Abstract:
INTRODUCTION: Preserving the dental enamel structure during removal of orthodontic accessories is a clinician's obligation. Hence the search for an evidence based debonding protocol. OBJECTIVE: to evaluate and compare, by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the effects of four different protocols of bracket debonding and subsequent polishing on enamel surface, and to propose a protocol that minimizes damage to enamel surface. METHODS: Twelve bovine permanent incisors were divided into four groups according to the instrument used for debonding and removal of the adhesive remnant. In groups 1 and 2, brackets were debonded with a straight debonding plier (Ormco Corp., Glendora, California, USA), and in groups 3 and 4, debonding was performed with the instrument Lift-Off (3M Unitek, Monrovia, California, USA). In groups 1 and 3, the adhesive remnant was removed using a long adhesive removing plier (Ormco Corp., Glendora, California, USA) and in groups 2 and 4, residual adhesive was removed with a tungsten carbide bur (Beavers Dental) at high-speed. After each stage of debonding and polishing, enamel surfaces were replicated and electron micrographs were obtained with 50 and 200X magnification. RESULTS: All four protocols of debonding and polishing caused enamel irregularities. CONCLUSION: Debonding brackets with straight debonding plier, removal of adhesive remnant with a tungsten carbide bur and polishing with pumice and rubber cup was found to be the protocol that caused less damage to enamel surface, therefore this protocol is suggested for debonding brackets.

Abstract:
AbstractThree states and one county now allow Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers to transport injured law enforcement K9s (LEK9s) as long as no human needs the ambulance at the time. Several other states either have pending legislation or are in discussions about this topic. As additional states ponder these laws, it is likely that the EMS transport of LEK9s will become legal in many states. In the wake of this legislation, a significant void was created. Currently, there are no published protocols for the safe transport of LEK9s by EMS providers. Additionally, the transport destination for these LEK9s is unlikely to be programmed into vehicle Global Positioning Systems. The authors of this report convened a Joint Task Force on Working Dog Care, consisting of veterinarians, EMS directors, EMS physicians, and LEK9 handlers, who met to develop a protocol for LEK9s being transported to a veterinary facility. The protocol covers the logistics of getting the LEK9 into the ambulance (eg, when the handler is or is not available), appropriate restraint, and the importance of prior arrangements with a veterinary emergency facility. A LEK9 hand-off form and a Transport Policy Form are provided, downloadable, and customizable for each EMS provider. This protocol provides essential information on safety and transport logistics for injured LEK9s. The hope is that this protocol will assist EMS providers to streamline the transport of an injured LEK9 to an appropriate veterinary facility.

More and more attention has been paid to filamentous fungal evolution, metabolic pathway and gene functional analysis via genome sequencing. However, the published methods for the extraction of fungal genomic DNA were usually costly or inefficient. In the present study, we compared five different DNA extraction protocols: CTAB protocol with some modifications, benzyl chloride protocol with some modifications, snailase protocol, SDS protocol and extraction with the E.Z.N.A. Fungal DNA Maxi Kit (Omega Bio-Tek, USA). The CTAB method which we established with some modification in several steps is not only economical and convenient, but also can be reliably used to obtain large amounts of highly pure genomic DNA fromMonascus purpureusfor sequencing with next-generation sequencing technologies (Illumina and 454) successfully.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT We introduce a new cryptographic protocol based on the wellknown LearningWith Errors (LWE) problem: a group key transfer protocol which achieves anonymity of the members against each others. This issue is almost absent in the key transfer protocols from the literature but we argue it is a practical property. We motivate our construction by a practical need. We use two essential cryptographic primitives built from LWE: LWE Diffie-Hellman key exchange derived from Regev’s work [Regev, O.: On lattices, learning with errors, random linear codes, and cryptography, in: Proc. of the 37th Annual ACM Symposium on Theory of Computing-STOC ’05 (H. N. Gabow and R. Fagin, eds.), Baltimore, MD, USA, 2005, ACM, New York, 2005, pp. 84-93] and a public key cryptosystem secure under the LWE hardness. We provide a security definition for anonymous key transfer protocol and we achieve anonymity against IND-CPA adversaries.

