Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to provide a complete and chronological view of the evolution of the main acceptance and use of technology models, from the 1970s to the present day. Design/methodology/approach – A comparison of partial least squares (linear model) and WarpPLS (non-linear model) has been run for each acceptation of technology model: TRA, TAM0, TAM1, TAM2, TAM3, UTAUT, UTAUT2. The data set collects the information of mobile internet users. Findings – The authors have concluded that UTAUT2 model obtains a better explanation power than the rest of technology acceptance models (TAMs) in the sample of mobile internet users. Furthermore, all models have a better explanation power using non-linear relationships than the traditional linear approach. Originality/value – The vast majority of research published to date with regard to the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) are based on structural equation models assuming linear relationships between variables. The originality of this study is that it incorporates non-linear relationships and compares the same models using both approaches.

Abstract:
This study reviews the most recent literature on UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance, and Use of Technology) and UTAUT 2(Unified Theory of Acceptance, and Use of Technology) 2 by focusing on the findings and recommended future research. The papers, proceedings and dissertations included in the analysis were identified technology acceptance as the focus of their studies. This search was supplemented various websites which host scientific journals such as Emerald, Science Direct and Google Scholar. The initial search produced 65 papers. The studies examined works which employed UTAUT and UTAUT 2 by focusing on findings on the core constructs of UTAUT to predict Behavioral Intentions. The results confirmed previous studies that the four constructs of UTAUT contributed to Behavioral Intention even though PE seemed to be the most significant contributors. Findings also suggest UTAUT 2 has been more explanatory and list the suggestions for future works. The immediate implications are for researchers who wish to examine behavioral intentions, and managers who wish to ensure the acceptance and use of a new system or technology. This study bears a number of limitations. Number of papers examined is one of them. It would be more accurate to increase the number of paper examined. The other limitation is the ability to draw a statistical conclusion each research examined. This is due to a great variety of research topics, methods, constructs and contexts.

Abstract:
PurposeThis paper investigates if the existing degree of students' acceptance and use of mobile or m-learning may face the online shift determined by SARS-CoV-2. Based on the extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2), a new comprehensive model, SD-UTAUT (social distancing-UTAUT), is developed to better understand relationships between the original constructs, plus personal innovativeness (PI) and information quality (IQ). It identifies the key factors affecting behavioral intention (BI) and use by examining the influence of revaluated hedonic motivation (HM) and learning value (LV) importance as mediators.Design/methodology/approachThe paper opted for an exploratory study involving 311 learners, using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).FindingsSD-UTAUT can be a new m-learning model in higher education. It has high predictive power and confirmed 15 out of 16 hypotheses. The most powerful relationship is between performance expectancy (PE) and HM. IQ affected LV the most, since HM the behavioral use (BU). HM impacts the use behavior (UB) more than LV, but habit (HT) affects it the most.Research limitations/implicationsBecause of the pandemic context, output may lack generalizability and reproducibility.Practical implicationsTo improve usage, staff must provide better support, course creators emphasize the objectives and competencies and developers integrate innovation. The joy and pleasure of m-learning use may stimulate the LV through interesting and interactive content, like incorporating gamification.Originality/valueThe model set-up and circumstances are previously unseen. SD-UTAUT confirms ten new hypotheses and introduces the student's grade point average (GPA) as a moderator.Peer reviewThe peer review history for this article is available at https://publons.com/publon/10.1108/OIR-01-2021-0017

Abstract The aging of the world's population, raises issues of assisting elderly in conditions of sustainable spending. In this respect, smart technologies bring both an opportunity, providing solutions to assist elders’ life and a barrier coming from the lower acceptance of older adults for digital technologies. The paper proposes a research focused on education and its influence on older adults’ readiness to adopt new, digital technologies. As reference the two versions of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT and UTAUT2) were used. The research is based on a systematic literature review aimed to draft a conceptual framework placed on two dimensions: the first one tries to establish "if and how the initial education is influencing the elders’ acceptance of assistive technologies" and, the second targeting "how this initial education is correlated and/or imbedded in the elements of the UTAUT models".

