Abstract:
Stochastic differential inclusions can be considered as a generalisation of stochastic differential equations. In particular a multivalued mapping describes the set of equations, in which a solution has to be found. This paper presents an existence result for a special parabolic stochastic inclusion. The proof is based on the method of upper and lower solutions. In the deterministic case this method was effectively introduced by S. Carl.

The Boundary value problems on bounded or unbounded intervals, involving two or more coupled systems of the nonlinear differen- tial equations with full nonlinearities are scarce and have gap in literature. The relative scarcity of results that guarantee the existence of solutions for BVP on unbounded domains, contrasts with the high applicability on real problems of differential equations defined on the half-line or on the whole real line. Different types of boundary conditions will be discussed herein, for example, Sturm- Liouville, homoclinic, Lidstone and functional conditions. The non-compactness of the time interval and the p

A fundamental issue in many distributed computing problems is the need for nodes to distinguish themselves from their neighbors in a process referred to as symmetry breaking. Many well-known problems such as Maximal Independent Set (MIS), t-Ruling Set, Maximal Matching, and (\Delta+1)-Coloring, belong to the class of problems that require symmetry breaking. These problems have been studied extensively in the LOCAL model, which assumes arbitrarily large message sizes, but not as much in the CONGEST and k-machine models, which assume messages of size O(log n) bits. Lie algebra multipliers and their properties is a recent area of study. A multiplier is the Lie algebra analogue of the Schur multiplier from group theory. By definition a multiplier is central, so we only need to find its dimension in order to characterize it. We will investigate how to find the dimensions of the multipliers for the lower central series of strictly upper triangular matrices. The closed form result is a set of six polynomial answers in two variables: the size of the matrix and the position in the series.

A separation between the frequencies assigned to transmitters close to each other is required to avoid interference. The subject of this thesis is the fixed spectrum frequency assignment problem, where the spectrum available is given and the target is to minimize the total interference o

The question of how to optimally control a large scale system is widely considered to be difficult to solve due to the size of the problem. This difficulty is further compounded when a system exhibits a two time-scale structure where some components evolve slowly and others evolve quickly. When this occurs, the optimal control problem is regarded as singularly perturbed with a perturbation parameter epsilon representing the ratio of the slow time-scale to the fast time-scale. As epsilon goes to zero, the system becomes stiff resulting in a computationally intractable problem. In this thesis, w
