Abstract:
The results of a theoretical study evaluating the effectiveness of using Uzbek diesel locomotives of the UzTE16M3 series during the non-stop movement of freight trains on the hilly-mountainous high-speed section Marokand - Kattakurgan of the Uzbek railway are presented. The reference point for the implementation of this assessment was the mathematical model of the movement of a freight train developed by the authors and the algorithm for performing traction calculations, which are prerequisites for substantiating the numerical values of the parameters of the logistic indicators for the process of railway transportations of goods in real conditions of the organization of operation. The authors obtained the parameters of logistics indicators in the form of numerical tabular values and graphical dependencies, and the corresponding regression equations were proposed to calculate the indicators of transport logistics. The data obtained by the authors can be used by specialists of the locomotive depots “O’zbekiston temir yo’llari” JSC, whose production activities are related to the issues of forecasting and normalizing the consumption of full-scale diesel fuel by diesel locomotives on the hilly-mountainous, of hi high-speed sections of the Uzbek railways.

In this paper, the new, five-volume and six-volume explanatory dictionaries of the Uzbek language published in Uzbek Latin script have been shown to have a number of news and advantages. One of the most important and main innovations of these dictionaries is the provision of complete etymological information for words and terms that have entered the Uzbek language from foreign languages, and another is that in the following years, the so-called "international term elements" and actively participating in the creation of scientific and technical terms, such as aviation, auto It is noted that elements such as anti-, geo-, gidro-, makro-, mikro-, neo-, poli-, tele- are given in the form of separate dictionary articles. Also, it was emphasized that the main purpose of the explanatory dictionary is to reveal the separate components of the international terms that have been assimilated into the Uzbek language, that is, the meanings of the term elements, to show their word-making possibilities, to comment on the terms formed with their participation, and what aspects the authors pay attention to when solving these issues and creating dictionary articles are shown. Full text
Abstract:
The results of genetic studies have proven the relationship of celiac disease with class II genes of the major histocompatibility complex (HLA), in particular with the DQ locus. The presence of specific alleles at the HLA-DQ locus is necessary, but insufficient, for the realization of the disease phenotype. In Uzbekistan, the distribution of HLA markers in children with celiac disease has not been studied and these studies are required. Purpose — to establish the peculiarities of the distribution of HLA II class celiac disease alleles in children in the Uzbek population. Materials and methods. We examined 54 children with celiac disease of the Uzbek population, who were registered and receiving inpatient treatment at the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Pediatrics. The age of the examined children was from 1 to 14 years old, the average age was 7.3±1.9 years. The control group consisted of 109 unrelated Uzbeks without immune diseases. Molecular typing of HLA II class genes was determined by DNA chain reaction polymerase. Results. As a result of gene typing, 48 (88.8%) out of 54 investigated had DQ2 and DQ8 haplotypes associated with celiac disease. Haplotypes with only DQ2 and DQ8 were found in 19 (39.5%) and 7 (14.5%), respectively. DQ2 from 48 children was found in 18 (37.5%) children in the trans-position, in 2 (4,1%) — as two copies of DQ2 dimers, and in 1 (2%) case in combination with DQ8. Only in one case (2%) was DQ8 found as two copies of DQ8 dimers. The frequency of occurrence of the HLA-DRB1*07 and *13 alleles was significantly higher than in the control group. The maximum value of the relative risk and the criterion of reliability are noted in the DQA1*0501 allele, i.e. it is positively associated with celiac disease (χ2=7.28, RR=2.03). Significance criterion and relative risk were observed in sick children with DQB1*0201 (χ2=6.74, RR=1.97) associated with celiac disease. The number of haplotype (DQA1*0501-DQB1*0201) was 36 (75%). Conclusions. A specific predisposition to celiac disease in children of the Uzbek population is associated with the genes HLA-DQA1*0501, HLA-DQB1*0201, HLA-DRB1*07 and *13. Alleles such as DRB1*15, DQA1*0102, DQB1*0303 and *0502, have a protective effect in the development of celiac disease in children of the Uzbek population. A high frequency of carriage of the DRB1*13 — HLA-DQА1*0501 and DQB1*0201 (DQ2 type) haplotype in Uzbeks (75%) was found, which requires a more thorough population genetic study of the Uzbek population for the HLA II class DRB1-DQA1-DQB1 genes. The research was carried out in accordance with the principles of the Helsinki Declaration. The study protocol was approved by the Local Ethics Committee of these Institutes. The informed consent of the patient was obtained for conducting the studies. No conflict of interest was declared by the authors. Key words: celiac disease, children, genetics, HLA class II.