The technology adoption domain is rich with studies that utilized a cross-sectional snapshot of subjects' perceptions regarding the adoption of new technology. This research tried to implement a longitudinal study that took three measures within 4 months to estimate the influence of time and experience on students' perceptions. The study adopted a modified version of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and use of Technology (UTAUT) with effort expectancy, performance expectancy, facilitating conditions, and locus of control predicting the intention to use Microsoft Project. Results supported the UTAUT and its prediction. Also, this study fitted two types of dynamic research typologies (learning curve and equilibrium circles) to the UTAUT relationships and across time.

Abstract:
PurposeGiven the growing importance of blockchain technology (BT), the authors use the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), which posits that BT adoption intention depends on the complementarity between UTAUT and blockchain transparency (BTRAN) and examine it in a new setting: the boundary condition of perceived helpfulness.Design/methodology/approachThe authors review the major conceptual literature on both UTAUT and BT to identify their principal common factors. They examine the complementarity between UTAUT and BTRAN and further test the moderating effect of perceived helpfulness. The authors used the PLS technique for data analysis because this technique can test the direct and interaction effects.FindingsThe complementarity between UTAUT and BTRAN strongly affects BT adoption intention. The authors further show that perceived helpfulness moderates the relationship between adoption intention and usage behavior. At high levels of perceived helpfulness, usage behavior increases rapidly with adoption intention.Originality/valueThe results indicate that UTAUT is a valuable theory to identify the determinants of adoption intention, confirming its robustness in blockchain-enabled supply chain management. The combination of UTAUT and BTRAN can contribute a plausible approach to the strategy literature: the complementarity effect might create more benefits than adopting a single practice.

Abstract:
The Unified Theory of Technology and Use of Technology (UTAUT) has been widely used in information system studies since its introduction in 2003. The current study synthesizes 40 empirical studies based on UTAUT in educational contexts using the one-stage meta-analytic structural equation modelling method. While the study confirmed the initial findings by Ventakesh et al. (2003), the model in this study underperformed in the explained variance of behavioral intention. However, the explained variance of usage behavior performed better than the original UTAUT. After introducing new direct relationships between the UTAUT constructs, it was found that the construct, facilitating conditions, was a new predictor of behavioral intention. At the same time, effort expectancy and social influence were new predictors of usage behavior. There have been studies on the UTAUT model with many diverse findings since its inception in 2003. The method introduced in this study, a One-Stage combined Meta-Analysis and Structural Equation Modelling (OSMASEM), offers an approach for researchers to use past empirical data to examine the UTAUT framework without relying on replicating similar studies. As more empirical data from UTAUT research are added to train the data model using OSMASEM, researchers can now study how educational technology trends change over time.

The authors have tested the relationships between UTAUT constructs and the behavioral intention to use mobile internet technology with samples drawn from India and Germany. They have also tested the moderating role of age, gender, and user experience between UTAUT constructs and behavioral intention using hierarchical regression analysis. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS SEM) was used to test the UTAUT without moderating effects. The results show that UTAUT constructs influence behavioral intention. Behavioral intention also predicts the use of technology. Empirical evidence was established for the UTAUT model based on the samples from both countries. “Experience of use” moderated the relationship between effort expectancy and behavioral intention in the Indian sample. The last section of the article discusses the contributions of this research to theory, its practical implications, limitations, and the scope for future research.

Abstract:
There are both formal and informal cries that UTAUT and, by association, the stream of research on technology adoption has reached its limit, with little or no opportunities for new knowledge creation. Such a conclusion is ironic because the theory has not been sufficiently and suitably replicated. It is possible that misspecifications in the various replications, applications, and extensions have led to the incorrect conclusion that UTAUT is more robust than it really is, leaving limited opportunities for future work. Although work on UTAUT has included important variables, predictors, and moderators, absent a faithful use of the original specification, it is impossible to assess the true nature of the effects of the original and additional variables. The present meta-analysis uses 25,619 effect sizes reported by 737,112 users in 1,935 independent samples to address this issue. Consequently, we develop a clear current state-of-the-art and revised UTAUT that extends the original theory with new endogenous mechanisms from different, other theories (i.e., technology compatibility, user education, personal innovativeness, and costs of technology) and new moderating mechanisms to examine the generalizability of UTAUT in different contexts (e.g., technology type and national culture). Based on this revised UTAUT, we present a research agenda that can guide future research on the topic of technology adoption in general and UTAUT in particular.