Abstract:
IntroductionIn recent years, there has been a growing desire to address issues related to menstruation, particularly for adolescent girls. In low-income and middle-income countries, prior literature review of the adolescent menstrual experience suggests the need for further research into the impact and efficacy of interventions with this population. There is evidence to suggest the need for initiatives and research in higher-income countries like the USA. To date, the body of research on adolescent menstrual experience in the USA remains uncharacterised. Therefore, we propose a scoping review of the literature on this subject to better inform on areas for future primary study. Methods and analysesUsing the framework proposed by Arksey and O’Malley and expounded on by Levac et al and the Joanna Briggs Institute, we will search electronic databases (MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Web of Science, ProQuest Public Health Database, Social Science Citation Index, Social Services Abstracts and SocINDEX) and grey literature for relevant studies in consultation with experienced librarians. The abstracts and full-text from each reference will be screened by two independent reviewers for inclusion. Bibliographic data, study characteristics and themes will be extracted from studies selected for inclusion using a rubric created by the research team. Findings will be summarised and a list of subject areas for future primary research will be generated in consultation with stakeholders. The review will be conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items from Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews guidelines.Ethics and disseminationFormal ethics training for this study is not required, as the research team will review publicly available studies. Stakeholders working in adolescent and menstrual health were consulted in designing this review. We will share key findings with stakeholders and in scholarly journals at the conclusion of the review.

Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the relationship between the EU and the USA with an emphasis on the period after the year 2000. The analysis was only possible with knowledge of preceding milestones that have formed the partnership, the thesis- therefore- begins with the period after the Second World War, to which the European Union can trace its roots. The thesis follows the changes in the relationship during the decades of the Cold War (long-term trends) and in the first decade after its end (short-term trends), and then, due to the broadness of the issue, concrete themes from the period after the year 2000. The thesis also examines the relationship in terms of partnership and conflict, and examines the reasons and events behind the motivation on both sides. The first chapter deals with the Europe-USA relationship development since 1945 and is divided into five parts according to post-war decades. The second chapter deals with the Europe (EU)-USA relationship development after the Cold War up to the beginning of the new millennium. The third chapter represents the centerpiece of the thesis- key issues in the transformation of the relationship. The chapter is divided into four subchapters: divergent and shared opinions on the fight against terrorism (Afghanistan, Iraq), divergent and shared opinions in relation to international organisations and treaties (the Kyoto Protocol, the International Criminal Court), divergent and shared opinions on solving the financial crisis. The fourth subchapter examines the transformation and continuity of the relationship after the accession of the Obama administration.

Abstract:
Introduction: Lay use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) before the arrival of emergency medical services (EMS) providers on scene increases survival after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). AEDs have been placed in public locations may be not ready for use when needed. We describe a protocol for AED surveillance that tracks these devices through time and space to improve public health, and survival as well as facilitate research. Methods and analysis: Included AEDs are installed in public locations for use by laypersons to treat patients with OHCA before the arrival of EMS providers on scene. Included cases of OHCA are patients evaluated by organised EMS personnel and treated for OHCA. Enrolment of 10 000 AEDs annually will yield precision of 0.4% in the estimate of readiness for use. Enrolment of 2500 patients annually will yield precision of 1.9% in the estimate of survival to hospital discharge. Recruitment began on 21 Mar 2014 and is ongoing. AEDs are found by using multiple methods. Each AED is then tagged with a label which is a unique two-dimensional (2D) matrix code; the 2D matrix code is recorded and the location and status of the AED tracked using a smartphone; these elements are automatically passed via the internet to a secure and confidential database in real time. Whenever the 2D matrix code is rescanned for any non-clinical or clinical use of an AED, the user is queried to answer a finite set of questions about the device status. The primary outcome of any clinical use of an AED is survival to hospital discharge. Results are summarised descriptively. Ethics and dissemination: These activities are conducted under a grant of authority for public health surveillance from the Food and Drug Administration. Results are provided periodically to participating sites and sponsors to improve public health and quality of care.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract: The Internet transport layer protocols, TCP and UDP, do not provide efficient transport service for multimedia streams. UDP is usually used for these applications, due to its low overhead. A new transport layer protocol, called DCCP, was proposed to meet the demand of multimedia applications, aiming at replacing the UDP protocol. This dissertation will propose a variant for this protocol, called Fast DCCP, for operating efficiently on high-speed networks. It was evaluated by simulation using the NS-2 network simulator and measurements of the FAST DCCP protocol operation in the Linux operating system

