Abstract: The Internet transport layer protocols, TCP and UDP, do not provide efficient transport service for multimedia streams. UDP is usually used for these applications, due to its low overhead. A new transport layer protocol, called DCCP, was proposed to meet the demand of multimedia applications, aiming at replacing the UDP protocol. This dissertation will propose a variant for this protocol, called Fast DCCP, for operating efficiently on high-speed networks. It was evaluated by simulation using the NS-2 network simulator and measurements of the FAST DCCP protocol operation in the Linux operating system

Full textNew versions of SCTP protocol allow the implementation of handover procedures in the transport layer, as well as the supply of a partially reliable communication service. A communication architecture is proposed herein, integrating SCTP with the session initiation protocol, SIP, besides additional protocols. This architecture is intended to handle voice applications over IP networks with mobility requirements. User localization procedures are specified in the application layer as well, using SIP, as an alternative mean to the mechanisms used by traditional protocols, that support mobility in the network layer. The SDL formal specification language is used to specify the operation of a control module, which coordinates the operation of the system component protocols. This formal specification is intended to prevent ambiguities and inconsistencies in the definition of this module, assisting in the correct implementation of the elements of this architecture

The use of the scientific method through the Process of Nursing contributes for the consolidation of the profession while science of the care. This study describes a collective construction of the Lapsing of Nursing Data Information (PEI), since the creation of the protocols of interventions until the implantation and evaluation of the proposal and has as objective collectively to construct a methodologic instrument for the work, from the knowledge of the reality and the interaction of the individuals. It suggests a model simplified to put in working conditions the Process of Nursing (PE), searching in such a way to take care of the necessities of the academy as much as of the hospital institutions, through the theoretician-practical approach and of the attention to the completeness praised for the Only System of Health (SUS). It still tries, to trace a differential between Systematization of the Assistance of Nursing (SAE) and PE, as well as its complementation in the fusing of both inside of the organization of the work. The PE model is based on the theory of Wanda Horta, being consisting of three phases: description, evolution and data information lapsing. The access to the interventions in the data information system happens inside for the choice of the problem of nursing of affected corporal subsystems. The used methodologic boarding is the convergentassistance research with the team of nursing of the UTI of a University Hospital, that inside follows five steps of the construction of the protocols and implantation of the PEI: Knowledge of the reality, with the techniques of systematic comment and documentary research; individual construction of the protocols, with the bibliographical consultation; collective construction with nurses, through the strategy of revision of the protocols; implantation of the data information lapsing, with the technique of participant comment; (re) collective construction in the evaluation, with half-structuralized interviews. As result got 177 interventions in 64 problems of nursing. The interventions had been classified, selecting previsible, excellent, viable, functional and the routines more adjusted to the searched context to insert in the protocols. The study it evidences the viability of the adoption of the PE with the use of the PEI, basic instrument for the cultural valuation of the nursing and organization of the work, being possible of being constructed, when part of the interaction human being for the transformation of the reality.

The growing demand for information and, particularly, the exponential increase in the number of networks connected to the Internet, makes the institutions have to modernize their infrastructures often. The sensitive limitation of available addressing this network contributes to these institutions to study the implementation of the new version of Internet protocol, IPv6. The University of Brasilia, as leading provider of access and information, and trying to keep connected to the largest number of users as possible and high availability, see the need to introduce new solutions in your environment, but because it is a very complex environment and heterogeneous, need to concentre to a deployment model that allows implementation of a transition to IPv6 in a secure manner, gradually and smoothly. In this research work presents a methodology to create an environment of experiments within the REDUnB (Data Network of UNB) for IPv6 implementation, analyzing aspects related to the techniques of transition with performance analysis of these communications. Through this methodology seeks to a basis for a model of migration from the environment of IPv4 to IPv6 in a heterogeneous academic network environment, with concrete prospects of implementation in REDUnB environment.

Abstract: Group scheduling is an essential and continuous activity. Complexities on conciliating schedules of several people make time management a challenge. It involves sophisticated communication mechanisms to support calendar sharing and scheduling negotiation among users of diverse systems, also comprising the need of rescheduling meetings in favor of others. However, there is a lack of solutions to ease the coordination of more complex situations like these. Based on a review of past approaches for this problem and their successes and failures, a new, interdisciplinary approach is presented for group scheduling. The development of calendaring and scheduling protocols is reviewed, as well as the application of promising techniques on the fields of optimization, artificial intelligence and interfaces. Towards a new generation of more intelligent and powerful group scheduling tools that will increase productivity by minimizing coordination efforts, a multidisciplinary application of knowledge from these areas is proposed. Extensions for present scheduling negotiation protocols are described, and the initiatives on the development of iScheduler, a solution that applies the best practices identified on this study, are reported.