Abstract:
Due to the outstanding growth of geotagging technology usage among the social networking sites (SNSs) users, research is needed to better understand how SNSs users accept and use this technology. This study explores the factors that affect the adoption of geotagging technology among the SNSs users integrating personal innovativeness in IT (PIIT) with UTAUT. By using structured questionnaire survey, 390 data were collected. Statistical analysis techniques, such as SPSS AMOS and partial least square method, based on structural equation modelling (SEM), were used to analyse the collected data. Integrated UTAUT fulfills all criterion of model fitness. Interestingly, PIIT properly explains the personal characteristics of SNSs users in UTAUT framework. PIIT has impact on all UTAUT exogenous constructs except effort expectancy as well as on behavioural intention. Two new paths among the predictor variables (e.g. facilitating condition to effort expectancy and effort expectancy to performance expectancy) are statistically significant. All constructs of UTAUT except effort expectancy have substantial positive effect on SNSs users’ intention to adopt geotagging technology. Geotagg’s use frequency strongly moderated the different relationships in the integrated UTAUT model. The study will succor different tourism firms, restaurants and SNSs service providers to maximise the adoption of geotagging technology use. It contributes to knowledge by adding new moderator, new paths as well as integrating personal characteristics (e.g. PIIT) in UTAUT.

Abstract:
Abstract Objective We aimed to develop a survey instrument to assess the maturity level of consumer health informatics (ConsHI) in low-middle income countries (LMIC). Methods We deduced items from unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), UTAUT2, patient activation measure (PAM), and ConsHI levels to constitute a pilot instrument. We proposed a total of 78 questions consisting of 14 demographic and 64 related maturity variables using an iterative process. We used a multistage convenient sampling approach to select 351 respondents from all three countries. Results Our results supported the earlier assertion that mobile devices and technology are standard today than ever, thus confirming that mobile devices have become an essential part of human activities. We used the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test (WSRT) and item response theory (IRT) to reduce the ConsHI-related items from 64 to 43. The questionnaire consisted of 10 demographic questions and 43 ConsHI relevant questions on the maturity of citizens for ConsHI in LMIC. Also, the results supported some moderators such as age and gender. Additionally, more demographic items such as marital status, educational level, and location of respondents were validated using IRT and WSRT. Conclusion We contend that this is the first composite instrument for assessing the maturity of citizens for ConsHI in LMIC. Specifically, it aggregates multiple theoretical models from information systems (UTAUT and UTAUT2) and health (PAM) and the ConsHI level.

Abstract:
Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) is an integrative concept that has been used widely to measure IT adoption. However, a recent study in a developing country concluded that UTAUT is not adequate in predicting IT adoption within the context of health system strengthening (HSS). It has been suggested that context-specific dimensions to modify UTAUT should be considered. The objective of this paper is to propose an extension of the theory, called UTAUT for HSS, as a reference for contextualizing health system variables for health IT adoption studies in the developing countries. We combined the multi-level framework of UTAUT with WHO health system building blocks. Modification of the original multi-level framework was performed on the 3 levels. i.e: the higher-level contextual factors, middle-level, and individual-level contextual factors. Based on this, we propose a modified multi-level framework of technology acceptance and use for health system strengthening setting (UTAUT for HSS). Given the complexities of health systems, more thoughts regarding the methodologies will be useful to enrich this initial framework. Commentaries and discussions are invited for improvement, before implementation to obtain more complete story of health IT adoption in the low resources setting.

With over 1,000 public and private Blockchains (coinmarketcap.com, 2020), an acceptance model can facilitate an objective and comparative assessment of existing and future solutions. The novelty of this paper is a new methodology of assessing blockchains using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) (Venkatesh et al., 2003) alongside the distinguishing characteristics of blockchain implementations: trust, utility, and support. The paper distinctly aggregates existing approaches to present a concise assessment model. The distinguishing characteristics of trust, utility, and support in the context of UTAUT are beneficial for comparing and evaluating the myriad of blockchain implementations. The research encourages the examination of existing and future solutions using the UTAUT-focused attributes. The study has broader implications for blockchain solutions by providing contextual constructs necessary for acceptance and use.

In order to compare a research model accurately across different conditions, the model's measures must be invariant across them. In this study, the invariance of the UTAUT model's measures was tested along three dimensions: country, technology, and gender. Data were collected from two countries (Korea and the U.S.) for two technologies (Internet banking and MP3 players). The results show that although the UTAUT model is robust overall across different conditions, possible differences due to measurement non-invariance should be taken into account. The paper discusses implications of the study results and makes recommendations for future research.

