Abstract:
Abstract: Choosing the right college is a pivotal step for aspiring engineers, as it greatly influences their career trajectory in the field of engineering. Many students face confusion when completing admission forms, often due to insufficient information and a lack of understanding about how to prioritize their preferred colleges on their selection lists. As competition for admission into education increases, it becomes even more important for applicants to find correct college which is suitable for him that fit their requirements and expectation. Selecting appropriate college to apply, however, is a time-consuming process, especially when looking for colleges at graduate level due to the various factors in decision making imposed by the colleges and applicants. In this project, we propose a recommendation system that suggests appropriate colleges to the students based on K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm. As graduate programs make decisions based on applicants’ qualification, our recommender considers user’s personal data and cutoff data of various graduate colleges registered by college admin.

Abstract:
Young people’s heavy alcohol use has been widely linked to their “drinking cultures.” Recent scholarly commentary, however, suggests that prevailing conceptualizations of drinking culture, including those in “public health-oriented” research, tend to oversimplify the complexities involved. This article contributes to the conceptual clarification and development of young people’s “drinking cultures.” We provide a case study of a highly publicized example—that of Australian university residential college students. The case study focuses on the role of residential college policy and management in students’ alcohol use, examining how they represent, understand, and address it. Adopting a qualitative approach, we identify and analyze key themes from college policy documents and minimally structured interviews with college management related to students’ alcohol use. Our analysis is informed by two key existing works on the subject. The first is a sociological framework theorizing young people’s heavy drinking as a “culture of intoxication,” which is embedded in and shaped by broader social forces, especially those linked to a “neoliberal social order.” The second draws on findings from a previously published study on student drinking in university residential colleges that identified the significant role of institutional “micro-processes” for shaping alcohol use in university residential colleges. In understanding the specific character of students’ drinking in Australian university residential colleges, however, we also draw on sociological—specifically neo-institutionalist—approaches to organizations, proposing that Australian college policy and management related to students’ drinking do not operate simply as regulatory influences. Rather, they are organizational processes integral to residential college students’ drinking cultures and their making. Accordingly, college alcohol policy and management of students’ drinking, as they have prevailed in this Australian context, offer limited opportunities for minimizing harmful drinking.

Abstract:
Purpose: Due to the significant pace and divergence in higher education, choosing the university that best suits the student's goals is crucial. The university's ranking may also influence students' decisions in choosing. Universities face rising competition from other institutions, such as new or internationally emerging universities, colleges, and even organizational training courses, on a national and global level. Thus, this study aims to identify the broad categories of determinants in the information required of college students who expect and need when selecting a university to continue their studies.
Methodology: Using questionnaires, research data was gathered from Omani college students. They addressed their requirements, expectations, and understanding of choosing a university. Using the SEM-PLS software, these data were thematically examined.
Findings: The study found that factors like infrastructure and location of the university had little influence on students' decisions. But it was found that the university reputation was significantly influenced by choosing a university. The findings imply that criteria like location and infrastructure may be less significant than a university's reputation, which is crucial in decision-making among college students

Abstract:
Articulation agreements between colleges and universities, whereby students with two-year college diplomas can receive advancement toward a four-year university degree, are provincially mandated in some Canadian provinces and highly encouraged in others. In this study, we compared learning in college-transfer and direct-entry from high school (DEHS) students at the University of Guelph–Humber in Ontario, using eight factors related to learning: age, gender, years of prior postsecondary experience, learning approach, academic performance, use of available learning resources, subjective course experience, and career goals. Our results show that while college-transfer students tend to be older than DEHS students, they do not significantly differ in either learning approach or academic performance. This is an important finding, suggesting that college-transfer programs are a viable option for non-traditional university students. We conclude that the academic success of college-transfer students is attainable with careful consideration of policies, such as admissions criteria, and the drafting of formal articulation agreements between institutions.

Abstract:
At present, many colleges attach more and more importance to the cultivation of scientific research ability of college students. However, there is no unified standard to effectively measure the cultivation effect. The current performance inference method cannot comprehensively evaluate the scientific research ability of college students. Few scholars have directly analyzed the college students’ scientific research ability from the internal and external influencing factors. Therefore, this paper tries to design and implement a neural network analysis system for scientific research ability evaluation of college students. After surveying the status quo of scientific research ability evaluation of college students in northern China’s Hebei Province, a hierarchical evaluation index system was constructed for college students’ scientific research ability, referring to the existing evaluation index systems, and the weights were designed for the evaluation indices. Next, the backpropagation (BP) neural network was optimized by chaotic sine-cosine grasshopper optimization algorithm (CSCGOA) and used to establish a neural network analysis system for scientific research ability evaluation of college students. The proposed system was proved effective through experiments. The relevant results effectively enhance the scientific level and accuracy of the evaluation of college students’ scientific research ability, improve the cultivation of college students, and provide a scientific basis for colleges to understand the scientific research ability of their students.

