ABSTRACTAs more universities view students as customers and as more critics accuse universities of political bias, it is important to learn how students respond to professors’ politics. Does a politically active professor make a course more or less appealing? In this experiment, I randomly presented descriptions of course instructors to current university students and asked them to describe their appeal. Subjects expressed greater interest in professors who were politically ambiguous or whose politics matched their own. Conservative professors were more polarizing than liberal professors, and

The woman is considered the first nucleus of the family and the main pillar of its construction and cohesion. Whatever is said about her, we cannot fulfill her right due to the multiplicity and intertwining of her roles. Therefore, we decided to single her out for study in an important aspect, which is the aspect of teaching in higher education institutions. The subject of educational performance is one of the topics that has occupied the interest of many researchers and specialists in educational sciences because it is linked to the success of the educational process at all stages and levels,

In the UK the title ‘professor’ is generally applied only to the most senior academics – equivalent to North American full professors – and whom anecdotal evidence indicates to be often unprepared for the increasingly expansive academic leadership roles that they are expected to fulfil. The study reported in this paper was directed at exploring the reliability of such evidence, and the ways in which professors develop or prepare themselves, or are developed or prepared by others, for what are generally considered their professorial academic leadership roles. Although it's unclear whether cheating is on the rise on Vermont campuses, the process of going after offenders is so time-consuming and unwieldy that many offenders go unpunished, professors say. According to University of Vermont Sociology Professor Steve Berkowitz's 1990 survey of more than 800 randomly chosen UVM studtents, 16.5% of them have cheated on one or more academic assignments. Chemistry Professor Bill Meyer, however, calls the judicial process "laughable." He said he wishes for a return to the times when professors were allowed to discipline those caught cheating. Universities commonly engage Employee Assistance Programs to help workers with their problems. In this institutional case study of neoliberalism in action, I analyze the EAP newsletters from one Canadian institution I call “Corporate U” for their impact on full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty. I show how their messaging counterproductively amplifies pressures in today’s university to be resilient and perform and be accountable. I take the EAP to be an agent of the university, and as such, their newsletters demonstrate the rise of neoliberal managerialism in academic life. Of particular c

The information was obtained from a survey distributed through digital devices to a total of 1.433 students from the University of Lleida, Spain. The two most important competences were to clearly explain the contents followed by motivational stimulation. The least valued were stimulation for participation and collaborative work, and coordination with professors. The highest evaluation was directed to communicative, interpersonal relationship, and methodological competences.
