This report explores the need for re-utilization of concrete waste materials in contrast to disposal by landfilling. Potential applications for the beneficial and cost-effective re-utilization of waste concrete materials are presented. Factors affecting the feasibility of re-utilization of concrete waste materials are discussed. Reduction of construction project costs and minimization of environmental impact can be realized as the result of removing concrete waste materials from the solid waste stream.

It is technically feasible to supplement such a system with outside energy, but it is more cost effective to heat the system using only the produced biogas. Abstract:
Nutrients present in digested animal waste can be utilized for algae cultivation under suitable conditions. Algal growth, however, depends on the chemical forms and speciation of these nutrients. In this study a chemical equilibrium model was first used to describe nutrient speciation and predict conditions that enhance the solubility of nutrients in anaerobic digester effluent. Dilution with water and separation of large particulates greatly improved nutrient availability and light penetration - conditions favorable for algal cultivation. Algae growth was tested using three strains - Scenede

Abstract:
The utilization of composed caged-layer waste (CCLW) in diets for pregnant ewes fed cereal straw was evaluated. Five sheep were assigned to five diets containing, 0, 5.72, 11.37, 23.80, and 32.69% CCLW in a 5x5 Latin square design. Water intake, feed intake and feces output were measured. Feed and feces were analyzed for dry matter, crude protein, acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), organic matter, hemicellulose and minerals. Thus, nutrient digestibility and nitrogen balance could be calculated. Forty dry, pregnant ewes in the last third of generation were assigned to fo

Surface preparation is the key factor in determining the success of a protective coating system and its ultimate objective is to create proper adhesion of a coating over an underlying substrate. Abrasive blast cleaning involves mechanical cleaning by the continuous impact of abrasive particles at high velocities on to the substrate in a jet stream of compressed air. Industries that use abrasive blasting include the shipbuilding industry, automotive industry, and other industries that involve surface preparation and painting. Materials from different origins can be used as a blasting media incl

The slags from iron-steel and zinc industries are rich in metal oxide contents like FeO, MnO, CaO. However, these slags are not used extensively, except some usage in the cement industry. These slags can be used in removing H2S from waste gases from different industrial sources. The purpose of this research is to study the effect of initial concentration of H2S on the capacity and sorbent efficiency of waste materials from iron-steel and zinc industries. Experiments were conducted in a 25 mm-quartz reactor with simulated gases containing H2S as reactive gas. Breakthrough curves for sulfidatio
