Previous studies have established that the telecommunications industry in Kenya is characterized by decreasing voice revenues, many regulations, technological progress and varying consumer needs. This phenomenon has resulted in industry companies developing sound innovation strategies to make sure they form a competitive advantage over their rivals with the aim of ensuring their survival and growth in the evermore cut-throat marketplace. Nevertheless, in spite of the essential part played by these innovation strategies to safeguard competitive advantage, several companies have failed to transl

Abstract:
An industry survey of a representative group of gas transport experts in the pipeline industry. This survey was undertaken primarily to define and measure their perceptions of the relative rankings of the important factors considered in purchasing compressor station equipment; this information will be used subsequently to help screen technology ideas. Secondarily, the survey was designed to obtain some insight as to the types of equipment in use, when and with what it might be replaced or extended, and what new technologies could be of interest.

Abstract:
The Pipeline Research Council International has funded multiple projects focusing on using reciprocating engine operating data to diagnose combustion problems. This effort extends those techniques on reciprocating compressor units including the gas compressor, main bearings, and ancillary equipment (e. g., turbocharger, aftercooler, pumps). In addition, additional combustion monitoring techniques are described that can be implemented on most existing mainline compressor units used in the industry. Includes macro enabled spreadsheets that perform modeling fits for turbocharger and power cylinde

Abstract:
The original objective of this research was to investigate means of controlling materials ingested into compressors in pipeline, refinery, gathering, and storage services. After an initial industry survey, it was determined that "Black Powder" (various forms of iron sulfide mixed with contaminants) is the least understood and most prominent contamination problem in pipelines and their compression equipment. The information documented in this report was gathered from technical literature, the Internet, researchers, experts, practitioners in the natural gas industry, field experience, and equipm

Seidel, Udo, Hilary Carter, and Priyanka Sharma. CTO Summit Report EU 2022: Resiliency in Multi-Cloud. The Linux Foundation, 2022. https://doi.org/10.70828/xbaq3534.

Full text
Abstract:
Multi-Cloud resiliency means avoiding or mitigating an adverse event's impact and being ready for unexpected outcomes. Achieving Multi-Cloud resiliency requires different approaches than those that are used within a single cloud, no-cloud environments, or even hybrid cloud environments. Finding a path to federate Multi-Cloud architectures is a growing concern for many organizations. In May 2022, the Linux Foundation and the CNCF hosted the first-ever Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Summit about Multi-Cloud resiliency, and how to achieve it. The Summit included 21 participants from six business

Abstract:
Increasing legislation and public awareness of noise are intensifying the efforts of industries today to reduce the noise. The natural gas industry has proved that it is one of the industrial leaders in its awareness of noise problems and has maintained a vigorous research program in noise control for over 30 years. A noise survey can be done in several ways: point measurements, grid point methods, contour methods, scanning techniques, etc. The selection of the method depends on the accuracy required, available personnel, expertise etc. For the most accurate determination of sound power, the s

Full text
Abstract:
The possibility of extensive SCC in natural gas treatment plants is of obvious concern to the gas transmission industry. As a result, PRCI initiated a research project at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) to investigate the SCC susceptibility of carbon steels in MEA and DEA solutions typical of amine solutions used in natural gas treatment plants. The primary objectives of the project were: to determine the parameters responsible for cracking; and to determine modifications to plant equipment an and or process chemistry that might be used to control SCC in natural gas treatment plants. Full text
Abstract:
Combustion stability is an important factor to maintain long engine life, achieve maximum engine efficiency, and help assure compliance with emission limits. Continuous combustion pressure monitoring is the best method to reliably detect combustion instabilities (misfires, late fires, auto-ignition, and detonation) but it is currently installed on a small portion of the reciprocating engines used in the natural gas transportation industry. This project evaluates the potential of using the engine speed to detect and warn equipment operators of the presence of combustion instabilities. The inten

Abstract:
The United States has long used export controls to prevent the proliferation of advanced semiconductors and the inputs necessary to produce them. With Beijing building up its own chipmaking industry, the United States has begun tightening restrictions on exports of semiconductor manufacturing equipment to China. This brief provides an overview of U.S. semiconductor export control policies and analyzes the impacts of those policies on U.S.-China trade.
