Abstract:
Substantial research has documented challenges women experience building and benefiting from networks to achieve career success. Yet fundamental questions remain regarding which aspects of men’s and women’s networks differ and how differences impact their careers. To spur future research to address these questions, we present an integrative framework to clarify how and why gender and networks—in concert—may explain career inequality. We delineate two distinct, complementary explanations: (1) unequal network characteristics (UNC) asserts that men and women have different network characteristics, which account for differences in career success; (2) unequal network returns (UNR) asserts that even when men and women have the same network characteristics, they yield different degrees of career success. Further, we explain why UNC and UNR emerge by identifying mechanisms related to professional contexts, actors, and contacts. Using this framework, we review evidence of UNC and UNR for specific network characteristics. We found that men’s and women’s networks are similar in structure (i.e., size, openness, closeness, contacts’ average and structural status) but differ in composition (i.e., proportion of men, same-gender, and kin contacts). Many differences mattered for career success. We identified evidence of UNC only (same-gender contacts), UNR only (actors’ and contacts’ network openness, contacts’ relative status), neither UNC nor UNR (size), and both UNC and UNR (proportion of men contacts). Based on these initial findings, we offer guidance to organizations aiming to address inequality resulting from gender differences in network creation and utilization, and we present a research agenda for scholars to advance these efforts.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Translation of picornavirus RNAs is mediated by internal ribosomal entry site (IRES) elements and requires both standard eukaryotic translation initiation factors (eIFs) and IRES-specific cellular trans-acting factors (ITAFs). Unr, a cytoplasmic RNA-binding protein that contains five cold-shock domains and is encoded by the gene upstream of N-ras, stimulates translation directed by the human rhinovirus (HRV) IRES in vitro. To examine the role of Unr in translation of picornavirus RNAs in vivo, we derived murine embryonic stem (ES) cells in which either one (−/+) or both (−/−) copies of the unr gene were disrupted by homologous recombination. The activity of picornaviral IRES elements was analyzed in unr +/+, unr +/−, and unr −/− cell lines. Translation directed by the HRV IRES was severely impaired in unr −/− cells, as was that directed by the poliovirus IRES, revealing a requirement for Unr not previously observed in vitro. Transient expression of Unr in unr −/− cells efficiently restored the HRV and poliovirus IRES activities. In contrast, the IRES elements of encephalomyocarditis virus and foot-and-mouth-disease virus are not Unr dependent. Thus, Unr is a specific regulator of HRV and poliovirus translation in vivo and may represent a cell-specific determinant limiting replication of these viruses.

Abstract:
CSDE1 (cold shock domain containing E1) gene is located upstream of the N-RAS locus, and codes for an RNA-binding protein named Upstream of N-Ras (UNR). In cancer, CSDE1 has been shown to regulate c-Fos, c-Myc, Pten, Rac1, or Vimentin. UNR/CSDE1 has been studied in breast, melanoma, pancreatic and prostate cancer. Then, the aim of this study is to evaluate the role of CSDE1/UNR in colorectal cancer progression and maintenance of aggressive phenotype. We firstly evaluated UNR/CSDE1 expression in human colon cancer derived cell lines and patient samples. Subsequently, we performed functional experiments by UNR/CSDE1 downregulation. We also evaluated UNR/CSDE1 prognostic relevance in two independent sets of patients. Not only was UNR/CSDE1 expression higher in tumor samples compared to untransformed samples, but also in colonospheres and metastatic origin cell lines than their parental and primary cell lines, respectively. Downregulation of UNR/CSDE1 reduced cell viability and migration throughout a restrain of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and increases sensitivity to apoptosis. Interestingly, high UNR/CSDE1 expression was associated with poor prognosis and correlated positively with c-MYC expression in colorectal cancer samples and cell lines. Here, we show for the first time compelling data reporting the oncogenic role of UNR/CSDE1 in human colorectal cancer.

Abstract:
Abstract Calcium and phosphate regulate PTH gene expression posttranscriptionally through the binding of trans-acting factors to a defined cis-acting instability element in the PTH mRNA 3′-untranslated region (UTR). We have previously defined AU-rich binding factor 1 as a PTH mRNA binding and stabilizing protein. We have now identified, by affinity chromatography, Upstream of N-ras (Unr) as another PTH mRNA 3′-UTR binding protein. Recombinant Unr bound the PTH 3′-UTR transcript, and supershift experiments with antibodies to Unr showed that Unr is part of the parathyroid RNA binding complex. Finally, because there is no parathyroid cell line, the functionality of Unr in regulating PTH mRNA levels was demonstrated in cotransfection experiments in heterologous human embryonic kidney 293 cells. Depletion of Unr by small interfering RNA decreased simian virus 40-driven PTH gene expression in human embryonic kidney 293 cells transiently cotransfected with the human PTH gene. Overexpression of Unr increased the rat full-length PTH mRNA levels but not a PTH mRNA lacking the terminal 60-nucleotide cis-acting protein binding region. Unr also stabilized a chimeric GH reporter mRNA that contained the rat PTH 63-nucleotide cis-acting element but not a truncated PTH element. Therefore, Unr binds to the PTH cis element and increases PTH mRNA levels, as does AU-rich binding factor 1. Our results suggest that Unr, together with the other proteins in the RNA binding complex, determines PTH mRNA stability.