Abstract:

Background: College choice decision remains one of the major issues for the students and parents especially during the time of admission.
Objective: Understanding this problem, this research, taking colleges of Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University as the samples, assesses which of the characteristics― institutional, marketing, and social are more dominant in this decision.
Method: The study, based on the primary survey; uses the questionnaire to collect data among the management students of bachelor’s level in Lalitpur and Kathmandu district, shows that academic program, quality of education, and social factors are the key factors that impact college choice decision. The study employs convenient sampling techniques. The tendency of students to make college choice decisions depends on the colleges’ academic programs that they have concentrated.
Result: The results suggest that college should focus their eyes to apply different types of academic programs, adopt quality education in terms of appointing highly qualified faculties and even contribute certain margin to social support, employability of the students over the market and position of enrolment of the students in higher education. These characteristics enable the colleges to run and sustain in the long run.
Conclusion: To mitigate the moderating impact on college choice, the variable gender is used, however, its impact on the relationship of college fees and college choice is not supported by the study.

Abstract:
Over recent years, socio-political discourse has been full of language aimed at reaching gender equality. This is a complex goal that should address the underlying bases of inequality—gender stereotypes that continue to legitimize unequal consideration and treatment. It is also a reality that universities are not exempt from. The objective of this study was to analyze university students’ stereotyped beliefs and look at the differences based on self-identified gender and branch of knowledge. The analysis looked at a sample of 3433 university students (67.9% women), aged between 17 and 56 (M = 18.95; SD = 2.35) and reported low rates of prevalence of stereotyped beliefs, with significantly higher means in men and in engineering students. The survival of gender stereotypes in a population who were born and raised in a legally egalitarian society points to the importance of education programs aimed at university teachers that would give them the capacity to incorporate a gender perspective in all disciplines, especially those disciplines reporting greater adherence to stereotyped beliefs.

With the increase in the number of college students, the problem of family poverty among college students has also attracted the attention of colleges and universities. There are still many problems to be solved in the link of university funding. This article takes college students as the management object and designs a set of college funding information management system to complete the information management of college funding information for college students. The system adopts distributed and modular design ideas, divided into two parts, software and hardware, and uses MySQL as the back-end database to research and design a set of B/S university funding information management system. The system not only improves work efficiency but also ensures the safety and accuracy of data. We first tested the pressure performance of the system, and the final result shows that the system has good robustness. Then, we investigated the attitudes of impoverished students from 120 colleges and universities towards the information management system of college funding from 2016 to 2021. Combining with the data obtained from the survey and sorting and analyzing the data, the survey results show that at least 83.54% of poor students believe that this system has a greater effect on the information management of poor students. In addition, more than 64.31% are quite satisfied with the system; of course, 19.01% of them are unclear. Therefore, it can be considered that the system has a large effect on information management.

Faced with more and more data sources and larger amounts of data today, data mining can effectively obtain valuable information from them and can enable people to better predict possible data information in the future, thereby improving work efficiency. Pheromone update uses a combination of global update and local update. The improved algorithm can balance the relationship between ants’ exploration and development in the process of searching rules. The government’s macroentrepreneurial policy has an important impact on college students’ entrepreneurship. Whether the entrepreneurship can obtain government financial support, whether the entrepreneurial process is simple and easy to do, etc., all affect the enthusiasm of college students to start a business and the success of the business. As an important place for college students to live and study, colleges and universities play a vital role in the growth and future development of college students. Major colleges and universities should improve entrepreneurship education, provide materials and manpower such as teaching materials and teachers, and improve the entrepreneurial quality of college students. In addition, colleges and universities should actively establish and improve the entrepreneurial practice platform for college students to help students gain entrepreneurial experience from practice. As the backbone of the social economy, enterprises should play an appropriate role in college students’ entrepreneurship. On the one hand, they should actively provide entrepreneurial funds, and they should be willing to give college students experience guidance. Only with the joint efforts of the government, universities, and enterprises, can it be possible to establish a practical and effective support system for undergraduate entrepreneurship, promote undergraduate entrepreneurship, and increase the success rate of undergraduate entrepreneurship.

