Abstract:
Wang tiles are unit-size squares with coloured edges. In this paper, we approach one aspect of the study of tiling computability: the quest for a universal tile set. Using a complex construction, based on Robinson's classical construction and its different modifications, we build a tile set (pronounced ayin) that almost always simulates any tile set. By way of Banach–Mazur games on tilings topological spaces, we prove that the set of -tilings that do not satisfy the universality condition is meagre in the set of -tilings.

We illustrate, with some elementary gambling, that the gambling markets constitute an environment where risky choices can be measured only with probabilities. In this article, I discuss the potential that a dialogic approach to teaching game (design) in an intercultural postgraduate classroom in UK higher education can have to unsettle limited and universalist models to engage with video games. Through reflections on my own teaching practice, supported by interviews with former students who undertook my course in the period between 2019 and 2022, I argue that game educators can be understood as cultural workers, as suggested by Paulo Freire. This argument is supported by the concept of game literacies and Freirean critical pedagogies, more specifica

Through its commitment to universalism, the inclusion of disabled people has become an increasingly prominent objective of the Paralympic Games. To achieve this, the organisers rely on the notion of legacy, which refers to the expected effects of major sporting events on host countries. This notion was initially founded on material aspects and then took an interest in certain intangible sides that were spotted within the organiser’s goals and studied in literature. Building on the historical literature about the Paralympic movement’s institutionalization, this article shows that this instituti

The Olympic Charter, on which the IOC must rely in its activities, proclaims the absence of any form of discrimination, including national origin. De jure, the Olympic Charter establishes the principle of “sport outside of politics”. However, the current practice shows that politics and the sport of high achievements cannot be separated. Often, specific circumstances force the IOC to make decisions that are far from sports issues. Modern sports, especially the Olympic Games, have long been the arena of not only sports, but also political struggle. In different periods of history, t