Abstract:
<b><i>Background/Aims:</i></b> Undernutrition is common in patients after acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and predicts poor clinical outcomes. We assessed the relationship between undernutrition and prognosis after AIS. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> We retrospectively assessed consecutively hospitalized AIS patients aged ≥65 years. A poor prognosis for patients after AIS was defined as a modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of ≥3 at discharge. Nutritional status was evaluated based on the degree and risk of undernutrition as determined by the Controlling Nutritional Status (UND-CONUT) and Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (UNR-GNRI) scores. <b><i>Results:</i></b> Among 218 patients (male, 62.8%; median age, 77 years), 81 had a poor prognosis. A significant correlation was found between UND-CONUT and UNR-GNRI scores (<i>p</i> &#x3c; 0.001, <i>r</i> = 0.433). Patients with a poor prognosis showed significant undernutrition based on UND-CONUT (<i>p</i> = 0.003) but not on UNR-GNRI (<i>p</i> = 0.218). Patients with undernutrition based on UND-CONUT showed poor outcomes: higher mRS scores at discharge, higher percentages of mRS scores of ≥2 and ≥3, and more complications associated with pneumonia. No significant differences were seen between cases with and without undernutrition risk based on UNR-GNRI. <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> UND-CONUT appeared to be more useful than UNR-GNRI for predicting the prognosis of elderly patients with AIS at discharge.

Abstract:
Unr (upstream of N-ras) is a post-transcriptional regulator of gene expression, essential for mammalian development and mutated in many human cancers. The expression of unr is itself regulated at many levels; transcription of unr, which also affects expression of the downstream N-ras gene, is tissue and developmental stage-dependent and is repressed by c-Myc and Max (Myc associated factor X). Alternative splicing gives rise to six transcript variants, which include three different 5′-UTRs. The transcripts are further diversified by the use of three alternative polyadenylation signals, which governs whether AU-rich instability elements are present in the 3′-UTR or not. Translation of at least some unr transcripts can occur by internal initiation and is regulated in a cell-cycle-dependent manner; binding of PTB (polypyrimidine tract-binding protein) and Unr to the 5′-UTR inhibits translation, but these are displaced by heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins C1/C2 (hnRNPC1/C2) during mitosis to stimulate translation. Finally, Unr is post-translationally modified by phosphorylation and lysine acetylation, although it is not yet known how these modifications affect Unr activity.

Abstract:
Internal initiation of translation from the human rhinovirus-2 (HRV-2) internal ribosome entry site (IRES) is dependent upon host cell trans-acting factors. The multiple cold shock domain protein Unr and the polypyrimidine tract-binding protein have been identified as synergistic activators of HRV-2 IRES-driven translation. In order to investigate the mechanism by which Unr acts in this process, we have mapped the binding sites of Unr to two distinct secondary structure domains of the HRV-2 IRES, and have identified specific nucleotides that are involved in the binding of Unr to the IRES. The data suggest that Unr acts as an RNA chaperone to maintain a complex tertiary IRES structure required for translational competency.

Abstract:
Research investigating row spacing in high-yielding, high-input cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) production systems has found higher lint yields but no maturity benefits using high plant density, 25 cm spaced ultra-narrow rows (UNR). Seven experiments comparing 38 cm UNR and conventionally spaced rows (100 cm) were conducted over three years to determine if changes in plant density or management could optimize yield and maturity in a high-input UNR cotton production system. Two of these experiments compared 25, 38 and 100 cm spaced rows under different intra-row plant density (12 to 36 plants m−2). Three experiments managed 38 cm UNR and 100 cm spaced rows separately and one had extra early application of nitrogen and water. Across the seven experiments there were no differences in lint yield or crop maturity for 38 cm UNR compared to conventionally spaced rows. The only significant response to changes in inter- or intra-row density or agronomic management was an 18% increase in handpicked lint yield in the 12 plants m−2 38 cm UNR treatment compared to the same plant density in 100 cm spaced rows in one of the two experiments. This stability of yield response across row spacings indicates that there is an opportunity to reduce seed rates whilst maintaining yields in high-input UNR systems. UNR cotton did not require any difference in mepiquat chloride or nitrogen management compared with conventionally spaced cotton, nor did extra early inputs of nitrogen or water, and we concluded that is likely that the current recommendations for mepiquat chloride or nitrogen nutrition in conventionally spaced systems are appropriate for managing high-input UNR cotton crops.