Abstract. UCC has been a leading institution for sustainability in Ireland and beyond for a number of decades. The approach at UCC has been to integrate sustainability within the operations, teaching, research and engagment activities of the University. Operationally UCC implements best practice in managing water consumption and disposal. Through our Green Campus programme, students, academic and professional services staff are actively engaged in environmental management on campus. Our water conservation efforts have followed the approach taken with energy management through our Saver Saves scheme. This scheme established Green Teams within Buildings and a revolving fund mechanism whereby teams were incentivised to reduce consumption and supported to implement projects specific to their individual setting. A major exercise to baseline water consumption was undertaken a number of years ago and drawing on these findings, specific projects have been implemented to improve efficiency. This paper will explore sustainability at UCC across operations, teaching, research and engagement with a specific focus on water. Abstract:
Community colleges are significant in the landscape of undergraduate STEM (science technology, engineering, and mathematics) education (9), including biology, premedical, and other preprofessional education. Thirty percent of first-year medical school students in 2012 attended a community college. Students attend at different times in high school, their first 2 yr of college, and postbaccalaureate. The community college pathway is particularly important for traditionally underrepresented groups. Premedical students who first attend community college are more likely to practice in underserved communities (2). For many students, community colleges have significant advantages over 4-yr institutions. Pragmatically, they are local, affordable, and flexible, which accommodates students' work and family commitments. Academically, community colleges offer teaching faculty, smaller class sizes, and accessible learning support systems. Community colleges are fertile ground for universities and medical schools to recruit diverse students and support faculty. Community college students and faculty face several challenges (6, 8). There are limited interactions between 2- and 4-yr institutions, and the ease of transfer processes varies. In addition, faculty who study and work to improve the physiology education experience often encounter obstacles. Here, we describe barriers and detail existing resources and opportunities useful in navigating challenges. We invite physiology educators from 2- and 4-yr institutions to engage in sharing resources and facilitating physiology education improvement across institutions. Given the need for STEM majors and health care professionals, 4-yr colleges and universities will continue to benefit from students who take introductory biology, physiology, and anatomy and physiology courses at community colleges.

Abstract:
Background There was a concern about the shortage of nurses that resulted from the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, universities and university colleges were instructed to continue educating nursing professionals but were challenged by the social distancing and the limitations of clinical placements and clinical-field instructors. Clinical placement is essential in the students’ development of practical skills and knowledge. Thus, transitioning to a digital follow-up platform of communication with the students between the universities/college and the clinical practice sites became necessary. Purpose To obtain knowledge about the experiences from the university/college teachers, students, and clinical-field instructors regarding the transition to a digital learning environment that resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods Qualitative individual digital interviews were conducted for data collection at three different nursing education programs from three Norwegian university/university college sites. Five students, four clinical-field instructors, and nine university/college teachers participated (n = 18). Results The inductive analyses identified two main themes: (1) Efficiency compromising pedagogical quality, and (2) Digital alienation. Conclusions Students and university/college teachers were worried about fluctuating quality with digital pedagogical. There were concerns that the students educated during this period will have reduced clinical competencies.

Currently, there is great interest across Ontario in the expansion of pathway programs between colleges and universities. Through strategic partnerships, two Ontario-based postsecondary institutions (a college and a university) have developed innovative and effective pathway programs that facilitate the transition of students between institutions for the completion of degrees, diplomas, and certificates. These programs support the training of highly qualified, market-ready graduates. This paper reports on a mixed-methods study of the successes and challenges of a particular Ontario college and university pathway program, with a focus on the Bachelor of Commerce Pathway program. Preliminary results indicate that pathway students were more academically successful than their traditional university student counterparts but did experience a number of challenges in transitioning from college into university. Principal challenges included inefficient communication between program administrators, academic advisors, and students; lack of orientation activities for pathway students; lack of college student preparedness in communication and critical thinking skills; and difficulties experienced by college students integrating into the social-cultural life of the university.

Abstract:
It is very important to implement sex education for college students who are in the important period of adolescent development. Good sex education has an important influence on the establishment of individual self-concept and the formation of perfect personality. The mission of colleges and universities is to cultivate students’ comprehensive and healthy development, and they should take the responsibility of being the main force in implementing sex education for college students. At present, only one-third of universities in China have held lectures related to sex education, and no more than 10% of universities have offered and are offering related courses. Overall, there is a serious lack of systematic and comprehensive sex education in China’s colleges and universities, and the solution to this problem requires the collaboration of society, schools and parents.