Abstract:
The article considers the concept of Schastie/Bakht (Happiness) in the Russian and Uzbek linguistic cultures as one of the most important universal concepts with a national component. On the one hand, the study is conditioned by the interest of modern contrastive linguistics in the comparative research of concepts with a national component. On the other hand, it continues scientific works concerned with the concept of Schastie in the Russian linguistic culture and the concept of Bakht in the Uzbek linguistic culture. The novelty of this study is determined by the fact that this concept is compared for the first time using set phrases of two languages and based on an analytical review of the relevant sources. The article aims at determining common and different components for the Uzbek and Russian linguistic cultures with regard to the Happiness concept (according to the data obtained from the analysis of the above-mentioned material). The article presents the results of an analytical review of studies on the concept of Schastie in the Russian linguistic culture and the concept of Bakht in the Uzbek linguistic culture, as well as contrastive analysis of phraseological units related to the verbalization of these concepts. To analyze and compare idioms of two unrelated languages (Russian and Uzbek) and ways of verbalizing the concept, the authors used the method of linguistic and cultural description supplemented by the component analysis of lexemes and the comparative method. As a result, general and specific meanings for the words “schastie” and “bakht” were identified, as well as general and specific components of the Happiness concept.

Abstract:
Introduction. The article shows how Bashkir, Uzbek and Tajik proverbs reflect religious ideas of the Islamic peoples. Goals. The study examines a certain thematic group of Bashkir, Tajik and Uzbek proverbs containing religious and theological concepts to illustrate how the Muslim profession of faith yielded somewhat linguistic and cultural transfer. Materials and methods. The paper analyzes patterns contained in the authors’ proverbial database compiled via continuous sampling from a variety of dictionaries (75 publications) and survey results of different aged Bashkir, Tajik and Uzbek native speakers (20 individuals). The employed techniques rest on value criteria when it comes to select value constants, highlight some semantic condensate, and conduct comparative analyses. Results. The contrastive insights into proverbial collections of the three languages that form a sort of a triangle of interconnections (Bashkir and Uzbek — cognate languages, Tajik and Uzbek — contacting ones) are indicative of which religious and theological ideas of Islam did prove most required by the latter’s speakers, stable in relation to external influences, and would receive further axiological comprehension as ‘their own’. Conclusions. The identification of semantic dominants shows a commonality of the languages under consideration. The partial coincidence of the three paremiological clusters is explained by the cultural and linguistic transfer, when Muslim ideas penetrated into the Turkic language environment through Iran and its cultural mediation, while it is through Central Asia that the former arrived in the South Urals. All this attests to a complicated and multi-stage cultural and linguistic transfer ignited by Islam.

Abstract:
Research objectives: In response to the problem of diametrically opposed views on the Islamization of Kazakh nomads, this paper aims to present a new interpretation of the religion`s destiny in connection with post-Golden Horde decadence. In this regard, certain tasks must be addressed: to characterize new research trends; to substantiate the argument for the completion of Islamization under Uzbek Khan and the Muslim identity of the Kazakh Khanate; to propose a hypothesis on the religion’s crisis further in order to challenge the thesis of “Superficial Islam”. Research materials: The research used a variety of sources. Required information is contained in Muslim authors’ works such as those of Seyfi Chelebi, Fazlallah Ibn Ruzbihan, etc., as well as several Russian-European authors’ notes. Particular attention was paid to Kazakh genealogies and folklore. Results of the research: Serious differences in views on the time of the area’s full Islamization are revealed. An alternative point of view about the full-fledged Steppe Islamization already in 14th–early 15th centuries is justified. In general characteristics of Kazakh religion, its peculiar forms in accordance with the concept of regional Islam were not qualified as a pre-Islamic complex. At the same time, taking into account the evidence of Islam`s weakness in the Steppe of the later era, the authors propose a new approach – studying Islam in the context of the post-Golden Horde decadence. From this perspective, the idea of a gradual weakening of tradition and an institutional disintegration of religion “after Uzbek Khan” could be admitted.

