The authors posit that the traditional grading system involving points and percentages is not the best way to prepare students to be the self-directed, independent learners they need to be. A better system would produce grades that are FAST (fair, accurate, specific, timely). To bring about these changes, school leaders need not create full agreement about new models but should, instead, create circumstances that make action more likely.

Researchers across two universities and three different mathematics education courses implemented their vision of a novel grading approach called (Up)grading. (Up)grading shifts the focus of assessment from grades to growth. Key features of implementing (Up)grading included (a) providing students with opportunities to reflect upon and grow from their learning experiences, and (b) giving them a voice in determining their course grade. The findings suggest that most students perceived (Up)grading as a positive experience in their learning and as an assessment approach. The features of (Up)gradin

Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is commonly caused by rupture of an intracranial aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation, or due to trauma. Prompt diagnosis and intervention are required to control intracranial pressure, maintain cerebral perfusion, and prevent rebleeding. Clinical grading of the bleed predicts morbidity and mortality, whereas imaging grading predicts risk of cerebral vasospasm. Hydrocephalus can occur as a result of SAH, which requires treatment with an external ventricular drain. Endovascular and open microsurgical procedures are available for securing the vascular abnormalities.

While technology to manage student and educator data, authentication, and grading exist in the forms of LMSs, extending these to online multiplayer games and virtual reality environments is lacking.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents our preliminary findings on the influence of graded porosity on the momentum exchange and heat transfer in a composite porous fluid system, utilizing pore-scale large eddy simulation. We examine two composite porous-fluid systems with identical overall porosity (Φ_Global) of 50%, differing only in local porosity (Φ_Local) configurations — bottom-up grading (20% to 80%) and top-down grading (80% to 20%). Through flow visualization, we observe fluid leakage from porous to non-porous regions across the porous-fluid interface in both cases. Graded porosity proves effec

Abstract:
With the global increase in the use of traditional and complementary remedies for the prevention and treatment of illness, the quality and safety of these medicines have become a significant concern for all regulatory authorities. Herbal medicines are the most commonly used form of traditional and complementary medicines in the world and the efficacy and safety of herbal medicines, like conventional medicines, largely depends on their quality from planting to harvesting, preprocessing and final processing. Due to the inherent complexity of herbal medicines, often containing an array of active

Abstract:
Fiscal policy in Latin America has been historically imprudent and continues to be viewed with skepticism. At the same time, most countries have remained out of trouble for several years and were able to successfully conduct proactive countercyclical fiscal policy to fight the Great Recession, a historical first. This paper examines the last decade to assess progress, highlight weaknesses, and chart the way forward. The paper looks at structural fiscal balances, filtering out the business cycle and commodity price fluctuations to assess prudent fiscal policy concerning cyclical management and

The objectives of this project were to develop nondestructive methods for detection of internal properties and firmness of fruits and vegetables. One method was based on a soft piezoelectric film transducer developed in the Technion, for analysis of fruit response to low-energy excitation. The second method was a dot-matrix piezoelectric transducer of North Carolina State University, developed for contact-pressure analysis of fruit during impact. Two research teams, one in Israel and the other in North Carolina, coordinated their research effort according to the specific objectives of the proj
