The Fairfield Municipality , a segment of Sydney’s rural-urban fringe, has been characterise d by its dynamic but variable response to the city’s expansion. Proximity to the city and topographic suitability to low cost urbanisation resulted in increasing speculation over the timing of urban invasion of rural land.