Abstract:
«Totynama» is one of the most famous literary monuments in the world, which has many variants and is still of interest to researchers. This famous work, widely distributed in many countries, had a sufficient number of authors in different historical periods. The collection of stories «Totynama» by Ziyauddin Nakhshabi, which received special recognition in world literature and has a high artistic value, became a solid basis for the creation of many later versions of this unique creation. Therefore, thanks to the writers who translated into their languages and masterfully finalized this work, several completely new readings of it appeared. The Nakhshabi variant also gained popularity in Central Asia, the cradle of scribal poets who sought inspiration from the Eastern literary tradition. Among the states of this region, Uzbekistan occupies a special place, where the ancient manuscripts of «Totynama» are carefully preserved and the heritage of the people is fully used. At the same time, in the Uzbek literature, there are other works dating back to the work of Nakhshabi and called «Totynama». The prose version of «Totynama» by Latifi and its poetic version, which came out from the pen of Khiromi, undoubtedly became valuable creations that elevate Uzbek literature. This article analyzes various information and sources, scientific works devoted to the story «Totynama» in a neighboring country.

As a comparison, Russian and Turkish alternatives of some phrases are given as well. This article also emphasizes how idiomatic expression can illustrate delicate meaning of cultural heritage and uniqueness of the nation. Some proposals which have been put forth by the article and scientific deductions might be helpful for effectively translating the text. Obviously, there are many elements of cultural uniqueness in all fiction books and there have been problems during the translation. In order to solve these problems it requires great deal of talent which is not easy to gain. It can be easily seen in phraseological units which represent traditions, social life and customs of one particular nation. Because rebuilding phrases requires not only special approach but also distinguish those phrases among one thousand words. Moreover, translating them into another language comprehensively is very complex process. It requires to know about Uzbek and Japanese languages’ different original constructions of many phrases in completely different roots and this prioritizes to be careful with ethology of phraseological units and learning source thoroughly. Abstract:
ObjectiveStudy of the predictors of ethno-cultural adaptation among male population with PTSD.Materials and methodsWe examined 72 males (age: 18–52) with PTSD (F43.1), acquired in interethnic Kyrgyz-Uzbek conflict. In the process of CBT 3 psychotherapeutic groups were formed: 1st (2 homogenous subgroups) included 24 ethnic Kyrgyz, 2nd (2 homogenous subgroups): 24 ethnic Uzbeks, 3rd (2 heterogeneous subgroups): 12 Uzbeks, 12 Kyrgyz.MethodsSemi-formalized interview, standardized scales for evaluating PTSD, anxiety, depression, aggression, loneliness.ResultsHigh levels of aggressiveness among Kyrgyz: 52.4, among Uzbeks: 51.7 (P < 0.05), loneliness among Kyrgyz: 38.9, among Uzbeks: 46.2 (P < 0.05), anxiety among Kyrgyz: 48.8, among Uzbeks: 52.4 (P < 0.05), depression among Kyrgyz: 57.5, among Uzbeks: 61.1 (P < 0.05) are mutually conditioning factors. In the CBT process, the values decreased: in 1st group anxiety level to 44.4 (P < 0.05), depression: 54.2 (P < 0.05); aggressiveness: 48.2 (P < 0.05), loneliness: 38.4 (P < 0.05); in 2nd: anxiety: 49.4 (P < 0.05), depression: 59.8 (P < 0.05), aggressiveness: 47.3 (P < 0.05), loneliness: 42.4 (P < 0.05); in 3rd: anxiety: 41,1 (P < 0.05), depression: 52.2 (P < 0.05), aggressiveness: 46.5 (P < 0.05), loneliness: 35.5 (P < 0.05).ConclusionsHigh levels of aggressiveness and loneliness among the respondents of both ethnic groups are the predictors of PTSD. Emphasized anxiety-phobic (group 1) and anxiety-depressive (group 2) disorders are the activating mechanisms of adaptation processes in micro-society (psychotherapeutic group). Dominating anxiety-phobic disorders (group 1), anxiety-depressive disorders (group 2), and their entanglement with values of aggressiveness and loneliness determine development and stability of clinical-psychopathologic manifestations as dysthymic disorders, which is an indicator for biological treatment. Heterogeneous group, as a result of CBT, has shown activation of psychological adaptation mechanism by the dissociative type, which is one of the mechanisms of ethno-cultural adaptation and requires subsequent research.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

The article examines archaisms and historicisms in the English language of W.Shakespeare’s time as a translation challenge, as well as the functional element of archaic vocabulary and methods of transmission when translating from English into Uzbek. Various theoretical viewpoints in the realm of archaism and historicism translation are addressed. Based on their research, the authors conclude that in order to appropriately express the traits of a distant literary text, it is critical to keep, first and foremost, the lexical and grammatical characteristics of the original while translating it. The key lexical characteristics of such a text are archaisms and historicisms. After researching the various methods of translating these lexical units from English intoUzbek, the authors believe that the selection of an analogue and the search for equivalent correspondences are the most effective.