Abstract:
Background Many university students are lacking adequate physical exercise and are failing to develop physical activity (PA) behaviors in China. PA app use could improve this situation. Objective The aim of this study was to use the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) to investigate the intention to use PA apps among university students in Guangzhou, China, and how body mass index (BMI) moderates the effects of UTAUT in explaining PA app use intention. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1704 university students from different universities in Guangzhou, China. The UTAUT model was used to measure the determinants of intention to use PA apps. Results Of the participants, 41.8% (611/1461) intended to use PA apps. All three UTAUT-related scales (performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence) were positively associated with the intention to use PA apps after adjusting for background variables (adjusted odds ratio 1.10-1.31, P<.001). The performance expectancy scale had stronger associations with the intention to use PA apps among those whose BMI were beyond normal range compared with those whose BMI were within normal range (P<.001). Conclusions UTAUT is useful for understanding university students’ intention to use PA apps. Potential moderating effects should be kept in mind when designing UTAUT-based interventions to improve PA via app use.

Abstract:
AbstractAim of the paper is to analyse specific factors of human-robot collaboration and adoption to Industry 4.0 technologies in relation to working in mixed teams and in virtual work environment. Based on literature review and current findings in unified theory of technology acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model and its extensions, new endogenous factors might be included/considered, in a UTAUT model, namely emotional attitude (trust towards technology, perceived threat) and new moderators such as a location of organization and type of workplace-based training in organization. Team identification and self-extension process are intended as drivers for development of positive attitudes in human-robot collaboration and prerequisites of sustainable human-robot interaction. Regarding the findings in human-robot collaboration, the authors suggest including the type of personality and the attitudes towards Human-Robot collaboration among the extended factors of technology adoption within Industry 4.0 strategy. Emotional attachment acts as a relevant factor of successful Human-Robot collaboration that can be maintained by a support of team identification and self-extension process. For the development of positive attitudes in human-robot collaboration, principles of personalized design can be applied, e. g. engaging the workers in designing specific features of the robot. It can be supposed that specific models of technology adoption - as UTAUT/UTAUT2 will require new extensions in a context of work analysis in a virtual work environment, e.g. health and psychological assumptionsIn the paper, subjective assessment of the increase in well-being of the workers after the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies is identified as one of the new Industry 4.0 outcomes within the human capital definition of Industry 4.0.

Abstract:
Background The rapid increase in the number of people who are overweight and obese is a worldwide health problem. Obesity is often associated with physiological and mental health burdens. Owing to several barriers to face-to-face psychotherapy, a promising approach is to exploit recent developments and implement innovative e–mental health interventions that offer various benefits to patients with obesity and to the health care system. Objective This study aims to assess the acceptance of e–mental health interventions in patients with obesity and explore its influencing predictors. In addition, the well-established Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model is compared with an extended UTAUT model in terms of variance explanation of acceptance. Methods A cross-sectional web-based survey study was conducted from July 2020 to January 2021 in Germany. Eligibility requirements were adult age (≥18 years), internet access, good command of the German language, and BMI >30 kg/m2 (obesity). A total of 448 patients with obesity (grades I, II, and III) were recruited via specialized social media platforms. The impact of various sociodemographic, medical, and mental health characteristics was assessed. eHealth-related data and acceptance of e–mental health interventions were examined using a modified questionnaire based on the UTAUT. Results Overall, the acceptance of e–mental health interventions in patients with obesity was moderate (mean 3.18, SD 1.11). Significant differences in the acceptance of e–mental health interventions among patients with obesity exist, depending on the grade of obesity, age, sex, occupational status, and mental health status. In an extended UTAUT regression model, acceptance was significantly predicted by the depression score (Patient Health Questionnaire-8; β=.07; P=.03), stress owing to constant availability via mobile phone or email (β=.06; P=.02), and confidence in using digital media (β=−0.058; P=.04) and by the UTAUT core predictors performance expectancy (β=.45; P<.001), effort expectancy (β=.22; P<.001), and social influence (β=.27; P<.001). The comparison between an extended UTAUT model (16 predictors) and the restrictive UTAUT model (performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence) revealed a significant difference in explained variance (F13,431=2.366; P=.005). Conclusions The UTAUT model has proven to be a valuable instrument to predict the acceptance of e–mental health interventions in patients with obesity. The extended UTAUT model explained a significantly high percentage of variance in acceptance (in total 73.6%). On the basis of the strong association between acceptance and future use, new interventions should focus on these UTAUT predictors to promote the establishment of effective e–mental health interventions for patients with obesity who experience mental health burdens.

