The period between the 19th – early 20th century witnessed waves of actively forming Polish communities in Russia’s rural areas. A major factor that contributed to the process was the repressive policy by the Russian Empire towards those involved in the Polish national liberation and revolutionary movement. Previous deformation experiments on halite have collectively explored different creep mechanisms, including dislocation creep and pressure solution. Here, we use an alternative to conventional uniaxial or triaxial deformation experiments—nanoindentation tests—to measure the hardness and creep behavior of single crystals of halite at room temperature. AbstractGraphical tools for firefighters in emergency interventions have been proven to be very effective. Particularly, paper-based operational guides and digital guides with 360º images were already assessed during the drills developed, during a training program in a real, but obsolete and not in use, hotel. The obtained results were considered very interesting, being part of the study previously published by this research team. In the previous study, three different methods (two of them based on graphical contents) were compared in order to communicate the features of a building to firefighters, five minutes before starting a victim rescue during the drills of the mentioned live fire training program. These good results encouraged us to continue the development of the digital guides and this paper describes the first one created for a real building, placed in Zaragoza (Spain), which is in use nowadays. In this study, two versions of the digital guide are presented, one based on a PDF file and another one implemented with online 360º images.

As track geometry degrades, and in particular as track surface and cross-level (as defined by a Track Quality Index or TQI) degrades, railway vehicles going over that degraded track experience increased vertical dynamic behavior and increased vehicle/track interaction. According to the current ASME Code Section XI, IWB-3640 and Appendix C flaw evaluation procedure, cast austenitic stainless steel (CASS) piping with ferrite content less than 20% is treated as wrought stainless steel. For CASS piping with ferrite content equal or greater than 20%, there is currently no flaw evaluation procedure in the ASME Code. Two LM2500 rainbow rotors with repaired stage 1 and stage 2 high pressure turbine blades are being assembled for marine propulsion service evaluation by the US Navy. The blades have seen between 5,000 and 15,000 hours of service in the Navy’s Fleets. An experimental study was conducted to investigate low Reynolds number effects on open channel flow over a transverse square rib. Particle image velocimetry technique was used to perform detailed velocity measurement in the upstream and recirculation region of a square rib of height, h = 12 mm. The Reynolds number based on the freestream velocity and rib height, Reh = 1510, 2650 and 3950 and the ratio of the boundary layer thickness to step height, δ/h = 2.5 ± 0.2. The results showed that the reattachment length of Reh = 2650 and 3950 increased by 5.7% compared with corresponding value of Reh

This paper presents an overview of added features in a new version of the FAVOR (Fracture Analysis of Vessels Oak Ridge) computer code called FAVOR-OCI.