Abstract:
The article considers the contribution of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic to the victory in the Great Patriotic War. During the war, thousands of Soviet Uzbekistan’s citizens went to the battle-front, but the participation of the Republic in the war does not end there. The agricultural sector of Uzbekistan tried to make up for the losses of acreage and livestock suffered by the Soviet Union in the first year of the war. A number of Uzbekistan’s enterprises were urgently converted to the production of military goods. Production at factories evacuated to Soviet Central Asia was developing at a rapid pace on the territory of the Republic. Not only skilled personnel, but also volunteers took part in the construction of new factories, plants, and hydroelectric power stations. The authors emphasise that during the war, there was a significant transformation of the Republican economy: the share of industry in the volume of production in the national economy of Uzbekistan increased from 50 to 80%, and the share of heavy industry from 14.3 to 52.4%. In September 1940, 141.6 thousand workers and employees were employed in the Republic’s industry, while in 1945, it was 196.2 thousand. The share of women employed in industrial production increased significantly (from 34.0% in 1940 to 63.5% in 1945). More than 23 thousand young citizens of Uzbekistan aged 14–17 became workers during the war and replaced professionals who had gone to the battle-front. When assessing the contribution of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic to the Great Victory, the authors note that the labour feat of the Republic’s citizens caused its transformation into a reliable arsenal of the battle-front against fascism.

This article is devoted to the process of historical policy of independent Uzbekistan on the example of the character of Amir Temur. The purpose of the article is to identify features in the description and dissemination of the picture of Amir Temur by the official authorities through the construction of monuments, the celebration of anniversaries, as well as the study of the national hero by Uzbek and foreign researchers to determine the main directions of historical policy in modern Uzbekistan. The authors of this article tried to use the example of Amir Temur to show the reasons and mechanisms for the introduction of this image into the historical consciousness of the younger generation. The analysis of school and university textbooks and guides on the history of Uzbekistan, printed at different times, shows that the great ancestor of the Uzbek people becomes a symbol of national statehood and is actively used in the process of nation-building. The era of Amir Temur is directly connected with the Golden Horde and Moghulistan, which existed on the territory of modern Kazakhstan, so the importance of studying this period becomes obvious. These factors can explain the relevance of this process in the Central Asian countries, which have one common history and the need to create a historically important character to define statehood and nation-building.

The authors of the article explore the Turkmen people’s contribution to the Victory of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War at the front and in the rear. It describes the great heroism and valiant courage of the soldiers of Turkmenistan. They were among the first to defend the country, covering their names with the unfading glory of the feat on the fronts. It is shown how every resident, young and old, brought the Great Victory closer with every minute of his selfless work. It is emphasized that many Turkmen families, understanding and accepting the responsibility of the fatefulness of saving the country and family, sent all men of draft age to the front. In one of these families, all 11 sons went to the front. These are the greatest examples of the fact that the victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War became possible only owing to consolidation of the spirit and faith in a righteous cause, the unity of the army and the people, the military brotherhood and mutual assistance of the Soviet Union peoples, heroism, courageб and selfless service of Soviet soldiers to their Fatherland.