Abstract:
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to verify the clinical approach knowledge of graduate students from two colleges (public and private) concerning dental caries. MATERIAL AND METHOD:A case report containing patient general data, photos, and radiographs were presented for the students, which responded tests and a discursive question. Discursive answers were analyzed according to content analysis technique, and posteriorly dichotomized for statistical analysis. (Chi-square, p<0.05). RESULT: Response rates (n=72) were 85.71% in the public college, and 92.30% in the private college. After x-rays evaluation and considering the diverse dynamics by which both schools perform their patient care management, it was observed that less than 10% of the public college students would perform conservative procedures in primary teeth, while at least 30% of private college students would decide for conservative procedures for all cases (p<0.001). Concerning the permanent dentition, the majority of the public college students would perform "conservative" approach. "Preventative-conservative practice" was similarly observed amongst public and private college students. CONCLUSION:Both in public and in private college were similar curative e approaches (primary teeth) and preventative +conservative (permanent teeth).

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects and mechanisms of physical activity on mobile phone addiction among college students. A total of 9406 students, ranging from freshmen to seniors, from 35 colleges in four regions of Jiangsu Province were selected using the whole group sampling method. Questionnaires, particularly the International Physical Activity Questionnaire—Long Form (IPAQ), the positive psychological capital scale (PPQ), the social adjustment diagnostic questionnaire (SAFS), and the mobile phone addiction index scale (MPAI), were administered. We found that physical activity negatively predicted mobile phone addiction among university students. Social adaptation partially mediates between physical activity and mobile phone addiction among university students, with separate mediation of psychological capital playing no indirect role. Psychological capital and social adjustment mediate the chain between physical activity and mobile phone dependence among college students. Our findings suggest that physical activity is an important external factor influencing college students’ mobile phone dependence, and it indirectly affects university students’ mobile phone addiction through psychological capital and social adaptation. Improving the physical activity level of college students, enhancing their psychological capital, and promoting improved social adaptation are important ways to prevent mobile phone addiction among college students.

Abstract:
Sexual assault constitutes a significant public health problem on college campuses including historically Black colleges and universities (HBCU). Recent research suggests that sexual assault is increasing on college campuses. However, there are few studies examining the prevalence and risk factors for sexual assault at HBCUs. To address this gap, the current study examined the prevalence, correlates, and outcomes of sexual assault at an HBCU. Participants in the study were 264 undergraduate students from an HBCU in the mid-Atlantic region. The majority of participants were female (71%), African American (91%), and seniors (41%). After providing informed consent, participants completed a Climate Assessment survey administered by the university’s Office of Diversity. Findings revealed that since starting college about 20% of students experienced sexual contact without consent. Of those sexually assaulted, 20% reported they were incapacitated or under the influence of alcohol (15%) at the time of the assault. About 17% of those assaulted experienced a physical injury and/or poor mental health outcomes (e.g., anxiety, depression, flashbacks). Participants reported not disclosing information of their assault due to embarrassment, afraid of retaliation from the perpetrator, believing it was a private matter. Close friends were more likely to be told about sexual assault. The study supports the need to address sexual assault on HBCU campuses through strong prevention and intervention programs and to address barriers to reporting.

Abstract:
This study aimed to classify college students according to the theory of identity-based motivation (IBM), which posits that individuals exhibit higher motivation and goal achievement levels when aligning personal identity with goals. College students were classified according to three components constituting identity-based motivation: psychological relevance, readiness to act, and interpretation of experienced difficulty. Through exploratory factor analysis, seven factors involving identity-based motivation were identified: expectations for the utility of university education, expectations for the outcomes of university education, proactive learning attitudes, class participation, study group activities, academic counseling, and satisfaction with university education. These factors were used to classify college student types and investigate student factors and university factors influencing this classification. Using data from the National Assessment of Student Engagement and Learning (NASEL) in 2022 by the Korea Educational Development Institute, multilevel latent profile analysis was applied for analysis. The results of the study offer extended discussions and policy implications.
First, the identity-based motivation levels among Korean university students were relatively low, which suggests that it is difficult to effectively regulate or mitigate the impact of social contexts on academic performance. Second, although Korean college students have high expectations for university education, they are passive in activities that require active participation, voluntariness, and proactiveness, such as study group activities or counseling with faculty. Third, it was evident that factors like gender, high school background, and GPA still play a significant role as help or obstacles for college students to study hard with a bright outlook for the future. Lastly, the level of identity-based motivation of students attending small and medium-sized community colleges was higher than that of students attending large general admission-year universities: This highlights the need for enhanced career and employment support education at the university level to alleviate ambiguity and uncertainty regarding students’ livelihood after graduation.

