ABSTRACT Brinjal Solanum melongela L. is an important vegetable crop of subtropics and tropic with fuel, nutritional and ayurvedic medicinal value. In India it is cultivated in almost all states. Therefore, ecology and control of insect pests have been studied from Kolhapur region of India. ABSTRACT The significance of the Ruzizi Delta: Rusizi Burundian Delta (RBD) and Ruzizi Congolese Delta (RCD), in the Great Lakes Region for bird conservation was investigated from April 2019 to November 2021 in five sites of the RBD and five sites of the RCD. The investigation was conducted by direct observation on transects counts, counting points and on bird species recognition routes using binoculars and two telescopes. Abstract Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE) is one of the established metrics for benchmarking management of Nitrogen (N) in various systems. Numerous approaches to calculate NUE exist, making it difficult to compare the performances of systems depending on the methodology used. This study adopted the conceptualized framework by European Union Nitrogen Expert Panel (EUNEP) to calculate NUE values for cereal crops to determine future trends for the first time in the Lake Victoria region. Data were collected through in-person interviews among maize and rice smallholder farmers within the Lake Victori

Climate change induced sea-level rise (SLR) is on its increase globally. Regionally the lowlands of China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and islands of the Malaysian, Indonesian and Philippine archipelagos are among the world’s most threatened regions. Sea-level rise has major impacts on the ecosystems and society. It threatens coastal populations, economic activities, and fragile ecosystems as mangroves, coastal salt-marches and wetlands. This paper provides a summary of the current state of knowledge of sea level-rise and its effects on both human and natural ecosystems. The focus is on coastal urban

Abstract Results are reported for a fertilizer field trial with nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) fertilizers in a 100-yr-old black spruce stand in the Lake Nipigon region of northern Ontario. A comparison of four levels of N (0, 112, 224, and 336 kg/ha) revealed significant effects (p = .05) of treatment on diameter growth. In a comparison of N (112 and 224 kg/ha) in combination with K and PK (74 and 93 kg/ha, respectively) the volume growth of fertilized trees, at the end of 5 and 10 years, was generally greater than that of controls, but not significantly greater (p = .05). A community-based cross-sectional study was undertaken in the Union Territory of Chandigarh with the aim to track the elimination of IDD to determine the iodine status of school children unexamined for goiter status and excretion median urinary iodine concentration. In semi-closed coastal brackish systems, the stratification of the water column due to the interaction between freshwater and seawater can lead to a reduction in the dissolved oxygen (DO) levels in the bottom layers, consequently affecting the benthic nutrient flux and causing the degradation in water quality. We performed in situ investigations using a benthic lander to examine changes in the sediment oxygen demand (SOD) and benthic nutrient flux during the development of stratification in the downstream area of an artificially constructed brackish lake.