Abstract:
The objective of the research is to determine the role of China in ensuring the priorities of higher education internationalization in Uzbekistan at the present stage of reforms carried out under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev since 2016. While preparing the paper, the authors used legislation and materials from official websites of Uzbek and Chinese state bodies, universities and other organizations, statistics from international organizations, and materials from news agencies. The paper discusses the current policy priorities of the internationalization of higher education in China; analyzes the state of higher education cooperation between Uzbekistan and China under the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov (until 2016); studies the directions and results of the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in higher education since 2016 under President Mirziyoev. The research reached the following conclusions. Current priorities of China's internationalization of higher education include: (1) involving foreign educational resources in teaching in China; (2) opening branches of Chinese universities abroad; (3) promoting the mobility of teachers and students. The second and third priorities are relevant to Tashkent, which since 2016 has been pursuing a policy of a “total” internationalization of higher education in Uzbekistan. Regarding the opening of branches of Chinese universities, the Ministry of Education of the PRC recommends choosing countries with large market demand, a high degree of openness and quality of higher education. The need to provide education for children of overseas offices of Chinese organizations and for Chinese people living abroad is also considered to be of importance. Mobility includes both sending researchers and students to study abroad and attracting talented foreign researchers and students to study and work in China. Uzbekistan, as a close neighbor of China in Central Asia, a participant in the Belt and Road Initiative, and a developing country, is subject to various mobility support programs funded by China. Until 2016, the main areas of cooperation between China and Uzbekistan in higher education were the study of Uzbek students in Chinese universities and the study of the Chinese language in Uzbekistan. Since 2016, despite the policy of openness of the new authorities of Uzbekistan and the sharp growth of economic ties between Tashkent and Beijing, higher education cooperation between the countries has received little development. This is evidenced by the absence of branches of Chinese universities in Uzbekistan, as well as extremely limited number of joint programs between Chinese and Uzbek universities, of mobility to China at the expense of the Uzbek El-Yurt Umidi Foundation, and of Chinese students studying in Uzbekistan.

Abstract:
The study of the deviant behavior of adolescents from different cultures allows us to identify cultural differences in their psychological characteristics, as well as to determine the development tendencies of adolescents with deviant behavior. Deviant behavior of adolescents should be viewed as a social intercultural phenomenon. The formation of deviations in the sociocultural behavior of a teenager, on the one hand, can lead to destructive behavior, on the other hand, it allows teenagers to realize their innovative potential and reach a new level of their own development. Results of the research: in the opinion of the authors, the revealed high indicators on the scale of lies of Uzbek adolescents, which represent the reluctance of respondents to socially desirable answers, are interesting. This reflects the specifics of their real thinking and behavior. They have a heightened standard of moral judgment, as well as a special way of perceiving social norms. Emotionally focused coping strategies prevail among Russian adolescents in resolving conflict situations, while among Uzbek adolescents the strategy of avoidance prevails. Practical significance: The development of a psychological and pedagogical program for working with adolescents, prone to deviant behavior, will help to improve the quality of communication with them, and as a result – to improve the psychological climate in families and school collectives, reduce the level of xenophobic attitudes, increase the level of awareness and competence of parents and teachers in understanding the genesis of deviant behavior and ways to prevent it.

This article highlights the activities of women of the Khorezm region in the ranks of the army and on the battlefield during the Second World War. The author points out that, along with all the republics of the USSR, the Uzbek SSR was also involved in the war, cite the number of people mobilized to the front from the Uzbek SSR, and then focus on those who went to war from the Khorezm region. The article cites as an example the courage of Khorezm women of different nationalities who served at the front and received ranks. The names of women from Khorezm who went to war and did not return, as well as information about them are given. In the article, the author refers to unpublished materials (archival documents of the Department of Defense Affairs of the Khorezm region, books of registration of participants in the war, accounting records). The author covers the topic in detail using documents from the archival fund of the Khorezm Defense Department, which have not been introduced into scientific circulation. These documents provide preliminary information about the activities of women who went to war from Khorezm. Analyzing the documents, the authors identified the names of about 350 women who left the region for the war. They prove the erroneousness of the information given in the studies conducted in Uzbekistan until 2020, that 47 women from the region took part in the war. Also, as a suggestion, in order to immortalize the memory of these women in the heroic struggle against fascism, the necessity of creating new works of fiction, films, plays together with multi-volume Books of Memory, monographs, brochures is substantiated.

Abstract:
This article examines historical works from the 18th to the 19th centuries, created in Mawarannahr in Chagatai and Persian languages and containing materials on the historical geography of Central Asia. The purpose of this study is to identify and introduce into scientific discourse the most valuable information on the historical geography of Central Asia contained in the historical works of local authors of the 18th – the 19th centuries. The identified factual material from written monuments of Uzbek khanates has shown that the considered narrative sources contain rich historical and geographical material on the states, appanage possessions, and vilayets of the region. The data of historical works allow us to trace administrative and territorial changes that took place in Central Asia. Historiographers of Bukhara, Khiva, and Kokand, while telling about feuds in the region, describing military campaigns of the supreme rulers of khanates, provide numerous data on vilayets, cities, villages, and fortresses, report on the construction of new fortresses, mention known and little-known roads, water resources of the region, used crossings and bridges. The authors of historical works of the 18th – the 19th centuries, when describing the events that took place in the region, included in their works unique information and facts that are absent in other chronicles but essential for a more comprehensive representation of the historical geography of the region of the past centuries. Nevertheless, much of the geographical information contained in the Khiva, Kokand and Bukhara works of the 18th – the 19th centuries are still insufficiently studied and remains to be thoroughly researched.