Abstract:
This paper examined the impact of UTAUT model and ICT theoretical framework on university academicians. The UTAUT model theory was verified using multiple regressions of the four constructs on behavioral intention to accept and use ICT by the Adamawa State University (ADSU) academic staff. The ICT theoretical framework reveals the connectivity between education and the independent variables, use of ICT, ICT infrastructure, staff development and ICT available tools as it brings transformation in education. We have verified the influence of the four UTAUT constructs on the behavioral intention of the university academicians towards the acceptance and use of ICT for teaching and learning. The UTAUT constructs significantly correlated with behavioral intention to use ICT. These are the factors associated with ICT acceptance and usage in Adamawa State University. According to our results Perceived Usefulness (PU) has R2 = .181 and significant with p-value .047(model 1), and Perceived ease of use (PEOU), has R2 = .270, significant with p-vale .000 (model 10). This has answered objective 1, which is to examine the factors associated with ICT acceptance and usage in (ADSU). The study confirms that the most influential UTAUT constructs influencing the behavioral intention of the academic staff to accept and use ICT is Effort expectancy (EE) in (ADSU)(model 10), with R= .519 and R2 = .270 ( Answered Objective 2). This study confirms the validity of the UTAUT model in the field context of a developing country‟s educational system. Knowledge gained from the study is beneficial to both the university academic staff and the ICT policy makers in developing countries.

Abstract:
The undertaken research investigates the extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model from the perspective of online education in the deadliest period of COVID-19. This research investigates the extended dimensions, for instance, mobile self-efficacy and perceived enjoyment besides traditional elements of the UTAUT model with the relationship of behavioural intention and user behaviour of LMS. Since the COVID-19 led to social isolation (SIS), thus, this study has incorporated SIS as mediating factor and fear of COVID-19 (FOC) as the moderating factor for the considered extended model of UTAUT. The data of 1875 respondents was collected from five different Asian countries. For the data analysis, this study employed structural equation modeling through PLS-SEM and condition process modeling. This research demonstrates that the extended dimensions such as mobile self-efficacy, besides the traditional elements of the UTAUT model, exerted a cogent impact on behavioural intention except for the perceived enjoyment. Similarly, the behavioural intention demonstrated a substantial effect on the user behaviour of LMS. Additionally, social isolation as a mediating factor and FOC has a significant effect between dimensions of extended UTAUT model and behavioural intention of LMS. The outcomes of this research demonstrate significant theoretical and practical implications during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract:
Governments are spending a considerable amount of resources to digitalize their many services. The purpose of this research was to conduct a systematic review of e-Government acceptance papers that used the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technologies (UTAUT) as the theoretical background. From the 1529 articles using UTAUT (from 2003 to 2019), we selected the 41 most cited papers that were related to e-Government acceptance. All 41 articles were fully read to understand research gaps. We found that only a few studies have been faithful to the original UTAUT model. Although improving the theory with new variables is important, the validation of the original model also is. Constructs such as trust, quality of information, quality of service, and quality of the system, despite not being original from UTAUT seminal paper, were often integrated into the model to predict individuals’ behavioral acceptance. Our findings are important to understand that as different technologies have different users and different purposes, different constructs might help to explain the individual behavior about using or not those technologies. By highlighting the research gaps, our paper guides future work on the use of UTAUT as a theoretical lens for the acceptance of e-Government.

