but they are yet to be widely adopted particularly in the developing countries. An initial review of literature suggests that several studies have already been conducted on this topic for understanding antecedents of digital payments adoption. However, only a few studies have examined this emerging topic in the context of developing countries. The aim of this submission is to identify antecedents of consumer adoption and usage of digital payments methods. The results of this literature analysis suggest that constructs related to technology acceptance model (TAM) and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) along with trust and risk are the most frequently examined constructs for determining consumer’s behavioural intention to use and usage of DPMs. The findings from this work can help researchers selecting factors for inclusion in the future empirical works on this topic.

The use of mobile applications (Apps) has been growing in the world of technology, a phenomenon related to the increasing number of smartphone users. With a huge mobile Apps market, few studies have been made on what makes individuals continue to use a mobile App or stop using it. This study aims to uncover the factors that underlie the continuance intention to use mobile Apps, addressing two theoretical models: Expectation confirmation model (ECM) and the extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2). A total of 304 valid questionnaires were collected by survey to test the theoretical framework proposal, using structural equation modelling (SEM). Our findings indicate that the most important drivers of continuance intention of mobile Apps are respectively; satisfaction, habit, performance expectancy, and effort expectancy.

This research applies the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) Model by Venkatesh et al. as the research framework. A survey was conducted, and 69 responses of in-service Chinese teachers in Language Centers in Taiwan and 66 responses of pre-service teachers who study in the departmants/graduate institutes of teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Langauge were collected. The research aims to investigate the subjects’ intention of integrating mobile devices in teaching Chinese, to analyze the factors which influence the subjects’ intention of using mobile devices, to investigate the differences between in-service and pre-service teachers’ intention of use, and to discuss issues related to integrating mobile devices in teaching Chinese. The results show that integrating mobile devices in teaching Chinese is not common yet in Taiwan. The in-service and pre-service Chinese Teachers in Taiwan neither strongly support integrating mobile devices in teaching nor oppose it. The path analysis shows that in the UTAUT model, “performance expectancy” and “social influence” are factors which influence “behavioral intention”, and gender, age, and experience are moderators. Classroom interactions, deficiencies of teacher training, and the multiple operation systems are also factors influencing the subjects’ intention of use. Regarding the five constructs of UTAUT model, there is a difference in “performance expectancy” between in-service and pre-service Chinese teachers but there are no differences between undergraduate and graduate students. According to the survey, most smartphone-users use Android phones and most tablet-users use iOS tablets. Whether the students use mobile devices or not doesn’t influence teachers’ intention of use. Finally, the suggestions are made according to the research results for those who want to promote m-learning and for the future sesearch.

Abstract:
During the last fifteen years, several studies on the research topic of Individual Technology Acceptance have been developed, and several new models have been proposed. All these models aim to understand and define determinant contributions for the acceptance of technologies and what the drivers leading to successful adoption are. This dissertation’s main emphasis is to gain an understanding of individual acceptance of Computer-assisted Audit Tools and Techniques (CAATTs) in the context of Portuguese Statutory Auditors. Previous research in other countries, utilizing several and distinct research universes, has informed this work and the definition of the main objectives of the present research. This dissertation has as its main objectives: 1) understanding the tasks in which CAATTs are used; 2) to identify the adoption drivers of CAATTs; 3) to explore the current usage of CAATTs among statutory auditors and 4) to develop a CAATTs adoption model. To reach the objectives two studies were conducted: a qualitative study, supported by interviews to experts, and a quantitative study operationalized by a questionnaire to 110 Portuguese statutory auditors. This latter study was the cornerstone, which allowed testing the CAATTs acceptance model. This dissertation presents significant contributions impacting the various stakeholders: individual Statutory Auditors, Statutory Auditors Firms, The Portuguese Institute of Statutory Auditors, Software houses and higher education.