New versions of SCTP protocol allow the implementation of handover procedures in the transport layer, as well as the supply of a partially reliable communication service. A communication architecture is proposed herein, integrating SCTP with the session initiation protocol, SIP, besides additional protocols. This architecture is intended to handle voice applications over IP networks with mobility requirements. User localization procedures are specified in the application layer as well, using SIP, as an alternative mean to the mechanisms used by traditional protocols, that support mobility in the network layer. The SDL formal specification language is used to specify the operation of a control module, which coordinates the operation of the system component protocols. This formal specification is intended to prevent ambiguities and inconsistencies in the definition of this module, assisting in the correct implementation of the elements of this architecture
The use of the scientific method through the Process of Nursing contributes for the consolidation of the profession while science of the care. This study describes a collective construction of the Lapsing of Nursing Data Information (PEI), since the creation of the protocols of interventions until the implantation and evaluation of the proposal and has as objective collectively to construct a methodologic instrument for the work, from the knowledge of the reality and the interaction of the individuals. It suggests a model simplified to put in working conditions the Process of Nursing (PE), searching in such a way to take care of the necessities of the academy as much as of the hospital institutions, through the theoretician-practical approach and of the attention to the completeness praised for the Only System of Health (SUS). It still tries, to trace a differential between Systematization of the Assistance of Nursing (SAE) and PE, as well as its complementation in the fusing of both inside of the organization of the work. The PE model is based on the theory of Wanda Horta, being consisting of three phases: description, evolution and data information lapsing. The access to the interventions in the data information system happens inside for the choice of the problem of nursing of affected corporal subsystems. The used methodologic boarding is the convergentassistance research with the team of nursing of the UTI of a University Hospital, that inside follows five steps of the construction of the protocols and implantation of the PEI: Knowledge of the reality, with the techniques of systematic comment and documentary research; individual construction of the protocols, with the bibliographical consultation; collective construction with nurses, through the strategy of revision of the protocols; implantation of the data information lapsing, with the technique of participant comment; (re) collective construction in the evaluation, with half-structuralized interviews. As result got 177 interventions in 64 problems of nursing. The interventions had been classified, selecting previsible, excellent, viable, functional and the routines more adjusted to the searched context to insert in the protocols. The study it evidences the viability of the adoption of the PE with the use of the PEI, basic instrument for the cultural valuation of the nursing and organization of the work, being possible of being constructed, when part of the interaction human being for the transformation of the reality.

The growing demand for information and, particularly, the exponential increase in the number of networks connected to the Internet, makes the institutions have to modernize their infrastructures often. The sensitive limitation of available addressing this network contributes to these institutions to study the implementation of the new version of Internet protocol, IPv6. The University of Brasilia, as leading provider of access and information, and trying to keep connected to the largest number of users as possible and high availability, see the need to introduce new solutions in your environment, but because it is a very complex environment and heterogeneous, need to concentre to a deployment model that allows implementation of a transition to IPv6 in a secure manner, gradually and smoothly. In this research work presents a methodology to create an environment of experiments within the REDUnB (Data Network of UNB) for IPv6 implementation, analyzing aspects related to the techniques of transition with performance analysis of these communications. Through this methodology seeks to a basis for a model of migration from the environment of IPv4 to IPv6 in a heterogeneous academic network environment, with concrete prospects of implementation in REDUnB environment.

Abstract: Group scheduling is an essential and continuous activity. Complexities on conciliating schedules of several people make time management a challenge. It involves sophisticated communication mechanisms to support calendar sharing and scheduling negotiation among users of diverse systems, also comprising the need of rescheduling meetings in favor of others. However, there is a lack of solutions to ease the coordination of more complex situations like these. Based on a review of past approaches for this problem and their successes and failures, a new, interdisciplinary approach is presented for group scheduling. The development of calendaring and scheduling protocols is reviewed, as well as the application of promising techniques on the fields of optimization, artificial intelligence and interfaces. Towards a new generation of more intelligent and powerful group scheduling tools that will increase productivity by minimizing coordination efforts, a multidisciplinary application of knowledge from these areas is proposed. Extensions for present scheduling negotiation protocols are described, and the initiatives on the development of iScheduler, a solution that applies the best practices identified on this study, are reported.

Abstract:
No Brasil, a aplicação do CAN é restrita a máquinas e implementos importados.
International standards based on the digital data communication protocol CAN - Controller Area Network - are being developed and applied to embedded electronics in agricultural and environmental area to integrate different devices. In Brazil, the application of CAN is restricted to imported machines. Small and medium manufactures also need some support to apply this technology and offer compatible equipment to the market. This work present the searching of integrated circuits, transducers, elaborated devices (GPS receivers, embedded computers, handled computers, digital radios and intelligent sensors and actuators) and high level protocols for the development CAN based systems. The systematization of the results generate a practical reference documentation of CAN for agricultural machinery (tractor, combine and implements) designs and agricultural automation designs, such as irrigation, greenhouse and livestock systems.