The purpose of this paper is empirically to examine two theoretical models in the context of social electronic commerce (s-commerce). The study tries to extend TAM and UTAUT model with trust to explain consumer behavior in the acceptance of s-commerce on WeChat platform which is the Chinese largest social platform. Through an online survey, 501 valid respondents were collected. A Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis was used to conduct the proposed model and hypothesis testing with TAM and UTAUT models. The results revealed that trust is the most significant factor affecting behavioral intention and the second significant factor is effort expectancy, then social influence and performance expectancy. The integration of trust factor into the UTAUT model best interprets the adoption of s-commerce among the pure TAM and UTAUT models and extended models with trust. It will provide guidance for marketers and professionals, especially in China.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to perform a systematic review of articles that have used the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). Design/methodology/approach – The results produced in this research are based on the literature analysis of 174 existing articles on the UTAUT model. This has been performed by collecting data including demographic details, methodological details, limitations, and significance of relationships between the constructs from the available articles based on the UTAUT. Findings – The findings indicated that general purpose systems and specialized business systems were examined in the majority of the articles using the UTAUT. The analysis also indicated that cross-sectional approach, survey methods, and structural equation modelling analysis techniques were the most explored research methodologies whereas SPSS was found to be the largely used analysis tools. Moreover, the weight analysis of independent variables indicates that variables such as performance expectancy and behavioural intention qualified for the best predictor category. Moreover, the analysis also suggested that single subject or biased sample as the most explored limitation across all studies. Research limitations/implications – The search activities were centered on occurrences of keywords to avoid tracing a large number of publications where these keywords might have been used as casual words in the main text. However, we acknowledge that there may be a number of studies, which lack keywords in the title, but still focus upon UTAUT in some form. Originality/value – This is the first research of its type which has extensively examined the literature on the UTAUT and provided the researchers with the accumulative knowledge about the model.

Social commerce (SC) became a major channel for conducting business as a result of the ban adopted by many countries because of Covid-19 era. The simplicity of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and use of Technology (UTAUT) and its extended version (UTAUT2) invites researchers to explore other options that can yield better explanation of the adoption of SC. This study extended the UTAUT2 with perceived value, trust and a SC related construct. In addition, the study re-structured the UTAUT2 to fit with SC environment. The study utilized 463 surveys distributed in Qatar, and analyzed the data using SEM. Results fully supported the proposed model, where trust, perceived value, facilitating conditions, and hedonic motivation significantly predicted behavioral intentions with an R2 value equal to 72%. The model supported the role of performance expectancy and SC constructs in predicting perceived value, and the role of effort expectancy and habit in predicting hedonic motivation.

Abstract:
UTAUT 2 is a model designed to be a starting point for investigating IT adoption and can be used to identify the factors that influence the intention to use it, as well as to be adopted by an organization. The main objective of this research is to validate the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) model by applying the questionnaire to students of a university that has gone through the process of implementing a virtual learning environment. The method is the quantitative one, through the survey strategy. As for the time horizon of the survey, a transversal cut was chosen. The techniques and procedures adopted were the modeling of structural equations with partial least squares in the Smart-PLS 3 software. The instrument used in this article is an adaptation of the questionnaire of Venkatesh et al (2012). The results point to evidence of converging and descriminating validity. This research contributes to the Unified Theory of Technology Acceptance and Use (UTAUT) as it is applied in different environments, evidencing characteristics that may allow its generalization. Finally, in the practical scope, it is possible to use this tool to evaluate and plan the acceptance of a new technology in the organizational scope.

Abstract:
Background Diabetes is a very common chronic disease that exerts massive physiological and psychological burdens on patients. The digitalization of mental health care has generated effective e-mental health approaches, which offer an indubitable practical value for patient treatment. However, before implementing and optimizing e-mental health tools, their acceptance and underlying barriers and resources should be first determined for developing and establishing effective patient-oriented interventions. Objective This study aims to assess the acceptance of e-mental health interventions among patients with diabetes and explore its underlying barriers and resources. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in Germany from April 9, 2020, to June 15, 2020, through a web-based survey for which patients were recruited via web-based diabetes channels. The eligibility requirements were adult age (18 years or older), a good command of the German language, internet access, and a diagnosis of diabetes. Acceptance was measured using a modified questionnaire, which was based on the well-established Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and assessed health-related internet use, acceptance of e-mental health interventions, and its barriers and resources. Mental health was measured using validated and established instruments, namely the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-7, Patient Health Questionnaire-2, and Distress Thermometer. In addition, sociodemographic and medical data regarding diabetes were collected. Results Of the 340 participants who started the survey, 261 (76.8%) completed it and the final sample comprised 258 participants with complete data sets. The acceptance of e-mental health interventions in patients with diabetes was overall moderate (mean 3.02, SD 1.14). Gender and having a mental disorder had a significant influence on acceptance (P<.001). In an extended UTAUT regression model (UTAUT predictors plus sociodemographics and mental health variables), distress (β=.11; P=.03) as well as the UTAUT predictors performance expectancy (β=.50; P<.001), effort expectancy (β=.15; P=.001), and social influence (β=.28; P<.001) significantly predicted acceptance. The comparison between an extended UTAUT regression model (13 predictors) and the UTAUT-only regression model (performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence) revealed no significant difference in explained variance (F10,244=1.567; P=.12). Conclusions This study supports the viability of the UTAUT model and its predictors in assessing the acceptance of e-mental health interventions among patients with diabetes. Three UTAUT predictors reached a notable amount of explained variance of 75% in the acceptance, indicating that it is a very useful and efficient method for measuring e-mental health intervention acceptance in patients with diabetes. Owing to the close link between acceptance and use, acceptance-facilitating interventions focusing on these three UTAUT predictors should be fostered to bring forward the highly needed establishment of effective e-mental health interventions in psychodiabetology.