Abstract:
A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor in Information Management, specialization in Information Technologies
With the extensive spread of smart mobile devices, mobile technologies and services have revolutionised and pervaded significantly in most aspects of human life, such as social communication, commerce, entertainment, etc. Various industries have integrated services and products with mobile financial transaction technologies, facilitating the payment services combined with various mobile applications. The wide adoption of mobile transactions has increased the efficiency of transaction processes, met the expectations of customers and the requirements of enterprises, and supported the social-economic development in different scenarios, especially under the pandemic situation. Understanding mobile device users’ perceptions and behaviours on mobile technologies combining payment functions under the COVID-19 pandemic situation has reinforced the need to embark on a deeper investigation of customer behaviours during the pandemic. For these reasons, this study contributes to the advancement of knowledge and implementation methods for a better understanding of the determinants of customers’ behavioural intentions of using mobile technologies combined with payment functions in a total of seven separate studies. The investigation begins with a systematic literature review on mobile payment studies presented in chapter two. This research is augmented by investigating users’ continuance usage intention of mobile payments under the COVID-19 pandemic in chapter three. The fourth chapter analyses the determinants of continuance usage intention of food delivery apps during the pandemic. Chapters five and six present two theoretical development studies about the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and UTAUT2, respectively. The seventh chapter investigates customers’ psychological shopping processes via live-streaming shopping apps during the pandemic lockdown period. In epistemological terms, this study involved conjoint positivist and interpretivist research in behavioural information systems research. A qualitative research method was applied in chapters two, five and six, and a quantitative research method was implemented in the third, fourth and seventh chapters. The main theoretical foundations applied and validated in three empirical studies were UTAUT and UTAUT2. Specifically, chapter three integrates UTAUT with Mental Accounting Theory, the fourth chapter combines UTAUT with the Expectancy Confirmation Model, and chapter seven integrates UTAUT2 with the Stimulus-Organism-Response framework and Flow theory. This study found that performance expectancy, social influence, and trust significantly affect users’ behavioural intentions in all three empirical studies. Customers’ mental cognitions, such as perceived benefits, satisfaction, flow and perceived value, positively formulate users’ behavioural intention in the three studies, respectively. Hedonic motivation and flow significantly influence users' behavioural intention when mobile technologies contain payment and entertainment features. Moreover, this study contributes several theoretical and practical implications. This study facilitates the advancement of knowledge of mobile technologies adoption through three verified theoretical frameworks and two proposed developed theoretical models and appropriate measurement methods. Meanwhile, this study supports relevant stakeholders in mobile technologies, enterprises, policymakers, service providers, and marketing departments with valuable findings and discussions for comprehensively understanding the determinants of customers’ behaviours on mobile technologies combined payment function.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to perform a systematic review of articles that have used the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). Design/methodology/approach – The results produced in this research are based on the literature analysis of 174 existing articles on the UTAUT model. This has been performed by collecting data including demographic details, methodological details, limitations, and significance of relationships between the constructs from the available articles based on the UTAUT. Findings – The findings indicated that general purpose systems and specialized business systems were examined in the majority of the articles using the UTAUT. The analysis also indicated that crosssectional approach, survey methods, and structural equation modelling analysis techniques were the most explored research methodologies whereas SPSS was found to be the largely used analysis tools. Moreover, the weight analysis of independent variables indicates that variables such as performance expectancy and behavioural intention qualified for the best predictor category. Moreover, the analysis also suggested that single subject or biased sample as the most explored limitation across all studies. Research limitations/implications – The search activities were centered on occurrences of keywords to avoid tracing a large number of publications where these keywords might have been used as casual words in the main text. However, we acknowledge that there may be a number of studies, which lack keywords in the title, but still focus upon UTAUT in some form. Originality/value – This is the first research of its type which has extensively examined the literature on the UTAUT and provided the researchers with the accumulative knowledge about the model.

Waehama, Wanamina. "Critical Factors Influencing ICT Adoption within a Thailand Government Department." Thesis, 2017. https://vuir.vu.edu.au/41842/.