Abstract:
The article provides a linguistic and historical overview of the problem of integration and differentiation of kinship and affinity of languages, including the features of unions. Based on the conducted linguistic analysis, the authors come to the conclusion that if adverbs in languages of different genders and tribes of Turkic origin are the result of integration of Turkic languages, then the division in the middle ages of Turkic languages (modern national languages, such as Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, etc. languages) is the result of the division of Turkic languages into branches, groups and subgroups. In the course of the work, the authors identify integration and differentiation processes, the kinship and affinity of languages and their integration into one language union, which was influenced by extralinguistic factors. Analysis and comparison of homonymous and polysemantic auxiliary morphemes, namely: case endings, plural endings, possessiveness and declension, suffixes of the noun, adjective, pronouns and verbs of the az-Zamakhshari dictionary [1] and the Kazakh language once again proves the historical uniformity of the vocabulary of the XII century and the modern Kazakh language. At the end of the article, the authors conclude that the differences between auxiliary morphemes in the «Dictionary» and the Kazakh language are expressed in phonetic composition, and semantic and grammatical functions of morphemes state the similarity and homogeneity of languages that belong to the Kipchak, Oguz and Karluk groups

Abstract:
The article summarizes the analysis results of the quality of rendering of the national specifics and individual style of the writer related to it in the process of literary translation. The material for analysis is the novel "Diamond Belt" by Pirimkul Kadyrov translated from Uzbek into Russian by Yu. Suvortsev and interlinear translation presented by the author himself. The explanatory potential of a hermeneutic approach to the analysis of source and target texts is demonstrated in the article. The examples of successful translational solutions to the representation of national picture of the world reflected in the source text, which are revealed in rendering of puns, proverbs, etc., were characterized. There were also revealed errors made by the translator when reproducing personal names of characters, etiquette formulas, stylization of characters' speech, etc., which led not only to a violation of the integrity of the perception of a literary text, but also to leveling of the national specificity of the source text. As the result of the study, an approximate algorithm for a translation strategy, which will minimize losses in the rendering of the national specificity and writer's individual style in the process of translation from one language to another, has been developed. As a research perspective, the authors raise the problem of authorized translation and the problem of the writer's creative work in the process of the interlinear translation.

The mausoleum of Janibek and the mausoleum on Kyzyloba site were examined. Brief descriptions and characteristics of these archaeological sites are given. Only the found Juchid coins are considered in detail in this paper. The analysis of numismatic material showed: 1. the burial in Janibek’s mausoleum contains 13 coins of the 14th century and dates from the first half of the 760s/1360s; 2. the burial in Kyzyloba’s mausoleum contains 4 coins of Khan Uzbek and dates from the second half of the 730s/1330s. The authors compare the coins with similar finds from other graves of the 14th century in Central Kazakhstan. The obtained data indicate a possibly different dynamics and scale of the spread of plague in Saryarka compared to the Volga region. A larger statistics of coin finds in 14th-century burials is required for relevant conclusions.

In the semantics of proverbs and sayings in Kazakh, Tatar, Turkish, Turkmen, Uzbek, Uighur, Azerbaijani, Kyrgyz languages, the main attention is paid to the image of national culture. It is analyzed that the commonality and linguistic identity of proverbs and sayings in the Turkic languages belong to a certain pattern, a historical source. They note that the Turkic paremias are semantically congruent, although there is no absolute coincidence. Analyze by examples that phonetic, lexical and grammatical features are expressed in accordance with linguistic patterns in Turkic paroemias. Individual variants of the Turkic general invariant in paremias were analyzed using linguistic facts. The presence of the full version of proverbs and sayings in one of the related languages, and in the other-an abbreviated version in one language, is shown using specific language data. Analyzes various changes in the components of proverbs and sayings of the Turkic languages. The authors consider lexico-semantic, grammatical and phonetic deviations associated with the independent development of Turkic languages by analyzing Turkic paroemias, which differ in structure and composition, but have a common system of logical thought, as a natural phenomenon.