Abstract:
Unr (upstream of N-ras) is a eukaryotic RNA-binding protein that has a number of roles in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. Originally identified as an activator of internal initiation of picornavirus translation, it has since been shown to act as an activator and inhibitor of cellular translation and as a positive and negative regulator of mRNA stability, regulating cellular processes such as mitosis and apoptosis. The different post-transcriptional functions of Unr depend on the identity of its mRNA and protein partners and can vary with cell type and changing cellular conditions. Recent high-throughput analyses of RNA–protein interactions indicate that Unr binds to a large subset of cellular mRNAs, suggesting that Unr may play a wider role in translational responses to cellular signals than previously thought.

Abstract:
A field experiment was conducted in 2000, 2001, and 2002 at Stoneville, MS, to determine the effect of spurred anoda interference on yield loss of two cotton cultivars, ‘Delta Pine 5415’ and ‘Pima S-6’, grown under wide (1 m) (WR) and ultra narrow (0.25 m) row (UNR) spacings. The relationship between spurred anoda density and dry weight per plot was linear each year. At a spurred anoda density of 8 m−2, spurred anoda dry weight per plot was 507, 322, and 777 g m−2in 2000, 2001, and 2002, respectively. However, spurred anoda did not interfere with seed cotton yield in 2001, which was probably attributable to the low branch development in that year. Yield losses exceeded 55% at a spurred anoda density of 8 m−2compared with controls in both WR and UNR. The effect of spurred anoda density on boll numbers was nearly identical in 2000 and 2002, regardless of cotton cultivar and row spacing. Boll weights decreased in response to spurred anoda interference. Spurred anoda interference resulted in a decrease in cotton branch dry weight in WR but not in UNR. The yield decrease as a result of spurred anoda interference in WR was due to reduction in boll retention or fruiting sites (predicated on a decrease in branch weight). However, in UNR, the yield decrease was due to plant mortality; the plant density of both cotton cultivars decreased by one plant for each additional spurred anoda, but the yield per plant for surviving plants remained constant. Neither WR nor UNR cotton had significant advantage in response to spurred anoda interference. The decreased boll weight observed in UNR, and the failure to increase boll numbers m−2to compensate for decreased boll weight in UNR compared with WR, may limit its appeal to cotton producers.

Efficient translation of human rhinovirus-2 (HRV-2) RNA from its internal ribosome entry site (IRES) depends on the presence of cellular trans-acting factors upstream of N- ras (unr) and polypyrimidine-tract-binding protein. unr contains five cold-shock domains (CSDs) and is predicted to act as an RNA chaperone, allowing the HRV-2 IRES to attain the correct conformation for ribosome binding. To investigate the role of each of the CSDs in IRES-dependent translation, five unr mutants, each harbouring a point mutation in a different CSD, were generated. All five mutants were severely impaired in their ability to bind to the IRES and to stimulate translation from it. This showed that the ability of unr to function as an activator of HRV-2 RNA translation requires the RNA-binding activity of all five CSDs.

Abstract:
The Draft Constitution of the Ukrainian People’s Republic (UNR), was prepared by the Commission of the Central Council of Ukraine in December 1917, had almost not been reflected in contemporary Ukrainian historiography. The subject of the research is the results of the work of the Legal Document Preparation Commission, which gave a legitimacy to the restoration of the Ukrainian statehood and were embodied in the Draft Constitution of the UNR. The methodology of the article is determined by the requirements of historical and legal research. The method of comparative legal analysis of legislative acts and normative documents allows comparing the Draft Constitution of the UNR with the Statute on the State System, Rights and Freedoms of the UNR, worked out on the basis of the above mentioned Draft. The analysis of the constitutional draft was carried out taking into account the specific historical conditions and circumstances of its emergence, according to the historical method of the interpretation of law. The method of qualitative analysis of legal documents was used to scrutinize the norms enshrined in the Draft Constitution of the UNR. The usage of various research methods allows following the evolution of the constitutional entrenchment of the restoration of Ukrainian statehood in the Universals of the Central Council of Ukraine, in laws and constitutional documents, as well as presenting Mychailo grushevsky’s vision of components of the future constitution, his confidence in the democratic character of the Ukrainian state, giving an opportunity to analyze the draft Constitution of the UNR, published in December 1917, and comparing it with the Statute on the State System, Rights and Freedoms of the UNR, which was approved by the Small Council in April 1918. According to the constitutional draft, the UNR, consisting of 10 provinces, should become an autonomous part of the Russian Federal Republic. The Draft Constitution included also the principles of popular sovereignty, democratic system, the division of powers, the creation of check-and-balance system in the functioning of the authorities, judicial guarantees of the sovereignty of the Ukrainian republic, decentralization and development of self-government, protection of the citizen rights and the rights of national minorities.

