275 Background: Signet-ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) of the urinary bladder is a rare entity. Recent case series of the condition showed inconsistent results. We used a population-based data set to compare the cancer specific survival of patients with signet-ring cell carcinoma vs. transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) of the urinary bladder. Methods: Signet-ring cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder and transitional carcinoma of the urinary bladder were identified in the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results program (2001 to 2004). Abstract:
Abstract Microcystic transitional cell carcinoma is a rare variant of urothelial carcinoma; to date, it has been described only in the urinary bladder. We report 2 cases of microcystic transitional cell carcinoma arising in the renal pelvis. The first case occurred in a 73-year-old man with a history of superficially invasive transitional cell carcinoma who presented with macroscopic hematuria and anemia. The second case occurred in a 62-year-old woman who had no relevant medical history and presented with hematuria. Computed tomographic scan revealed a tumor of the renal pelvis. In both cases

Small cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder (SCCB) is an extremely rare but aggressive tumour constituting less than 0.7% of all urinary bladder tumours. A 58-year-old man who had presented with haematuria and burning micturition for 3 months was initially diagnosed as high-grade muscle-invasive urothelial carcinoma based on the TURBT specimen. It has a significant morphologic overlap with other vesical and non-vesical myxoid neoplasms, including extra-skeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma and chordoma, which necessitate an extensive workup to reach an accurate diagnosis. Abstract:
— The incidence of upper urinary tract transitional cell carcinoma (UTTCC) following a bladder cancer has been studied in 1731 urothelial tumours from 1984 to 1995. The UTTCC were 88: 59 primitive, 6 synchronous and 23 metachronous after a bladder cancer (1672). Of the 23 metachronous UTTCC, 17 followed TURBT (17/1310 = 1.3%): the latency period was very long (64.8 months); grading and staging were mostly similar to the foregoing bladder tumours. A vesicoureteral reflux raised the metachronous UTTCC rate to 17.6%. A neoplastic distal ureter was found during radical cystectomy in 2.24%. During