Abstract:
The article explores one of the constructive materials, or patterns, of the Armenian text – the image of a pomegranate. Its multicultural genesis is revealed based on Sergei Parajanov’s film “The Color of Pomegranate”. The authors analyze not only the multi-ethnic contexts of the image of a pomegranate but also its different facets: in particular, the role of the image of a pomegranate in liminary situations – rites of passage (using the example of the biography of the artist Alexander Volkov, and the picturesque plots “Pomegranate Teahouse” by A. Volkov and “Rejoicing with a Pomegranate” by Usto Mumin, depicting the painted characters in their liminary stage – the Sufi state of hal, which raises the heroes to the highest level of knowledge). The image of the pomegranate is presented in the reception of the authors of Russian poetic texts: Mikhail Matusovsky, Vasily Nemirovich-Danchenko, Boris Chichibabin, Fazil Iskander, Gevorg Kubatyan, German Getsevich, Amiram Grigorov, Sergei Gevorkyan, as well as in the translations from Omar Khayyám. The semantics of pomegranate is analyzed in the story “Pomegranate” by the Uzbek writer Abdullah Kahhar, as well as in the fragments of other prosaic texts (Dina Rubina, Timur Pulatov) and the film text “The Tree of Desire” by Tengiz Abuladze. The study reveals the Biblical and Koranic meanings of the pomegranate image. The polyphony of meanings of the image of a pomegranate in different cultures, in different types of art, and in different eras comes down to the homogeneity of the pomegranate, existentially revealed by Sergei Parajanov in the formula “the pomegranate is the whole world”.

Abstract:
Modern Uzbekistan undergoes wide-scale social and economic reforms that include the modernization of higher education system. This paper aims at evaluating the actual and potential impact of the reforms in Uzbekistan’s higher education on the Russian universities’ opportunities to export education to Uzbekistan. Accordingly, the paper traces the evolution of the national higher education system under President Islam A. Karimov (from 1991 to 2016), analyzes the new priorities of higher education policies set by his successor Shavkat M. Mirziyoyev, shows their interlinkages with the transition to a new model of national development, and focuses on the objectives and instruments of higher education internationalization. Theoretically and methodologically, the research relies on the concepts of internal and external internationalization of higher education, Clark’s model of higher education system elements, and Trow’s concept of higher education massification levels. The authors show the scale and interconnectedness of higher education challenges that have been developing in Uzbekistan in the course of the 25 years of its independence. The authors argue that higher education internationalization has become a way to achieve a number of objectives, in particular to improve the quality of higher education, orient it to massification, make it more accessible in the country’s regional centers. The paper shows the parameters of internal and external internationalization of higher education in Uzbekistan that has demonstrated the unprecedented dynamics in post-Soviet countries. The paper underlines that the policy of rapprochement with Russia launched by Tashkent in 2016 has created exceptionally beneficial opportunities for Russian universities to work in Uzbekistan and attract Uzbek students. Four mid-term scenarios of higher education internationalization in Uzbekistan are suggested.

Abstract:
Purpose Uzbekistan is one of the most prominent cotton producers since the soviet era, but it has struggled to establish a complete value chain. The country’s strategic location and industrial potential have not been harnessed accordingly. This paper aims to critically investigate the barriers in the value chain and propose solutions to the stakeholders in the sector. Design/methodology/approach The research involves both primary and secondary research methods. Value chain analysis method has been implemented to ground the theories and results. A systematic literature review was conducted to understand the current position in the world market. Official statistical data was collected from the government bodies to support the reflections of academic literature. Primary data was collected by conducting in-depth semi-structured interviews and questionnaires in 50 local textile companies. Finally, the authors have used their empirical evidences from emerging economies to provide solutions to the sector. Findings The value chain suffers a disconnect, as the emphasis has been on exporting cotton. Moreover, companies have a very limited technical know-how of supply chain management and hence no value addition to the raw material. The consumer relies on imports, as there is no significant participation from the Uzbek companies across the fashion segments. This is a major loss of earnings to the country. Originality/value Existing academic literature revolves around the cotton and silk industry, but, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, there is no study that unites the value chain and provides solutions to its stakeholders. This paper provides a socio-economic vision to the stakeholders, academia and industry so that the country can harness its potential and become one of the leading apparel producing nations in the future.
