Abstract:
The urban water cycle (UWC), which is composed of the water supply system (WSS) and urban drainage system (UDS), is a critical infrastructure required for the functioning of urban society. Considering the growing pollution and subsequent water scarcity caused by increasing urbanization and climate change, efficient UWC management is required to maintain resource sustainability and environmental protection. Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) provide a technological suite for the efficient management of critical systems. To exploit advantages of CPS for UWC, this paper proposes a CPS-based management

Abstract:
Abstract Background Umbilical arterial catheters (UAC) and umbilical venous catheters (UVC) are frequently used in infants admitted to neonatal intensive care units (NICU). Dunn method (DM) was used in our NICU to calculate length of insertion of UAC/UVC until July 2018, before the adoption of the weight-based formulae (WBF). Objectives Our primary objective was to compare both methods in regards to correct position of UAC/UVC on first attempt. As a secondary objective we assessed the correlation between the tip position of catheters in anteroposterior radiographies (APR) and lateral radiograp

Abstract Corticosteroids are important bioactive substances in the body that regulate inflammation, metabolism, immunity, and circulatory dynamics. Cortisol and aldosterone are two major naturally occurring steroids, which synthesized in the adrenal fasciculata and in the adrenal glomerulosa under the regulation of adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) and renin-angiotensin system (RAS), respectively. The conventional strategy for evaluating adrenocortical function has been to measure random serum cortisol or 24-hour stored levels of urine free cortisol (UFC). ABSTRACTIn this contribution, a new raw material, Uşak clay (Usc), was investigated in order to assess its potential for the ceramic industry by comparing it with a world reference ceramic material, a Ukrainian clay (Ukc). Mineralogical characterization (X-ray diffraction [XRD], scanning electron microscopy [SEM] and Fourier-transform infrared [FTIR] spectroscopy), quantitative chemical analysis (X-ray fluorescence [XRF]) and the thermal properties of Ukc and Usc samples were investigated. This study uses an optimization approach representation and numerical solution for the variable viscosity and non-linear Boussinesq effects on the free convection over a vertical truncated cone in porous media. The surface of the vertical truncated cone is maintained at uniform wall temperature and uniform wall concentration (UWT/UWC). The viscosity of the fluid varies inversely to a linear function of the temperature. The partial differential equation is transformed into a non-similar equation and solved by Keller box method (KBM). Compared with previously published articles, the results are

The study’s unit of analysis was the United World Colleges (UWC), a group of complex international schools whose multi-campus and multinational structure shares a values-driven and activist-oriented mission. With an interest in exploring causation, the researcher employed case study methods to understand how this large organization brings its mission to life on a daily basis.Extensive interviews, observations and docume

Due to the COVID-19 virus being highly transmittable, frequently cleaning and disinfecting facilities is common guidance in public places. However, the more often the environment is cleaned, the higher the risk of cleaning staff getting infected. Therefore, strong demand for sanitizing areas in automatic modes is undoubtedly expected. In this paper, an autonomous disinfection vehicle with an Ultraviolet-C (UVC) lamp is designed and implemented using an ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning sensor. The UVC dose for 90% inactivation of the reproductive ability of COVID-19 is 41.7 J/m2, which a 40 W U

Objective The objective of this study was to examine the association between umbilical catheters and a composite outcome of mortality or major neonatal morbidity in extremely preterm infants. Study Design Data were abstracted from the Canadian Neonatal Network database for infants born at <29 weeks' gestational age and admitted to 29 neonatal intensive care units between January 2010 and December 2012. Four groups were identified: those with no umbilical catheters, umbilical venous catheters (UVCs), umbilical artery catheters (UACs), and those with both UVCs and UACs. The outcomes were comp