Full text
Abstract:
An increasing need for service efficiency has influenced the need for the adoption of e- government across all governmental departments and agencies. However, in many developing countries such initiatives face numerous challenges, which slowed their implementation down or reduced their effectiveness. This study assessed factors influencing the adoption of the Government Fiscal Management Information System (GFMIS), a Thai e-government initiative, by the employees of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC). Identification of such inhibitory factors may be used to reduce their influence on use of the GFMIS in the MOAC, and more generally, be used to improve performance of similar existing Thai e-government initiatives and improve adoption of future ones. An extended model was devised based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) devised by Ventakesh et al. 2003. This model was empirically tested using structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis with responses from a usable sample size of 315 (after deleting univariate and multivariate outliers, and excluding incomplete responses). SEM analysis on the Extended UTAUT model showed a poor fit. A modified version of the original UTAUT, the Adapted Original UTAUT, was tested in the same way and found to have a good fit. Path analysis of the Adapted Original UTAUT model showed a number of differences from the Original UTAUT model it was modified from. The Effort Expectancy construct had no significant effects on either Intention to Use Future Technologies or Use Behaviour. Since the effects of this construct are widely reported to decrease with experience of the system, this may indicate that the employees have become used to the GFMIS since its introduction in 2007. The Facilitating Conditions and Performance Expectancy constructs had significant positive influences on both Intention to Use Future Technologies and Use Behaviour. Oddly, the Social Influence construct had a significant positive effect on Intention to Use New Technologies while having a significant negative effect on Use Behaviour. This, combined with the lack of a significant relationship between the Intention to Use Future Technologies and the Use Behaviour constructs, suggests that there may be a gap between what employees of the MOAC say about the GFMIS and how they make use of it. Non-parametric tests showed Age, Gender and Education Level of respondents moderated the effects of the Social Influence construct. Similar tests showed that Age and Education Level of respondents moderated the effects of the Facilitating Conditions construct (which has a significant positive effect on both Intention to Use Future Technologies and Use Behaviour). None of the demographic factors moderated the effects of the Performance Expectancy construct, suggesting that the benefits of using the GFMIS are accepted by all employees. Regardless of the details learned about hesitancy in future research; workshops and training sessions to ameliorate problems are in order immediately. Educational aids need to be of high quality and continuous, which will enhance the integration of GFMIS into Thailand’s e- government system.

Abstract:

The extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) is less than ten years old and has already garnered more than 6,000 citations with extensive usage in information systems and beyond. This research employed cited reference search to systematically review studies that cited UTAUT2 originating article. Based on UTAUT2 usage, the downloaded articles were classified into four categories such as: 1) General citation, 2) UTAUT2 application, 3) UTAUT2 integration, and 4) UTAUT2 extensions. Weber's (2012) theory evaluation framework revealed UTAUT2 as a robust theory on most dimensions except for parsimony arising from the complex model. UTAUT2 extensions emerged as popular UTAUT2 utilization category as researchers extended the model with context specific variables. Finally, UTAUT2 extensions were mapped to Johns' (2006) context dimensions to identify various limitations of the existing technology adoption research and to provide multi-level framework for future researchers with libraries of context dimensions.

Over the last more than four decades, several theoretical models have been developed to understand the acceptance and use of information systems. Realising the dilemma in selecting the appropriate theoretical model to assess the acceptance and use of technology and considering the pattern of using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), a modified version (meta-UTAUT) has been developed based on the synthesis of results from 162 existing studies. The aim of this article is to review the emerging literature on meta-UTAUT and offer some future research recommendations. The analysis suggests that studies have started citing the relationships suggested by meta-UTAUT and researchers have reviewed it alongside other alternative models while analysing acceptance and use of technology.

With a huge, young population, high economic growth and a large amount of Internet users, Vietnam is really a potential market of online shopping, but currently number of online shoppers and online retail sale is till modest compared with regional countries such as Taiwan, Thailand. The major objectives of this study are to identify the interrelationship among constructs of an extended UTAUT model which is extended from Venkatesh et al’s model by adding perceived risk and attitude toward shopping constructs. Moreover, this study also identifies whether or not significant differences between the consumer groups in terms of demographics about attitude toward online shopping? Total of 258 valid questionnaires were used per total of 350 distributed questionnaires to college students in two universities in North Vietnam. The analysis results show that consumers who have higher performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence or facilitating conditions will have a better attitude toward online shopping. Also, attitude toward online shopping positively impact on behavioral intention to shop online which has positive influence on use behavior. In addition, perceived risk has negative significant influence on attitude toward online shopping. Finally, there is no significant difference between consumer groups in terms of age, gender, education level, monthly income, internet experience and online shopping experience about attitude toward online shopping?