Abstract:
AbstractIn this paper, we study the performance of encrypted DNS protocols and conventional DNS from thousands of home networks in the United States, over one month in 2020. We perform these measurements from the homes of 2,693 participating panelists in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Measuring Broadband America program. We found that clients do not have to trade DNS performance for privacy. For certain resolvers, DoT was able to perform faster than DNS in median response times, even as latency increased. We also found significant variation in DoH performance across recursive resolvers. Based on these results, we recommend that DNS clients (e.g., web browsers) should periodically conduct simple latency and response time measurements to determine which protocol and resolver a client should use. No single DNS protocol nor resolver performed the best for all clients.

Abstract:
O mais promissor destes protocolos é o IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks (RPL).

Abstract:
Cryptography is the science of writing in secret codes which can be achieved either by using software encrypter or hardware encrypter. This study presents the development of a pair of circuit system-based (hardware) cryptographic processor. The hardware encryption in this study was achieved using the bitwise logic operations in the registers of the microcontroller and messages are streamed as serial ASCII data from the PC through the USB port to the microcontroller unit. The encryption is performed on each ASCII representation using a pass key embedded in the microcontroller unit. Decryption process is similar but in the reverse order. A comparative analysis of the encryption time for the hardware-based data encryption was made and findings recorded. The processor was implemented using PIC18F4550 microcontroller mounted on a Printed Circuit Board alongside other components to achieve the hardware based circuitry. The software end of the encryption and decryption algorithm was developed based on a library built into C Language Visual Studio version 2010 and the CCS C compiler for communication protocol stack.

Abstract:
With the growth of devices connected to the Internet, several application layer protocols specific for the Internet of Things (IoT) appear every day. This high number of protocols bring doubts to developers about what to use in their projects. This work aims to assist developers in the decision making in their IoT projects. This work presents a qualitative analysis of the MQTT, MQTT-SN, CoAP and AMQP protocols. In a qualitative way, we analyzed thedomains of application and requirements of the applications to map the protocol choice. After that, the MQTT and CoAP protocols were analyzed using devices with low processing and memory capabilities. Results show that MQTT outperforms CoAP when there are several other devices accessing the same access point.

Saillant, Eric, Jason Lemus, and James Franks. Culture of Lobotes surinamensis (Tripletail). Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, January 2014. http://dx.doi.org/10.18785/ose.001.

Full text
Abstract:
The Tripletail, Lobotes surinamensis, is a pelagic fish found in tropical and sub-tropical waters of all oceans. Tripletails are often associated with floating debris and make frequent incursions in bays and estuaries where they are targeted by recreational fishermen. In Mississippi waters the species is typically present during the late spring and summer season that also correspond to the period of sexual maturation and spawning (Brown-Peterson and Franks 2001). Tripletail is appreciated as a gamefish but is also prized for its flesh of superior quality. The fast growth rate of juveniles in captivity documented by Franks et al. (2001) and the excellent quality of Tripletail flesh both contribute to the potential of this species for marine aquaculture. In addition, the production of cultured juveniles would be precious to develop a better understanding of the biology, early life history and habitat use of Tripletail larvae and juveniles, a topic largely undocumented to date, through experimental releases and controlled studies. The culture of tripletail thus supports the Tidelands Trust Fund Program through improved conservation of natural resources, potential enhancement of fisheries productivity and potential development of a new economic activity on the Gulf coast producing tripletail via aquaculture. The Objective of this project was to initiate development of methods and techniques needed to spawn captive held tripletail broodfish and raise their offspring to evaluate their growth and development in captivity. In this report we will present the results of studies aiming to develop methods and protocols for captive spawning of tripletail and the first data obtained on the early development of tripletail larvae. A major issue that was encountered with tripletail broodstock development during the project lied in the difficulties associated with identifying the sex of adults caught in the wild and candidates for being incorporated in mating sets for spawning. This issue was addressed during the course of the project by examining the potential of a non-lethal method of hormonal sexing. The results of these preliminary investigations are presented in the third part of this report. All protocols used in the project were determined with the guidance of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) of the University of Southern Mississippi (USM IACUC protocol number 10100108).
