Abstract:
This study tested the effectiveness of a small-group preventive intervention designed to prevent unwanted sexual contact among cadets at the US Air Force Academy. Among cadets in the incoming class of 2021, unwanted sexual contact was cut by nearly half in the intervention group relative to the control group. This study is one of the first rigorously designed trials to demonstrate a significant impact on unwanted sexual contact among students attending a US military service academy. Trial Registration. The 1954 Oppenheimer Security Hearing was a product of the intense domestic political struggles in the United States amidst the outbreak of the Cold War and the prevailing McCarthyism. It marked a significant clash between the scientific community, which stood for academic freedom, and the political and military establishments. The revocation of Dr. Oppenheimer's Q-level security clearance signified the complete termination of his ties with the American political sphere. The case sparked considerable controversy, primarily focusing on whether the lawsuit brought against Dr. Oppenheimer and the

A big challenge in academia is motivating students and helping them store information long-term. One known method to help students retain information is spaced learning, which allows for certain time intervals in which concepts are re-tested versus waiting until the end of a block to test a learning objective. One method to motivate students is implementing bonus opportunities that keep students engaged in the material. We combine these methods via a spaced daily versus bulk review program incentivized with bonus points. To investigate this method, we designed and implemented a classroom resea

These PFAS compounds are very stable and persist in the environment. The PFAS contamination is a growing health issue as these compounds have been reported to impact human health and have been detected in both domestic and global water sources. Contaminated water found on military bases poses a potentially serious health concern for active duty military, their families, and the surrounding communities. ABSTRACT Introduction The Army uses permethrin-treated uniforms as the primary method to protect soldiers from tick-borne diseases. Permethrin binds strongly to fabric and provides long-term protection against many blood-feeding arthropods. However, protection decreases if the uniforms are not washed and cared for according to label instructions. This study was conducted among cadets at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, NY, to determine what the cadets know about permethrin and how they care for and wear their uniforms.