The article provides an analysis of the socio-political and diplomatic activities of Dmytro Levytskyi in 1914–1923, such as participation in revolutionary events in the Dnieper region in 1917–1918; directions of his diplomatic activity in Denmark in 1919–1920; priorities of emigration community work in Vienna in 1921–1922. It was noted that during the national liberation struggle, he, along with other leading figures of the Ukrainian People's Republic (UNR), did his best to establish the statehood and unification of Ukrainian lands. However, numerous miscalculations of leaders of the young state in the domestic and foreign policies made it impossible to realize the primordial aspirations of Ukrainians. The author presents a review of Dmytro Levytskyi's political views and activities: he welcomed the formation of the Central Council of Ukraine, the proclamation of the independence of the UNR, the signing of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk; as a member of the Galicia-Bukovyna Council he joined the Ukrainian National Union, which advocated the overthrow of the Hetman's power; due to his permanent stay in the capital of the UNR, he did not take an active part in the November disruption, 1918, and the formation of state institutions of the West Ukrainian People's Republic (ZUNR). However, the ZUNR leadership used his acquaintance with prominent figures of the UNR for establishing bilateral relations with the UNR Directory with the further prospect of unification of two Ukrainian states. Abstract:
ABSTRACT It has been reported previously that the 5′ untranslated region of the mRNA encoding Apaf-1 (apoptotic protease-activating factor 1) has an internal ribosome entry site (IRES), whose activity varies widely among different cell types. Here it is shown that the Apaf-1 IRES is active in rabbit reticulocyte lysates, provided that the system is supplemented with polypyrimidine tract binding protein (PTB) and upstream of N-ras (unr), two cellular RNA binding proteins previously identified to be required for rhinovirus IRES activity. In UV cross-linking assays and electrophoretic mobility shift assays with individual recombinant proteins, the Apaf-1 IRES binds unr but not PTB; however, PTB binding occurs if unr is present. Over a range of different cell types there is a broad correlation between the activity of the Apaf-1 IRES and their content of PTB and unr. In cell lines deficient in these proteins, overexpression of PTB and unr stimulated Apaf-1 IRES function. This is the first example where an IRES in a cellular mRNA has been shown to be functionally dependent, both in vitro and in vivo, on specific cellular RNA binding proteins. Given the critical role of Apaf-1 in apoptosis, these results have important implications for the control of the apoptotic cascade.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Akv1-99, a variant of Akv murine leukemia virus, induces B-cell lymphomas with nearly 100% incidence and a mean latency period of 12 months after injection into newborn NMRI mice. PCR amplification and sequence analyses of DNA flanking integrated proviruses revealed proviral insertion into the N-ras/unr (upstream of N-ras) locus in 2 out of 13 B-cell lymphomas, both of which appeared clonal by Southern blotting analysis. These two tumors showed increased expression levels of N-ras by Northern blotting, as did a third tumor shown by reverse transcriptase PCR to have a nonclonal provirus integration located in the same area. However, no significant changes in expression were observed when using a specific probe for the unr gene. All proviruses were integrated in the same transcriptional orientation as unr and N-ras genes. By promoter insertion, the two Akv1-99 proviruses integrated between exon −1 and exon 1 of N-rasgave rise to two different spliced products, whereas the provirus integrated into unr used only an exon skipping pattern. The absence of mutations of the N-ras codons 12, 13, 18, and 61 suggests that activation of the proto-oncogene is exclusively due to overexpression by retroviral promoter insertion, and furthermore, Northern blot analyses indicate that the expression of unris unaffected by N-ras overexpression even in the case where the unr gene itself is the target of proviral insertion. Thus, altogether our findings indicate that overexpression of N-ras plays a role in development of murine leukemia virus-induced B-cell lymphomas, leaving the expression of the tightly linked unr gene unaltered.

Abstract:
In the article author reviews ideological approaches and practical application of the “sobornist” of Ukraine concept by the State Center of Ukrainian People’s Republic (UNR) in exile. The views of leadership of the Ukrainian government in exile about “sobornist” are examined in the context of their debates with the emigrant political opponents and rivals in the occupied territories. Despite different conceptions of restoring Ukraine’s independence in the future, the UNR government’s emigration center was united in the idea that Ukraine would be consolidated into one state only when the Ukrainian government established control over Kyiv and the Dnieper region. Ideas of restoring independence of certain regions were considered unrealistic and harmful. The obstacle in establishing cooperation between the State Center of UNR and various political groups, including regional ones, was the consequences of the signing of the 1920 Warsaw Pact by the Directory of the UNR. The author also looks at the policies of the State Center of UNR in the international arena toward protection of rights of the Ukrainians during “pacification” in Poland (1930) and emergence of the Carpathian Ukraine (1938-1939). It is argued that reframing the concept of “sobornist” of Ukraine in the process of restoring Ukraine’s independence was a complex endeavor, which hindered consolidation of the emigrant Ukrainian parties in the years between two world wars.

