Abstract:
S-Adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) participates in a wide range of methylation and other group-transfer reactions and also serves as the precursor for two groups of quorum-sensing molecules that function as regulators of the production of virulence factors in Gram-negative bacteria. The synthesis of AdoMet is catalyzed by AdoMet synthetases (MATs), a ubiquitous family of enzymes found in species ranging from microorganisms to mammals. The AdoMet synthetase from the bacteriumCampylobacter jejuni(cjMAT) is an outlier among this homologous enzyme family, with lower sequence identity, numerous insertions and substitutions, and higher catalytic activity compared with other bacterial MATs. Alterations in the structure of this enzyme provide an explanation for its unusual dimeric quaternary structure relative to the other MATs. Taken together with several active-site substitutions, this new structure provides insights into its improved kinetic properties with alternative substrates.

Abstract:
This study examines the empirical relationship between unusual trading volume and earnings surprises in China’s A-share market. We provide evidence that an unusually low trading volume can signify negative information about firm fundamentals. Moreover, unusual trading volumes could predict abnormal returns close to the earnings announcement date. The degree of, and changes in, divergence of opinion could explain this result. Our study provides an insight into China’s market, where short sales are strictly forbidden. We report a strong relationship that is quite different from that described in most studies on the United States market.

Abstract:
Mucoceles of the paranasal sinuses are benign expansive cystic lesions, originated from the obstruction of the nasal drainage, have mucous or mucopurulent secretions and are covered by respiratory epithelium. Its development is insidious, generally unilateral and has a higher incidence between the third and fourth decades of life, with no gender predilection. Objective: To present a rare case of mucocele in the maxillary sinus, addressing the methods used in diagnosis and treatment. Final comments: The clinical evaluation associated with imaging tests suggest the diagnosis of mucoceles and the definitive treatment must be surgical.

A new species of Scirtothrips Shull from leaves of Tamarix sp. is described and illustrated from southern Iran. Among Scirtothrips species, it is unusual in having two pairs of long pronotal posteroangular setae, and ocellar setae III unusually long. A key is provided to distinguish members of the Scirtothrips genus-group in Iran: Drepanothrips reuteri Uzel, Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood, S. hafezi sp. n. and S. mangiferae Priesner.

Luke, David John. "MULTIRACIAL CHURCHES: AN UNUSUAL ARRANGEMENT." UKnowledge, 2012. http://uknowledge.uky.edu/sociology_etds/5.

Full text
Abstract:
It is commonly said that 11:00 A.M. Sunday morning is the most segregated hour in America. The contact theory explains how interracial contact can help to ameliorate racism - and this type of interaction can easily be fostered in a church environment. Durkheim's idea of the "collective effervescence" felt in ritual experiences would be beneficial for crossing racial lines and improving race relations in the U.S. in multiracial churches. A great deal of recent sociological work has focused on the phenomenon of church segregation on a nationwide scale. This paper compares characteristics found in nationwide religious congregation surveys and case studies to the 2007 Kent County Congregations Survey to identify particularities in the Kent County region and scrutinize the previously identified characteristics and developing theories on multiracial congregations. In Kent County, the common characteristics of multiracial churches are being in an urban location (as opposed to a suburban or rural location), and having a higher percentage of theologically liberal members (for congregations less than 20 years old). Implications and suggestions for further research follow.

But comprehensive draft view of solue problems is missing. This thesis has next basic objectives: Carry out value historical development of coexistence man and animals, constructions of ZOO gardens and today’s condition. a) apply systematical categorization of ZOO buildings with accent for complex expositions of ecosystems pavilions. b) analyse basic today’s principles of design ZOO buildings with a view to pavilions of ecosystems. c) produce comprehensive document like data for architectural practice and for education of new architect – specialist. This paper will serve for education too. That is why presentation of describe principles on the real example from own practice and on the school designs from my classes is attach. The basic task, which follow from objective of the thesis, is definition of principles for design of ecosystems pavilions, like top representative of ZOO exposition buildings. It is definition of basic character, description of general and specific principles above all.

Appendix inside back cover. "June 2002" Bibliography: leaves 157-168. Experimental and theoretical studies were carried out on a number of unusual organic molecules of potential astronomical significance. The experimental work was corroborated by various theoretical approaches and by utilising computer-based quantum chemical calculations. Various covalently bound, anionic and neutral oxocarbon species were formed and studied. Additionally, two analogous heterocumulenic systems were investigated. Some isomers of either system, when energised, were shown to undergo gas-phase rearrangement processes.

Full text
Abstract:
Wall thinning at unusually high rates (0.5∼1 mm y−1) due to FAC (flow accelerated corrosion) may sometimes occur on the walls of carbon steel piping which transports pure, high-temperature water. FAC generally tends to occur in locations where the solution temperature is 140∼150°C, downstream of pipe fittings and flow-meters. It arises quite accidentally: sometimes occurs and sometimes does not in spite of related parameters such as flow velocity and temperature being identical. In addition, the damage may be drastically reduced, when the material of the pipe tube in which unusual wall thinning had occurred is exchanged with low alloyed steel. The macro-cell corrosion mechanism, which is the principle mechanism for galvanic corrosion as well as for cathodic protection with a sacrificial anode, was modified by taking laboratory test results into consideration, and applied to incident cases to successfully explain the generation mechanism of this unusual pipe wall thinning. It explains the characteristic behavior of FAC described above and the anticorrosive effect of chromium. It was concluded that the unusual wall thinning of carbon steel pipe may be attributed to the formation an active/passive macro-cell on the surface. An active/passive macro-cell occurs due to gaps in the distribution of such passivation affecting parameters as the pipe wall temperature and the dissolved oxygen content, so that the basis of prevention amounts to avoidance to these gaps. Thus, it is recommended that stagnation watershed and localized lowering of temperature should be avoided with pipe lines.