Full text
Abstract:
In 2002 federal funds, known as the Primary Care Health Transition Fund (PCHTF) were transferred to the provinces to experiment with different models of health services delivery in primary care. The Northern Health Authority used the fund to implement a Chronic Disease Management Community Collaborative using the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Breakthrough Series and the British Columbia (B.C.) Expanded Chronic Care Model. Included in the Chronic Care Model is an information systems component that enables a population-based approach using guidelines and data to plan, organize, monitor and deliver care for patients with chronic illnesses. In British Columbia a secure web based system, known as the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Toolkit was developed by the Ministry of Health and made accessible to all physicians in the province to facilitate CDM by collaboratives and individual general practitioners (GPs). Technology acceptance is a mature concept in the information systems literature, and models of technology acceptance are important in health care with the increasing deployment of information systems to support clinical and management work processes. Understanding what variables influence clinicians to use appropriate technology could promote the diffusion of technology in health care. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) is a recent (2003) model that consolidates eight models of technology acceptance that are prominent in the information systems literature. The UTAUT analysis revealed that social influence, usefulness, and facilitating conditions are important variables for the acceptance of new technology. With some adaptations to fit the health care context, the UTAUT was found to be an effective tool to measure CDM Toolkit acceptance in the Northern Health Authority. The field observations highlighted salient issues not captured by the UTAUT, including security certificate implementation, access and confidentiality, physician participation, data entry, flow sheets, infrastructure and training.

With the advance of medicine, economic development and big changes in the traditional social structure, the rapid growth of senior citizens brings the urgent need for the medical treatment and long-term care. In the meanwhile, suffering the effects of low-birth rate simultaneously is resulting in shortage of labor force, and then causing the serious imbalance in the population structure because of the reduction of labor force year after year. However, the medical care industry is a labor-intensive and highly-skilled industry. More and more hospitals began to invest in technology applied to medical services and information management so as to cope with continuously increased medical care needs in an aging society and improvement in shortage of medical manpower. This research is mainly focus on the self-service technology which emerged from smart hospitals and digital healthcare issue in recent years. Through mobile applications, KIOSK enable patients to directly access needed resources by themselves. Also, self-service technology can also help to relieve the loads of work for frontline medical workers. For the purpose of getting best benefit of using self-service technology, the most important is how to enhance patient’s willingness to complete the hospital service process by self- service technology. Thus, the aim of this study is the influence upon behavioral intentions in using self-service technology in hospital and analyze the key influence factors according to UTAUT model.

The understanding of the main determinants of Internet banking adoption is important for banks and users. If banks understand users’ concerns, then they will be able to provide better services. In this investigation we developed a conceptual model that combined the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) with perceived risk in order to explain behaviour intention and usage behaviour of Internet banking. To test the conceptual model we collected data from Portugal (249 valid cases). We found that the model explained 60 percent of intention to use variance and 81 percent of usage variance. Our findings supported some relationships of UTAUT, as performance expectancy, effort expectancy and social influence, and also the role of risk as a stronger predictor of intention. To explain usage behaviour of Internet banking the most important factor was behavioural intention.

Abstract:
In this study, the researcher explores the factors that influence preservice teachers’ acceptance of information and communication technology (ICT) integration in the classroom. A mixed methods design is used, where the qualitative results from two focus groups are used to help explain the initial findings of the quantitative survey. The survey is based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), which was developed by Venkatesh et al. in 2003 and shown to outperform eight preceding models, explaining 70% of the variance in user intentions. The role of the UTAUT variables (performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions) are examined in this study and the resulting regression model accounts for 27% of the variance in user intentions to use ICT, with effort expectancy surfacing as the only significant predictor of behaviour intention. Results and recommendations for future research in the application of the UTAUT model are discussed to better understand the factors that influence preservice teachers’ acceptance of the effective integration of ICT into the classroom.