Abstract:
GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is now widely observed to be a valuable tool that can be applied to teaching, learning, and research in many disciplines across academic campuses. The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Libraries are offering GIS support in the form of walk-in consultation sessions for the campus community. To learn more about what happens during GIS consultations the UNR GIS team gathered detailed data during the spring 2015 semester about its patrons and the functionality they are using. This knowledge can now be used to reevaluate and improve future GIS tutoring services at UNR Libraries. Lastly, this information is believed to be valuable to other academic libraries providing similar services.

Abstract:

Abstract:
OBJECTIVEAccess to the ventrolateral pontomesencephalic area may be required for resecting cavernous malformations, performing revascularization of the upper posterior circulation, and treating vascular lesions such as aneurysms. However, such access is challenging because of nearby eloquent structures. Commonly used corridors to this surgical area include the optico-carotid, supracarotid, and carotid-oculomotor triangles. However, the window lateral to the oculomotor nerve can also be used and has not been studied. The authors describe the anatomical window formed between the oculomotor nerve and the medial tentorial edge (the oculomotor-tentorial triangle [OTT]) to the ventrolateral pontomesencephalic area, and assess techniques to expand it.METHODSFour cadaveric heads (8 sides) underwent orbitozygomatic craniotomy. The OTT was exposed via a pretemporal approach. The contents of the OTT were determined and their anatomical features were recorded. Also, dimensions of the brainstem surface exposed lateral and inferior to the oculomotor nerve were measured. Measurements were repeated after completing a transcavernous approach (TcA), and after resection of temporal lobe uncus (UnR).RESULTSThe s1 segment and proximal s2 segment of the superior cerebellar artery (SCA) and P2A segment of the posterior cerebral artery (PCA) were the main contents of the OTT, with average exposed lengths of 6.4 ± 1.3 mm and 5.5 ± 1.6 mm for the SCA and PCA, respectively. The exposed length of the SCA increased to 9.6 ± 2.7 mm after TcA (p = 0.002), and reached 11.6 ± 2.4 mm following UnR (p = 0.004). The exposed PCA length increased to 6.2 ± 1.6 mm after TcA (p = 0.04), and reached 10.4 ± 1.8 mm following UnR (p < 0.001). The brainstem surface was exposed 7.1 ± 0.5 mm inferior and 5.6 ± 0.9 mm lateral to the oculomotor nerve initially. The exposure inferior to the oculomotor nerve increased to 9.3 ± 1.7 mm after TcA (p = 0.003), and to 9.9 ± 2.5 mm after UnR (p = 0.21). The exposure lateral to the oculomotor nerve increased to 8.0 ± 1.7 mm after TcA (p = 0.001), and to 10.4 ± 2.4 mm after UnR (p = 0.002).CONCLUSIONSThe OTT is an anatomical window that provides generous access to the upper ventrolateral pontomesencephalic area, s1- and s2-SCA, and P2A-PCA. This window may be efficiently used to address various pathologies in the region and is considerably expandable by TcA and/or UnR.

Abstract:
AbstractDifferences in height-diameter (H-DBH) relationship were investigated using the Chapman-Richards function among jack pine seedlots planted in a realized genetic gain test in New Brunswick. Three seedlots representing the bulk mixed cone collection from the 1979 J.D. Irving’s first-generation seedling seed orchard (JDISSO) before rogueing (UNR), after the first time genetic rogueing (1STR) and after the second time genetic rogueing (2NDR), respectively, were planted in the test. Unimproved commercial seedlots (UC) were also included for comparison. Results indicate that an overall H-DBH relationship for all the seedlots was not appropriate. Seedlot pairwise comparisons in H-DBH relationships showed that, whereas most seedlot pairs were significantly different from each other, there was no significant difference between the UNR and UC and between the 1STR and 2NDR. Two models were developed with one targeting the UNR and UC (UNIMPROVED) and the other targeting the 1STR and 2NDR (IMPROVED). The difference between the UNIMPROVED and IMPROVED models was caused only by asymptote of the Chapman-Richards function. Applying the UNIMPROVED or IMPROVED model to predict height of the 1STR and 2NDR or the UNR and UC would result in an under-estimated or an over-estimated bias by 2 to 3% in height. In light of this study, seedlot differences in H-DBH relationships should be integrated into growth and yield models by a multiplier for height depending on genetic improvement levels.