Abstract:
Purpose Technology acceptance is an incremental approach that has developed over the years. Taking technology acceptance or adoption literature into consideration, the paper aims to investigate the mediating role of adoption readiness, constructed on the basis of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), on the relationship between user resistance as well as user anxiety and attitude toward using a system. Design/methodology/approach In consideration of previous studies, the public personnel’s adaptation of electronic document management systems is within the scope of the present research. Gathering data from 262 administrative personnel working in a public university, explanatory and second-order confirmatory factor analyses were done for the UTAUT scale. In addition, reliability and construct validity were tested for each scale; UTAUT, user resistance, user anxiety and attitude toward using. Relationships among variables of the research were controlled by the measurement model and then the structural model was tested. Findings Confirming previous research, the scales of UTAUT, user resistance, user anxiety and attitude toward using were found to have acceptable reliability and internal consistency. In addition, the implications of the paper showed user resistance influenced attitude toward using indirectly, by affecting adoption readiness. It also indicated that adoption readiness fully mediated the relationship between user anxiety and attitude toward using. Originality/value Negative behavioral antecedents of UTAUT are the focus of the paper. Reducing the negative effects of resistance as well as anxiety of individuals on their attitudes using a system is emphasized in the technology acceptance literature. Furthermore, defining each dimension of UTAUT as a single construct, adoption readiness, and proving the intervening role of adoption readiness between user resistance, as well as anxiety, on the attitude toward using a system are contributions to the literature.

UTAUT 2 consists of the variables of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, price value, habit, behavioral intention, and use behavior. This study aims to examine the effect of the factors in the UTAUT 2 model on user behavior in using the DANA e-wallet application. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory type. A sample of 90 users of the DANA application in Samarinda City was selected by accidental sampling. The causality test uses partial least squares. The results showed that performance expectancy and price value have positive and significant effects on behavioral intention; habit and behavioral intention have positive and significant effects on use behavior; effort expectancy and facilitating conditions have negative and insignificant effects on use behavior; social influence has negative yet significant effect on behavioral intention; and hedonic motivation has positive but not significant effect on behavioral intention. Keywords: UTAUT 2, Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, Facilitating Conditions, Hedonic Motivation, Price Value, Habit, Behavioral Intention, Use Behavior

Abstract:
Since 2021, big tech companies have been interested in metaverse platforms and services. Metaverse is the permanent, immersive mixed-reality world where people and people and people and objects can synchronously interact, collaborate, and live beyond the limitations of time and space, using avatars and the immersion-supporting devices, platforms, and infrastructures. On metaverse platforms, people can merge the real world and the virtual world. Because the metaverse has only recently begun to be studied, there are only dozens of studies on the metaverse published in qualified academic journals. There are few empirical studies on the extent to which metaverse platforms will be accommodated in the lives of information system users from an integrated perspective. Therefore, this paper aimed to empirically verify user acceptance of metaverse platforms by referring the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). This study was conducted in two stages. (1) The concept and research trends of the metaverse platform were examined, and (2) the UTAUT model was introduced in “Ifland”, one of the metaverse platforms, to verify its acceptance of information system users. I conducted a laboratory experiment while complying with the quarantine rules. Participants were required to watch a 15 min lecture on artificial intelligence on the metaverse platform “Ifland” for a sufficient time, then they discussed the impacts of artificial intelligence with others in the lecture. A total of 120 valid data points, excluding insincere responses, were collected, and hypotheses were verified through PLS analysis. Results indicate that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence of the metaverse platform significantly increased satisfaction, usage intention, purchase intention, and word-of-mouth intention. Facilitating conditions had no significant impact on satisfaction. The results of this study provide implications for how the metaverse platform should be designed and what factors should be emphasized to increase user acceptance of metaverse platforms.

