Full textThe aim for this report is to propose potential strategies in order to develop more modern and attractive subway stations in the near future. The design of future subway stations in Stockholm requires a number of factors to be taken into account. Some of these factors are already under study in the Design program for the metro line to Nacka – which is the starting point for the present final report – while others must be gradually introduced when aiming for smarter solutions in the future. How does a group of professional experts experience Stockholm's subway stations today? What, according to these experts, are the prevailing conditions that limit the attractiveness of these stations and, if so, what measures can promote this attractiveness in the future? How can ICT solutions be integrated into the design of modern and attractive subway stations for Stockholm in the near future? These are the essential questions to be answered by this report, using a literature survey and eleven semi-structured interviews. The collection of studied material along with the analysis of the results led to the following statement: in order to achieve attractive and modern subway, a presumptive design program should include all the concepts studied in the report – i.e. attractiveness, durability, sustainability, security, and accessibility –, but not as standalone elements, but as interconnected components of a holistic perspective. The underground system in Stockholm should ensure a range of measures in the short and medium term. These measures will in turn be the basis of the quality leap required for the city to take advantage of attractive metro stations in the long run. The proposed should bring forth both practical suggestions, but also potential solutions for architects and planners; increase the perception of future subway stations as attractive and modern as well as benefit a high level of experience value in the metro station environment. However, there is much work that remains and that will require a more detailed analysis in the future, especially as regards the applicability of the proposed actions as well as other solutions that may emerge during the course of future studies. The current report should therefore serve as background material and inspiration for this ongoing work.

Full textNowadays the planning in the buildings is strongly controlled by authorities, designed by architects and built by construction companies. Newly built dwellings are often considered as very similar. Open planning, parquetted flooring by oak and white walls are common words in description of todays’ dwellings. The priorities of the construction companies are to create functional space-efficient apartments and strive for cost-efficiency in the production. The use of prefabricated building parts and standardized modules contribute to a shortened building process. When comparing newly built dwelling with older dwellings from the beginning of the 20th century a great difference in materials and details can be found. The purpose has been to determinate whether the Swedish production is similar and unsatisfying. To determine if these theses are true, a number of construction companies located in Stockholm where contacted and interviewed. In the research a few real estate agents and other representatives from the industry participated to contribute with their own opinions and perspectives. A study of the building companies dwellings were examined during showings and evaluated by the different qualities described in the book Bostadens omätbara värden, by Ola Nylander and Kjell Forshed. These qualities describe both subjective perceptions and technical aspects which are supposed to contribute to a “good housing”. The research has been limited to co-operative apartments in tenement building in the area around Stockholm. 80% of the interviewed agreed with the thesis that the Swedish production is undiversified and unsatisfying. Even if the companies would have received financial founding, they would not choose to give priority to the qualities that would improve the character and the individuality in the dwellings. The showings proved a lack of these qualities in most dwellings but also that some construction companies were distinguished from the others with their production. Hopes are that this composition will draw attention to the absence of the qualities regarding the experience of the dwellings and inspire to a greater variation and diversity in the otherwise similar production.

Full textBachelor thesis, Interior design and visual merchandising at School of business and economic Kalmar, Linnaeus university. 2FE77E. Spring of 2019. The entry of phygital by Emma Albertsson, Fanny Wallin och Mikaela Westerlund Background: The Swedish trade market began from wandering itinerant out on the countryside to stores where customers could pick the goods by themselves, this was the beginning of the development into becoming the retail industry which is still ongoing today. The companies had to make changes to go from multi-channels to omni-channels. And omni-channels led to new development called phygital, where the physical channels are intertwined with the digital channels to become one. This is what this thesis is aiming to study. Reserarch question & Purpose: The research question of the study is: How do consulting-firms, online stores and physical stores work in the clothing business with phygital? The purpose of the study is to gain an increased understanding of how the various companies in the clothing business are using phygital. This is to contribute with knowledge of what phygital stands for, as well as which similarities and differences exist between the companies. Method: This study involves a qualitative method with a hermeneutic approach, through a deductive approach with inductive elements. The collection of empirical data has been carried out through semi-structured interviews with representatives from three consulting-firms, one online store and one physical store. Conclusion: The conclusion of the study shows that the digitization is constantly evolving which makes the digitalisation hard to surpass. The physical store becomes affected by the development of the digitization because it enables the physical stores to become smaller while still being able to offer the entire range of the companies supply. Thus, the digital channel do not become a competitor to the physical channels, but a complement to each other as they fill out the absences of each other. In the future it will evolve and change for the fygital channels to interact in the best way possible.