Banerjee, Madhumita. "An Exploratory Study of Online Equity: Differential Levels of Technological Access and Technological Efficacy Among Underserved and Underrepresented Student Populations in Higher Education." Abstract:
Aim/Purpose: This study aims to explore levels of Technological Access (ownership, access to, and usage of computer devices as well as access to Internet services) and levels of Technological Efficacy (technology related skills) as they pertain to underserved (UNS) and underrepresented (UNR) students. Background: There exists a positive correlation between technology related access, technology related competence, and academic outcomes. An increasing emphasis on expanding online education at the author’s institution, consistent with nationwide trends, means that it is unlikely that just an increase in online offerings alone will result in an improvement in the educational attainment of students, especially if such students lack access to technology and the technology related skills needed to take advantage of online learning. Most studies on levels of Technological Access and Technological Efficacy have dealt with either K-12 or minority populations with limited research on UNS and UNR populations who form the majority of students at the author’s institution. Methodology: This study used a cross-sectional survey research design to investigate the research questions. A web survey was sent to all students at the university except first semester new and first semester transfer students from various disciplines (n = 535). Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the survey data. Contribution: This research provides insight on a population (UNS and UNR) that is expanding in higher education. However, there is limited information related to levels of Technological Access and Technological Efficacy for this group. This paper is timely and relevant as adequate access to technology and technological competence is critical for success in the expanding field of online learning, and the research findings can be used to guide and inform subsequent actions vital to bridging any educational equity gap that might exist. Findings: A critical subset of the sample who were first generation, low income, and non-White (FGLINW) had significantly lower levels of Technological Access. In addition, nearly half of the survey sample used smartphones to access online courses. Technological Efficacy scores were significantly lower for students who dropped out of or never enrolled in an online course. Transfer students had significantly higher Technological Efficacy scores while independent students (determined by tax status for federal financial aid purposes) reflected higher Technological Efficacy, but at a marginally lower level of significance. Recommendations for Practitioners: Higher education administrators and educators should take into consideration the gaps in technology related access and skills to devise institutional interventions as well as formulate pedagogical approaches that account for such gaps in educational equity. This will help ensure pathways to sustained student success given the rapidly growing landscape of online education. Recommendation for Researchers: Similar studies need to be conducted in other institutions serving UNS and UNR students in order to bolster findings and increase awareness. Impact on Society: The digital divide with respect to Technological Access and Technological Efficacy that impacts UNS and UNR student populations must be addressed to better prepare such groups for both academic and subsequent professional success. Addressing such gaps will not only help disadvantaged students maximize their educational opportunities but will also prepare them to navigate the challenges of an increasingly technology driven society. Future Research: Given that it is more challenging to write papers and complete projects using a smartphone, is there a homework gap for UNS and UNR students that may impact their academic success? What is the impact of differing levels of Technological Efficacy on specific academic outcomes of UNS and UNR students?

