The article states that the universal Marxist law of socio-economic formations’ changing is absolutely significant and relevant in the sphere of modern philosophical knowledge. The expression is referred to a combination of unorthodox ideas, fantasies and striving to improve the liveability by learning from the best practice, with an ultimate goal of a new, ideally imagined one. Abstract:
The article is devoted to the problem of the social state as one of the fundamental constitutional principles of the state structure of modern developed countries. The course of historical development of philosophical and legal thought on this problem is considered. The idea of a close connection between the concept of the social state and the ideas of utopian socialism of Thomas More and Henri Saint-Simon is put forward. In this paper, I analyse the representation of China in the twentieth – century in the prose and poetry of two modernist authors through the textual tensions among utopia/ dystopia/hete-rotopia, specifically Franz Kafka’s ‘The Great Wall of China’ (1917) and Ezra Pound’s The Cantos (1885 – 1972) and Cathay (1915). Drawing on Foucault’s concept of heterotopia as a way of thinking about space in real and imaginary terms, as well as its political imp-lications, I consider the two writers to translate China into uto-pias/heterotopias for their own identity formation.