Today, the growth of technology in service delivery and increasing labor costs make service provides to think about new service delivery option which allows customers to serve themselves as an alternative way. Traditional full service is increasingly replaced with self service technology (SST), like touch screen, online banking, or self service check-in allow customers to perform the service by themselves. This research looks into the phenomenon of technology adoption for automated teller machine (ATM) and identifies potential factors after their intention toward banking usage. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) was applied to examine the effects of customers’ experience on ATM acceptance and other antecedents that affect their intention toward using self-service technology (SST). The research findings can help practitioners, who use SST to deliver their services, to implement successful distribution strategies and consumer educators to guide consumers on how better to use banking services.

Abstract:
The general objective of this doctoral research is the study of the determinants of the pedagogical integration of information and communication technology (ICT) by teachers at the University of Ouagadougou (UO). This led us to study respectively the technological skills of teachers, the resistance factors forcing the integration of ICT by these teachers together with the driving forces of ICT acceptance and ICT educational uses by teachers at this university. This work is built around theoretical concepts of educational uses of ICT, techno pedagogical competences, factors of resistance to ICT use, acceptance and use of ICT and pedagogical integration of ICT. These concepts are included in frameworks for analysis of ICT integration models by teachers and acceptance and use of new technology models. The strategy of data analysis is built around descriptive and analytical approaches, including the use of psychometrics and / or econometrics models with limited dependent variables. Using quantitative research, the recruitment of 82 professors of this university by a notice of consent to participate to the survey, has allowed collecting data on the basis of questionnaires, most of which being built around Likert scale questions. The study of teachers’ technological skills enables on the one hand, to portray a picture of ICT use by teachers. The most common ICT uses at the University of Ouagadougou are the office software, software for email and Internet browsing. On the other hand, it allows a portrait of teachers’ technological skills. They use many softwares and most of them recognize the importance of ICT to their teaching duties and research, but their degree of perceived control on some of ICT applications remains at very low levels. The teachers presented very high control over the skills to exploit ICT in situations of communication and collaboration and also those intended to seek and process information using ICT. These skills reflect their use of electronic means of communication and search engines and the importance that teachers attach to these ICT applications. Moreover, despite the great importance that teachers give to some advanced skills in ICT, they were found at very low levels of mastery of these skills which are those to create learning situations in using ICT and those intended to develop and disseminate learning resources using ICT. Although teachers already use and combine several applications of ICT, their current level of technology skills and teaching does not allow them to effectively use these technologies in their teaching practices. They must necessarily acquire these essential advanced skills. The study of resistance factors helped to establish a typology of these factors. They range from material and infrastructural constraints to those related to computer skills and the availability of support and technical assistance at the institutional level to promote the use of ICT applications in education. It also assessed the compatibility of ICT with teaching duties and research faculty, the perceived usefulness of ICT for educational activities and research facilities, the motivation and / or personal commitment of teachers to use ICT and the influence of social conditions on such uses. There are also the costs of ICT access (Internet and computer equipment), which have shown a negative influence on teachers and violating the development of these educational uses of ICT. The empirical assessment of determinants of acceptance and educational uses of ICT by teachers reveals that, it is mainly the teachers’ "behavioural intention" to go to ICT and "the Internet experience" that affect positively these uses. The "facilitation conditions" that represent not only the quality of the technological infrastructure, but also the existence of institutional support to use ICT, have negatively affected these practices. The elements that can improve educational uses of ICT in the university have been identified from the results of this research: these recommend the teachers’ training on specific identified skills, the improvement of the quality of the existing technological infrastructure, the creation a software library, the implementation of adequate institutional incentives such as regular technical assistance to teachers, the reduction of statutory hourly volumes to innovative teachers, the recognition of the efforts already made by these innovative educational uses of ICT within their institution.