Abstract:
Abstract Abstract 2390 Burkitt lymphoma (BL) is an aggressive B cell lymphoma primarily affecting children and young adults and is characterized by the highest doubling time of any tumor. Cyclical intensive chemotherapy and rituximab confer high complete remission (CR) rates and 80% long term disease free survival in chemotherapy sensitive disease. The role of autologous (autoHCT) or allogeneic (alloHCT) transplant is not well described in BL. We report the outcomes of 241 recipients of HCT for BL between 1985 and 2007 reported to the CIBMTR. Five patients (pts) received syngeneic twin grafts in addition to autoHCT in 113 pts, HLA identical sibling alloHCT (SIB) in 80 pts and mismatched related or unrelated donor (UNR/MM) alloHCT in 48 pts. Baseline patient and disease related risk factors varied significantly between cohorts (table1). The autoHCT cohort had a higher proportion of pts with chemotherapy sensitive disease (86%), peripheral blood grafts (73%) and HCT in first CR (42%). In the UNR/MM cohort, 25% pts were chemotherapy resistant and only 6% were in CR1. The use of autoHCT has declined in recent years with the majority (81%) performed before 2001. Conditioning regimen for alloHCT was myeloablative in 88% (86% and 92% in SIB and UNR/MM respectively). Treatment related mortality (TRM) was higher in alloHCT recipients (table1). Cumulative incidence of relapse/progression at 5 yrs (95% CI) was 44 (35-53)% for autoHCT, 42(31-53)% for SIB and 48 (34-62)% for UNR/MM. For autoHCT, 5-yr progression free survival (PFS) was 48(39-58)%, 78% for those in first CR versus 27% for disease beyond CR1 (p<0.001). For alloHCT, 5-yr PFS was 50% for those in first CR versus 19% for disease beyond CR1 (p=0.001) (figure 1). 5-yr PFS was 30 (20-41)% for SIB and 22 (12-35)% for UNR/MM. Progressive BL was the commonest cause of death. Conclusion: While autoHCT and alloHCT are both feasible in patients with BL, the use of autoHCT appears to be declining in recent years concomitant with the advent of modern chemotherapy. AlloHCT was performed in those with considerably higher risk disease. Approximately one fifth of advanced BL pts receiving alloHCT beyond CR1 had long term disease free survival. Disclosures: No relevant conflicts of interest to declare.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to study the issues related to the unexplored period of formation of the Ukrainian national radio broadcasting. It is about the proclamation and foundation of the Ukrainian People's Republic (UNR)1917–1921; to prove that radiotelegraph content serves as a prototype of modern public radio broadcasting in Ukraine. The research methodology involved the use of methods belonging to two groups: scientific and practical methods –method of studying archival materials, observation and description; scientifiс theoretical methods –formalization, axiomatization, analysis and synthesis, analogy. One of the first steps of the UNR government was creation of the Ministry of Posts and Telegraphs, which was engaged in the production of radiotelegraph content. It allowed for effective internal and external communication of the UNR government. The main form of content was numerous orders, orders, speeches, appeals, explanatory notes, which we consider a prototype of primary information messages.Results. One of the first steps of the UNR government was creation of the Ministry of Posts and Telegraphs, which was engaged in the production of radiotelegraph content. It allowed for effective internal and external communication of the UNR government. The main form of content was numerous orders, orders, speeches, appeals, explanatory notes, which we consider the primary information messages.Given the high social significance of radiotelegraph content, its extreme relevance in a controversial historical era, prompt delivery to the audience, a balanced approach to information, there is every reason to believe that radiotelegraph communication is a precursor to modern public radio broadcasting in Ukraine.Conclusions. Radiotelegraphic content of the Ukrainian People's Republic of the period 1917–1921 became the first information product of the young country's activity. Thanks to the production of this content, the first steps in providing it have been taken domestic and foreign institutions, communities with reliable, comprehensive information about the turbulent events of the First World War and the postwar years. Dissemination of important socio-political information by radiotelegraph and radio communication was considered a strategic task of the state. Having passed a long and painful way of its formation, the radiotelegraphic content of the period of the Ukrainian People's Republic of 1917–1921 later managed to produce purely radio methods and techniques of presenting information, which could not but affect the quality and effectiveness of providing the community with important and necessary socially significant information, which is the basis for the development of public broadcasting in Ukraine. Key words: radiotelegraph, radiocommunication, radiotelegraphic content, information message, public radio broadcasting.

Abstract:
The study considers the issue of saving the tradition of Ukrainian statehood in emigration, which is essential and challenging in modern historiography. It is noted that the contribution of individuals to the organization of emigrant life, preservation of national culture and identity remains poorly investigated, despite the considerable interest of researchers in its institutional level – the activities of Ukrainian political, public and cultural organizations and societies. At the personal level, on the example of Volodymyr Salskyi, the contribution to the cause of the organization of Ukrainian military emigrants' life was investigated. The basic directions of V. Salskyi's activity regarding preserving the wholeness, structure and combat capability of the UNR's Army, improving the material and living conditions of the former military, increasing their educational level, professional skills (through the organization of various military training courses and training of former UNR officers), as well as supporting the patriotic spirit were analyzed. The strategy and practical steps of V. Salskyi as the Minister of Military Affairs in exile for providing activities of emigrant political and public structures in various foreign centers such as Poland, Czechoslovakia, France, and Bulgaria are presented. In particular, the focus is on personnel policy, the creation of a human intelligence network that not only carried out intelligence assessment in the region but also tried to consolidate Ukrainians, organized their national and cultural life in new places. Abstract:
313 Background: Previous data suggested that LDH serum levels may be associated with tumour hypoxia and VEGFA and VEGFR-1 over-expression. LDH may then represent an indirect marker of activated tumour neo-angiogenesis and worse prognosis in many tumour types. In our analysis, we analyzed the role of LDH serum levels in predicting clinical outcome for biliary tract cancer patients treated with first-line cisplatin and gemcitabine chemotherapy, to individuate a potentially reliable and easy to use marker for patients stratification. Methods: 71 advanced biliary tract cancer patients treated with cisplatin and gemcitabine in first-line chemotherapy were available for our analysis. For all patients, LDH values were collected within one month before treatment beginning. We chose the laboratory cut-off (Upper Normal Rate, UNR) as LDH cut-off value (450 U/l) and then we divided the patients into two groups (A and B, below and above the UNR respectively). Survival distribution was estimated by the Kaplan-Meier method. Disease control rate (DCR) was assessed with chi-square test. A significant level of 0.05 was chosen to assess the statistical significance. Results: Patients in group A (46 patients) and B (25 patients) proved homogeneous for all clinical characteristics analyzed. Median progression free survival (PFS) was 3.97 months and 1.8 months respectively in group A (patients with LDH level below the UNR) and in group B (patients with LDH level above the UNR), p=0.0064 (HR=2.07, 95%CI: 1.07-3.99). Median overall survival (OS) was 9.24 months and 2.55 months in group A and B respectively, p<0.0001 (HR=2.93; 95%CI: 1.37-6.27). DCR was 65% in group A vs. 21% in group B (p=0.004). Conclusions: Our observations seem to suggest a prognostic role of LDH in biliary tract cancer patients. Our findings showing an improved PFS and DCR in patients with low LDH serum levels also suggest a possible predictive role in patients treated with a cisplatin and gemcitabine regimen as first-line chemotherapy. After further confirmation in larger trial, these results may be relevant for a better patients stratification and selection.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Disaster multi-robot has a significant role in a disaster area to do many tasks like detection of fire, search and rescue of victims, etc. It needs to build good communication between the operator and multi-robot and among multi-robot themselves to perform their tasks quickly and efficiently. This relates with the queue message protocol system. In this research, we implemented the queue message protocol on mesh topology and integrated it on the robot platform. Recently, development of IoT (Internet of Things) Technology causes development of communication protocol. MQTT and CoAP are among the communication protocols used for IoT needs. Both protocols performance were compared when  used and implemented into disaster multi-robot. We also integrated MQTT protocol and robot platform python based (UNR-PF). The result shows that MQTT protocol is easier to be implemented on to disaster multi-robot platform (UNR-PF) on mesh topology than CoAP, and that data transfer rate of MQTT protocol has data transfer rate higher than CoAP.

