Introduction: The process of collecting, treating and disposal of solid wastes is termed as Solid waste Management (SWM). Solid wastes are classified as Municipal Solid waste (MSW), hazardous wastes, industrial wastes, agricultural wastes and bio-medical wastes. In Tamil Nadu, there are 12 corporations, 124 Municipalities and 528 Town Panchayats. Nearly 13968 tons solid wastes are generated per day and 12856 tons (92 %) are collected per day. In Madurai Corporation, nearly 450 MT solid wastes are generated per day and 185 MT wastes is land filled (1). Among the total waste gen

AbstractWith the increasing population, the limited natural sources are decreasing and environmental pollution is increasing. In recent years, the increase in industrial wastes and the high cost of disposal methods of these wastes have necessitated the evaluation of industrial wastes in industrials businesses. Truck tires, blast furnace slag, fly ash, waste concrete, and dismantled asphalt coverings can be listed as industrial wastes. If these wastes are used, environmental pollution is reduced, and contributions are made to the country’s economy. In this study, an evaluation of marble waste a

These materials present both environmental risks and economic potential due to their content of valuable metals. This work was stimulated by the fact that supplies of fossil fuels are finite, while there are abundant renewable forms of energy waiting to be tapped. The current fossil fuels store is reviewed before identifying usable forms of renewable energy which could replace or supplement fossil fuels. Bagasse - a solid byproduct in sugarcane milling - is then described in detail as a typical lignocellulosic waste which forms part of a larger class of renewable energy sources called biomass. The chemical and physical characteristics, as well as world-wide regions of production of bagasse are described.

In the food industry a large amount of solid and liquid waste is produced during production, preparation and consumption. When these wastes are given directly to the environment, they cause environmental pollution and the loss of valuable biomass and nutrients. In food factories, large amounts of food wastes, called by-products, are formed as a result of the process, and many of these are immediately destroyed or used to produce products with low economic value (animal feed, fertilizer, etc.) using lower technologies.

Abstract:
The United States Army produces a significant amount of classified paper waste that is pulverized to a fine consistency unsuitable for recycling. However, cheap, high quality organic materials such as classified paper waste are useful as soil amendments. The objective of this research was to evaluate the utilization of pulverized classified paper waste as a soil amendment to improve soil health and increase establishment of desirable native grasses on degraded Army training lands. Paper was applied at rates of 9 to 72 Mg ha⁻¹ to two soil types at Fort Polk, LA: an alfisol (very fine sandy loam