Abstract:
The purpose of the research was to discover the views of three groups of International students who were undertaking their Higher Education (HE) in a publicly-funded college, rather than a university setting. A comparative survey was undertaken by International students attending an American Community College, an Australian Technical and Further Education Institute and a group of English colleges which offer Higher Education. All three groups were satisfied with their provision. The college setting was perceived to offer higher levels of support than would have been available at a university, plus enhanced employability prospects and lower fees than those charged by a university. The status of an Australian, English or American HE qualification was important, as was the reputation of their particular college. The market for International students is highly competitive and largely driven by universities. The English experience suggests that colleges should focus on the marketing of specialist courses. In all cases, the fact that teaching staff were primarily teachers, rather than researchers was highly valued by respondents, as was their currency in their subject. However, there were strong feelings about value for money and the ability to engage with Home students and wider Australian, British or American culture. International students choose to study abroad because they want to broaden their own horizons and learn more about other cultures: many respondents found these opportunities to be limited. In order to help address this, an International student recruitment Checklist for senior college staff is presented as part of the research findings. Abstract:
In order to solve the problems faced in the current management of colleges and universities, this topic integrates data mining technology and traditional statistical analysis technology in the process of College data management, and integrates multisource campus raw data. Take corresponding research models for different research objectives, implement the fine, meticulous, and accurate management concept of colleges and universities for students, build a student information management platform and help the construction of smart campus. The research integrates the school’s multi-business system data, opens up the information channel between information systems, establishes a multisystem data center and realizes the whole life cycle management of College Students’ data, including data collection, cleaning, storage and file recycling, and records the data of important nodes during students’ enrollment, graduation, and departure. Through the analysis of the school’s business management needs and the study of the school’s data characteristics, the data collected from the system information has been effectively distributed, and the data linking process is only used to delete data features based on data features. Under the action of big data technology, the information platform for college students can be constructed, which can provide more efficient, safe, and comprehensive decision support for college students’ management, making all work decisions more scientific. It can be said that the integration of big data will support the management of college students to a new level, which is very important for the modern management of students.

Abstract:
Creative writing is the expression of ideas and thoughts in a manner that is unique to the author. The aims of the study are: determine the level of fourth-year students' creative writing abilities in the Department of English, Colleges of Education, and determine whether "there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of students from the College of Education for Women and the College of Education for Humanities". The hypothesis of this study are: there are no "statistically significant differences in the average creative writing grades of university students studying English as a foreign language", and there is a statistically "significant association between the average grades of fourth-year students in the Department of English at the College of Education for Humanities and the College of Education for Women" in terms of their creative writing abilities. The sample of the study is the students of the fourth stage in the Department of English. The research’s tool is a diagnostic test to measure students’ creative writing. The researcher concludes that creative writing involves adding one's own "style" to writing and beyond the usual bounds of academic or other technical types of literature. Creative writing is an expression of one's unique views, the emotions it evokes, and the heightened sensitivity one develops from exposure to human events. Creative writing involves creativity rather than copying, and originality rather than repetition. It depends on the availability of each individual's specific capabilities, prior experiences, and language skills.

Abstract:
Early college high schools (ECHSs) are partnerships between high schools and colleges or universities designed to enhance college readiness and completion, particularly among students traditionally underrepresented in higher education. We compared the self-reported motivational profiles of ECHS students to traditional first-year university students to explore the different college advising and support services each group may require. We found differences between the two groups in academic motivation, coping skills, and receptivity to support services. ECHS students also reported significantly higher levels of educational stress. Findings are of particular importance to advisors and support personnel who plan and program appropriate support services for incoming students. Implications of these findings are discussed.

Abstract:
Objective: College students of color represent a large portion of unmet mental health needs. Limited studies have been performed in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) setting on the utilization of mental health resources in African American (AA) college students. The primary purpose of this report is to document the utilization of both on- and off-campus mental health resources by AA students at an HBCU. Methods: A survey was administered to students enrolled at Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) who self-identified as AA in the Fall 2018 semester. Results: 30.2% and 35.2% of participants reported utilization of on- or off-resources, respectively. Conclusion: This study illustrates the lack of utilization of resources by AA students attending an HBCU. Future efforts should be focused on promoting mental health utilization at HBCUs across the nation.

Abstract:
The University is the cradle of the higher education. In the college life, the college students continue to accept the new knowledge and continue to grow. Obviously, the level of the university education will be directly related to the growth for the college students. Therefore, it is an important job to evaluate and order the college education quality. In this paper, we combine the Grey theory, TOPSIS with DEA method. And we propose an improved Grey-TOPSIS-DEA model. Then, we use the model to evaluate the college education quality. Finally, we get the rankings of the college education. In the last part of this paper, we use the method to evaluate the education quality for different colleges. And we verify the validity of the method.