Abstract:
In January 1919, the Paris Peace Conference began for the establishment of the world post-war order and solution of territorial conflicts and new national borders. Ukrainians, having proclaimed an independent state, hoped for the legal recognition. The negative attitude of the Entente states to Ukraine aggravated this situation, as well as the retreat of the UNR and ZUNR armies under the pressure of Bolshevik on the east and Polish troops on the west, that were not allies. These states wanted to establish their political domination on the Ukrainian lands. The necessity of the international recognition of the Ukrainian state had required the leadership of the UNR and ZUNR to pursue a common foreign policy. The Ukrainian delegation arrived in Paris very late and without an official invitation. The author determined that united Ukraine was represented by diplomats of different political orientations whose professional background did not suit the level of the tasks of the Peace Conference. A large number of members of the delegation have complicated the situation of Ukrainians at the conference because of different political and ideological positions. The case of Western Ukraine was on the agenda almost all the time, and united Ukraine was mentioned only sporadically. Therefore, the Galicians, hoping for the implementation of the principles of the Woodrow Wilson points, tried to act separately from the joint Ukrainian delegation. They issued their own papers and appeals, which often contradicted the statements of the joint Ukrainian mission. Eventually, the internal confrontation led to a split of the joint Ukrainian delegation, and in December 1919, Galician representatives Vasyl Paneiko and Stepan Tomashivsky dismissed from the joint delegation. As a result, the delegation did not fulfill the task: The Entente had never recognized the sovereignty of the Ukrainian People’s Republic. The pessimistic attitude towards the Ukrainians of the Entente states, the domestic split of the Parisian delegation, and the inability to clearly represent “the Ukrainian issue” did not bring the success. Despite this, Ukrainians denied part of Entente’s stereotypes and were able to outline some issues, especially concerning Eastern Galicia. Keywords Paris Peace Conference, Ukrainian People's Republic, West Ukrainian People's Republic, Eastern Galicia, diplomacy.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
The genesis of rights and freedoms in the history of Ukrainian state-building is closely linked to the activities of Ukrainian political parties and their leaders. Today, in the face of the global economic crisis and the coronavirus epidemic, the concept of human and citizen rights and freedoms is subject to skepticism and criticism. Reassessing the experiences of previous generations can help find ways to overcome a crisis. The concept of the human rights of the UPSR can be characterized as a collectivist, which, in accordance with the idea of prioritizing the interests of the dominant class of workers over the interests of the individual, significantly limited the political and economic rights and freedoms of a large part of the population. At the same time, the concept contained, at the time, quite advanced provisions on equal rights between men and women and national minorities, the provision of equal suffrage, the right to free education and the use of cultural and economic institutions, etc. The concept did not contain a clear division of human rights and citizens into their types. In particular, some economic, social and cultural rights were included in the list of political rights. A significant influence on the formation of the list of rights and freedoms and their content was made by the model of the future socialist Ukrainian state M. Hrushevsky, who was in fact the ideological inspirer of the leadership of the UPSR throughout the party's existence. The basic principles of the concept of human rights of the UPSR were reflected in the Constitution of the UNR in 1918. Keywords: Ukrainian Party of Revolutionary Socialists, Human Rights and Freedoms, M. Hrushevsky, Ukrainian National Republic (UNR), Constitution of the UNR in 1918.