Abstract:
In the authors’ previous article (Williamson & Parolin, 2012) the authors used data collected through case studies and the application of Actor-Network Theory (ANT). In this article, the research approach taken is an online questionnaire of staff in government and private practice. The questionnaire data was analysed using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The UTAUT results found that in order for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) applications to be widely accepted by planners, the organizations in which they work need to address performance expectancy and facilitating conditions as priorities. Although the research methods of ANT and UTAUT used in this research are vastly different, results have been found to be somewhat complimentary.

Abstract:
On the Intention to Use an Online Learning Platform FeatureOur research project gives more insight into antecedents of students' intention to use features of an online learning platform. This paper introduces the study year in the UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) model. We also include three constructs that are mentioned in literature on student satisfaction with classic (offline) classes. Statistical tests show that new constructs are statistically significant antecedents of the intent of students to use the new feature. Two new constructs seem as important as the most important UTAUT variablesperformance expectancyandeffort expectancy. The R2of our model is significantly higher than the R2that is achieved when the classic UTAUT is applied to our dataset.

Abstract:
Era of COVID-19 resulted in contactless transactions and extensive use of technological applications. Similar was the case of Fin-Tech which has extensively been used by consumers all around the globe for making transactions and other financial and economic needs. Although there is a lack of research to reflect these forms of evidence from the developing as well as Indian sides of the globe. On the other side, some studies indicated the Unified Household Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model as the base to prefer mobile methods of transaction and Fin-Tech use. Hence this paper has been developed systematically to relate the financial literacy of household females from Generation Y with the use of Fin-Tech during the eve of COVID-19. For devising this relationship research has been induced with the UTAUT model and data have been collected from married household females between twenty-four to thirty-five years of age. Results were analyzed through SMART-PLS which highlighted the financial literacy of Indian household females has a significant association with UTAUT model. However, the entire UTAUT model does not have a significant relationship with the use of Fin-Tech.

Abstract:
Purpose Currently, mobile payments have become pervasive in electronic commerce and are steadily increasing in many regions worldwide. In the literature, however, its continued usage among consumers is deemed equivocal, particularly among small businesses. This study uses the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) to examine mobile money continuance intention among micro enterprises in an emerging/less-developed economy. This study aims to explore the mediating role of agent credibility on this relationship, given that these agents are contingent actors between service providers and mobile money users. Design/methodology/approach After a preliminary qualitative enquiry, quantitative data collected from 584 micro enterprises were tested from the UTAUT perspective, using structural equation modelling. Findings Findings from the study establish the applicability of the UTAUT in explaining the antecedents, motivations and continuance intention of mobile money usage among micro enterprises. Further, beyond their direct effects, the UTAUT conditions have indirect effects on the continuance intention through their effect on perceived agent credibility. Originality/value The findings provide evidence to issues of research and managerial interest, offering insightful implications to the academic and practitioner communities, respectively.

Abstract:
It has been observed that mobile learning (mLearning) in institutions like Museums in the United Kingdom (UK) has been underutilized. mLearning usage could potentially increase productivity by delivering just-in-time technical knowledge to the science museum group (SMG) staff. This study uses the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model to determine factors affecting mLearning adoption at the SMG. Two research questions were formulated based on an adaptation of the UTAUT model. 1) What are the determinants of behavior intentions to use mLearning at the SMG? 2) Does gender or age have a moderating effect on the factors that determine behavior intentions to use mLearning at the SMG? 118 respondents were surveyed from the SMG. Data obtained were analyzed using Structured Equation Modelling on IBM SPSS 20 and Amos version 25. Results indicate that the UTAUT constructs, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions are all significant determinants of behavioral intention to use mLearning. A newly proposed construct, self-directed learning was not a significant determinant of behaviour intentions. Further examination found age and gender moderate the relationship between the UTAUT constructs. These findings present several useful implications for mLearning research and practice for ICT service desk at the SMG. The research contributes to mLearning technology adoption and strategy.