There are lots of innovative electronic products in the recent years, and tablet PC is the most important one to most computer users. Moreover, tablet PCs raise significant competition to both traditional desktop and laptop personal computers. With its unique characteristic of portability and mobility, tablet PCs have the potential of replacing desktop and laptop personal computers. Several studies showed that consumers are often influenced by their psychological and social behaviors when purchasing. In many cases, conformity behavior plays an important role in selecting innovative products like tablet PCs. Based on the integrated theory of UTAUT and conformity behavior, this study is aiming to identifying the key factors that would impact consumers on acceptance of tablet. The data from the survey was analyzed using structural equation modeling. Using the constructs of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, information influence, and normative influence, our results indicate that all constructs, including both informational conformity and normative conformity, positively relate to the intention to use tablet PCs. Meanwhile, the analytical results show that moderating efforts of experience to both informational and normative conformities exist. These findings may help suppliers to anticipate and predict customer intention to adopt tablet PCs and provide further insights for the development of tablet PCs marketing strategies.

Taiwan's students rely on textbooks heavily. Under the pressure of undertaking a variety of examinations, students read textbooks frequently and hope to get higher grades and better educational care. Recently, a trend shows that the willingness of buying textbooks among college students is decreasing because the global economic environment becomes worse and the collegiate textbooks are relatively more expensive. Therefore, many scholars, experts, and publishers began to think about alternative to replace traditional form of textbooks. With the rapid development of information technology, e-textbooks become one of the powerful solutions. This study aims to know what factors can contribute to the acceptance of e-textbooks among college students. This study uses (Unified theory of acceptance & use of technology, UTAUT) to know the behavioral intention of college students to adopt e-textbooks. In this study, a total of 1140 questionnaires were collected that include 912 valid ones. Through the empirical results, we found that performance expectancy, perceived enjoyment, (Perceived task-technology fit, perceived TTF), perceived cost and effort expectancy are the main factors to affect the behavioral intention of college students. Among these factors, performance expectancy is the most powerful factor. Finally, this study proposes a summary: e-textbooks provide lots of advantages, but the most important goal of e-textbooks is to help students overcome their learning problems and improve the learning performance. In the future, developing the e-textbooks must not forget to help students learn.

Abstract:
The technology market has been undergoing unprecedented changes and growth. From day to day new products, new concepts or new ideas arise on a rhythm like never. One of the most prominent trends in this evolution is the so-called Internet of Things. Technological gadgets no longer require human intervention to communicate with each other, they do it autonomously and without requiring a direct command. Smart cities, smart homes, smart objects are a trend in the technological market, and it is impossible to be present at a technology fair without being approached by a new product that will revolutionize human life by increasing the use of technology. In this product segment, we have seen the growth of smart speakers. Speakers that are not limited to reproducing music, but became a complementary object of human life, enhancing the efficiency and automated interaction of smart elements. In this dissertation project, we propose to investigate the acceptance of smart speakers in Portugal. To gather data on which we could withdraw conclusions, a questionnaire was developed, adapted from the one developed by Venkatesh et al. (2012). This questionnaire provided insights on which constructs the Portuguese consumer found important or not, in their decision-making process. The results show that the Portuguese consumers do not look at these products as a product that helps to improve their lives, but as a product for entertainment and leisure use. Besides this, the Portuguese consumer identifies social influence as an important factor to increase their use of this technology.

Companies in the fashion industry are increasingly establishing their presence online, in the form of online platforms, such as websites. However, some brands are more successful than others in selling fashion clothing online. In this perspective, the two main objectives of the dissertation are: (i) to adapt and extend the UTAUT model in the context of online shopping for fashion clothing; (ii) to compare the adapted model in two regions of Portugal and Italy. By testing the adapted model in two regions of Portugal and Italy, the study gives insights into online consumer behaviour when using fashion websites. Results are based on a survey of 312 Internet users who are familiar with fashion websites. Findings reveal that perceived website quality is the strongest predictor of online behaviour, having a positive impact on customer satisfaction, website trust and word-of-mouth. Besides, the present study explores whether online shoppers are or are not influenced by other customers’ reviews and finds evidence that online customer reviews do not impact consumers’ perceptions of online shopping usefulness.
